It is scary to think that the corporatism concern was so acute in 1979. Today in the West it is much more entrenched. There is no question that governments are still in charge presently, but for how long. A resurrection of regulation is required -as capitalism is the only system that we know that works, but corporations must not be too large to be shut down if for the greater good. An interplay of public and private interests is not in the best interest of society. Alternatively, an alliance among like-minded nations to advance national interests is a possibility (say the UK and Germany) to back expensive exploration and colonization concepts.

I think after Aliens Earth was wiped out by an Alien infestation, after Jonesy "gave birth" to a Queen Chestburster. Alien Rez backs this up when Johner says "Earth? What a shithole man".

Ah, but the only way that could have happened is if the Alien directly implanted a queen alien embryo inside Jonesy during the climax of Alien (in the carry case, in the corridor). But that would verify the idea of the Princess Alien in AVPR, which internet going Alien fans (myself not included) seem to detest.

One wonders how exactly the company expected Ash to restrain the Alien, or what exactly they were going to do once the Nostromo landed..Also when Ripley is being debriefed in Aliens, the company certainly doesn't seem to believe anything about a Xenomorph 'it's a rock..no indigenous life'

Er Yeah, Ripley discovered in Aliens that Carter Burke gave the colonists order to investigate Ripleys Co-ordinates to the Derelict, knowing it would be full off eggs, as per both special order 937 (Alien) and Ripleys testimony (Aliens).

if they know there was something around ... why to send a colony and not just a squad to explore ? They did neither gave the order to scout around until the return of Ripley ..... i think LV426 was suitable for terraformation due to his primordial state ...and was good for the plot to have a colony there :p

Or... They sent the colony there with orders that if they found anything to report it to the company, having realised the signal had been turned off or shut down. Then when they found Ripley they made sure to ask her the co-ordinates of the Derelict. As for not sending a specialised squad in to investigate, this argument would also apply to Alien. It wasn't until Alien 3 that the company sent such a team, which suggests (to me) that someone or something had forbid them to use such means on LV-426, but who/what?

Love all of them...that last one is something else...WOW!!! I wanne build a 3d xeno....did one years ago ...but sadly i lost that one(stupid hard-drive died on me) .....was a challenge cause I only used a 1000 poly's....wanne do another one....go full out....like a million poly's ...lol...feeling so fucking lazy ...once i get started tho..I know i will not stop!...

I like most of these a lot...especially the one that says "Shardy's Link" over it. For me...the less human the Alien design is...the less interesting it is. The original is my favorite. N

I kinda enjoyed skyline....i guess cause i was'nt expecting much after reading so many negative reviews....I though Battle Los Angeles was one of the worst invasion movies ever...bored me to tears...but thats just my opinion. Cloverfield was interesting...the shaky camera annoyed the shit out of me...but at the same time I think it would have gone unnoticed if it was'nt for that particular gimmick? District 9.....now that was an awesome movie!...

@ Frantz - would you say its worth ordering from amazon @ Jux - I agree about district 9, clever film and paved the way for the new Murdock

....I hated the fucking a-team as a child (i hate it when a plan comes together)...the movie kinda exceeded my expectations tho...it was ok! What is this Pandorum about?....have'nt even heard of it?

I loved the A-team, and my fave scene in the film is when Murdock tries to defibrillate a car (makes me laugh every time). Pandorum, I don't really know, always wanted to watch it then forgot about it.

PAndorum is interesting ....very cliche is some parts but its carried by a very nice plot ( with alot of twists ) good technical part and a ben foster in great shape . There are some let downs in the secondary characters ( the woman plain suck ) . ITs classic SCI-FI that rely more on the plot than special effects ( that are indeed good ) BTW there is an horror gem that almost no one know and its called THE BURROWHERS ...that is a good , dark , gritty movie .

£2.99 from amazon, I'll get it next week and let you know what I think.

I have to agree with Spartakus and Nexux ..... less is best, and yeah, I don't want to see Prometheus in trailers on the tele. Alien is sooo classic, Prometheus may pale after it, but with Scott directing and Giger on board, I think the film will be a blast no matter what... well as long as Hollywood does'nt restrict it too much. BUT!, it's Scott making the prequil ; ) I can't wait!!!!..................... I like the 15 sec, 'egg to urn' idea. Yes, psych us out with as little info as possible! I may cover my eyes if they show too much! Im really looking forward to being slack jawed and wide eyed.

I would like a bit of dialogue in the next trailer...a few desperate screams and disturbing gurgling bone chilling sounds....but hopefully with the same music...perhaps even an extended version of the teaser score. Another poster won't hurt either...tho when it comes to all time favorite movie posters...I can't quite think of anything that will beat the original Alien poster...that mysterious egg...I always desperately wanted to know what was inside...as a kid i could never stop staring at it...i was very pleased when the contents tho!

An 'R' on the end of the next trailer would be good :)

So correct me if I'm wrong..... when Alien came out back in 79, was'nt the trailer on tv just the egg, then it splits with light coming out and the catch phrase... 'in space no one can hear you scream'.....? I don't recall trailers...? So again I hope big ol' Hollywood goes easy with the info.

if their was in fact a trailer with the egg splitting open and a green light coming out...i would love to see it....saw the recent alien trailer set to the score of the new teaser...(loved it...!!! )that egg would have been a nice touch tho!

2- 3 decades before Alien Resurrection. Aliens was in 2179, Alien 3 immediately after, Alien Resurrection 200 years later makes 2379, so Weyland-Yutani (in name only) was sold to walmart between 2349-2359.

The idea that Walmart would still be around 350 years on is more far-fetched than the Alien itself.

Yet we watch the film and accept the Alien. At the end of the day this really doesn't matter. WY out, USM in, thats all.
