Alien: Fox Involved in Development of Game

New Development

"In the videogame realm, the Alien franchise has had more than a few ups and downs in recent years, from the groan-worthy disappointment of Aliens: Colonial Marines to the outright terror of Alien: Isolation.

While the future of the cinematic franchise is in a bit of doubt following the tepid performance of Alien Covenant, 20th Century Fox is evidently keen to keep pressing into new corners of that universe in videogames. It's certainly willing to spend decent money on the exercise: the studio recently purchased a firm called Cold Iron, a games company set up by former developers at Cryptic.

Cold Iron's first bit of business under Fox's ownership will be to create a shooter based on the Alien franchise - a game designed to "explore areas of the universe that fans haven't gotten to experience".

It's worth pointing out that this will be the first Alien game to be overseen by Fox - previous games, Colonial Marines and Isolation, were published by Sega and handled by Gearbox Software and Creative Assembly. It's too early to say what Cold Iron's planning at this early stage, though according to Eurogamer, the studio's designers have form in the shooter genre: personnel there have previously worked on such hits as Doom, Bioshock Infinite and Metroid Prime 3. All of those games were, in their own individual ways, dark, intense and sci-fi themed.

What seems like a bit of a pity is that, for the immediate future at least, Creative Assembly won't be getting a shot at making a further game in the franchise. Although it had its flaws, Alien Isolation was a bold, superbly-made survival experience, and made with an obvious affection for the Alien franchise. That the game didn't sell as expected has, it seems, put Creative Assembly out of the running for the time being.

Here's hoping Fox doesn't learn the wrong things from Isolation's slow sales, and commission some kind of ultra-violent bug hunt with little in the way of that earlier game's creeping dread.

More on this as we get it." (Source)

Looking forward to it.

I think the studio behind the game would have had to have some back and forth conversation with the Project Idea, where it will be set and what it will be about at a time prior to the Disney Take Over.

I think maybe FOX can still operate under the Disney Brand, it does not mean no more FOX, just FOX will be a subsidiary to Disney, so Disney will have a lot of say, but it does not mean movies and games will be branded by Disney alone..   Well this is what i can assume.

Regarding to the HR Giger Rights, they would have to make a agreement with the Giger Estate, i am not 100% how much Giger Aesthetic they can or cant use.  I would assume any Juggernaught/Derelict any Xenomorph, Face Hugger or Egg would NOT need any permission from the Giger estate, but i think they have to in the credits, credit Original Design HR Giger.
