Welcome Back Ingeniero ;)
It Certainly could be a Interesting TV Series.
I think if we look at the AGENDA of gaining more LIFE then as we Evolve our Knowledge and Medicine etc then we do increase the Longevity of our Species.
Eventually through Genetic Manipulation, we could reduce or remove Certain Genetics that lead to Certain Diseases and Defects.
Eventually we may Find some way to Reduce the Process of Cell Damage/Degradation so that our Organs etc will AGE/FAIL at a Slower Rate.
If we then have Created Human Embryo's who will have Basically NO ailments during Life (apart from anything/substances they Abuse their Body with) maybe someday then these Enhanced Humans could LIVE for 150-250 Years?
Next thing would also be to Genetically Select more Ideal Genes and Traits that affect our Physical attributes, so that these BEINGS would also be Physically Superior... much like the REPLICANTS.
If we then Discover a Way to Unlock/Enhance our Brain Power and we can increase our Memory Capacity by a Significant Amount.... and our IQ to say 3-5 X Fold...
Then this Combination would mean that Future Humans could be Greatly Superior to what we are NOW...
A Problem would be if THESE new Enhanced Humans would view None Enhanced as 2ND Class Citizens and what Happens then? Or In-superior Humans see the Enhanced ones as a Threat to their Existence?
We can assume that maybe the Engineers had Influenced/Enhanced their own Genetics over their History, and that Millions of Years ago there could have been a Point where they was NOT as Genetically Superior to Humans.
Part of the Inception of Concept for the Engineers (Alien 01 The Master Narrative) had the Engineers down as a Species who were NOT much Different to us now... but over time they had Evolved/Enhanced themselves both Genetically and Mentally..... they then took on other ways to Reproduce so that they abandoned Sexual Procreation.... EVENTUALLY them became Sterile.
Part of this CONCEPT had Carried forwards with Prometheus.....
With Alien Covenant and the Planet 4 Engineers, it seems they went for a Different Plan, where these beings had either Chosen/Abandoned the Enhancements or it could be that ONLY a Certain Number of Engineers were Genetically Advanced.
This raises the Possibility that the Prometheus Engineers either Genetically Enhanced themselves or they could be a Engineered Sub-Creation and so like the Replicants are to Humans.
To go a STEP Further on the Evolution Scale would be to look at Artificial Enhancements, in 50, 100, 200 Years surely we could have Artificial Limbs to the Level like we see in say STAR WARS with both Luke and Anakin as far as Cybernetic Arms/Hands. So we could also have these as Replacements for Injuries or just as Enhancements.
Could we end up with Artificial Eyes that offer Vastly Improved Sight? Have Artificial Organs to offer better Performance etc.
While we have Some of these at Present can you imagine HOW much more ADVANCED these would be in 100, 200 Years?
It seems the Engineers have Genetic Enhancements, but not quite Cybernetic..... However maybe they had in the PAST?
Or certainly they could have Enhancements that are a form of Bio-Mechanical Nature... The Engineers Pressure Suit could be a Example.
I think its a little HARD to work out what is going on
with the TV Series....
From the Original Synopsis it seemed we would have a TV Series where TWO Androids would be raising some Children up on a New World, maybe as Part of a NEW START for Mankind without the Influences and History and Religions of Mankind that can cause CONFLICTS.
So these Androids are Raising the Children to start a New Civilization without any Negative Ideology, BUT
then we have other Humans who come to this World who
have their Varied Belief Systems and the Androids have a Hard Task in trying to Balance what they TAUGHT those Children and the Influences from the other HUMANS and HOW these could Impact those Children and the Androids could become CONCERNED such Influences could have a NEGATIVE EFFECT on the Children and maybe lead to this NEW START and Civilisation just becoming as Corrupt and Conflicted as Mankind on Earth had become.
HOWEVER....
The Trailer adds some things that maybe show there is MUCH more to it than this.
