I'll buy it, I hope I'll find new things inside not only the same interviews that are available on internet. Anyway, even if it's mostly the interviews I know, it would be nice to have them collected in a book.
SuperAlien: It’s nice to find new stuff, I hope that you’ll like it in case you buy it.
Thanks Roger G.
I was just thinking what present to get myself for Christmas :)
"Ok go for it with all Fifield BS it's your shows......F! IT! Done"
I just respectfully told you to get back on-topic. No need to over-react
So you are stipulating that RS edited out the scene of Lambert slapping Ripley across the face in Alien and that it has absolutely nothing what so ever to do with Fifield screaming into Dr. Shaw's face even more violently for no reason at all in AC? OK WHAT EVVVVVVVVER!!!!! WTF EVER THEN!!!
Ok DONE ! OUT......take this JOB AND SHOVE IT!
We are discussing a movie that generationally literally almost no one cares about too much any more that has been out of FFFFFFF!NG theaters for 40 years!!!! Alien right.....Prometheus 7 years!!! and AC 3 years........DONE OUT could care less about this BS and personal drama.....No offence to you Thought_Dreams but I took way too much time to put those posts together only to be snubbed and told to GFMS......Ok go for it with all Fifield BS it's your shit show......F! IT! Done.....I guess I will just get out of your chat topic....I really don't need the hassle.....and this is just total snarky Shite!
In the words of SIR!!!!! RS GOOOOOOOOO FYSelves!!!
BWW: I was just playing around, sorry. No confusion on this one
I guess that this topic evolved into something that wasn't the intention. Cartwright hasn't got anything to do with this although I can see how it developed into what we have now.
Maybe the work relationship (meaning just co-workers, not boyfriend girlfriend, I just want to make that clear) between Ripley and Lambert could have its own topic but not here. Actually someone could start a topic like that, if they want.
The topic is about what Fifield could have said that would have been better than “I love rocks”. Can we get back on-topic? Thanks
TY for bringing this to our attention!
You hear that????? Dennis repeat for Roger G what you just said.......
Echoing off forever into the furthering distance of eternity, "THE LINES MAN READ RIGHT BETWEEN THE LINES!!!!"
Ask and you shall receive..............
Whispered slowly somewhere in Hollywood by The Ghost of Dennis Hopper, "You have to read between the lines man!"
Echoing off forever into the furthering distance of eternity, "THE LINES MAN RIGHT BETWEEN THE LINES!!!!"

Yeah and you will never find that exact reference either....check this out though....
"Sean Young secretly filmed scenes for 'Blade Runner' sequel "
Evidently in the movie business when things happen between directors and actors all the tabloids give it the most polite cake dressing they can for fear of liable....the behavior has to be really aggreges for it to make it to the front page, other wise mum is the word and it's just printed like you read it, "We are all surprised that so and so will not star in the next film..."
Notable exceptions would be Christian Bale....The Shout on set heard round the world....and who could ever forget the tantrums of Megan Fox with Michael Bay.
Other than that is it not just all - Rossssebuuuuuuud!

Roger G,
Word has it that her and RS did not get along...I mean come on please put the pieces of the puzzle together....
This could have come down to one bad interaction working with RS.....who knows....I know she is never gonna ever star in another production of his....so somehow mysteriously Noomi hits Sean Young status with RS.
Serious who films other actors shouting and spitting in peoples faces for dramatic effect????? I would have told RS to go F! K! himself too...the Fifield character does not need to spit in my face literally.....look at that interaction again...it's off the rickter scale!
The other actor literally spits in her face....you ever seen that happen in any RS other productions between actors and pooofffff by some strange magic she is not in the next film!!!!! And no reason was ever published!!! BY ANYONE!!! So she had a falling out with RS or RS had a falling out with her....who cares anyway she's out for good and that is the way it is!!! Nothing will ever change that.
Here is the scene again - replay it a few times....this other actor really spits in her face hard...this was not acting....I suspect he was told to do this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU9Iamk9EfY
That is your opinion....not the rest of the entire movie industry.....you can waste your own time....I can explore what ever I want...seriously though....RS likes NR so much that is why she did not have a lead role in the AC....that is why he will never make another film with her ever again...that is why they had problems on the set of Prometheus....
Now what other BS are you talking about or are you just slow.
Are you familiar with a movie called Blade Runner? Are you familiar with an actress by the name of Sean Young....You do not know too much obviously because you would be giving me the evidence to the contrary.....but like all people that are all talk...that is all you have....which is why I cited all the other posts.
