MemberOvomorphNov-30-2012 11:25 PMWhat would it take to get Ridley Scott to contact this forum? I mean just field a few selected questions or a letter/statement on his views on the alien series. Maybe his insight into Prometheus and perhaps the sequel?

Social LiasonMemberOvomorphDec-01-2012 12:09 AMI think it would be a good idea to work through Chris and the other staff..
if they ran the competition then we could all pose our questions
they could pick the top few and them they could maybe approach him as representatives of the site
and speak on our behalf
I think its a great idea : )

MemberOvomorphDec-01-2012 12:15 AMit would be in his interests to at least write us a letter or something to that degree. There is over 14000 members on this forum and counting. And these members are the most dedicated of all his fans.
I hope this idea flys

We would probably need to restrict it to 1or 2 questions per member for the competition
there a lot of us here! ha ha ha ha ha ha
imagine it.....
it would be quite hard to come up with 1 really great pertinent question!
gee.... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha : D

MemberOvomorphDec-01-2012 10:11 AMI hearbye submit my question to this hypothetical competition.
"Given that the production process of "Prometheus" generated all the ingredients for a masterpiece can you please explain to the public what went so wrong in the post-production editing process that turned the second half of the film into a mess that was both brilliant in its awe inducing content and anger and vomit inducing in its moment of poor editing, faulty logic and plot holes. Thank you."

MemberOvomorphDec-01-2012 10:23 AMWhat, you don't think that Ridley would be receptive to my question? : )
Okay, let me add the following passage to the beginning of my question:
"I paid to see "Prometheus" six times in the theaters and also bought both the 4-disc Blu Ray set and a Blu Ray player to watch those discs. I believe that those facts lend weight to my assertion that I am a fan of both "Prometheus" and your work in general. That said,..."

MemberOvomorphDec-01-2012 10:34 AMi think you love it too much maybe! and like a controlling possessive lover you want to mould the person/movie you love to your exact desire but ridley scott is a busy man and has a life besides work too i dont think he'd be receptive at all to your question/complaint i wouldnt! haha be content and accept what hes produced (or not but let it be) and let him get on with making more movies :)

MemberOvomorphDec-01-2012 11:09 AMI love that you've compared me to a controlling lover. Well done.
After having watched all of the extras on the 4disc Blu-Ray set and after having seen a few curiosity raising production related photos and images on the internet I will NEVER be content regarding "Prometheus". I now know that this film had eternity and near-perfection within its grasp and that state of grace was lost to a series of follies whose details are still a mystery to the public.
I writhe so much over this film's flaws because the parts that are not flawed comprise some of the most well-crafted filmic images I have viewed.
This film would have been an all-time classic if not for the mistakes made in the editing process. Ugh!

AdminPraetorianDec-01-2012 1:47 PMFixed the typo for ya Pulse. In answer to your question, I really don't know. I doubt he comes here or even knows of our existence, that said you never know. Perhaps you can just try mailing him a letter?

AdminEngineerDec-01-2012 2:19 PMHi Pulse! Great idea, but unfortunately to my understanding Ridley isn't too keen with online social media. You'd be more likely to get Jon Spaihts or Damon Lindelof on a forum, than Ridley Scott himself. Not to mention - he's very busy at the moment it's very very rare to have directors use a fan forum.
However, that being said, we do have some Fox reps browsing the site ever so often, so perhaps your idea could get back to Ridley in some way.

MemberOvomorphDec-01-2012 7:49 PMRidley could be already here, using another username, etc. It would be smart marketing research at least, and a lot of fun for him to see what fans are saying about his work.

MemberOvomorphDec-01-2012 8:42 PMJust imagine, Ridley lurking on the forums as an undercover spammer - trying to sell us Ugg boots and lace wigs of superior quality!
Chris
AdminEngineerDec-01-2012 11:17 PM@caenorhabhditis - Intentional? Perhaps. haha This being an open forum, it's possible we could have some big names on the site and not know it. I can say for certain we have at least 2 members which directly worked on Prometheus.... But I'm not at liberty to share their usernames or displaynames.
If Jon or Damon or even the rarity of Ridley Himself were to sign up on these forums, I would imagine they would use a different alias to hide their identities.
Personally, I think it would be great to get the screenwriters, Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof on here to share their ideas about the film, or talk with fans about the story they created. Interviews are fun to watch, but to talk directly to those individuals is a whole new experience - one I think everyone here would be very eager to be a part of.

MemberOvomorphDec-03-2012 5:27 AMIt wouldn't be the first time a king has dressed down to rags in order to gain insight into social conditions. A director could gain a lot of feedback with no risk to themselves. But yeah Jon S. or Damon L. would be better choices since they would more likely be interested in interacting a little with fans especially for research into Paradise....
