Confirmed: David DOES have Brown Hair

Chris
AdminEngineerFebruary 09, 2017Contrary to what many initially thought was Walter (the other android Michael Fassbender plays in Alien: Covenant), the flashback scene we witness briefly in the first trailer was in fact David - and yes, he had brown hair. This raises many questions now - was that David or Walter with Crudup in the Egg chamber? Hmmm...
Predator: Badlands - coming November 7th, 2025
One way we could reconcile the clothes and the hair is by assuming that the cloaked figure is in fact David, his hair has grown out, and he is wearing this outfit.
or this one
"There was also a picture of "Walter" playing a piano in a room that looks the same as the one from the trailer (could it be Walter?)."
I wonder if it's both David and Walter.
It's entirely possible that if Walter and David unexpectedly join forces at the end of the film, we may be graced with a "let's bring it all home" scene where we see juxtaposed flashbacks of Weyland instructing David and Walter in the exact same manner. This of course being the moment it is revealed to the audience that they were trained to walk the same path, only perhaps at different times.
It may even be the case that Weyland trained Walter as a backup in case something happened to David OR it's even possible that Weyland had Walter trained by David himself.
Take a look at this comparison. We know the pictures on the right and the left are supposed to be Walter. Am I the only one who thinks the middle Fassbender looks older with a different hairline?
BigDave -- It will be very easy to distinguish David and Walter. David looks much-much-much younger. :)

Depends if he and Shaw could salvage any clothes other than what they had on.
All Vickers clothes were there - the question is whether Shaw ventured back there or not (I tend to think not).
There may have been clothes there for Weyland as well. As far as Shaw being unwilling to return, that's possibly true unless David was able to sense the engineer and trilobite were no longer a threat. Considering there was no way for Shaw to know whether the Juggernaut would have all the means to sustain a human life, it would have been foolish for her to leave without first collecting whatever she could to bring with her. In such a situation where there really is nothing left to loot except the lifeboat, it would have been her only chance.
David was able to know that the engineer was coming in her direction when she was in the life boat. If he told her that the engineer and the trilobite were no longer a threat or that they had "subdued" each other, she probably would trust him.
@QueenElizabethShaw
I indeed thought the same when i first saw the Trailer and i even made a post about it and showed TWO different Clothes, the Green Shirt and Grey and wondered how they would fit in with the Cloaked Figure who appeared to have Green, and Egg Cave one which was Grey.
The Hi Res Cloaked figure however looks Grey too, the thing is Walter is seen wearing both Grey Top but then also a Green Shirt in the Trailer, so its a question to which is he wearing latter on?
But when i was discussing this before i watched Prometheus and confirmed that David was wearing this prior to Suiting up and going back down to the Juggernaught for one last time.
I cant find the image on the internet, i will have dig out Prometheus and screen grab, but take my word for it.. well you can re-watch it and you will notice David when he attended to Weyland's Feet and then when he was to suit up, David would only be wearing a Grey T-shirt but i am sure one with a Yellow Emblem.

"Depends if he and Shaw could salvage any clothes other than what they had on."
Good point SM and QueenElizabethShaw how you carried on with it, but i think at the time of the crash of the Prometheus and Juggernaught, when Shaw had got to the Lifeboat i dont think escaping was on her mind.
She basically used his as a break, so she could rest .. pour herself a Vodka and take a time out to think what the Hell is she going to do now. She had at this point considered she would be stranded on that Life Boat and would have to wait out up to 2 years in the hope someone comes and finds her.
She mentions this in a way when David contacts her after her ordeal with the Engineer. Shaw prior was maybe taking a time out and before she knew it, the Engineer was coming and i doubt she had any plans but to grab what ever she could fit in that bag as she left the Lifeboat after witnessing the Trilobite and Engineer Fight.
After she recovers David, i dont think she would be foolish enough to go back to the Juggernaught, especially as David has offered a Chance off the Rock... would she then risk going back to the Lifeboat at the chance of finding either a alive Engineer or Trilobite?
I also dont think David would know what the outcome would be? Does he have wireless link up to the Life Boats CCTV etc?
So i would assume David and Shaw would have left ASP with what ever clothes they had on, with no time to get any others or a Dog Tag etc.
But who knows, if Ridley and Co have made a major oversight in this department and has David in different clothes and then not explain how... just leave us to think, they must have gone back to the Life Boat.
Maybe we will see Shaw in a nice Frock lol

