I can't single out a favorite, but I like all the usuals;
growing up in that era, thats' my "cultural template",burned in forever.
The further you get away from all that, the more 'alien' it is to me.

I love and have the X Rated Criterian version of ROBOCOP!
It Rocks! & Videodrome has always been a difficult move for me to watch.
It makes me squirm!

Yeah I always wondered that too. You would think they have to eat. And they do show a scene in Alien 3 where the xeno is chowing down. Maybe they eat some of the hosts after the baby xeno has bursted? But you dont really see any evidence of this in the movies.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumDEAD THREADJan 19, 2012
well, if you take the cocoon scene in alien, maybe he was preping him like brett. so he could procreate. only thing i can make sense of it with

Girls don't do that kind of thing either (or so we're always told ;-) ) so does that make them the 'prefect organism' too? Teehee.
I CAN'T belieeeeeeve we're having this convo gang lmao.
ReplyKane77Prometheus ForumDEAD THREADJan 19, 2012
wow, nice question..yeah, perfect organism, right. I think they did evolve, and their organism just feeds very slowly, insect-like, and in phases of inactivity they fall in completely rigidity, deep-sleep- like. remember Aliens when they came down from the walls?
no need for big shit ;)

I was reading down through the forum topics & when I got to 'How come Xenos don't shit' I nearly shit myself!! :-) I was already thinking about something that made me chuckle then when I read that it was too much! I just had to run out of the office biting my lip with my butt cheeks clenched up!! (true story) Thanks for that. Haven't laughed that much in a while :D

i think they're definitely from the same stock, a splice from their DNA as are the humans....
but who created the sj's and who do the gods worship?
the theme is origin of humanity, but origins of the creators...?
ReplymabdewnPrometheus ForumThe relation between the Space Jockeys and the XenomorphsJan 19, 2012
I agree the main theme is origin of humanity, but it's not the only theme being touched. Hence we have one character who is supposedly religious. It's the whole Science vs. Religion. Another thing I thought when I saw the big statue of the head, was "Godhead". So at least for me religion/spirituality seems to be an evident theme in this flick.
I don't think the SJs worship or adore anything but themselves, as they see themselves selfsufficient (Godhead statue again). Perhaps they know something else about the universe, which the movie will reveal.
Another interesting thing is the Derelict. Perhaps it's really some sort of a Noahic Ark. Living speciments from their own planet being transformed to a new home. I don't know for some reason, I feel the movie will play a lot on the realm of science and religion and mix it up to add a whole new dimension and mythology. All of this to make it more than a simple sci fi horro flick with some people ending up dead fighting the enemy.

I read on the web a few months, some guy had a blog devoted to Alien, and I read on it that the original idea behind the zenomorph in the early 70's, before the film was in production, was that once they broke out of the rib cage they were very dangerous and every thing else we have seen in Alien and Aliens.....
However, the zenomorph is capable of living for century's! As they mature they loses the dangerous side and become grand architects and peaceful..... (I realise I didn't describe this very well)
Could the SJ be the older version of the zenomorph????
I'll try and find the blog and post the link here....
ReplyLexsidious Prometheus ForumThe relation between the Space Jockeys and the XenomorphsJan 19, 2012
I feel the only relation between the SJ and the xenos are that the SJ "engineered" the xenos, for whatever purpose. Granted their structure looks similar, meaning an exoskeleton look (ribs..arm).
ReplyEGR101Prometheus ForumThe relation between the Space Jockeys and the XenomorphsJan 19, 2012
What if the whole movie is about the tragedy of Space Jockeys trying to re-create the perfection that is Godhood? The Jockeys have with them the device/means/knowledge to re-sequence DNA or whatever the building blocks of life are, and seed various planets with diverse forms of organisms as experiments to achieve the Perfect Organism, or God. What they stumble on is the creation of nasty critters like our beloved Xenos, a creature that could reproduce asexually and perpetuate without "delusion of morality."
ReplyApolloPrometheus ForumThe relation between the Space Jockeys and the XenomorphsJan 19, 2012
I don't think we will see the xenos, they are not the jockeys but nice thinking know. It sounds bad .... but i don't want to see the xenos.... i want to see something that makes them look like puppies.... get my drift lol
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumThe relation between the Space Jockeys and the XenomorphsJan 19, 2012
Well it's said that humans were created in God's image. Going by this definition, we can assume the Xenomorph were created by the SJ as this following evidence indicates - 1. The physical build of xeno's, looking slightly organic AND biomechanical matches up with the technology seen in the SJ's Derelict ship in Alien and 2. The similarity between the eggs and the Urns seen in the massive ampule room in Prometheus. . .
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumThe relation between the Space Jockeys and the XenomorphsJan 19, 2012
Also Engr101 - I think you maybe correct there! The SJ's had good intentions when creating a species considered to be perfect, but perfection is impossible to be honest. So the one flaw the xenomorphs had were, they were created pretty perfectly (born without malice, morality, guilt, can reproduce pretty any way possible) but it was also born with intenst anger and aggression, this balances the equation of the perfect qualites it does have.

haha it was me with the bulldog comment over at IMDB. However I took back what I said and said she looks more like an alocohilic smackhead from Scotland. However, she was fantastic in GOT so I think she's great.
I don't think she dies early in the film, she can be clearly seenin the hi-res screencap from the trailer, the shor with the mercs firing pistols. She is in the background supporting the crew member who seems to be suffering from premature ageing.

Hey Snorks, he maybe onto something - I was named after my father, who was named after his (loads of fun when the mail arrives or I go to Hospital!).
But not only that, 6 weeks-ish or maybe 2 months ago there were some pics uploaded to a site of a storyboard that a guy that had some apparenty professional relationship with one of the movie sets or something or other (i forget now, but I'll try and track it down and post the link) had taken pictures of and uploaded. The storyboard depicted and described a Mr. Weyland/Wilson giving a speach infront of a large audiance/auditorium/staduim, it was interesting stuff!!! So I'm thinking IMDB may well be right.

Its a fake
We've seen this before, but last time we saw it the "crumples" didn't show up on the images. Also the nature of the shots are reminiscent of the scene in AVP where Charles Bishop Weyland gives a speech to his team about the discovered pyramid aboard the Piper Maru icebreaker.
