@shardy...I agree with you about 'Aliens', I have my very own purturbed feelings about it, but I do have to say, Cameron wanted the extra scenes in his film. Fox was horrified with the length and forced him to make trims throughout. When he brought it to them a second time, the cut we know as the theatrical cut, they wanted him to trim again, but he absolutely refused. They reached a compromise in which that cut would stay the way it was and Cameron signed a contract to direct two future projects for Fox, one of which I believe was 'True Lies'.
Trust me, if Cameron had had his way, pretty much all of those scenes would have made it in.

@craigamore: well, with that info regarding Fox and the studio heads,
i can more than understand why Cameron would be forced to cut said scenes
it's really quite a shame too,
but he did get a nice deal out of it after all i guess
thanx for that info

No problem @shardy, glad I could help...you should check out the documentary narrated by John Hurt called, 'The Alien Saga'....it's very informative and enlightening about all four films...(it's where I got the cameron info).

Awesome post. Most of those facts I already knew but theres a few nuggets in there i didn't know of. For some reason, I always thought that in the scene where Ash is trying to cram the rolled up magazine into Ripleys mouth was so he could put some kind of tablet or overdose down her throat to kill her. Nice work yet again Sparky.

ReplydbPrometheus ForumSpace Jockey Was Never FossilizedJan 20, 2012
If this is the case. It justifies my ongoing confusion as to the time span between this prequel and the first movie. The tech. from the Nostromo (and the slightly later marines for that matter) seems comparable to Prometheus. If the SJ was fossilized (takes at least 10,000 yrs), the Nostromo's tech would be seriously more advanced... Unless the Prometheus goes through a worm hole with the crew of the Enterprise and goes back in time. True?
ReplydbPrometheus ForumSpace Jockey Was Never FossilizedJan 20, 2012
Also, wouldn't Earth be gone by the time another 10,000 yrs. went by? Wouldn't the Weylan(d) company?

he's referring, in a philosophical, witty and ironic way, to humans.
so not surprised that it would fly over this community's head.

I'm sure it has crossed everyone's mind here that he may have been referring to Humans, it's not that difficult to come accommodate that idea. But most people will have dismissed the answer as Humans because he says we haven't seen it before. And, of course, we all know how much of a dick Burke is in Aliens so have therefore seen how dangerous Humans can be.
I'm convinced he's referring to something tangible. A new monster or powerful being.

Who died and made you God lol....see what i did there.
Man i hate comments like that, that is why i notice people are starting to begin posts with,"sorry if this is re posted" or" sorry it is just a theory" and so on. It was never like this and it is people like you that just love to jump on peoples theories to make them look stupid and embarrassed. What you say above is a criticism not a view. No hard feelings mate, nothing personal to me or you but Sox2000 summed it up. 99 percent of the theories and ideas on here will not materialize in the movie but it is just such a damn pleasure to imagine and share thoughts and build this whole little universe in our minds.
My view is that there is something else, i don't think he was being philosophical. He knows what people want and they want to see things, not philosophy in this movie, people have waited too long but i do see where you are coming from though, it did cross my minds but if you what you are saying is the case then people will be dissapointed and Ridley knows that.

that's like saying maybe dogs and cats are the same species, but the cats are the workers and dogs are drones.
OBVIOUS thematic and biological differences aside, this is just another one of those harebrained "know it all" theories. ]
nothing special. moving along...
Reply20thcenturybuickPrometheus Forumi have a theoryJan 20, 2012
no its like saying bees are drones and wasps are soldiers..dogs and cats are entirely different species.. we dont know what the jockeys look like undernieth their suits..we dont know that they arent related to the xenomorphs...what if the jockeys bred the aliens for war and attack while they studied and researched
ReplySpartacusPrometheus Forumi have a theoryJan 20, 2012
interesting debate.
The way we saw all that green goo again killing people via there heads inside their space helmets, it makes me think that in the goo form, it is already part living creature, whatever it is, perhaps the Jockeys in their true original form, or the Xenos themselves, who knows, but either way, whatever it is, wherever the heck it comes from, it seems alive to me already inside the helmets!

But this sounds very weird, aren't the space jockeys supposed to be intelligent and sophisticated creatures? Maybe those monsters aren't the space jockeys, they can be one of their creations. But why would the Space jockeys attack us or send some species like that to attack us? That's reaaly weird.

i doubt this...sounds cool but yeah the space jockeys dont look like killers i mean thee jockey was killed by a xenomorph. and it looks like the people are the ones that are killing one another

to me it looks like the green goo is killing everyone and one guy appears to be killing others only after being mutated by what else, but that same green goo.
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumIncredible Prometheus "Plot Reveal" From Kate Dickie!!!Jan 20, 2012
Hello, I'm new here
good site by the way, her I followed for some time. Perhaps this issue this forgotten something, but sometimes I think the Urns contain DNA of all species on Earth, bone prior to the stellar journey archaeological discovery. It is just something that came to me to mind, obviously prefer to be containers for the bioformador or proto-facehugger. but that would support the fact that the crew is pursued by the alleged skeletal monstrosities in the Prometheus. Although I doubt it since the jockeys appear to be advanced and beings not animal predators hungry for blood, even if they play the role of villains in the film.
Best regards

ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumSomething SpecialJan 20, 2012
guys,
Please take it easy on each other.
We all care about sensibilities here so let's try, all of us, including myself, to be more respectful of each other.
If something someone says doesn't sit right with any of us, let's try to phrase any responses in such a respectable manner so as to stand out in a positive way rather than a negative one.
I myself have been known to fly way way off the handle from time to time and i have realized that I have to be as careful as anyone else.
That said, and in my new found responsibility here to all of you, it is my duty to let you all know that from now on personal attacks of any kind are not going to be tolerated.
And That said, there are other ways to politely address any conflict that can make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside rather than crappy and aggravated all evening...so when we go to our own bag of "special tools" in what any of us might think is an any emergency situation as they say, let's all try to pull back a bit first, think about it all, so when we do go to that bag of "special tools" we go to those warm and fuzzy generating "special tools" first!

Golic, yeah I have been endlessly banging on about the very same thing since Scott announced the SJ in Alien was a "suit". I am uber excited about seeing this movie, however the whole suit idea is like something that Lucas would do. For me I adored the fact that the discovered Jockey was so "unhuman like" and resembled some unimaginable lifeform. To find out it is a suit really "Lucased" me out. In fact I am incredibly surprised that more people on this forum have not erupted about this crucial worrying point. Let's be honest the SJ suits behind Noomi in that shot, the boots are terrible, I expected the SJ legform to be really bizzare, kind of like much of the fan art interpretations........worrying.
