The odd studio did an amazing job with it, nicely detailed.
That Engineer is over 7 feet tall (still without the stand). Just compare his head with the makeup artists' in the image above.
And yes, it was positioned as the statue of David, by Michaelangelo.
If you look closely, you will notice that David, besides removing most of the Engineer's internal organs (leaving the heart and the kidneys), also cut off his penis, and left the testicles hanging. I wonder for what purpose.
According to what I've heard somewhere, David had access to uninfected Engineer bodies he used for his research/experiments. I'm guessing that some Engineers died many days/weeks before David's arrival and were buried/kept in catacombs/graveyards, and David found those bodies. I mean he spent 10 years on Planet 4, he had the whole city to explore. The Engineers that were in the plaza welcoming the juggernaut's arrival were turned into charcoal, so he had no use of them. In one of David's notes that he wrote, while reanimating an Engineer corpse, he extracted a worm-like creature that went after him. In Prometheus the crew reanimated severed Engineer head they recovered from the temple.