If you can prove something other than what I stated then prove it....OK BUT LET'S get back to Sean Young and why Ridley Scott would never make another film with that nut job!!!
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND READ ABOUT THIS!!! There is an old saying do not open your mouth and maybe people will not know how stupid you are, OK!
Sean Young Arrested at Post-Oscars Governors Ball
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/sean-young-arrest-governors-ball-oscars-295407
UPDATED: An LAPD spokesperson tells THR that the "Blade Runner" actress was booked for battery on Sunday night.
Sean Young was placed under citizen's arrest Sunday night following an altercation at the Hollywood & Highland theater, where a post-Oscars celebration was under way, police told The Hollywood Reporter.
Sean Young, 'Blade Runner' actress, wanted for questioning in $12,000 burglary
The Associated Press
0:300:34NEW YORK (AP) — Police say actress Sean Young is wanted for questioning after she was caught on surveillance video stealing laptops and video production software from a store in New York City.
Police say employees at a store in Queens reported a burglary Thursday. They say surveillance video showed Young and a male companion breaking in and stealing laptops and software worth about $12,000.
HEY ignorantGuy - you want some more where Ridley Scott gets into it on the set of Prometheus? OR ARE WE DONE HERE WITH YOUR LIES ABOUT WHAT I SAID.
HERE READ IT AGAIN iggnorantGuy......Sean Young is wanted for questioning after she was caught on surveillance video stealing laptops and video production software from a store in New York City.
NOW SHOW ME YOUR PROOF that RS is making all these new movies with NR because they get along so great....Funny though how he never mentions her again just like Sean YOUNG!!!!!!!!!!
She is wrote out of the AC script early on....COMPLETELY ALL THE WAY GONE AND OUT! YOU DO READ RIGHT.....they have to film some stupid youtube clip of her and Fasbender for all the fanboys and then and only then do you hear her voice....so please go read a bit more about how real adults work in this industry.
"In the first version of what was called Paradise/Prometheus 2, Shaw was alive. They find her and she’s been hiding from David the whole time and she helps them escape. I told Ridley [that] my wife and mother-in-law, who are strong characters themselves, they loved the Shaw character and the actress (Noomi Rapace) more than any other characters in the film and they’re not science fiction people, but they liked the film because of Noomi. I think it was a studio call as to why she didn’t return. What a shame.”
RS could not work with her just like Sean Young....they did not get along you got that....when actors don't get along with the director they do not make it into their next big budget films....I could care less what you really think to be honest though....it is more to the fact that you bring nothing to back up what you say and then you REBUKE me about it.
You should get to typing.....Prometheus earned grossed over $403 million worldwide!!! So not having her in the next film was an enormous financial risk....and yep the next film lost money if you factor in marketing...
"Were there other scenes you shot that were supposed to be in the movie that didn’t end up in it?
No, I was not supposed to be in it. That was not the plan. This was something that Ridley added as a lead-in to it, I think."
How disappointing...."I was not supposed to be in it."
NO OTHER EXPLINATIONS - SHE IS JUST NOT IN IT!
YOU READ THAT RIGHT......SHE IS JUST NOT IN IT....Fassbender is though.....even Guy Pearce got some screen time in AC....

Oh by the way all of the other movies Noomi is in...in my opinion are horrible wastes of time...and they have the box office numbers to prove it.
Here is nice little GEM....UNLOCKED 2017 - Worldwide 6.6 million that is it YIKES....looks like your actress went back to making TV....not big budget films.....
HEY SMART GUY THE MONEY JUST KEEPS COMIN WITH NOOMI!!
Close 2019 Worldwid $60,040 --------> 60k!!! The movie cost a few million with marketing!!!! A FEW MILLION!!!!!!!
Go play with your Star Wars toys ok.....You go get lost and stop wasting our time...
BlackAnt Hey you, you are lying and misrepresenting stuff again. Stop wasting our time.
You miss cite screen crush that things went wrong on the set of Prometheus, but the full quote is "Although Ridley Scott recently said that Noomi Rapace would reprise her role — albeit briefly — as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Alien: Covenant, the director has now determined that the actress will actually not be returning for the upcoming Prometheus sequel / Alien prequel. Many assumed we might see how her ill-advised adventure with Michael Fassbender’s David panned out, though it’s fair to assume that things didn’t go so well." Meaning in the story things did not pan out, not on the actual set.
Why should he believe you? Rapace was pretty devoted to her projects. She got her healed piercing holes reopened for the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, broke her nose on the set of Unlocked and never heard a complaint. She said that you must do what you must do. Even Scott himself speaks about her highly in the commentary of Prometheus.
