MemberOvomorphSep-29-2012 11:08 PMAlright, ladies and gentlemen. This has been a long time coming, and i believe it is finally about time that this thread came into existence. It has come to my attention that threads; no matter what the topic, have their topics go in a different direction completely. This topic of discussion that forms in threads is very specific. Very diverse. But is nontheless one.
The reactions to Prometheus have been skewed. Whether or not you like, or dislike the film. Whether or not you were disappointed, or your feelings were the polar opposite; completely satisfied. People can't seem to help themselves, and start discussing improvements, what could have been. What should have been. And what could have generally improved Prometheus, and made it a superior film. I too was extremely disatisfied with Prometheus. But i'm still a fan! A fan of this world. This series. And i know that this is just the beginning.
So, in that respect, i will be starting this thread for Prometheus, as a whole, as a series. It's a bit difficult naming the series; but that name will emerge in time. So no matter. I'm sure you all understand what this thread applies to. Every subsequent sequel that is in correlation with Prometheus.
A thread where people can share their ideas. Expectations. Desires, and hopes. I strongly believe that we, as the fans. As the community that is passionate about this series, deserve to be heard by the producers, by even Ridley Scott himself. And everyone involved in production and development of the series.
I have seen countless threads travel down this different path. And change their topics to this aforementioned, creative discussion.
And i have heard nothing but great things. Excellent ideas from the community. From the members. Here's to all of you, and you're imagination!
Here, we can compile this wonderful creativity.
Let the discussion begin!

MemberOvomorphOct-01-2012 6:39 PMSome time ago I did a little story with different ideas, some mine and others that I have read in the forums, a possible scenario for the sequel.
Recently I changed my opinion about the story so qque I'm trying to make a new ... but here goes anyway:
Prometheus 2: The Paradise

In the prologue we see part of the scene of Engineers in the genesis of the Earth and other scenes showing the Engineers watching humans in ancient times.

There is a sinister plan in motion.

and then the story is seen through 2 points of view:
1) YUTANI EXPEDITION

The Yutani company send a ship called "Ethon Five" to investigate what Weyland found on LV-223.
The crew is composed by:
Miss Takako Yutani (Yutani company CEO).
Marines: Shepard, Hunter, Lawrence, Lekker, Morgan, Bernard, Jacob, Tyler, Cameron ,Logan and Jenna.
Scientists: Dr Daisuke (Astronomer), Dr Arthur (paleontologist), Dr Sydney (Archeologist), and Dr Savir (Geneticist)
Pilots: Jim, Kail and Connor.
The crew explores the pyramid. Inside on the temple the crew is attacked by huge snakes (22 feet long) living in the swamps of Black waters in the the big head room. There, one of the creatures crushed the head of one of the Marines, Hunter, with their powerful jaws. Then Lawrence opens fire with his pulse rifle against the creature, killing her; but the corrosive blood reaches his face and body and burned to death. Another snake wrapped around the body of Cameron crushing by constriction. After killing him is burned with a flamethrower by Commander Shepard.

At the same time one of the Marines, Lekker, fled terrified by the claustrophobic corridors of the structure and is kidnapped by the Deacon between the shadows.

More later the second expedition explorer the Juggernaut and find the deacon adult, now become in a huge monster, even more larger than the Engineers. The creature moves with great speed and agility on the walls and ceilings and attacks by ambush, killing 3 members (Abie, Bernard, and Daisuke). when he finally reveals himself kill Arthur and Morgan with its second mouth. Finally, the monster is destroyed, but the squadron of the mission has suffered heavy losses.

Then the survivors of the crew found the cargo hold full of urns, and decide to take 2 for analysis.
Within the Ethon, in the laboratory, the Dr Savir (scientific officer) studies the strange black substance injected into laboratory animals and he discover that not only serves to create a biological weapon, also has other qualities such as reviving corpses. The crew also collected what looks like a kind of solidified green resin, this resin in the form of green crystals preserved in very good condition DNA samples from some kind of creature. The samples dating back millions of years old.

On the other hand the man who was kidnapped by the Deacon, Lekker, is enveloped in a cocoon. After a while it becomes an egg. Jacob finds the egg and a small creature (a cross between cephalopod and spider) born and jumps to stick on his face.

