GuestPrometheus ForumPrometheus/Alien Tie In... Possibly!?Dec 15, 2011
That's a cool find, one I'd thought about as well. However, if you read a bit later in the book, when Kane has descended into the lower levels of the ship (or beneath the ship), he equates the "fresh" eggs found there with the empty urn found by Dallas. I think the intent from the book was that Dallas had found what was ultimately an opened egg.
It's still interesting though, and I wonder if the novel provided any of the ideas and concepts ultimately showing up in Prometheus. Since the Space Jockey isn't in the book either, there's a better chance of finding clues in some of the discarded ideas presented in "The Book of Alien" or discussed in the featurettes on the Blu-Ray set.

I don't think this is as much a prequel as it is a side-story that takes place before Alien.
You can have new movies with different plots, different characters, and different creatures and have it based in the Alien universe.
A good example of this would be the movies Blade Runner and Soldier. Both movies take place in the same universe. Ridley Scott will probably do a much better job than Paul Anderson and I think Prometheus and Alien will be similar.
ReplybirdmanPrometheus ForumPrometheus 1st posterDec 15, 2011
I think that Prometheus may enlighten some people to the Alien franchise. More exposure to the xenomorph legacy. And to Dark Horse Comics...
This installment of the Alien legacy is very interesting... a "new insight" to what was given to us in the first Alien comic Book from Dark Horse. Actually, maybe it was the second.
I was hoping there would be some connection to "Aliens : Earth War" comics when I initially heard about this movie. However, I think that AVP took that and ruined it. Well, not ruined it, rather made it impossible to bring another installment of the xenomorph on Earth. Hmmm....

Good poster. I like it. Just like Scott and Rothman said this is not an Alien movie merely in the same universe as Alien. So it will be liked to Alien. I reckon the less it's tied to Alien the better it will be because Scott wont be chained with past movies. mind you I'm disappointed too as I need to know how it all started. You can see more man detail and it looks like a construct like Frankinstein. So if this is real and I bet it is, the core of the movie is about our creation.

Must interject.... I once saw this movie called Creature... when I was a kid, I realized it may have been somewhat of a ripoff of Alien. Took me a couple of years to differentiate between the two lol (i.e. the alien design). Am I the only one who thinks this????
ReplyGhost SolitarePrometheus ForumThe Films That Shook Your Very Soul !!!Dec 15, 2011
For me it was the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The notion that we would lose, as a species just disturbed me as a child. Not to mention Leonard Nimoy being at the head of the entire invasion.

Way back in time, when I was a teen i was watching that; a friend of mine asked me if I had ever seen a movie bloody stupid like this... I said no. Thereupon we laughed till being devastated.

is that close encounters??? been a long time since i've seen that
also we are naming those films you mentioned or something automatic/mechanical???
don't get the hint
YES !
The first film was the Exorcist. the 2nd was Psycho, and the last one was the hardest but has an even greater and densely bleak atmosphere about 5 times that of the original Alien and it was called "Nosferatu" which along with 1926's "Faust", are probably the reason movies like Alien and Aliens ever got made to begin with!!!

Creature's makers started a law suit against the makers of Alien and dropped it after deciding it was not in their best interest to sue and might not be that easy to prove.

Some of my favourites of recent times. I don't usually like the more traditional score writers like the ones you have mentioned. I think as a film score their material is far to cliched. Good but completely expected. I like soundtracks that are a bit more edgy & surreal.

Mine was one I cannot remember the name of but it belonged to the film "The Guns OF Navarone"
I also really really LOVED the original score for the first AIRPORT film , think it was the best part of that movie too !!!
LOL.
I also loved the score for Once Upon A Time In The West and Once Upon A Time in America, both directed by my all time fav director Sergio Leone and both were Ennio Morricone creations I think.
I loved Hans Zimmer's score for Ridley Scott's "Black Rain" as well, just loved it !!!
But 2 of the best all time I ever heard were "The Sting" by Marvin Hamlish and undoubtedly the Theme for JAWS by William Goldman !!!

Frantz you mentioned Michael Kamon
One of thing that Kills me is one year Roger Waters did a One Off Concert of "The Pros and Cons Of Hitchhiking album and the 2 guys who played on that album, Eric Clapton and Michale Kamon helped him recreate the exact sound from the album LIVE IN CONCERT, and I missed it !!!
KAMON is a freaking musical genius !!!

Yer btw there is probably an error of "ignorance" from the interviewer that think that Theron , since she is the most famous actress , is also the lead character ...so she make an horrible mistake asking Sigourney to compare Ripley to Vickers .
And from another news ive got that should be only Weyland , without the Yutani
