Subterranean Egg Planet

Custodian

it's thanks to a thread response by trevanian that I started to think that maybe LV-426 is a SUBTERRANEAN EGG PLANET that some oliphant juggernaut landed on, millennia ago. LV-426 survives the way a spider survives; making its trap and waiting. Maybe there's NO DIRECT CONNECTION between juggernaut/spacejockey/ and any subsequent alien/facehugger etc. from below. What I'm suggesting is XENOMORPH is even older than Space Jockey(!) Discuss.

I like that idea :) But the cave that Kane gets lowered into with the "egg silo" in it has the engineers design all over it(it looks like they used the Space Jockey set,but removed the Space Jockey) In regards the sequels to Prometheus I really hope the Space Jockey in the original Alien doesn't turn out to be Shaw in an engineers suit :(

You see, the other way round is that JUGGERNAUT lands on LV-426, thousands of years ago, and it's a normal croissant-shaped juggernaut, transporting ELEPHANTBOY across the light years or hyper space. Interior of Juggernaut looked NOTHING LIKE the alienised egg silo walls and repetitive Giger-biomech-decor; that only came later once SpaceJockey was 'egg'd, from below where a hole broke through. What is this EGG PLANET, and who owns it, if this is the case?

I buy the idea the Xeno is old, maybe it was even a Organism that they had not created... then again how come there are no more and only appear from LV 426 Ridley said the Derelict crash landed on LV 426 (made a emergency landing) because its pilot was infected by one of the Cargo, which was the Eggs in which the Derelict was transporting them to a unspecified destination. This would confirm that there was no Xenos on LV 426 prior to the Derelict, but it does not rule out that the Xeno was a Organism that came from somewhere else, maybe there are more maybe the Engineers wiped them out? I dont think we would ever know as Ridley i feel will not touch upon the Xeno or the Deacon in Prometheus 2, but he did say we would connect the dots and know our answers when he has finished the Prometheus Franchise.

Ridley said that the main difference for the appearance of the Derelicts and Space Jockey was to represent that the Derelict in Alien had been there for thousands of years and thus decayed, thats why he tonned down the Bio Organic elements of the Derelict/Juggernaut in Prometheus. You also have to consider with age and technology Ridley had decided to revamp the ship, they are meant to be the same kind just look different. Just as the old Battle Star Galactica Viper MK4s look slightly different to the new series ones, yet they are the same just a revamp, pretty much like the 2005+ Mustang compared to the 70s one. So its not a change like how BSG they Cylon ships are totally different.

I like the idea, I think the Xenon are old. I don't think that the Deacon is an ancestor. Besides, it is best not to expose too much to Xeno...and it is best to go ahead and expand the universe and perhaps the answers are discrete but clear.

@FreePlanet I do see the Alien/Xeno as a more patient creature that is willing to wait for its prey to come to them....like a spider. I still see the Alien/Xeno as having an exoskeleton like a spider, too.

@Cerulean - oh, you're talking about AVP's acid'd skull? Hmm, I don't think AVP's canon, as much as the basic concept of AVP is good. On your point about the Xenos being all about STEALTH or CONCRETE (you could walk past on, as Ripley did, and even TOUCH IT and not know it was there) and this is the major reason (the thrill packed, funny) Aliens was a BROKEN CANON for me. And it's not analysed enough. a) they were no longer the ROGUE HUNTER of Alien b) they were no longer the SHAPESHIFTER of Alien c) they were no longer the ARCHITECTURAL FEATURE of Alien d) they suddenly needed a Queen to spawn them(!) The strength and power of the original Alien (because Ridley was SO INSPECIFIC about it, and even CUT scenes that showed it too much) was that it became a bogeyman inside your head and in your head gave itself more powers than it probably had. In Alien's case LESS WAS MORE. I'm not convinced that same 'technique' works when you're AIMING TO EXPLAIN let's say the Space Jockey in say Prometheus. You come across as a 'disgraceful flirt' - at some point you're gonna be expected to 'put out'. Let the court cases begin(!)

LV-426, A SPACE ANT COLONY. if we go for the Alien Queen idea, if we accept THAT as canon, it's real easy to 'see' LV-426 as a SPACE ANT COLONY. All under the surface of the planet, to protect it from ultra-violence-of-a-spaceray-nature, there are millions upon millions of EGGS, laid by said Queen. We know that that original Alien started Giger-ising the Sulako while Brent and Dallas were 'incubating'. Here's how I saw it: thousands of years ago, alien ant planet was gayly going about its alien business. Reproducing, spreading, like a virus, like mankind, when one starlit day, and Elephant Ship of the Ganesha race splits the sky like a sheet and falls out of HyperDrive four millimeters above the planet, landing heavily upon the planet, cracking the surface. An investigation ant from the colony below the ship eventually finds the spine-shattered driver and impregnates it. Fellow ants, following the trail of the investigator, arrive to Giger-ise the whole ship, transforming not only the smooth surface of the walls and floor but also the Space Jockey itself. A sort of EXTERNAL ENCLAVE of the underground space ant colony's tunnels and chambers. That ant spittle is marvelous stuff.