Now the leader of the ship, Miss Takako Yutani, plans to steal the urns of the cargo hold of the Juggernaut to bring back to Earth. Through it all she informs the rest of the fleet, which is to come, about the mansaje of Dr. Shaw, but before leaving the orbit of the moon a huge Engineer mothership (like a flying saucer) flying over the pyramids of LV-223...

2) SHAW AND DAVID TRIP

David and Dr Shaw find the home planet of the Engineers like a place ravaged by the war and all cities are in ruins.

Among the ruins Shaw and David sighted hundreds of old ships abandoned in the post-apocalyptic landscape.

Then the true God is revealed as a huge biomechanical mothership and kidnaps Dr. Shaw and David.

Inside the gigantic ship everything seems biomechanical and organic. The walls take horrible humanoid forms when David and Shaw crossed by the claustrophobic and dark hallway. Some of the humanoid figures are mated sexually to give rise to new and more exotic life forms.

Finally both come to the bridge. There are a huge biomechanical monolith. Definitely is not a machine, is some kind of complex and superior life form.
Shaw tries to communicate with the entity to get his precious answers, then David helping her, and begins to transmit the messages in the language of the Engineers to communicate with the God.
There, the creature displays enormous tentacles and inserted into the skin of Shaw. Shaw's body begins to mutate into a big biomechanical woman.

at the same time the mechanism produces a strange siren sound (as in the trailer for Alien and Prometheus)
The Dr. Shaw begins to see images of the ancient past in his head...

And the truth is that the Engineers are just tools, very similar to the relationship between humans and androids.
The Engineers rebelled against his master and creator. They did not want to be simple terraforming tools and created a terrible biological weapon to fight against this Gods. The Engineers found the DNA samples of an extinct race of monsters in Crystals of green resin.

This species lived in LV-223 five million years ago.

They have a skeletal body with hardened tentacles on the back and a sort of tube attached to the sternum. Then the armed military of the engineers race design their biomechanical space suits based on the appearance of the ancient monsters.

After performing many experiments with the DNA of this extinct Aliens, the engineers finally created the perfect soldier.

But they had some troubles to transporting the eggs, 2200 years ago an engineer trying to transport a shipment of eggs in his old Juggernaut but an incident occurred, and he crashed on LV-426. The pilot sent a signal to his brother explaining what happened before he died and the military scientists of LV-223 began to perfect his creation. In the process many Engineers died but one survived to complete the mission.

And the evolution took the next step and the gun was redesigned and updated to facilitate the transport.

The Engineers plans were to carry the weapon to Earth to use humans as incubators of an army of xenomorphs. The star maps was a trap because Sometimes to create, one must first destroy.

The visions stop but the biomechanical God entity has read Shaw's memories and she knows that the humanity is interested in the monstrosities that the Engineers have created (as well as other races in the past) and now the Alien ship is headed to LV-223 to stop this threat.
At that moment, David discovers another kind of Urn. Inside he can see a black substance bubbling similar to that contained in other Urns.

This new liquid can generate a biochemical reaction to convert RNA into DNA and cause a real biological Big Bang (similar to the Cambrian Explosion). This masterpiece of the Genetics engineering is the true fire of the gods. A technology that undoubtedly would make to the humans equal to the Gods.
But before David takes the following action, the terrifying figure of the now transformed Shaw appears behind him to destroy it.
Now a dark and frightening battle will occur in LV-223...

MemberOvomorphOct-01-2012 10:36 PMHere is the true background: The Xenomorphs are the ones who long long ago engineered other lifeforms (including Space Disc Jockeys) but the sneaky ass Engineers somehow took power & started messing with their creators, the Xenomorph genes, to make them less intellectual or reasoning & boiled them down to animalistic aggressors to be used as weapons against rival lifeforms (eventually humans). So engineers do not really engineer shit, they tinker around with goos and liquids in cauldrons & learned how to generally recreate aggressive beings to meet their ends.
When Shaw goes to their planet she will find all of this out & meet one of the original Xenomorphs who is quite intellectual and can have discussions, play chess, and reason. Shit it even wears a monocle.
Then I woke up & was on a Prometheus discussion.
I like rocks I LOVE, ROCKS.