We see some Silver/Grey Female Being that can LEVITATE and maybe has other Powers.... we see this being is NOT only on the world the TV Series is SET ON but also a Developed/Futuristic World which we are shown is EARTH.
And so it seems to indicate that Mother could be this POWERFUL being or ONE of them. If there is ONLY the
ONE such being then this BEING must either have LEFT the Earth after causing Destruction and gone to the NEW EDEN or it leaves the NEW EDEN to go to Earth to cause Destruction.
It appears the Incoming Humans may know the Identity and Agenda of Mother and wishes to Prevent what she is
doing, but is this in the Interest of those Children (is the way she is Raising them Harmful/Concerning) or are these Humans part of a NEW CULT and see that Mother is trying to Deny those Children the Religion and History of this CULT?
It seems there is a Hostility towards Sub-Creation/Robots, and so WHO has disabled those Robots?
Is this Mother out of FEAR they can Interfere with her PLANS or is it the Humans because they WISH to Destroy all Androids/Robots and A.I because of the Concerns of the POTENTIAL RISK and THREAT they can Pose?
I think a LOT of the Mystery could come from WHAT is down in that BIG HOLE.... we see Mother does CALL to something that is Down there.
She also seems to have a Interest in that Skeletal Remains of a Dinosaur/Dragon.
I think there could be MORE than meets the EYE with this Show that we cant really GAUGE much at Present.
Thanks Leto. Definitely worth a read. In many ways the novel is a breath of fresh air for the franchise, so different to the usual Alien storyline tropes, but executed nicely.
I wouldn't go so far as to say it 'uncooks the beasts' but it shows with a little bit of imagination and some risk there are still some stories to be had in the franchise.
Wow! This is really cool! Nice review I must read this book.
>>>Zachariah was then reprogrammed by WY to pilot the ship and land on Ataegina, evacuate the surviving children and warn them to move far away from the mountain and never return. The inhabitants of Ataegina are the descendants of this failed colonial mission.
Very interesting part! Also sound like BigDave's ideas about David and his society of Star Children, who did not know about their past.
Thanks DK.
That would be an interesting twist if it did! As no date is ever mentioned this story could have taken at any time, so anything is possible. Perhaps they stayed on the planet afterwards and co-evolved further with the Xeno.
Now that you mention it, it has been established in the AVP novels that the Predators green blood is basic. Remember in the first AVP movie where 'Scar' marks Lex's cheek with alien blood. This idea was taken directly from AVP: Prey where young Yautja would mark themselves after a kill. The novel specifically mentioned Yautja blood neutralizing the acid blood.
Perhaps this was Sigler's thinking with the Caminus leaves also..... you could be on to something! Imagine if the Yautja were Human descendants from this planet centuries ago.
I should point out that the wearing of body parts was not the norm in this story because killing a 'Demon' was so exceeding rare. The vast majority of encounters with Xenomorphs for the runners led to hiding or suicide. Or if caught unaware, death or capture.
Until the offensive towards the end of the book only 3 living members of the Lemeth hold were known 'Demon-Killers'. One kill was a fluke, one was killed with crossbows, and the third person who killed a xeno while trying to rescue a fellow warrior being attacked, ended up losing an arm, an eye and became so disfigured they were ostracized from society.
But that is not to say these encounters were not the start of a ritualized trophy system later on.
Thanks. The story sounds pretty riveting. I cannot help but wonder if the runners' experience dealing with Xenomorphs may have somehow had those runners evolve into Predators. Wearing body parts as trophies sure sounds like a ritual or showing status, except the Predators wouldn't become fat, happy and lazy.
Adding to the speculation, this picture could suggest something that happens to Mother after some sort of revolt. However, the clothing is different and may suggest a medical android during the war on Earth- perhaps being tortured by humans.
Ingeniero welcome back- nice screen shots as usual!