You carefully ignore that Huente already said that the decision came from the new higher-ups at Fox, who wanted to whip the board clean.
Your theories are just the standard fare for misoginistic trolls on the internet, please eff off.
Roger G Nice time line. Alien Theory is a good site.
@Everyone,
I know everyone's time is important, limited, and sometimes less is more.
Surprised no on said anything about Veronica Cartwright's scene in Alien where her character Lambert slaps Ripley across the face while Dallas and Ash are in the medical bay trying to remove the face hugger.

They all looked at it. RS and the senior editor was there right??? In those days they filmed with real film in the cameras....there were no digital superfast reshoots, where you could do part of the post production with everyone still in costume ready to go, for a better shot...Right??? They would either go with what they shot, edit it out later if necessary, or spend the extra money to go reshoot it again because hey it's the 1970's.
"Everyone on set! Camera! Lights! Action! CRACK THAT CLAPPER BOARD!
Hitchcock Talks About Lights, Camera, Action....
https://ascmag.com/articles/flashback-hitchcock-talks-about-lights-camera-action
In the editing room they all watched as Lambert explosively and physically slaps another crew mate - they edit it right out of the movie onto the editing floor of history right??? Why???? same explosive BS here with the Fifield outburst....maybe RS was not on set that day or just said Fk! it leave it in...the main producers of the show cut most of my budget on this Shite film anyway....
Fifield really gets close into Dr. Shaw's face as well...He is really in her face screaming a few inches away from her, spiting in her face....RS had problems with Noomie Rapace on the set of Prometheus....so much so she was completely cut out of a major roll in the sequal....RS will never make another film with her because of the problems he had with her while filming Prometheus....so there is clear evidence Fifield does some talking for RS in this scene...surprised no one understood this either.
Although Ridley Scott recently said that Noomi Rapace would reprise her role — albeit briefly — as Dr. Elizabeth Shaw in Alien: Covenant, the director has now determined that the actress will actually not be returning for the upcoming Prometheus sequel / Alien prequel. Many assumed we might see how her ill-advised adventure with Michael Fassbender’s David panned out, though it’s fair to assume that things didn’t go so well.

"though it’s fair to assume that things didn’t go so well."
"it’s unclear if Covenant will explain exactly what happened to her (David totally killed her, duh)."
So for AC Scott decides to cast one hard hitter, Michael Fassbender, and then a bunch of no bodies.....however, contrast this with the fact that a lot of the previous audience connected so well with Noomi Rapace's character Dr. Shaw in Prometheus....and then the end of AC...Alien: Covenant
Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (uncredited). She does not even get a credit! OHHHH BOY!
"Back in November, Ridley Scott met with members of the Australian press to talk about “Alien: Covenant” which he would be shooting in the country. He teased that Michael Fassbender would have dual roles in the film, and said that Noomi Rapace would be back as well, albeit in a “minor role.” However, as the picture gears up to start shooting this year, it seems there’s no more room for the actress."
So it is clear she got clipped because hey who does not want to add another half billion dollar Ridley Scott production success story to your acting roles list. She got chumped in AC and still took the money!
The seen where you see her DOG TAGS HANGING and Her picture all washed out!!! LOOOOOOOOL
The most honest critique of Prometheus you might ever read....

"There's No Business Like Show Business," Irving Berlin.
The line is fine as it is. Show don't tell. There's no need to say 'This freaks me out' when he's acting freaked out.
A WY series could be very dark and sinister without even seeing a xeno- we have seen that angle before. Some aren't into the machinations of WY but I think it could be very interesting.
Imagine what goes on between the Interstellar Corporations vs Governments...
"I'm just a Geologist. I know rocks, I like rocks. THIS...I didn't sign up for whatever this is!! I'm going back to the ship, anyone tagging with me? Milburn?"
Sorry for confusion. To clarify...
I Love Ridley Scott.
I extremely dislike RBW.
I gave RBW a genuine chance, watched all the first season and I have absolutely nothing nice to say about RBW.
RBW is an Insult to science fiction, at best. The guys behind it are just riding on RS's name, and I loathe them for that.
I'm running more and more into unwanted limitation of personal intellectual performance, memory-slips, and other negative effects due to The Enemy.
So I have to prioritize where my efforts go nowadays--fingers crossed the plan of attack solves this problem and kills the little bastard on Nov 11,
But, as I have at least one 'Yes' the way is clear and it will continue getting my efforts. :)
I'm a bit slowed-up these days, again fingers crossed things normalize post-treatment, because this is like working with half my brain functional and the other half all 'glitchy' and causing problems.