Some very... VERY incredible ideas. You should be a screenwriter, my friend.
I'll pick out everything that i absolutely loved.
The ideas of the organic starship's walls. Very hot; both figuratively, and literally.
The Engineers creating their assets in the image of the Xenomorph.
Pretty much everything about the Xenomorphs.
Now. Everything else. I can't say i DON'T LIKE. I'm simply on the fence... And i'm approaching them in a subjective manner.
The organic starship. Just... TOO Mass Effect. GAH!
The Engineers being creations themselves, and more to the point; tools. I don't like. Simply put, i'm an Engineer nut-swinger. i just love them too much. They must be their own Gods. Just not glorified, not as Weyland would make them sound.
Gods of reality. Of the physical world. Yes. Gods... as in... Turning a glass of water into a glass of milk... by snapping your fingers? NO. :D
Just purely ridiculous knowledge of the universe.
Making the Engineers hostile, again, i don't like.. Them, being the main antagonists. I don't like that, at all.
Everyone should ask themselves - Is it really even necessary to have an antagonist? Do we need a main antagonist, or antanogists in the series? No. Not really. This type of movie, absolutely not.
And if ANYTHING, it should be the Xenomorph. But this time, unlike ALL of the Alien movies, they'll be there for a purpose. They'll be playing the role of the antagonist definitely.

MemberOvomorphOct-02-2012 9:08 AMMany claim the sequel is going to pull further away from the Alien-sequel mode. I think they going to do that be further explaining the revelance of the xenomorph, not necessarily the drone we saw in Alien or deacon we saw Prometheus, but their overall design as a whole. If what we saw in Alien and Prometheus really are just a fraction of the puzzle as Fassbenger puts it, then we all are in for the climax of the decade when it comes full circle.

It's official, folks! The sequel is titled "Paradise"!
Now we'll all be wondering... is it quite as literal as it sounds?
Hehehe...
-------------------------------------------------------------------
@Warrior7
Well, i think what Fassbender is trying to say is; The connection is very small.
The Xenomorph is purely just a single thing that relates to the series' story. The whole xenomorph situation in Alien lingered into... well. Alien.
Just as i have said it. Alien is the preamble. Sort of a spin-off that happened BEFORE the actual series. Rather than after; as it usually happens.
Despite the fact that Prometheus was disappointing as it was...
I'm SO EXCITED FOR THE SEQUEL!
And i'm fairly certain that Prometheus will be treated as the introduction to the series. And i don't just mean that chronologically. I'm talking quite literally as well.
Usually, a movie series goes 1st movie, 2nd, 3rd. And so on...
I like to think of Prometheus as 0.5 chronologically :D.
I hope that makes sense.
And the actual journey truly starts with Paradise. Being the first in the series.
I'm predicting that there will be a total of three movies. Including Prometheus. Making it four.

MemberOvomorphOct-03-2012 5:18 PMWell, they can tie all movies (not that I like the concept) and still have it totally appart from them, using chronological events to bypass those movies and move forward...or not.
Anyway some of the concepts above are really interesting.
I personally like the "Xeno as an intelligent being" scenario, having mentioned such concep in another, old thread.
They could be one of the species they found out there and copyed them due structural reasons, or they might be their creations, n ancient times, and might have rebelled against them in the past. The conflict implicit in the derelict ship full of bioweapons from the first ALIEN should be an integral part of the sequel, maybe becoming the really important, connecting material to the whole new series/movies. a conflict where these Engineers might be the side not to choose to be with, as they already proved (at least that group on that moon) to be hostile.
Maybe the xenos were, as I posted in anoter thread, the original galactic seeders, billions of years ago seeding planets, and after achieving their goals they left the galaxy, leaving behind images of themselves and some structures and some tech the engineers might have tried to reverse engineer and use, but desatrously in some cases as they do not understand fully the tech from the ancient gone seeders.
That might account for the xeno-like image in a seemingly religious set up...