The Cave Painting could be a Rocket/Ship
A lot of Symbolism from Cave Paintings do have Spiral Lines as a indication of Change, Evolution, Life.... when its ONE Spiral it also can be Journey, Progression.
Inside that Ship Painting we have what looks like a Depiction of a Virus with Rays coming from it.... in a lot of Ancient Cave Paintings and Ancient Culture the LIGHT of Rays of the Sun... represent LIFE and Creation.
Now the THING that has come out of the Ship is a Circle with many Spiral Lines... which usually indicate Change, Evolution and Life...
While this could sound like it FITS... from the Symbolism and Drawings..... i do DOUBT that its showing a Engineer Urn being used to Destroy/Create Life LOL
If this was a Trailer for a ALIEN Movie or TV Series though and we never saw SUPERHUMAN X-Men Android, but a world with such Cave Painting.... i would be drawn to a Engineer Urn Conclusion lol
I think its HARD to Gauge a Trailer/Teaser as with some you have Dialog added to SHOTS that are NOT actually in the Movie/TV Show or Certainly the Dialog is taken from another Scene and added to another in the TRAILER.
A Example is with Prometheus is the Engineer at the Beginning.

Also the Order of Scenes in Trailers could be Totally Different to how they appear in a Movie/TV Show.
Which then BRINGS me to DK
"I wonder what these bones are about"
Well it looks like some kind of DRAGON or a Dinosaur and maybe we have to look at HOW we have Ridley Scott use a lot of Symbolism.... Now we know the Xenomorph had been referred to as The Dragon a few times...
But this is NOT a Alien TV show.... but i think maybe the Dragon has some Symbolism. The Devil/Satan is also referred to as The Dragon, the Great Deceiver and the Show will have some Religious Undertones
Also the WOLF has to be Important too... there is that Saying.... A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing.... which again is someone who is TRYING to Deceive.
So those Bones could be of a Dragon.... this Dragon could be Connected to MOTHER, we see Mother goes on to have SUPER POWERS..... maybe and this is a Speculative LONG SHOT...
Could SHE be the Spirit of a Dragon? Has their Species been Destroyed? But the SOUL will Dwell looking for a HOST?
Does a Android Body become that HOST?
She seems to have a Connection to that Skeleton.... or at least something Buried under it... she also seems to have a Connection with the Giant Hole in the Ground.
Could it be the Scenes of WAR on Earth are Actually in the Future as in ONCE she Turns into one of the X-Men she then goes to Earth?
The only other Option would be that this Super Hero Robot has destroyed the Earth and then Disguised herself to then go out and PUT a STOP to Mankind getting a New Start....
OR.... the other Female in the other Scene on Future Earth is another of her Species/Super Android.
I wonder what these bones are about.
Why HBO Max’s Sci-Fi Drama ‘Raised by Wolves’ Is Just Like ‘Little House on the Prairie’
“You see explicitly the kinds of struggles that parents go through,” says executive producer David Zucker
I wonder if that neomorph-like creature is going after everyone or targeting specific people for some sort of punishment.
Thanks, dk.

Nice body

Strange Creature, from Mother´s Lab.

Seems like it may be tough to access for many fans unless they have HBOmax. Fortunately, HULU users can piggyback and add to their accounts. I cannot find out the episode lengths though. I am guessing 45 minutes or so each? I also don't know the interval episodes will air- weekly, etc.
It seems Mother arrived on a planet where the children were already living in a sort of stone age conditions. We see a ship arrived, the silhouette of Mother getting out and a little girl was down there.
The cave painting seems to symbolize a rocket that left a planet, maybe Earth.
It seems the war that destroyed Earth was between androids and humans?
For sure Ridley Scott used here many of the ideas he had for the sequel to Alien Covenant.
That creature from the roof moves like the xenomorph from Alien Covenant. What is that?
Good night, @BigDave. I think androids like mother had a big part in the destruction of earth. Mother seems to be very emotionally unstable and that, in an android, is always a big problem for humans. Rule number one: never program an Android with emotions, he/she will resent the creators sooner or later. I have no doubt that Ridley Scott took parts of the script, story boards, ship models and planet landscape drawings from Alien Awakening. He started to film, i believe, in 2018, and he ended the production of the 10 episodes (i don't know the time lenght per episode) in november 2019. It wasn't possible to do this, without having done background work, which represented an advanced stage of development in the making of the TV show.
Adapting the ideas of the alien covenant sequel to the series, instead of a fight between engineers and humans, you have a fight between two human factions separated by religion. The creature is replaced by a creature that pre-existed in the planet, and the role of the androids is identical to the role of David and maybe Walter. The experiments with humans set in David's lab are replaced by mother's experiment, where she tries to create a society with humans, from the scratch, making of herself a God, or, a prophet of her imagined religion. Maybe the idea of this experiment is from mother, maybe it is from her creator, i don't know.
I'm in love with my madness, @BigDave.
It may not be a focus of the series, but the trailer made a point of showing skeletal remains of large creatures with pointy teeth.
People tend to think of wolves as bad and dangerous, which the trailer illustrates and yes, wolves are badass. But they are also very intelligent tight knit family oriented creatures as well. Perhaps the title alludes to that?
"And what about that weird "growl?" at 1:30- WTF?"
Mother seems to be Intact here.... not Damaged, she seems to be Communicating with something maybe that LURKS in the Depths of that SINK HOLE?
From 1:06 to 1:11 you can make out Similar Sounds to what the Neomorph made...... Could the Mother had Created something else thats Stored in that HOLE?
A Wolf to use against the Flock of Lambs should they get OUT of Control or Concern Mother of their Behavior?
The Androids we see below also seem to have WHITE Blood if you would just like in the ALIEN Franchise... then it seems maybe NOT.