Expect ORIGIN to be released just before Halloween so it can be read and enjoyed on October 31st. :)
...and Thank-You for casting your vote. (HUG)
Fifield: "Oh! Alien corpses! I didn’t sign up for this and go back to the ship. I want to talk with miss Vickers about the bonus situation. NOW."
Thought_Dreams,
Very interesting topic....here is a quick snippet of the scene for anyone that needs to refresh their memory.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qU9Iamk9EfY
Fifield, the geologist character is explosively reactive at times. As to your point of him being a scientist and not so rational I would stipulate there was a disconnect in constructing his character.
You are correct in your assumption that those outbursts are just not something the rest of the crew would tolerate. There would be no need for a hot head like Fifield on such an important mission. So his character is completely out of place to such an astute observer such as yourself and many others.

Before we really get into this for everyone that will read this let's all just assume that I am applying a technique to another art form here - film making. So often more than not there would obviously need to be some refinement - testing to see how it would translate onto the big screen.
In simpler terms we are going to put on our thinking caps and become human PARSERS on the fly to put a better filter on this scene hopefully for our viewers at home and anyone new to the website "Let's continue shall we," as you hear David's sly almost whimsical sinister gentle as a lamb devilish incantation.
So we no longer want a reactionary hot headed Fifield or at least that is what we are aiming for in this tiny objective.
In painting there is a formulation called the rule of thirds. It states that almost all the visual images depicted in the 2D surface conform to 1/3 regressive and progressive aspect ratios within the over all construct of the painting....also commonly referred to as the golden ratio-rule....still being applied to this day with vantage point in modern realism in modern master works. Enough about painting ok we get the idea how harmony works in concert with this technique.
So now we know we do not want Fifield to point out so much. We have to make him less noticeable from the rest of the crew, at least when he speaks because he sounds like a Fk! in nut not a scientist on one of the most important secret missions. In simpler terms we want him more within the boundaries of the 1/3 ratio of all other aspects of all the other crews behaviors and onscreen mannerisms.
So lets do just that then lets just replay the scene in the projector in our minds and lets hear Fifield deliver lines much less infuriating, explosive, and reactionary. His goal then is to sound more similar to the crew yet be different and get his point across.
I envision Fifield more calm, more calm than Jenek the captain, cool calm, and much more collected.
Fifield, "Na I'm out of here," a little more self centered but not to critical....less urgency.
"I care about rocks," way more calm he is easing into it for starters waiting for a little more momentum until the end.
"I'm just a geologist...I like rocks I love rocks," a little more emphasis here but not too much and he is cool and rational, clever, just like Dr. Shaw and the rest of them.
"Now it's clear (twist - substitution) since you all do not care as much about geology and you have all these giant dead bodies to occupy yourselves with I will be going back to the SHIP anyone want to join me, hey? you staying?????" as he takes large introspective inhale of ??? then no explosive outburst and now said with a bit of snarky cleverness instead.
These lines delivered correctly, with sound effects, lighting to give a more dramatic conflict to his lack of mission worthy attitude, and the new "filter," and I think we would have had a more streamlined character that everyone could relate to.
Fifield's character is completely out of place for many reasons, not just because of the bull shit lines these poor writers gave him to begin with....this has more to do with the fast expensive shots, reshoots, and the director on a timeline with a budget on the sound stage with very large numbers $$$$$$$$ ticking off in his mind at every interstitial moment while everyone is onset.....these are enormously complex operations on these gigantic expensive soundstages.
Something like this should never happen in filmmaking...I do not think that it was deliberate as it was sloppy film making and the director did not care....there is every good reason for Fifield to not stick out as much and blend in with the rest of the rational crew.
This is true because these are slow walks through the haunted house....just like in Alien the original....you contrast Fifield with any other character in the entire franchise and nothing rings true.
Each of these scenes works in concert or they do not. You can get these explosive lines out of these great actors who will say what you want them to, but why? So if the guy is an A-Hole instantly for no reason than he is there just doing his job. He is never there to argue how he thinks someone else's art should be filmed. These actors will do just about anything you want them to do as long as you give them good structured material to work with in the first place.
And that is my .02 cents worth.
I also dont think the Xeno from Aliens was mindless they was acting as far as a purpose within its Hive Colony and they actually showed a lot of intelligence and out thinking the Humans on LV 426 on more than one occation.
BWW
“and if RS has an issue with my perspective, he can go f**k himself up the ass with a nuclear jackhammer.”
I’m sorry, I’m not sure if I understand. Did you say that you like RBW? ;)
BWW:
Trouble? Why?