MemberOvomorphOct-04-2012 9:11 PMThe xenomorph IS the perfect organism, as Ash puts it in Alien back in 1979. Which is probably why they were held in such high regards to the engineer culture. But the Engineers overstepped their bounds in trying to recreate them as weapons and it backfired on them.
Maybe the xenomorphs are the real gods and the Engineers in essence were just over-ambitious titans trying to conquer their Mt. Olympus by recreating them as weapons. Unfortunately for both sides, they succeeded (the deacon). Scott, Fassbenger and the Creature Design Team describe the deacon as the ultramorph, with much more advanced thinking processes and, overall, a much deadlier killer than its ancestor the xenomorph. The titans wanted us as test subjects to test their "anti-god" and almost succeeded. Which leaves the question, who will win and how will the victors' opinion of the human race alter from the conflict.
Don't get me wrong, Prometheus is about the Engineers, but they are apart of an old universe that clearly is going obsolete. Kind off like the Byzantine Empire and how it slowly but surely declined in its 1000 year existence.
I know this is be no means a new theory, but its just me version of it. Say what you wish about it :)
Voidhawk
MemberOvomorphOct-04-2012 9:26 PMYeah
The idea of the Xenos being the template for their weapons and they as higher beings is one I like.
I would welcome the concept if they present them as a fully technological and intelligent species, not a mindless killer.
They could be at war with the Engineers exactly due their attempt to use stolen DNA to deturp and create an army that could rival to this Xeno civilization millitary...
Do it right and can become a great concept, but it needs to be done well, or such can derail fast.

MemberOvomorphOct-05-2012 1:35 PMDo any of you think that Holloway and/or Shaw knew about the xenos?
Voidhawk
MemberOvomorphOct-05-2012 2:07 PMWell, I do not think so, otherwise they would be a lot more carefull on entering a engineer facility.
Shaw said it was nt what they thought...
Holloway was a really careless.
Shaw would want some kind of weapons on their expedition.

warrior7
MemberOvomorphOct-05-2012 11:25 PMWell, if thats true then how was Holloway able to decifer that it was a tomb just be looking at the xeno carving? I mean its not like he mentions it to Shaw before they have sex. Idk, maybe Scott's Director's Cut will open the possibilities.
Plus, if xenos are really more complicated, then they might have their own Elders and culture. I think that "Paradise" is going to be partially in ruins from a war the engineers had with them, or another warrior-type abomination. Shaw is going to confront both cultures and want answers as to why the Engineers wanted to destroy us.
Like I said ealier, I think we were simply meant as lab rats to test their new weapon on so as to see if it was ready from xeno-soldiers. This results in the deacon. The ultramorph, the perfect combination of both engineer and xeno DNA. This is what the Engineers were foolish enough to think they could harness and now the xenos are going to (or did) punish them for.
This I believe is what Shaw and David and however is casted in for on the Engineer homeland.
boyohboy
MemberOvomorphOct-06-2012 12:08 AMThe "What did he say"-scene was one of the dumbest of all times IMO.
Totally "overacting" by theron, like some highschool theater...
Nope, i did not like it at all.
Voidhawk
MemberOvomorphOct-06-2012 12:11 AMMaybe, by the time they were still working that base it could be possible that we were considered rat labs, but I do not thinbk they would have seeded planets millions of years ago for just that...
So they changed their minds along the way, and this is what Shaw wants to know.
As for knowing what was in the ampules, they knew not...so I also think they were trully surprised.
It might be revealed in the sequel they really had some deeper knowledge of what they thought they would find, maybe texts from the original invitations found somewhere on Earth, and when she found out what they saw in the movie, she says they were so wrong...
Lets see what the sequel beings on that...

MemberXenomorphOct-06-2012 5:33 AMTo all
If I had ships with the technology they had and they have access to the virus that breaks down DNA and reforms and re combines to form another virus then I can manipulate DNA at an extremely complex level - would you agree ? Then why not simply create a being of Uber intelligence that start to solve my problems ? All my problems .
The only reason why they have this technology and doesn't use it for their own gain I can see is because their is a greater power preventing them from doing so .
Otherwise what is preventing them from developing themselves and reaching the singularity - the moment when all knowledge that can be obtained about this physical universe has been gathered and processed ?
I suspect here is a hierarchchy of beings here of beings controlling those below for the pleasure / purpose of those above .
Where did here this before ?
Oh yes in paradise that s what happened - first lucifer then man wanted to be like god which became more important than being what god made them to be .
So now no more favours - no more glory - just pain and suffering until you have fulfilled your purpose.
Welcome to paradise .......

