Ok, there are about 5 different threads about the NECA figures and it's kinda hard to decide where to put what info. So, now we have a thread to put any and all NECA Prometheus figure info, pics, etc. I wanted to start this because I just got the most detailed info I've seen on the release dates, characters that will be in each series and what accessories each figure will include. Here's the low down... [b][i]SERIES 1 (September 2012 Release) - Engineer in Pressure Suit - Engineer in Chair Suit TOYS"R"US EXCLUSIVE 2-PACK (November 2012) - Battle Damaged Engineer - Trilobite SERIES 2 (November 2012) - Android David (Space Suit w/ Helmet) - Infected Charlie Holloway (Space Suit w/ Helmet) EXCLUSIVE TBD (2013) - Deacon Creature Pack (to include the "proto-alien", Hammerpedes, and a bonus severed Engineer head with removable helmet) SERIES 3 (2013) - Elizabeth Shaw (with Decapitated David head) - Meredith Vickers - Infected Fifiled [/i][/b] NECA still hasn't said exactly when they will ship but they do update their twitter with shipping info so if I'm the first to hear they've been shipped I'll post it here. Arg, I may have to check out Toys R Us, then... they've kinda pissed me off, though. Why the delay? And did Ridley really give the okay on the figures?

yeah...i dont think toys r us knows what the hell is going on as far as what they sell, what they might be selling in the future, and when they might be selling it ("how do you spell promepheus for the 7th time?"). Dealing with TRU seems to be a complete crap shoot. However, the last time i was there, they did have a large selection of prometheus figures and their price is the best ive seen ($16 bucks per). According to NECA, they sent their finished engineers to Ridley in London and he gave them the green light etc.

Me too, I've completely ran out of shelf space for all my things. Looks like something is gonna get booted to the ground or double stacked to make space for the engineer. I don't think I'm gonna be getting any other Prometheus figures anyway, besides the Chair Suit Engineer, and maybe the Deacon. Too much money to get all of them.

these two series 1 engineers are literally my first 2 collectible figures (aside from the original star wars toys way back when). Im going to use the fact that, before now, i havent spent any money on superfluous toys to justify going for all (or almost all) of the NECA prometheus figures. Looking forward to building a cool diorama to display them all. Wow. i think i have been bitten by the bug. Thankfully i think its prometheus specific. Havent felt the need to branch out to other series' (yet). ha! what a nerd!

@joeyjoe Yeah, I'm not a huge collector either. Just certain things. I've collected some Matrix figures, Riddick, and now Prometheus. So, mainly just cool sci-fi stuff that I have a particular interest in. Don't worry, you shouldn't start collecting everything in sight, haha. Yeah, I've been a collector for years, it all started when I saw Star Wars Episode I as a kid. My biggest interest is the Star Wars and ALIENS Universe. Got some SW figures, SW Sideshows, and a bunch of the Halo campaign figures. But the biggest collection I have is my books. I love to read so its only natural that I would read SW. As of right now, I own EVERY SW adult novel ever published, and have read about half of them. Just finishing up The Hunger Games Trilogy, and loved those too. Now I can't wait till the Aliens Colonial Marines and Alien figures from NECA are released, I'm gonna get each one of those.

yup...Star Wars episodes 4,5,6, were a huge part of my childhood. I was completely into the old kenner star wars toys. Those old kenner star wars figures/vehicles were incredible (keep in mind this was the 70s and 80s...well, the 80s for me). they were the absolute best sculpts of the day! Its amazing watching my son play with his star wars toys...reminds me of how much fun i had.

Well, mine finally showed up after a stupid-long delay. Here's some crappy pics... I'm going to fix that with a paint wash while I contemplate on if I should try and fix his eyes as well. Another problem with the Pressure Suit version is the length of the abdomen and what ever they were doing with his genital region. The abdomen is just way too long. Not sure what happened with the middle quarter of his body. The articulation is completely worthless as well. All in all the Pressure suit is very dissapointing especially since I was most looking forward to him. The Chair Suit on the other hand is freaking awesome. I'll post pics after I'm done painting the Pressure Suit figure.

Here's the 2 custom paint jobs I've done on the Pressure Suit Engineer figures. Before shot... [IMG]http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/q507/Engineering211/custengineer012.jpg[/IMG] The one on the right was my first attempt. I did a wash with 4 different colors. I used Golden brand acrylic paint. The colors were carbon black, iridescent pearl, pithalo blue and sap green hue. I used rubbing alcohol to dilute the paint. I do feel both are a bit too dark especially in the pics. The one on the right looks really, really good in person. It's not as green as the other and it has more of the iridescent pearl which makes the thing pop like crazy. The single best thing I did though was painting the eyes black. When I did that it actually made the head sculpt look so much more like Ian Whyte as the engineer that it's insane. So, if you have one, take some black acrylic and a toothpick and carefully paint the eyes all black. Trust me, you wont regret it. I suck at taking pics and my camera is very crappy but I'll try to get some pics that do them justice. Either way I feel they improve upon the original figure quite a bit.