I want to read it, it’s probably better than the David-story.
Yes is the answer
Svanya: Fair enough, I looked up the thread that I think caused that situation and I can see both sides of the argument. Maybe I'll leave that place alone, never mind.
BlackAnt A WY series could be very dark and sinister without even seeing a xeno- we have seen that angle before. Some aren't into the machinations of WY but I think it could be very interesting. I like the idea of an organization with an agenda hoodwinking the public of something like "building better worlds." I like the idea of people trying to survive or doing the "right" thing while being unaware or barely having the thought that they are mere pawns of a bigger picture of which they are unaware. Maybe one or two characters have a clue but don't have all the pieces to put it together. There in-lies the tension.
That's one of the truly lovely things about the ALIEN Universe...even now, decades later, we're still finding new ways to enjoy it, new facets of what it is.
David, I liked him in Prometheus, but the incarnation in AC, just felt...'wrong' somehow...like a character based off David, but NOT David...y'know??
I agree regarding the need for some truly Dark characters in ALIEN. But they must be complex and interesting, and with actors that can handle them properly in a manner akin to how Hopkins handled his role as Hannibal Lecter, that calibre of work, and also applies fully to the Narrative of course also, otherwise as you said it 'loses it's punch'.
In the ALIEN universe there has to be all manner of Dark and Interesting places that make the Mos Eisley cantina look like a preschool. ;)
@BWW and DK,
"As you say, it has that beautiful darkness that others lack."
"The Alien franchise has a different and darker vibe that appeals to me that the others lack. It seems like there is a desire for darker content that Alien always had."
Interesting points....I too never looked at the entire Alien franchise in this way until now...so obviously I have been watching this stuff for 40 years not even knowing what I really like about the work inherently.
Which brings me to my next thing. What would you think about much darker characters in anything Alien? David seems sinister like he is off his rocker, like a crazed house wife who has been cheated on....I sort of think David's character was a bit of sham in AC....now that I said that it would have just worked better for me if he was more deliberate with his evil side.
So for me a much darker set of characters would take place in a WY corporate show....where different parts of the company are going at each other....and they really do not like each other. So they do stuff and it is very dark and very dramatic because hey why not! It is the future and every possible nasty thing can happen in the future with technology. We always think that the show is about this creature...I bet with some clever writing we could see some really nasty tech being used a 100 years from now.
The descriptive narrative has to be there though....we have to care about the danger these characters face or the deployment of said mechanisms lose their full punch.
Also would like a dark bar scene in WY, something similar to SW but with just a range of human characters all dark, sinister, the music just right, with that sharp edge of hard danger.
SW is popcorn-space-fantasy...fun, but pretty much just a roller-coaster ride.
ST; ITD, well I managed to cherry-pick some things from ST 2009 and ITD for my own use after re-interpretation.
ST; Beyond...I started leaving. STD and I started running.
Now, I stay in my own realms and ALIEN, where it's dark and comfy :D
As you say, it has that beautiful darkness that others lack, and that SW and ST will never have. They're trying to grasp it, but they're basically hoping to catch the same lightning in a bottle intentionally--and it's NOT working for ST.
The Mandalorian benefits from we've always known the Outer Rim Areas and assorted other places in SW have a dark and dangerous side. Mos Eisley spaceport, slavery and all that stuff.
Still...they will never have the Beautiful Darkness unique to ALIEN, because they never started off with such, and ALIEN did...it's all about Beginnings, not mid-course changes.
@Everyone. She was a member here a longtime ago. She had requested that nothing of hers be linked to Scified, please respect her wishes. Thank you.
I think it comes back to memorable characters and SW lost me at Ep 1 back in 2003 ish. ST lost me at ITD. They didn't click with me, so I gave up.
The Alien franchise has a different and darker vibe that appeals to me that the others lack. It seems like there is a desire for darker content that Alien always had. SW and ST seem to be playing catch up.
Why ALIEN: Manticore exists:
Manticore and it's crew I borrowed from a Unique realm of my own.
New ALIEN-universe films and works are slow to come as we all know...and I sought to fill the gap while we wait.
Manticore actually worked better in the ALIEN-universe than I ever could have hoped...though hardly a surprise when I think about it as that realm was inspired by the ALIEN-Universe.
I have zero influence with the Industry, but I can do what i can to give the fandom something to enjoy while we all wait. I'm NOT Ridley scott...NOwhere even remotely close, but I do take a large amount of inspiration from him and his body of work, from which I have learned a lot and continue to do so.
RBW is what it is...but RS is a Mentor, intentionally or not, that's what he is, to me at least.
