MemberPraetorianFeb-04-2017 2:08 AMTo anyone who has seen both films probably noticed that they have a lot in common. They are both apparent prequels to the Alien franchise. They both revolve around ancient civilizations. Both indicate that man was either created or uplifted by an extraterrestrial species. Both featured The Weyland Corporation along with their benefactors looking to prolong there life. Both Peter Weyland and Charles Weyland put together a team to investigate something of Alien origin that links us to the stars(they even have startlingly similar briefings.)Both encounter pyramids with a horrifying secret that can lead to the end of mankind(the pyramid i know was borrowed from Dan O'Bannons Star Beast.)So i was wondering if these parallels were intentional or coincidence. If intentional, does this make AVP canon? We already know thanks to the Fire And Stone series that the predators are an official part of the alien universe now.Would Charles Weyland be Peter Weyland's father or grandfather?

MemberNeomorphFeb-04-2017 2:20 AMfrom my understanding avp has been kicked from canon altogether. Charles weyland creates weyland industries where peter weyland creates weyland corporation. avp also kinda sticks 2 fingers up at the whole plight that ripley goes through in the alien series. she dies just for the realisation that infact her sacrifice is completely in vain as aliens have been on earth for thousands of years. the connection between the 2 is interesting but I think using the pyramid idea is the best visual way to connect ancient humans with extra terrestrial beings. I love the concept of avp but id much rather it was done in space, in the future and the predators stumble upon the xeno rather than harvesting them. the could remake the avp universe but more thought has to be put into it I think and not made as a stupid 'we see hee haw' pg13

MemberPraetorianFeb-04-2017 2:29 AMGood eye's on the differences on Weyland,I haven't watched the movie in years so i kinda forgot about that. The earth setting is very dull and the pg-13 rating sucked a lot out of it.Up until this point all Alien and Predator films were rated R.What happened?A space setting or of world is preferable. My favorite AVP story Prey took place on desert planet(i really liked the desert because i live in one.)Still AVP is a fun idea,i wonder if they'll attempt movie again m.
