MemberPraetorianDec-03-2017 6:03 AMWould it be interesting to see underwater scenes in the Alien Covenant sequel? Discovering an Alien cave at the bottom of an ocean? Or you think this possibility is not for Alien movies?
When I found 'The glorious science fiction themed artworks of Jaroslaw Marcinek, a freelance concept artist and digital illustrator based in Szczecin, Poland.', I thought that the underwater idea could work.
'To view more works by the artist please check his online portfolio on ArtStation and DA.'

MemberChestbursterDec-04-2017 2:03 PMas cool as the idea is, i just don't think they are going to use it. especially sinse the budgte of awakening is smaller than covenant aand I belive underwater cameras are more expensive.

MemberPraetorianDec-04-2017 2:33 PMI love the underwater entrance on the 1st Marcinek image. There are a few reasons why we could expect an underwater sequence Ati in Alien: Awakening. That would be so great because David is his own submarine.
David describes recovering local fauna for his work in the water in his notes and the Hallett concept art sure looks like an aquatic creature (below).

MemberPraetorianDec-04-2017 3:02 PMThe budget of Awakening is smaller? Who said that? :)
I thought Disney would give Scott the twice of it. :D

MemberDeaconDec-04-2017 5:19 PMI think a underwater scene would be good if it fits any purpose....
If David wishes to set up a Colony we have to ask WHY if he does not want to destroy them, but sure enough the Xenomorph must come into play at some point, and maybe David could take his creations to a under water Cave System.
I think this could be interesting if we go the route that David actually wants to go about and become some kind of King/Ruler of Origae-6 and i Predict we wont be far off that, i feel he will be seen as a Savior of the Covenant Mission, as he will cover his tracks and maybe give these Colonist a NEW Start.
But what if some manage to explore a underground Cave System that has Eggs and inadvertently unleash the Horrors on the Colony?
Another way to use a Underwater Scene? ATLANTIS if Origae-6 is a place that long long ago had a Humanoid Civilization but is long gone with no signs, until a Underwater Discovery is made.

MemberPraetorianDec-04-2017 8:14 PMAti there are some impressive ship designs there!!
I had to LOL at this one though
Is that a Space Jockey bahahah XD
An underwater encounter would be cool, just imagine a water ripple reflected chamber with a Xeno running around. The Bioshock series successfully did some very tense, and gripping underwater horrors.
Something like this by MacRebisz perhaps

That is a brilliant idea! I'd be glad to see a similar scenario!

Thx for the images. The first looks great.
'a certain film director' - That's true, but I don't want an underwater movie, just some scenes, as you can see in the first painting, it has a fantastic atmosphere in my opinion.

MemberNeomorphDec-05-2017 9:58 PMwould have been good if theyd kept the opening scene from alien engineers for Prometheus

MemberNeomorphDec-06-2017 7:35 AMYeah, if they are well done and make sense to the story then sure. AR is the only movie in the franchise where they have had an underwater scene this far if I remember it correctly. It had some claustrophobic thing going on but it could be done in another way, please don't copy it. What about mutated lifeforms that live in the water that are mutated by a disaster that involves the goo? Space piranhas on steroids?
One thing that I like about the alien movies is that they have different environments in each movie. In Alien you have the ship, the SJ ship, and the planet. In Aliens You have Hadley's hope and inside the ship and so on. Different environments is the thing in each alien movie this far that they have in common.
Some people here have said that you need something new in the next movie so a planet with a lot of water and caves or what ever could be interesting.
Ali81: I agree, that scene would have made more sense that way.
