So I started playing Aliens: Colonial Marines, and I honestly don't get why people hate it so much, I mean yes the plot doesn't really exist but it's there and is better than other entries into the Alien universe canon *Cough*Resurrection*Cough*, yes the AI is VERY stupid, but it is not the worst I have seen, and honestly it's more interesting than modern Call Of Duty games because there are unique designs that exist only in the game universe, now yes I realize that takes away from the realism but people don't play video games for the realism factor they play to escape reality, and that is just what this game does and it has decent graphics, if you hate the game why, I am legitimately curious as to why this game

I agree with you. I actually enjoy it too. I don't know why it got panned so badly. It's more fun than Alien Isolation, IMHO> If the graphics were upgraded to the quality of A:I, it would be even better.

I remember waiting for this game, and even bought the limited edition.  At launch, it was pretty rough...Their were so many issues with the graphics, gameplay and many other areas.  Over time patches did improve the game and it may be worth a re-play.

The game feels like its unfinished.I mean Its filled with bugs and glitches to a shameful level, has poor AI and lots of other unfinished things.

Thats because gearbox worked more on borderlands 2 than on Aliens colonial marines. If they spent more time on Aliens colonial marines the game would be better.

This question has been brought up a few times and everytime I give the same answer: Yes

The aliens lose get replaced by the corporation as the main enemy of the game like halfway through level 2, the AI has the intelliengence of PS1 AI and you can pretty much run right by any alien that you see. Wasn't anything the game showed, the multiplayer was ridiculously unbalanced since you get xp for the marine during story.

Just a bad game. Is it the worst game ever? No, but it's still bad, really bad.

From a games point of view it's not the best to be honest. So, yeah it kind of is bad. It's playable but it's not really good.

Not to double post. For some reason my edit button doesn't work. If you are looking for a great alien video game. Alien Isilolation is a must buy. It's a great video game in general regardless if it's an alien game. It got good reviews.

That is the one you want to play. Alien isolation. It's very scary though:)

splatterpunk yeah I have played Alien: Isolation, it's great, it's just after playing through it three times it loses it's charm, still enjoyable but lacks the magic of the first run-through.

I just finished Alien isolation, and I like a A LOT. If you love Alien setting, storyline and atmosphere, ALIEN ISOLATION definitely would bring you tons of fun.

I still want to try Colonial Marines. Is it better than AVP2?

I was very into it at that time when it released. I pre-ordered it and when i finally got it and started playing i just felt deceived.

Randy Pitchford just lied into our faces. He said:

“It feels like a dream come true. If you’d told me when I first saw Aliens, or if you’d told me even after viewing it for the 50th time, that some day I would be here with 20th Century Fox and they would actually trust my studio and I to add to the canon and the mythology, I never would have never believed you. There’s no way! It really is a dream project.”

They showed not existing things when they released trailers and gameplays. The final product was so disappointing to me. SEGA just payed them and they invented the money into Borderlands 2. It should be a great sequel game to Aliens because they said it is officially canon.

The atmosphere was good, but all the other things were bad at all. The animations, the graphics, the physics, the cheesy dialogues made it to the worst Alien game.

Ahh, and it was a freaking dream project, if it was developed by Gearbox as it should have been and not by TimeGate maybe it was proper game.

Yes, o'neill does not do anything but gets in the way of your shot, the game is glitchy, characters dialogue is corny, this game could have been way better.

It's a game that felt about 10 years too late. Had it come out around the time of AVP 2, sure it might have been ok. But there is no excuses for making a game that dated today especially with the amount of High-Res artwork and marketing that was used to try and hides its graphical, and AI flaws. It was also very buggy plagued with textures glitches, animation flaws and teleporting xenos that got stuck in the walls. It had the old animation distance rendering fog almost as bad as a Nintendo 64 game (im not bagging on N64 here).

Fix all that up and it would've decent. I really tried to enjoy it and look past its flawed, but it still disappointed.

IRaptus funny you should say that; There was a game for Playstation 2 being developed called "Aliens: Colonial Marines." Back in 2004 seriously it was going to happen but entered development hell. ;-;

@Resurgence that's funny. Must've just taken them 11-12 years to make the perfect PS2 game.....

Gearbox screwed up badly with all the false marketing, only beaten by one of the greatest lies in video game history: No Man's Sky.

Alien Covenant seems like a good resource to build a Colonial type horror war game

It's mediocre at best.I'm ironically playing through it for the fourth time and it gets worse every time I play it.Also it's the first time I've played it since I played Alien Isolation which I'm also currently playing for the fourth time.Is has almost zero redeeming qualities

@ninXeno, gidday mate, you hit the nail on the head, also the xeno gameplay is as scary as a paper mache' creature from lost in space.

It took me ages to place the sentry gun down on the spot, it did not respond and by that time i was getting severely peeved with it, Alien Isolation i give 9 out of 10, there is 1 or 2 very minor niggles but nothing to blow steam about.

Along with the false advertising, poor AI, and uninteresting characters, Colonial Marines also made little sense in some areas: a human can drive back an attacking alien with their own hands? Hadley's Hope was nuked, yet so much of it remained, including a cocooned Hudson?

It was a good concept to do an Aliens game to the tune of Call of Duty, and I'll grant it some appreciation for a few moments (another trip into the derelict in one scene, evading a giant alien while unarmed in another). Overall it felt like a cheap cash-grab.

Alien: Isolation I love through and through.  I imagine a number of gamers were turned off by the inability to unleash a torrent of bullets at thousands of disposable aliens. Alien is my favorite of the films, and this game was a satisfying tribute. It's also the first Alien game I've played since the old Commodore 64 version which was based around the original film. It's also refreshing to play an alien game that doesn't have to involve space marines and Predators.

Oh my God apparently in an update when you're in the level "Derelict Reclaimed" Fifield's "PUP'S" make an appearance even though this is the Origin and not the Juggernaut not to mention that they don't appear when you're in the Origin before
