There are quite a few discussions arising about the development of Paradise. What I have noticed is that to discuss certain elements of Prometheus or Paradise it is necessary to look at film releases that have been shaped or in the process of being shaped by the ideas developed from Prometheus. There have certainly been quite a few discussions on the nature of goo and what it does. To make any advance on these discussions I really need to refer to my Sept 2013 thread.
Film release dates are very important to the nature of any topic for discussion as they provide a valuable point of reference when looking at what was known at that time. I mention this because Prometheus was in production and then released whilst Elysium was only in production. The virals for Prometheus seemed to have influenced Elysium and also the expectation of Paradise IMO has been influential in creating the main theme for Elysium. My big point here is, has Elysium hacked into the potential success of Paradise by hijacking ideas developed from Prometheus. I can see this being a very big area of discussion.
As something of a side point. Getting back to the nature of goo,and what develops from it. As a bioweapon I can only really discuss this with those who have seen the following link below. Bear in mind ‘to create one must first destroy’.

In part, yes, I am referring to possible uses of black goo in Prometheus. Also the word Elysium comes from a Greek concept of the afterlife, ‘Paradise’ possibly.

Sorry I have not been able to reply a little earlier to you.
I have made reference to this film earlier on this site, in fact months ago. At that time I realised it was much too early to make any further reference to Elysium, until now.
More info appeared about the background to Elysium only after the release of Prometheus which got me wondering what was going on. Since more threads are being posted about Paradise and because Elysium will be released before Paradise, I am pretty sure more and more people will start to see quite a few parallels emerging between the two.

Cheers for the heads up on the Elysium viral you watched, cos unfortunately that is not the same Elysium. I think the use of the word Elysium is going to present a bit of a head ache to the viral campaigners. Well spotted Nostro, I’d forgotten about that one.
The Elysium I’m referring to is the Matt Damon one which is set in the Year 2159. There is a company called Armadyne Corporation which likes to build better worlds and would appear to be Weyland Industries under another name. In this case Elysium is a man made space station for the rich (the Peter Weyland types). Earth on the other hand is a dump and so there are two social classes. Armadyne seem to have a hand in everything from genetic engineering to military.

It’s the film release date. At that point I will post a thread that relates back to this one. The links in this I can use as reference points without writing new threads later down the line, if that makes sense. What will look odd though is any back reference made to this thread after Sept

If you are following this thread at all, I appreciate your patience in getting to this point.
So, just whereabouts in time are we? More to the point, where in time are you the reader. Is it January or September or maybe sometime else? The main thing is that you’re reading this now. Not long ago I wrote a thread titled ‘Cancer’, which looked at a theme that appeared to be lying in the background of Prometheus and the rest of the Alien films. Like there is something that recurs yet ties things in, and after jumping through different reference points in time pulls things together.

I have already raised a couple of points at the beginning of this thread those being
Goo, Kelper, Elysium and Paradise.
Looking at these four points on their own does not really make anything jump out as yet. What I hope to achieve is to show and then discuss further is the dystopian type of films that are currently being released.
