I never said it was a big deal :-) There is a similarity in visuals, not (necessarily) in the storyline. It´s the same artist - maybe Ridley likes this kind of cinematic composition. Again, just an observation - not a BIG revelation.

Just grabbing something out of thin air but: whatever is in the ampules, facehugger presumably, what if they are being brainwashed or trained? The giant face could be a tool to teach whatever, the target to attack. Like the Apple commercial, the people are brainwashed. Just grasping for straws, what do you all think?

I know....but after I posted the Spanish and German trailers, other members noticed interesting variations in the meaning of the opening dialogue in those trailers that differed from the english version. Check out the the original thread and you'll see what I mean.

No diff people. And somebody on the forum found out that the shady structure in the waterfall shot is a natural rock structure, NOT some kind of alien citadel in ancient Earth. Though I would love somebody to make a movie out of that single shot alone, LOL!! I don't know what Fox people re doing. AVATAR is a US$2.7 billion proof that there is a humongous thirst for science-fiction adventure movies. They should expand beyond re-making their old movies and invest in new ideas, and new talents.

I don't know if you have misspelled that or if you copied it from somewhere else, but I believe that the name 'Space Jockey' was a nickname given to the creature back when Alien was at the storyboard stage. Re the original Post regarding Ash having a fault. I don’t think he was. He was following the company's orders and as Bishop states that the "Hyperdyne system always were a little twitchy" and they did not have behavioral inhibitors Ash could be used as an assassin of sorts to ensure that Alien was kept safe and on its way back to Earth. Re ingesting food. In one hole, out the other I expect. Perhaps Ash simply re charged during inactive times. I cant remember on which DVD making of disc its on, but ther is a section somewhere where the great Ridley talks of Ash and Androids in general. And particularly regarding the rolled up magazine scene. Which I still find very creepy.

How about "the fourth kind"? With milla jovovich. It sure scared me anyway. theres one scene in it where they talk about sumerian stoneart, and how it depicts "men in space-suites and oxygen masks, rockets that look like apollo".

There are only a handful of movies that have left me rather unable to sleep or actually afraid in the movie theater: Communion: when the alien peaks around the corner when the main character is in his hypnotized state (THANK KORPEN, nice profile pic) 4th Kind: not a good movie, but there were some parts that had me riveted. Fire in the Sky: where the character wakes up and sees the Greys as suits. Then one of the suits becomes active and attacks him, then the little pink guys get him. WTF!?!?!?! That's pretty much it. But other sci-fi movies: uh...DUNE?! Not the made for TV version. 2001, but not 2010 (the books are both so much better) Pitch Black: very fun, but not super intelligent. Both Ghost in the Shell movies (good luck following the 2nd one) E.Y.E.S of Mars (anime) Seriously, check this out. It has to do with the last surviving colony of humans on mars and how they die. Totally awesome, with a wicked ending. Really an unexpected ending.

Yes, the shrunken Ash head thing ALWAYS bothered me. Even at 19 yrs. of age in the theater... it REALLY bothered me. A cut-away, reaction shot, anything, thrown in there but a hard cut between heads would've been better. The water spewing from the escape pod engine and bouncing off the lens... THAT too. The single molt from snake to giant... maybe there were more we didn't see tucked away up in the rafters? Not much else though... damn near perfect.

Oh yeah, one more thing about the quick Alien growth rate. We have species on this planet that do the same thing. For instance: Archituethus dux (giant squid). Babies have been captured and are perhaps 2-3 cm. long. Within 3 years they grow to over 60 ft. in length. Of course they maintain this accelerated growth rate by becoming eating machines. Where's the Alien's food source? Maybe it already absorbed all it needed from its host and simply metabolizes it differently than we do... kinda' "supercharged" from birth?

Enderwiggin, Nice post.. She has a camera on her suit in the space jockey photo. And is that mace she has around her waist? Also note that some of the suits have neon orange trim..

I'm thinking that the suits with the orange tabs are like emergency suits that Shaw and Vickers have to don before they get in the EEV. I think Vickers is getting ready to put one on while running when Janek is putting his ship on a collision course with the SJ ship.

What if the scene where the two statues Jockeys is inside the spacecraft SJ? It may be that both women were ejected in pods of emergency to escape the impending collision with the spacecraft SJ. I mean, in the triler you will notice in the final scenes that Shaw wears the same outfit that we see in the picture with the SJ. On the other hand when Vickers prepares to escape in an emergency pod can find yourself having the same suit. @Enderwiggin I think you're right, it is possible that other suits with orange tabs are for emergencies. But the other is for missions in the exploration of the alien planet.

Nice shot Enderwiggin! I think that the suit Shaw is wearing in the "SJ statues" photo never appears in any other movie stills, neither wearing Shaw, nor some other member of the crew. Hyphotesis: a) terrible continuity error (but it´s not the tipical continuity error); b) what Engineer Prototype - Model GAJ84 said: maybe it is an early prototipe of the suit that didn´t stand in the movie. c) the "SJ statues" photo must be of a very special section of the movie _ maybe the last moments? _ where a change of suit was for any reason inavoidable (I don´t resist _ maybe Shaw pissed herself... :) ).

Don't forget that Shaw 'potentially' gives birth to something; so she may loose a suit whilst the Engineers / Jockey's impregnate her and also they may simply change their suits - women being women, choose different styles.........

Could also be similar to diving a wet and dry suit; two layered. I'm sure we won't be focusing on the clothing when we watch the film though. Hopefully a few shots of Vickers and Shaw with very little on will be more appeasing :)

I understand the bad-feeling about the suit; but I think of it in a similar way to the apparent advanced technology between Alien and Prometheus; despite Prometheus being set before Alien. If you were a mechanic and you were going to meet your in-laws for the first time; would you turn up in your clapped out pick up truck and oil stained overhauls?? Or would you turn up in your new best suit and your borrowed best customers ferrari?? Prometheus is a pioneering scientific mission to meet the possible creators of mankind, the Nostromo is an ancient mining vessel which probably hasn't got an original part from the numerous journeys across space and repairs it has endured........ Prometheus has the best Earth has to offer in terms of crew, technology and gadgets and the Nostromo has working class futuristic miners......

I understand that 'bad suit feeling', however, I see it in the same way as you could explain the more advanced technology from Prometheus to the Nostromo. Say you were a Mechanic would you meet your future in-laws in your overhauls and old pick-up truck or would you wear your best suit and borrow your best cutsomers ferrari. The Nostromo is a mining vessel, which has probably been serviced so many times and doesn't have an original part on it. It is crewed by working class miners on minimum future space wages. The Prometheus is crewed by the best minds Earth has to offer on a top ground breaking scientific mission with the best technology, gadgets, suits, etc you can get.

I pointed this out a few weeks ago chaps, even mentioned I have spotted three variations of suit but n'er mind, interesting.

@Bacon Boy, well that's easy to explain lol, that's because each movie that followed ALIEN took liberties with the canon that had been established in Sir Ridley's film. Okay that's just my opinion, but possibly the Alien in Alien 3 was more developed because it came from a dog which in the wild is a more predatory animal than man, so the newborn Alien started off with an edge?!

To answer the thread question posed, IMO, NO, much much more than this. To start off, he is a bridge between races in the Universe. And it could be that to end with, an entity and race responsible for the destruction of theentire human race. I also think the Jockey may be small and insignificant to another potential race opf beings we may see in this film.

It would make no diff, Earth still would get infected. But, it on purpose and by the Company, instead of accidently.
