You are brilliant and this egg-fact is shocking.

This is probably a long shot but it looks like an engineer helmet cut in half.  

I think that David was experimenting on her physiology if she is indeed the egg layer to see if the embryo from the facehugger would inherit the traits from her.

I am still digesting the fact that the iconic, unholy egg is originated from Shaw. I need to lie down.

The fact that Shaw layed the first egg is exciting, UNFORTUNATELY, Shaw is dead. :(
