MemberFacehuggerJan-18-2013 7:58 PMI like to explore some artistic ideas by doing some digital doodling.
What has occurred to me is that there are threads that relate to what the Engineers home planet looks like. This got me thinking that besides the Juggernaut we know from Alien and Prometheus, if we were to go to the Engineers home planet, then surely they would have other types of craft.
I like to play around with ideas, which are not the best pieces of art you will see, but developments of ideas and basic doodles using techniques I feel comfortable with. I know that on this site there is some serious talent and also those who although may not feel confident expressing themselves visually are mindblowingly great at expressing there visions in writing. I am wondering if the two can join together and express their views through whatever medium they are more comfortable with in coming up with ideas of what other types of craft may be found on the Engineers home planet.
Here is one of my doodles to give you an idea how I think.

MemberOvomorphJan-18-2013 9:36 PMBatchpool, the images didn't show up. Did you upload them first to a site like FB and then copy and past the picure link above the window used for writing posts?

MemberOvomorphJan-19-2013 12:19 AMIt would be great that artists and writers come together to make something inspired by Prometheus but projected to Paradise...nice pic btw.

I use Paint a lot to get an idea going, before bringing it into Photoshop. The older versions of photoshop, eg Elements can be a lot cheaper to get hold of and are more of a nuts and bolts approach which does make them friendlier to use. If your looking at free software you might want to consider this.

MemberOvomorphJan-19-2013 8:56 AMso the focus is how engineers transport about on a planet? as opposed to off planet in space i.e juggernauts/saucers

MemberOvomorphJan-19-2013 8:58 AMthey did have what appeared to be roads although it could be argued that they were runways but then their ships were vertical take-off and land so unless they were just for guidance like the lights on a landing strip? a' la the interperetation of some re the nazca lines?

MemberOvomorphJan-19-2013 9:06 AMI assume the lines we see are roads in our concept of travel.
There are also roads that lead away from the Prometheus that I a ssume go to the hills or farther down the valley.
It would make sense that there would be conecting tunnels to the other domes.
Yes even a helicopter would be nice to use to go exploring.

MemberOvomorphJan-19-2013 10:25 AMyeh they like tunnels maybe they live like ants and their cities are masses of underground spaces connected by tunnels and underground waterways maybe they dont need the equivalent of cars etc because they dont rush about like us maybe the only powerful vehicles they use are the juggernauts and the rest of the times its boats/gondolas or shanks's pony (walking)

MemberOvomorphJan-19-2013 10:28 AMor maybe when the juggernaut lands the central round section which contaiins the orrey/pilot room comes out like the batpod from the tumbler! a sort of squat saucer craft for in atmosphere travel as compared to the large scale saucer-liner that the elders used when they came to earth

MemberOvomorphJan-19-2013 11:24 AMYou have some great ideas caenorhabhditis. I can't wait for your novel filled with the Engineer's details.
If the Engineers are loners then a one person transport might be enough. There may be enough of the heavy duty transports(wheeled) left over from the construction phase.
In watching the Weyland crew meeting video in the background Weyland Corp. vehicles were proudly going about their business. They could be a start, unless they were Engineer transportation items that were sort of given to Weyland to speed up Earth's development.

MemberOvomorphJan-19-2013 11:47 PMI see it now. I thought it was a diamond because of the reflections and also thought it was a digital signature, which is why I posted my earlier post. Sorry for the mixup. Its cool btw! Have you taken a look at David Levy's work? He was hired to do a lot of digital art for Prometheus and works for a company who has many contracts in the entertainment business including Scottfree productions. They offer educational materials and downloads to use along with instructions for how to create digital art paintings like they churned out so fast while filming Prometheus as you can see in the documentary 'The furious Gods". Look him up when you get a chance.

MemberFacehuggerJan-20-2013 3:39 PM@ Caernorhabhditis, I like that drawing of the boat, especially the detailing on the front of the boat.
I thought I'd have a do at a biomech hover thingy, something you mentioned earlier. I'm just at the early stages of trying out a couple of ideas, only thing is it looks more like a nightmare vision of my mums old iron. lol