Also we have that Creature in the Center.... maybe this is a Close Up of what looked like the Space Jockey at 1:06
Who Created this Horror? Who Disabled those Robots?
But INDEED we cant 100% Guess what is going on from a Trailer as sometimes they can Mislead on Purpose.
It Certainly is a TV Series i would be willing to GIVE a Chance.... just a case of seeing HOW to get HBO in the UK
That is a lot to unpack. I would start with this: "What could be the LIMITS of Evolution of Technology and Genetics with Mankind in 100's or Thousands of Years time, would PLAYING GOD.. be a Hubris? Or a Savior."
I would think it would ultimately be an exercise in hubris. If someone achieved "godhood" while being mortal, it wouldn't make much sense to allow evolution to surpass that "god"- lest he/she loses power. This comes from a POV that someone like Weyland is ultimately self serving and just wants to be in control.
The cave painting looks straight out of Prometheus. But it is a trailer. It's hard to say if that is from Earth or the planet the trailer depicts. Is the "ship" leaving a planet or transmitting to it?
The "big bad wolf being her" could be misdirection. If the android is the baddie, they just gave way too much away in a trailer- sort of how Prometheus did.
And what about that weird "growl?" at 1:30- WTF?
At 1:06 it does seem that almost Neomorph like Skeletal being does look like the Space Jockey ;)
Looking at it again... the Raised by Wolves seems to come across to me more like the WOLF in Sheep's Clothing... as in Mother is a BEING that is Disguising Itself to be a Human looking Android...
Seems on Second Inspection she with Father have Helped some Older Humans to Build a Colony of Sorts and then Once a Infrastructure is in Place to Raise the Young and Embryos... i suspect the Adults are KILLED!
The Children are GIVEN a History Lesson that is FALSE.
This is Pretty Much what i Interpreted that AC2 could be like, which i made a Few Topics Last Year on. As i felt in Part this is Pretty Much what David would do as he Charades around to the colonist as Walter (Wolf in Sheep's Clothing) Once the Colony is Established enough, then he KILLS the Adults (some he saves for Experiments) and then he Raises the Young, and Embryos.. giving them his HISTORY of their Origins which are FALSE.

