those aren't sj. sj looks like an sj. there's a scene where they found an sj skull. it's not human looking. it had suture marks, so it's a skull, not a helmet. hope that clears it up.

@walterhiller I believe what they find is a helmet from the suit so the SJ could be humanoid in appearance. But putting that argument aside for a moment, there's something I don't understand. Perhaps you can explain to me why suture marks proves its a skull? I just don't get that argument.

Part of the enduring quality of Alien, apart from the fact that it was such a good film, comes from the mysteries in the film - what was thing in the chair, what was the derelict & why did it have all those eggs in there covered by a blue mist/laser? How did Ash/the company know all about this? I guess we're hoping for a lot of answers in Prometheus. But will we be happy when we get them? And one way or another how will this change the way we view the original? Part of me wants to keep the mystery in tact but there's another part hungry to satisfy curiosity!! ...... which could be what Prometheus is all about in a nutshell!! The Human compulsion .... and how it usually gets us up s**t street without a paddle!!!

Regards the suture marks on the skull/helmet... [b]SKULL[/b] Suture marks are found on bones. Skulls are bone, this is the basis of those arguing its a skull. Add to this the fact that it looks different to the Space Jockey head in Alien, which had no suture marks, but looked like molted, mummified flesh. [b]HELMET[/b] Because the Space Jockeys supposedly use biomechanical technology, helmet enthusiasts argue its a biomechanical helmet possibly made of bone that something else wears (most presume the big blue guy). Personally I believe its a skull, because despite their biomechanical fetish I can't imagine an advanced race wearing a helmet made of bone.

I have to agree with SnorkelBottom. An advanced race with the capabilty to possibly create life, terraform planets supposedly and travel the far reaches of space to then use bone for helmets just doesnt add up at all. That is like cavemen with their clubs and stuff but have the knowledge ti travel the universe... something not right there but who knows hey.

@snorkelbottom I see. Thanks for the clarification. I guess time will tell who's right. What convinces me most that it is a helmet is the screen cap of the cannon in the trailer. The top part of the chair seems to have what looks like the Space Jockey head/helmet that is opened up, and when closed (to form the helmet) this would form the suture marks we're talking about. Also what adds weight is SRSs remark that the SJ in Alien is meant to be a suit. Although to be honest I'm taking that from other posts. Where does SRS say that is is a suit? on the commentary or in making of documentary? From what I've gleaned from Google searches is that suture marks are indeed found on bone in skulls as you say but are not purely restricted to being found on bone.

Applying Occams Razor to this question I would come up with its a skull. But I hope Occams Razor is wrong on this one ;) Coz it'd prove me wrong - lol.

I agree, Plus, Archeologists don't stand around medical tables to look at and examine Helmets!

[b]Spartacus[/b], I have no idea one way or the other - skull vs. helmet. But if it is a bio-mechanical helmet (meaning part of it was "alive" at one point), I could see archaeologists examining it. And let's say it is a helmet (and suit), who's to say what's inside isn't more mysterious/disturbing than the suit itself (and not the humanoid)? Just some thoughts...

Yuo know what Lyle, I totally agree with you. If it is not at least 15 there is no way i am watching it , or certainly not putting it on my priority of movies to watch. This movie comes out a day before my birthday. Me and loads of people have already agreed that we will make a night of it as they are huge alien fans themselves. We will go for a meal then a few drinks and go to the cinema and watch it, but if i find out it is PG for example, there is no way i am going to go with all my friends in their late twenties to watch some George Lucas style crap. I dont doubt it would be good and explain many things but it is like being told you are getting a Ferrari and then in reality you get a bloody Ford Escort. It is not what would be advertised. The trailer shows intensity, violence, horror, suspense, blood, action etc.... if it is changed to a PG then that is false advertisement. I will not sit in a cinema with a bunch of tweenies who dont have even a clue what the whole Alien universe is about. All they bloody know is AVP. Anyway i made my point. Sounds drastic but i am serious... 15 rating or more equeals great, anything less trust me people just give up and follow another movie.... this is not treason lol just damn honesty and i know that most of you will agree.

If they rate this movie G or PG12 then you are telling me that this movie is on the same scale as movies like Toy Story, The Incredibles, Bruno, Planet 51, Monsters Inc etc... you get my point then Prometheus ?????????????? This is just the rating for the test screening guys. No need to get all crazy over this. They regularly test screen films for General Audiences.

Sorry if this has been said before... Ridley has already said he is cutting a PG-13 (to make FOX happy) and an R version of Prometheus. I would go with that. The original Alien was rated R. Ripley said a few too many ^&%$ words...

I see at least 2 logical explanations for your question: 1. There is one different chamber for each race created by the Engineers. Then maybe (i) the chamber/temple/derelict(?) with the human head is found on Earth or near Earth (Mars?); or (ii) the temple found by the crew is located on a "hub" planet and has different chambers for every race created. 2. The Engineers look like us (or rather we look like them). Then maybe that is a statue of a SJ rather than a human.

There's the giant head in the ampule room, the humanoid figure in the SJ chair room, the suit looking things in the corridor pic with Rapace in the foreground, Ridley Scott saying the thing in the chair was a suit (as opposed to an alien creature as most of us always thought it was). The SJ are humanoid & created humans in their own image ...... then humans got a bit big for their boots, flew off into space looking for answers & profit & F'd the whole thing up!! This ties in with some of what we have seen so for, the general theme of the whole Alien series (company involvement, trying to make a profit out of all this stuff etc) & the whole story of Prometheus as told in Greek mythology. There I solved the whole mystery of the film in one paragraph :D

yeah i hope they arent human but knowing that the suits are biomechanical, imagesof the annunaki portrayed as large humans, and the fact that its a giant human face and that is indeed in space not an ancient site on earth..makes me think they probably are human... unless that particular site is a room on the ship about our creation and those urns on the floor are different aspects of our genetic makeup...say maybe a room with the central theme being human beings...

The idea that human may be the Gods is interesting but your plotting is all over place.

I like where you were going with your theory at the start. They worship us, we arrive, but our greed lets everyone and everything down as we steal an urn and manipulate it to our own selfish ends. The Gods become angry and dissapointed. I do however believe that a SJ steal the urn for us, and reveals "secrets". Then this SJ is punished along with the crew of the prometheus who are hunted and destroyed.