Okay, God only knows if you're lying or telling the truth, especially if you made these conclusions ON YOUR VERY FIRST VIEWING of the movie, because, stranger, I'm telling you it's CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE.
So, I'll respect what you believe and I don't have to believe what you contend.

MemberOvomorphOct-10-2012 3:01 PMI smell a human-engineer war coming. I think the Weyland Corporation has backup. Vickers even said that she believed in having a backup, speaking of separate module. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Others will arrive at LV223 in the next movie.

MemberOvomorphOct-10-2012 8:15 PMI would have to think that if the site on LV 426 was in fact a failed Biological Weapons development center as Captain Yancek implies that a beacon or signal from the ship would have eminated from the ship to alert all those from the Engineers species to stay away from the planet.
When the ship is powered up the signal would have been sent to the Engineers homeworld alerting them of the launch which means that the Engineers might have sent in another ship to investigate.
Once on LV 426 the crew of the Engineer ship, unaware of the new Deacon is slowly over taken one by one to become hosts for the Deacons new spawn while Dr. Shaw and David continue their search for the Engineers homeworld so that Dr. Shaw, like Weyland who is obessed with living forever, her obession with destruction can be answered.
Here is closing that I wrote for Prometheus after watching it several times within the last 24 hours.
Back on Earth
....shortly after Mr. Weylands death.
"Incoming message from the Prometheus"
The pale finger reached out and pressed the accept button on the command board illuminating the dimly lit module with a dim blue light.
The dim lighting created long shadows on the bulkheads of that module that dance ever so slightly with each new page of the message transmitted.
".....deceased."
"What about Mr. Weyland?" asked a cold resonance.
"Deceased."
Without hesitation the wirery figure moves to a second command board and presses a few buttons.
A sudtle hissing sound alerts it to the opening hatch to its left.
The shadow of the figure disappears into the room the hatch closing closing behind it.
In the center of the room is a stasis chamber, pearl colored with tubes and wires running from it into the primary command board mounted on the
bulkhead directly to its right. The command board chirps a sound every few seconds as a single yellowish light pulses in the same manner in rythm, perfect rythm with the chirping.
Without command the lighting in the room gradually intensifies.
The reflection of the stasis chamber reflects in the figures eye as it slowly opens up, crygogenic gases spill onto the decking.
Inside a cough is heard and finally a voice.
"How long have I been in stasis?" asks the voice
"Five years." replies the figure
"Have they they found a cure yet?"
"Not yet."
"Get me my robe."
"Yes sir right away."
"It will be some time before you get your memory back. But as instructed I have uploaded all of the information that you required before you were put into stasis."
"Thank you."
The man born again sits hours without end remembering who he was as reads page after page from the data banks.
Nearly exhausted the man climbs into bed and pulling the covers up tight as if warding off a bad dream.
"....and what about the Prometheus? Have they found the planet yet?"
"No sir. The Prometheus was lost with all hands....except for one.....Shaw EC 3920584080. Location...Unknown."
"What about the Bio-Syn....David?"
"It too is presumed...inactive. Location....Unknown."
"Thank you." the man replies turning the light off.
"Your welcome Mr. Weyland and...have a good journey."

A few more jump out of your seat moments, not to say they'd be cheap shocks or anything. A bit like the bobbing head in jaws mwohahaha. I want the creatures up a level as well, the black goo mutating anything and everything. A few answer yes like what was suggested, why we humans should be killed off. etc etc etc etc etc etc

