I started a thread a wee while ago about the xeno being designed as a DNA harvestor . After going through all is cycles eg egg----face hugger----chestbuster----xeno--------then victims being transformed into eggs. After a while the all the 'resources' are used up the xenos would all die out leaving only the eggs. At a later date the eggs would be harvested by the engineers . By some method the DNA is extracted from the eggs . I think there is a process where the extracted DNA is processed . All the good DNA eg; longevity, characteristic of strength, intelligence and so on ( i hope you understand what i mean) leaving behind the bad DNA eg diseases, weakness and so on. This bad DNA is the black goo which is in the cylinders. your thoughts ( i have my head gear on , so go for it) lol

I, right now, don't think they have "good" and "bad" components of the goo separated yet or they just plain don't do that

I like this theory because there is something about of the reasons for the creation, and personaly I don't buy that of "We made you because we could". There is nothing in the world without a reason, then we can think: maybe these Engineers have lost the ability to reproduce, are trying to accelerate their evolution and improve their genetic or just for the progress of their science.

True they have to be somekind of thing that transforms and not just terraforming either. They (xenos) could be used like using a swarm of insects to clean up any biological material. I agree with cuponator3000 its already been engineered and refined to a point where it has to be used as either a utility or weapon.

In fact, the Earth may not be the only laboratory. I like to think that the xenos are more than simple biological weapons, because there must be a more important utility.

I like the idea of them using the harvested DNA to enhance their own genetic make-up. There would be lots of other seeded planet at various stages of development. After the DNA has developed to its final stage a few xenos get released and the harvest begins. If the length of someone life is encoded in there DNA, i guess it could be isolated and collected, this maybe a key ingredient for the engineers immortality.

maybe it's more like, "We made you because WE HAD TO," to avoid what is a galaxy-wide XENO infection of Humanoid Cargo. LV-426's driver might have been 'the last of his race' i.e. all xeno'd. For me; the AMPULES are the distilled content of Humanoid DNA i.e. a planet's worth per ampule; the EGGS are the dormant state of Xeno-ness (the fungal plant that produces sporadic 'fruiting bodies' i.e. xenos. Though, then I can't work out why there's a Xeno altarpiece in the Ampule Room. Anyone?
