Engineers in Prometheus Genetically Altered for Space Travel?

We've known for a while now that the Engineers in Alien Covenant don't look quite like the ones we saw in Prometheus. Is it possible that the black eyed, white skinned Engineers seen in Prometheus had their genetics altered with the Black Goo or possibly augmented by DNA splicing with the Xenomorphs? This could make them tougher for space travel and could explain how they are so powerful & vicious. Is the Black Goo some type of byproduct from centuries old gene splicing practices of the Engineers and Xenos? The mind reels at the possibilities!