MemberOvomorphOct-17-2012 8:23 AMThe film for me was gripping and compelling with some wonderful ideas spoilt by gaping plot holes and a string bag of a script.
Where is this franchise headed? Perhaps the best clue to its direction lies in the Greek myth itself. The immortal Prometheus (a Titan), who created men from clay and empowered mankind’s progress, is punished by Zeus (head honcho of the Olympian gods) to eternal torment, by being bound to a rock, his liver devoured by an eagle each day and regenerated each night (due to his immortality). After years of this repeating torment, the hero Heracles (Hercules) frees Prometheus by slaying the eagle.
The Engineers as a group (although we should also allow for sub groups, at least two: one interested in further developing the human race, another intent on its eradication) would essentially appear to represent Prometheus, as developer or engineer of human beings. The source of torment – the Eagle (sent by Zeus) – appears to be represented by the xenomorph Alien (seen here at the end as the Deacon, a form [some suggest the original form] of the monster in the Alien franchise).
In the myth Heracles (an upgraded man) finally liberates Prometheus from his torment – Heracles being half man/half god, himself a son of Zeus. Perhaps the film is headed in this direction that man will evolve to a point where he becomes godlike. Shaw seems a suitable representative of human kind due to her fundamental belief (which is perhaps what the Engineers are looking for in an evolved human). Perhaps humans can in some way relieve the Engineers of their apparent burden/torment, reconciling a combined species of Humans/Engineers (we are told we share identical DNA) with God. The Alien crucifixion motif is perhaps the key clue to this potential theme.
IapetusSM
MemberOvomorphOct-17-2012 9:15 AM...I mention, in the previous post, that Shaw appears a suitable survivor to go on from LV - 223 as a representative of Earth in Paradise (apparently the home of the Engineers) by virtue of her fundamental belief.
Note that the third Book of Moses (Leviticus chapter 22, verse 3 [LV - 223]) talks about an unclean soul being cut off from God’s presence... Shaw would appear to be the best candidate from the crew suitable to carry on, with the technological assistance of the android, David.
IapetusSM
MemberOvomorphOct-22-2012 8:57 AMCould it not go something like: the Engineers have targeted Earth for annihilation as we have disappointed them in a big way, about 2,000 years ago in crucifying what Scott has referred to as an “emissary” (perhaps Jesus Christ?).
We also note that the day of the Deacon’s (or servant/messenger) ‘birth’ is Christmas Day, invoking the theme of anti-Christ. Elizabeth Shaw cannot conceive and yet she produces an alien being. [In the Bible the Virgin Mary’s cousin Elisabeth also conceived a son (John The Baptist) in her old age, despite being barren].
Where they are going with this I can’t quite tell...

MemberOvomorphOct-26-2012 4:43 AMThis megathread seems like a great venture. I hope whoever writes Prometheus 2 will have read a lot of what's here and in the other posts on this website. Prometheus disappointed many fans who wanted it to be more like Alien, the kind of prequel they would have liked and like it was marketed to be. It isn't scary at all, and the xeno's essentially never appear in it. The only way Prometheus 2 will live up to people's expectations is if its makers pay attention to what the fans want.

Very well spoken.
Although i can't stress this enough; Prometheus should steer clear of being anything like Alien. Ridley Scott, and Fassbender also, have said that Alien was just a small part of this universe. Just a little preamble to the grander story that is just starting to open up.
Prometheus does not, and should not be another Alien.
Honestly, i think the Deacon's appearance at the end was too much, even. Too much to cater to the Alien fans.
We didn't need Xenomorph's at all.
But anyhow, thanks a lot for the positive feedback and support. And remember, i'm just the OP :D
Everyone needs to speak their mind, and contribute. That's what it's all about.
Keep it coming, folks!

one way to round up could be: after shaw/david/any new characters going thru allsorts to secure safety for the human race a stay of execution type thing they go home only to be accosted by the company and led to a boardroom, head of the table.... VICKERS newly renovated (after being badly squished) fully aware of her android status but keeping schtung as the inheritor of Weyland enterprises..... oh and somethings squealing in a room somewhere.... something blue n toothsome!

MemberOvomorphNov-14-2012 8:16 AMi know you may be thinking yeh squished BY A FALLING JUGGERNAUT! but if assuming shes the next step on from davids model but maybe a failed prototype on account of being too emotional (so like a woman tsk) and explains poor relationship with her dad! look at the technical specs on david at weyland website regarding just how much force their frame can withstand (from above) clearly didnt counter for head removal though :S
