Alternate Theory on Shaw: Spoiler ish

So lots of spoiler ish stuff Here. You've been warned.

That being said, my theory of why Shaw locked herself in the hyper sleep chamber was because of the nasties running around, not because of David. The spores lying everywhere indicate to me that there has been a neomorph outbreak.

David's research room shows extensive knowledge of the facehuggers and possibly the Xenos. Shaw is hiding, and David is looking for a way to save her. I believe he even conducted an autopsy on one of the freshly bursted crew to determine possible survivability or reversal of implantation.

David is not creating, he is studying. Possibly trying to find a consistent way to kill the indigenous uglies, or save someone who has been impregnated. 

Shaw also may have gone back into cryosleep because she ran out of food, and that's why David sent the message, so she could get rescued.