No hair products and no cloths. Oh hell no, I would be pi$$ed off too. Man they would have had to hit the life boat before leaving. Something tells me the juggernaut doesn't have a shower. 10 year old droid swamp A$$ and Shaws Hooter Cooter. They would be able to kill off a Xeno from the smell alone.
As far as the Age...
Indeed the one shot the lighting is different and so you can see the signs of age on Fassbender, and we have to remember Fassbender was about 34 when he was shooting as David 8 and 39 years old when he was playing the role of David/Walter
The problem with playing a Robot is Age... bit of CGI overlay to gloss over the skin could work, like how the Engineer was glossed up a bit.
But i think that the Scene of Fassbender in white has to be a earlier model David from the past, this is assuming Weyland is in the shot and played by Guy Pearce with no make up to age him.
It fits with the story and plot about Davids journey, the tale of Mortality and Immortality for the first scene to be a David 1 from 2025 and that his memories are transferred from each Prototype to each new one... so only the first of each David model has these memories as this is Weylands personnel Android.
So say David 8 is Model 8.0001 there could be thousands of others but they dont possess those memories, and prior to David 8 there was David 7 which model 7.0001 had the Prometheus David 8 memories and so on...
Walter maybe being a David 9 and would be bound by factory default programing, and so much like a more advanced David model 8.0010 to 8.0125 etc etc..
Its why i wondered why Ridley said Fassbender would play David and a doppelganger and why not another robot? Got me thinking that the other Fassbender would be different, more advanced and maybe like Elden from Fire and Stone Comics, a Synthetic Construct so part Organic/Synthetic..
As i felt this would explain why he was a doppelganger and not just another Robot, and it would indeed be a real Dynamic as far as a Walter and David face off, as if David had a Pinocchio Complex then he would see Walter as being One Step Closer to the Real Boy maybe David wanted to be?
If David feels emotions and is more Human in that sense, he would feel jealousy maybe? But then Walter would still not have a Soul..... he is a straight up Robot even if he was a Synthetic Construct, he would be the same as Thousands of Davids before him.
Where as David 8 was Weylands personnel Son and has memories and experiences passed on for nearly 80 years by the time he meets Walter... So David could in essence have a soul.
it would depend what you deem a SOUL?
If you take the stance, that there are no Ghosts, no Spirits, no Magical Gods and when we die we just cease to exist then we dont have the Spiritual Soul
our Soul is then our memories, our emotions and personality that is driven by our memories, experiences and upbringing through life... If we look at this... Then indeed why cant David have a Soul.
If all that differs is how our Organic Brain Stores Memories and Emotions, compared to Davids Synthetic one.
I think these are the BIGGER themes the Movie is going to touch upon... The Aliens are just thrown in for a bit extra...
Unless its a straight up Alien movie, in which case the Trailers have shown us nearly everything.

"Shaws Hooter Cooter."
LOL
Maybe thats where Spores Festered then ;)
But carrying on, with the Age of Fassbender... If Ridley Scott is making this Prequel about David, then that means he would have to plan making the sequel Sooner rather than latter, as well while Fassbender can pass off young for his age and it appears time may be kind to him like it has with Guy Pearce, the longer they leave a sequel the more they are going to have people notice... "hey that robot looks older"
Unless they Age like the Arnie T-800 in Terminator Genysis

The Alien: Covenant facebook and twitter feeds are probably not the best source of information for fine details. I wouldn't use them to "confirm" anything, honestly.
BD,
So you like the Spore Infested Hooter Cooter huh? Hey maybe her Hooter Cooter turns itself inside out and you have the first Queen egg Morph?
Also, they can either air brush Fassbender so he looks like his younger self or they can CGI it like they did Mr. "I'll be back"
Rick
I just took a second look at the scenes prior to going to meet the engineer. I just realized that not only is Shaw only wearing her under garments under her space suit, but when you see David wearing his space suit (just prior to the Vickers/Weyland conversation) it appears as if he is wearing nothing underneath. So they were both pretty much naked with spacesuits.
In regards to your following comments:
"but i think at the time of the crash of the Prometheus and Juggernaught, when Shaw had got to the Lifeboat i dont think escaping was on her mind."
I completely agree. If any gathering of supplies was to be done, it would have had to have happened after the engineer attacked her.
"After she recovers David, i dont think she would be foolish enough to go back to the Juggernaught, especially as David has offered a Chance off the Rock... would she then risk going back to the Lifeboat at the chance of finding either a alive Engineer or Trilobite?
I also dont think David would know what the outcome would be? Does he have wireless link up to the Life Boats CCTV etc?"
I agree I don't think she would have just decided on her own to head back into the mouth of danger unless she was reassured that the danger had subsided.
I do believe as I stated before however, David was able to know that the engineer was heading in her direction which he warned her of. He was still inside the Juggernaut which leads me to believe one of two things. Either he was able to wirelessly connect to the life boat computer (as you mentioned) and tap into the external video feed, or he was able to wirelessly connect to the Juggernaut which could easily have been connected to something in the bio-suit of the engineer. Either way, somehow, David was able to determine what the engineer was doing without directly seeing him. In both of these scenarios, David would have been able to get an idea of what was going on in the lifeboat after Shaw came to get him. Whether he was getting information transmitted to the Juggernaut from the engineer, or he was tapped into the computer on the life boat, he would still be able to assess the situation.
Even if he couldn't tell her for certain that the two were no longer a threat, just being able to say "it looks like they are both out. This is your only chance to get supplies for the trip ahead" I'd imagine Shaw would measure the risk and take the chance. Considering Shaw has no bio-suit to hook herself up to the engineer cryo-chamber, she was faced with an obvious choice. Go straight into space and probably die, or go to the lifeboat first and MAYBE die.
Which would you choose?

His skin aside, I can't help but notice the hairline between the image where Fassbender is staring ahead and the image where he's sitting at the piano. Unless the staring ahead is just a deceptive angle, it doesn't look like the same hairline. It's been stated outright the image at the piano is Walter.
So if the staring ahead Fassbender which remains unidentified does in fact have a different hairline, this lends credibility to the idea that both David and Walter were once dressed in white and perhaps raised in that room (as stated before, probably at separate times.)