This Cave Painting is Interesting..... wonder what it means?
@setaverde
Thanks for the Trailer.
This does seem in Part to have some Similarities to HOW i Interpreted where RS would take Alien Covenant 2.
It seems at 0:23 that we have Children Grown from Tanks/Containers as if they are GROWN from Embryos.
It appears at 0:10 some of the Children have a Uniform, with the same Star Emblem as the Incoming Adult Humans latter.
I Suspect that these A.I may have been Tasked with being Part of a New Colonization Mission as the Earth has suffered a Catastrophe..... I wonder if the Ship had just Androids and Embryos? Did it have some Children? Did it have some Adults... but the Androids had KILLED all the Older Children and Adults.
So when they SET DOWN on this New World the Androids could RAISE the Younger Children and Embryos in a way they Androids would feel would be without the VICES and EVILS of Mankind... well the THINGS that cause Conflict and Greed and so maybe the Androids believe they see the Cause of Conflict being Mankind but that Humans can be Saved if they are RAISED in a Different way?
Or it could also look like the World had some Humans already on the Planet (First Colony) then the Androids arrive with more Children?
Then we have a Incoming Group of Humans who appear to be Antagonist.... Attacking the Androids and trying to TAKE AWAY the Children.....
Revelation then seems to indicate that Actually the Androids have Hijacked a Ship of Children/Embryos to Raise for its own Agenda......
Towards the End of that Trailer.... it appears we see a Ship with Destroyed Androids on it... like the Working Joe Class from Alien Isolation. Where these the Original Androids who were Tasked with being part of the Colonization Mission?
By the End it seems to indicate that Mother.. or the same Advanced A.I that she is, could be a Step in Advancing A.I too FAR by Mankind that resulted in a Sub-Creation with Godlike Power... that Destroyed the Earth...
And has then gone to where Mankind are trying to SET-UP a New Eden.. to then Infiltrate that and to RAISE those Surviving Children to what ever HISTORY that these Super A.I beings wish to Teach... maybe with Intentions to even attempt to Declare themselves as GODS?
It seems Interesting... cant really say it will be Good or Bad at the Moment...
It does make me wonder if some of it has BORROWED from what RS may have intended with Alien Covenant 2?
Thoughts_Dreams Great points. If you haven't watched the video, its introduction basically asks the question you brought up. The story itself is sort of bizarre and seems like the random things we can experience in dreams.
Certainly Agree with that.... there would be Limitations to what a A.I can do, but that Depends on HOW much the A.I can Replicate a Human as far as Thoughts, Dreams, Feelings and Ambition and Creativity.
But if we EVER can create a A.I that can Mimic a Emotional Human Being to such a LEVEL.... then having this A.I Create Stories and Art and to Worry about that... WOULD BE THE LEAST to Worry about ;)
BlackAnt
"Incredible Art has always been as much about conveying beauty, tragedy, love, war, and all the things of the human condition..."
This, it tells us about the human condition in some way. I haven't seen those other movies that Scott has made with the exception for Alien when you mention the relation between humans and androids and I honestly don't care about those movies. You mention plastic sets and so on but to me it is worse than that, I am not interested in movies or TV-series where androids are allowed to take over the whole story. Bishop and Ash had parts of the movies but they were not allowed to be like 50% of it all, Raised By Wolves story-wise seems different in that aspect but for the worse.
You mention trailers, usually they don't give away too much so you got to check out the main thing so to speak. I like how you put the GIF's into this.
"Like I said I want real things not this derivative attention deficit jump cut shiny nonsense."
A problem is that if you try to make it too perfect then it gets to a point when it almost looks artificial. There are different ways to shoot movies but when you try to make it look too perfect you lose the realism that is needed in alien-movies. You could say the same thing about Prometheus I guess but I could buy that it was on another planet but that is how it comes off to me. Maybe they are going for different looks in movies and TV-series so that might explain some of it. It might depend a lot on what kind of equipment that they use when they shoot it.
You mention that you want to see something new, I am all for series and movies that try to tell us something about how different cultures try to coexist and try to solve human differences and this could be explored in different ways. What I am totally against is that they give the androids these huge parts because I don't care about that. How humans try to coexist despite cultural differences is interesting, but either get the androids away from the story or reduce their parts because that is when I say F it.
Welcome back, it is more interesting the more people that join the discussions. That seems to be some tough shit to deal with. Having interesting characters is a must to me, try to avoid the mistake that they made with AC and P where most of the characters were crap.
The thing is, a story written by a human can be analyzed to understand how the author thinks but a story by an AI isn't like that. A story written by technology might be interesting but it is not organic (it is artificial, Artificial Intelligence). When you write you use your imagination and that can be quite fun, there are other things to think about rather than what we just see on paper when we see something that's written.
Leto
Maybe I wasn't clear but when I wrote robots I really meant androids.
"I am more than sure that if there were no androids in Prometheus and Covenant - human characters would still be written as they were. It looks like it was a plot angle..."
Both a focus on androids and to have lame human characters is bad. When you combine those two there's a disaster, to me at least. A plot angle or not, when the human characters don't work then the movie doesn't, to me at least.
I'm so happy and excited. I believe Ridley did this show for us, to have some sort of closure about the prequels, in a philosophical way.
Peter Weyland created David and David created the protomorph.
Humans created AI persons and they created Mother.
Both, protomorph and mother, are weapons to be mass produced in order to wipe out the human race, as we know it, from the face of the Universe.
AI creations will create equal AIs that will destroy us.
You beat me by about 5 seconds! Yep, might have to get HBO just long enough to watch.
The episodes of the series include:
- "Faces", written by Karen Campbell
- "Infected Memory", written by: Heather Bellson
- "Lost Paradise", written by: Donald Joh
- "Mass", written by: Sinead Daly
- "Nature's Course", written by: Aaron Guzikowski
- "Pentagram", written by: Aaron Guzikowski
- "Raised by Wolves", written by: Aaron Guzikowski
- "The Beginning", written by: Aaron Guzikowski
- "Umbilical", written by: Aaron Guzikowski
- "Virtual Faith", written by: Aaron Guzikowski
I sure hope these androids have toilet trained these human kids!!!
I don't want to see this happen on this new show!!!!

Here is the new trailer that I saw.....very interesting!

Looking at the New Teaser...
It seems to imply a Similar Reason for the Covenant Mission to make a New Start away from the Problems on Earth.... in the Teaser it indicates the World as we know it has Ended... so maybe like the Ending of Alien Resurrection
Looking at what is said about RBW in that last Piece of information... it kind of indicates that a Colony is already on this World and the Androids with Children either Arrive latter or are Part of this Colony that has either having or had Problems and so the Androids take the Children away to RAISE them in a way to AVOID the Knowledge/Conflicts that affected Mankind.
However looking at the Trailers i get the Impression that the Androids/Children are alone and the other Humans are incoming/crash?
But it could be that something ELSE is what Crashes... Time will Tell.
I Originally saw this as being some Androids to go and Raise Children on a NEW World where they could be Taught things they NEED to Survive and NOT be influenced and Taught the things that cause Conflict in Mankind. But then other Humans Arrive who then could Influence those Children and so the things that cause Conflict could arise again.
