Must interject.... I once saw this movie called Creature... when I was a kid, I realized it may have been somewhat of a ripoff of Alien. Took me a couple of years to differentiate between the two lol (i.e. the alien design). Am I the only one who thinks this????
ReplyGhost SolitarePrometheus ForumThe Films That Shook Your Very Soul !!!Dec 15, 2011
For me it was the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The notion that we would lose, as a species just disturbed me as a child. Not to mention Leonard Nimoy being at the head of the entire invasion.

is that close encounters??? been a long time since i've seen that
also we are naming those films you mentioned or something automatic/mechanical???
don't get the hint
YES !
The first film was the Exorcist. the 2nd was Psycho, and the last one was the hardest but has an even greater and densely bleak atmosphere about 5 times that of the original Alien and it was called "Nosferatu" which along with 1926's "Faust", are probably the reason movies like Alien and Aliens ever got made to begin with!!!

Creature's makers started a law suit against the makers of Alien and dropped it after deciding it was not in their best interest to sue and might not be that easy to prove.

Some of my favourites of recent times. I don't usually like the more traditional score writers like the ones you have mentioned. I think as a film score their material is far to cliched. Good but completely expected. I like soundtracks that are a bit more edgy & surreal.

Mine was one I cannot remember the name of but it belonged to the film "The Guns OF Navarone"
I also really really LOVED the original score for the first AIRPORT film , think it was the best part of that movie too !!!
LOL.
I also loved the score for Once Upon A Time In The West and Once Upon A Time in America, both directed by my all time fav director Sergio Leone and both were Ennio Morricone creations I think.
I loved Hans Zimmer's score for Ridley Scott's "Black Rain" as well, just loved it !!!
But 2 of the best all time I ever heard were "The Sting" by Marvin Hamlish and undoubtedly the Theme for JAWS by William Goldman !!!

Frantz you mentioned Michael Kamon
One of thing that Kills me is one year Roger Waters did a One Off Concert of "The Pros and Cons Of Hitchhiking album and the 2 guys who played on that album, Eric Clapton and Michale Kamon helped him recreate the exact sound from the album LIVE IN CONCERT, and I missed it !!!
KAMON is a freaking musical genius !!!

as did The Exorcist with "Tubular Bells" by Michale Oldfield

ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumVickers CEO of WeylandDec 15, 2011
Yer btw there is probably an error of "ignorance" from the interviewer that think that Theron , since she is the most famous actress , is also the lead character ...so she make an horrible mistake asking Sigourney to compare Ripley to Vickers .
And from another news ive got that should be only Weyland , without the Yutani

ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumVickers CEO of WeylandDec 15, 2011
I know to take this with a grain of salt but in some ways...I know Theron will die because of her actions. I can see her as the CEO...young and upcoming powerful woman who takes this journey with them to make sure Weyland gets what they want....thus, she is the catalyst of the impending doom to come...of course, she too is expendable as well...someone else will just replace her upon the mantle.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumVickers CEO of WeylandDec 15, 2011
Is not a scoop and i cant be sure ( and to me the logo is still W+Y )..is from a well written article of december 2010 that i did found today ... that nail basically everything ...and it say 2 important things .. one is that is Weyland without Yutani and the second is that originally ( and maybe still now ) were planned 2 movies ...one that was set 30 years before alien ( and that proven true ) and one closer ..who knows ^^ ....

Lol when I was in High School for my Junior Thiese (not sure I spelled that right lol) I wrote a 22 page paper on The Alien Universe including their life cycle, interactions with other spieces, social structure, characters of note and even weapons used in the Universe and what they did and how they were most effective......needless to say I was the dork in the corner reading a book through HS lol but I got a A on the paper and a note from the teacher saying I need to get out more lol.
ReplyRbrown_0202Alien Movies ForumWhy So IgnorantDec 15, 2011
I have been reading this thread and found it interesting no one mentions the books.... In the books namely the trilogy that was supposed to be the continuation of Hicks and Newts story until they killed them (still not happy about that btw) but changed to be the story of Wilks and Billie. In this series we do go to what is defined as the Alien home world and you do see that they aren't the only predators on it. You also learn that there is also a Queen Mother that is in charge. The next time they go to the Alien home world is in Aliens Genocide. I also would like to note about the Space Jockey is in the 2nd book of the before mentioned trilogy. I won't spoil what you learn about them but the one you "meet" did know the Space Jockey from the movie Alien. I also think that if you are looking for canon for AVP stick with the books and comics they were out way before the movies. In AVP comics they address Pred-Aliens and they also refer to him as a "King" I also seem to remember them saying when the first AVP came out it would be separate from Alien but incorp a lot of the same canon so as not to upset the fans.
I also hold to this because if it is canon that means the first and second Predator movies are incorrect do to the Predators that hunted us "Oman" or soft meat have to be blooded., and neither of them had marks on their forehead.
As to the mention of the deleted scene from Alien. I read that they were not being transformed or anything like that they were being cacconed. This also meets in standards as far as canon if you follow the books. It states in the books that a drone can become a queen after time if no queen is present.
I understand that my opinions here are very much in conflict with some of y'alls and understand I mean no disrespect but I look at this through the eyes of someone who has read every Alien and AvP book and even has a tattoo of each on my calves. I would love to hear your thoughts on what I posted.

Besides the fear that a lower ratings bracket could compromise the integrity of the movie, I just hope Scott doesn't go overboard on the whole sexuality thing (e.g. humans romancing with the creatures, etc).
