MemberPraetorianMar-04-2017 4:08 AMI don't think there is a more polarizing character in the Alien universe. She frequently takes a beating from us fans for various reasons, including her faith, her naivety, and her pursuit for answers. It's gotten so bad a lot of us openly wish death on her and hope for nothing but the worse in Alien Covenant. But what exactly did she do to deserve so much wrath? If anything she should have had our sympathies right? She already came from a background with both her parents deceased, but it doesn't end there. We also learn she is incapable of bearing children(not naturally any way.)Through out Prometheus she loses her boyfriend to infection, gets an emergency c-section to remove the trilobite,is attacked by an engineer and becomes, along with David, the last survivor of the Prometheus. So where did she go wrong?I personally like her, after all as just said she went through a lot and came out the other side, perhaps a little beaten, bloodied, and bruised but alive all the same.If that's not a survivor than i don't know what is.So tell what you think, what do you like about her, what do you dislike.Of course i expect complete honesty,so no need to hold back.

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2017 11:59 AMIn response to some of the comments on here about Shaw being a naive zealot or clumsily seeking answers:
She is or was(we'll know soon) an accomplished archeologist, paleontologist, human mythology expert with a doctorate. On planet earth she found many sites on earth that have a specific painting or drawing or carvings of this constellation in every one. If there was any more proof that someone or something asking for humans to investigate this fuck me. These explorers committed to what could very well be a one way ticket to see what is there. They would do anything to find out answers holding everything expendable; boyfriends, robots, corporate lackeys, even their own life to find these mysteries out. So when someone can't believe that she would get all these horrible things done to her and still take it all and want more, they are the non-believers. She and Holloway went knowing they "would do anything and everything" to get their answers. I personally would have left when all that badass champagne was gone.

MemberFacehuggerMar-08-2017 12:13 PM@Gravity - Good point. Shaw going back outside for the Engineer head in the storm basically proved that she was willing to do whatever for answers, even at the cost of her own safety, echo's my sentiments about how she represents humanity's thirst for knowledge.

MemberFacehuggerMar-08-2017 12:35 PMI actually pretty much disliked her all in all. Think she was casted wrong. Noomi is a good actress, but there's something about her that is wrong, the accent maybe being Swedish and all... Anyway, also that she hook up with a looser like Holloway also I find a bit odd. Wished he got chestbursted, haha ;D

MemberPraetorianMar-08-2017 4:36 PMThoughts_Dreams:I thank you for your criticism and respect your opinion. You're correct,Lex didn't really do anything stupid in AVP at least not that i remember. My criticism towards her is that she was a bland Ripley clone that didn't really do anything remarkable, her character ark is just kinda silly.Though i suppose the same can be said of Shaw.

MemberOvomorphMar-08-2017 4:44 PMIf I had to chose my fave Alien franchise female I'd chose Ripley over Shaw; but then again I may be bias because I grew up with Ripley and we only have Shaw for one (perhaps 2) of the films. I am still hoping they bring back Newt I think she'd kick a** but it also would change the course of events (alien 3 and beyond) but I do love Shaw I can identify with her as a survivor and a woman of faith

MemberPraetorianMar-08-2017 4:48 PMThat of course I agree On.I vastly prefer Ripley to Shaw, but i also happen to like Shaw regardless.
