The answer to your question is yes, it shows warring factions within the engineers and is consistent with Prometheus and Alien. What is the significance? We have debated about the motives regarding why the engineers made us and then changed their minds later on. If there are 2 factions then that could provide a solution to the problem: One faction is responsible for creating us and another wanted us dead.

BTW, It also suggests that Shaw and David are walking right into a conflict in 'Paradise', the sequel to Prometheus. That could get very dangerous and provide us with some high drama that some script writer could easily work with. Sounds encouraging to me.

Maybe this was just an easter egg and wont matter in Ridley Scott's Paradise vision.

Thats certainly possible, considering how, as I stated under the subject of cannon, that directors tend to go wtih their creative vision, but on the other hand, a war between conflicting factions would give a screen writer lots to write about, and I was concerned what possible plot they could comprise for Paradise before I heard this. With this theme, many story ideas are possible, I could even write as script based upon this huge development involving Shaw, David and the warring engineer factions. For example the good faction might welcome them with open arms while the evil one may immediately try to kill them, or how about the apparently good faction turns out to be the truly evil one and so on.... The possible story variations are endless.

I've not played a game since Fight Night Champion first came out. But, after hearing that this game was supposedly an official sequel to the films, i had to have a gander. The game is good fun! Even if the graphics are a bit dodgy. I bought the game assuming that it may offer some clues to the Space Jockey misteries. To no avail. Until i logged on here and looked at a few posts giving links to that Easter Egg (btw why are they called easter eggs?). I still remember an artical or interview with Ridley from years ago, where he stated that he always thought that that Space Jockey had been involved in an ancient war, the juggernaut is a battle ship and that cargo of eggs is his weapons. That easter egg, however cheesy, brought those words by Ridley flooding back. It defo does make sense that there is two factions of Engineers. The saucer shaped ship at the beggining of Prometheus, being different to the juggernaut, is a clear indication IMO that there are two different factions or races. SPOILER ALERT.. One thing that really bugs me about Alien Colonial Marines is that when you first enter the derelict via the egg silo and look up, there is no hole (that Kane came through?) In the derelicts pilot chamber there is no acid burn hole next to the SJ chair? There is also no chest burster hole in the SJs chest? Is that a different crashed juggernaut? Or did the creators of the game just think it wasn't important? Also, Hicks is still alive? WTF! Pretty cheesy!

Yeah they found a way to be very thinly consistent with Alien3 while allowing the Sulaco and Hicks to survive. If only they had found a way to save Newt too but then Ripley would have died in vane so they could never in the end form a family, which is what JamesCameron was setting up and we all invested our hope in at the end of Aliens.