@engineering: although i quite like the NECA pressure suit engineer, the custom wash you gave yours looks great (from what i can tell). thanks for sharing! I wish i knew how to embed pics, id post pics of my engineer collection. Ill just go ahead and provide a link below. @Joey...Haha, those are yours? I actually saw when toynewsi.com first posted that custom. I have to get one more chair suit engineer so I can do one. The head is waiting though lol. yup. those are mine. Did the url work for ya? sounds like you were able to view the pic? Post more pics when you get done with the custom pressure suit engineers! Thanks for the info regarding the Hot Toys figures. Are they doing multiple engineers? edit: i didnt realize that my thunder had been stolen by toynewsi. haha. The pics they posted are pretty cool though. I like the way i positioned the engineers helmet (in the arms like a pilot holding his flight helmet. i think it looks badass ha!).

just thought id add some pics of my custom/re-painted pressure suit engineer. I went over the entire suit portion of the figure with a dark gray wash, then provided another subtle wash of various blues/greens (more film accurate). Finally, i sealed the entire suit with a polyacrylic coat to 1) add a bit of shine and 2) seal in my paint job. I also added more flesh tone to the eye sockets and to the lips (again...more film accurate). yeah. i ordered both series one figs on amazon.com. then, weeks later, i picked up one more of each at toys r us (for custom work etc.). Toys r us = slow and disorganized. Recently, when i called to ask about the neca prometheus 2 pack, the lady on the other end said "toys r us doesnt carry those types of movies". wow. thanks for the info. regarding location...small world...im very familiar with augusta. I live in the metro atlanta area!

thanks for the pic @patient leech. cant wait to see the final paint app on the deacon. trilobite/engineer 2 pack exclusive will be hitting TRU on nov. 23rd. Obviously cant be certain of exactly when your local TRU will be putting them on the shelves, but according to neca, the 23rd of this month is the official approximation.

just heard back from randy falk (neca). he said that the prometheus line is confirmed through series 2. In other words, david, holloway, the deacon, and the engineer/trilobite 2 pack are all getting made (without question). However, series 3, which includes shaw, vickers, and infected fifield, is planned but not confirmed. Randy said that sales for prometheus series 1 (engineers) were good, but not great. in order for shaw, vickers, and infected fifield to get made, sales need to, at the very least, hold where they are (and ideally pick up). Moral of the story? buy these bad boys. It would be a shame if shaw never got made. edit:@patient leech: you're very welcome.

2 days until the engineer/trilobite 2 packs begin hitting the shelves at TRU. I hope my TRU gets them in/puts them out on time. im sure some stores will be quicker than others. either way, looking forward to this one.

Anyone out there been able to pick up the engineer/trilobite TRU exclusive 2 pack? i know the figs are available for purchase at a handful of TRU stores. More and more stores should be getting their shipments in soon. My TRU seems to be behind the bell curve. Share pics if you got em.

@joey Yeah, that would be a cryin' shame if Shaw never got made. :( I have called my Toys R Us a couple times and they haven't gotten the Trilobite 2-pack yet. I'm really sick of calling them. Somebody at my store said that they are the last to get NECA products, so, Whoo-hoo for me..

isnt it just an absolute joy dealing with toys r us?! So exasperating. Good luck and happy hunting. Post pics if you find a two pack...ill do the same. Do you live in the states? if so, what region? Seems like most folks who have already picked up the 2 pack live on the west coast. I hail from the southeast...still no luck. oh and BTW: infected holloway (series 2) is going to come with two heads, one of which will NOT be infected. david will come with two heads as well. Pretty cool.

Sweeeet.. looking forward to David and Holloway. Yeah, it's a pleasure calling Toys r us over and over. I'm a glutton for punishment, I suppose. If it wasn't a Toys r us exclusive then I would probably just go ahead and order it on Amazon and be done with it (even if it [i]is[/i] a little more expensive). That's what I did for the first two figures. I too am in the southeast. On the border of Georgia and South Carolina, Augusta, GA. Where're you?

NEWS: unfortunately, its not good news. Randy from neca stated (through neca's twitter feed) that holloway has been pulled from series 2 and placed in a later series. Now...since the prometheus line is only confirmed through series 2 (the later series' are planned, but not confirmed...depends on sales etc.), this bit of news seems to suggest that the prometheus line is in a little bit of trouble (sadly...definitely the best stuff neca has done imo). Unless they replace holloway's spot in series 2, it seems like neca is trying to truncate the prometheus line (typically this is done when a line's sales are unable to support multiple figures per series). Worst case scenario, we only get 6 total figures. Best case scenario, neca is just moving holloway to a later series....for fun...hehe. we'll see. bottom line...if you like these figs....go buy em. the better the sales, the greater the chance the prometheus line has of running its course (ie: all planned figures being released).
