Engineer Prototype - Model GAJ84Prometheus ForumHot Toys to release Prometheus Toys.Dec 7, 2011
Sick! I want one! I used to have quite a few Alien toys back in the day. My 2 faves were the Alien Queen with wings that flapped when you press a button on the back and the Gorilla Alien that had a hollow rubber head that you could to suck up water and spit "acid".
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumHot Toys to release Prometheus Toys.Dec 7, 2011
I could not believe that about 5-6 weeks after the Toy Show, the movie came out, and it was every bit as exciting to me as the actual Alien Doll was, even more so. That Freaked me out even back then simply because most toys designed from characters in films never worked well or were "off" in some way, but this one was "spot on". And usually the Film would come out first and IF it became popular then came the toys, but for this one the merchandising machine was already running, weeks before the films release.
You cannot see it perfectly in that picture, almost, but the jaw on that thing actually came out even further.

#1 "V" 2010
#2 All the Stargates
#3 Terra Nova
#4 Sarah Conner Chronicles
I would give a body part for a 10 year long series with Xeno's, SJ's, and Colonial Marines.

What...? No one's mentioned BSG (the new version) or Deep space 9 yet? Really?
Still, I like what's been mentioned so far. With the exception of Terra Nova. I've seen every episode to date but still feel like it could be much better.

If I can help out in anyway I will, no worries.I am on here most days so if needed, just give me a shout.
Cheers
And for what it is worth - I think Sparta deserves a role.Yes we got off on the wrong foot and yes he can be emotional, but he has still covered a lot of ground here and you can tell he loves the website and would be fully committed.

Thanks for considering me for a staff position but I would have to decline the offer. Hope you understand.

Here's the queston.
What was the original career of a serious candidate to play the original Alien?
ReplyEngineer Prototype - Model GAJ84Prometheus ForumPrometheus Movie Trivia Game!Dec 7, 2011
Neither of those are correct i'm afraid. Here's a cryptic clue, the "serious candidate" went on to play a character who wouldnt be wise to upset so you should let him win.

Ok Here We Go,
For 5 Points,
1 Point Each and then a Bonus Question.
Question 1

Who composed the background music for the scene above in which Ripley Finally, and without Ridley Scott's intent, Kills the Alien?
Question 2

I am pretty sure most of the people here already know this incredible actress Genette Goldstein, But do you knew Which Star Trek Character was created because of her role in Aliens?
Question 3

What is the name of the film making Technique that made the scene above possible?
Question 4

When the scene above was filmed, the cameras Junet was using to shoot the scene could not pick up anything in the water, so a particular substance, a liquid, had to be poured into the water to "make it so"....what was it?
Bonus Question 5
In listening to the commentary on the special edition of Alien Veronica Cartwright compares Scott with Alfred Hitchcock many times and one time she mentions filming in perhaps his 2nd most famous film..."The Birds"...and she says that for the scene where there are tons of birds on the Jungle Gym, half are real and half are not real, but that Ridley And Hitchcock are so good at making everything you see look real even when it isn't, that "it's what your eyes do not see that they are so good messing with"... what were the 1/2 of the birds that were Not real made of?
Good Luck !

come on someone must know these...?...No...?...
ReplyReeceMacoyPrometheus ForumEveryone missed this?Dec 7, 2011
i doubt its an egg based on the height alone. the alien eggs are wider & taller than that, almost the size of those urns in the picture. and when you compare that with the urns around it, david standing right next to it, its way too small. i think its just the way the dirt is shaped. david is practically standing right next to it and the "egg" looks like the size of peanut next to him.
look at pictures of ripley & kane standing next to the eggs, they really stand out & are quite obvious as to what they are, but this picture does not express that at all in my opinion.

frantz
i think your initial thought was correct, i think the names were changed from engineers to mechanics b/c it may have been too obvious that it was hinting at the space jockeys. plus when i looked up the actors who play the "mechanics", they're not actors but stunt doubles. sooo hopefully we'll see 2 living space jockeys.
plus im kind of surprised they would even list Patrick Wilson as the "Cocooned Man" b/c that itself is pretty revealing & drops some hints.
i would think fox would have released the "cocooned man" & the "mechanics" actors' names closer to the release date of the movie.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumIMDB CAST UPDATEDec 7, 2011
yes but ...the names of the actors are different ... the 2 that were given as "engineers" are not the ones that are "mechanics" ... i think that now we miss just 2 "plumbers" and we can open a home depot ...
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumIMDB CAST UPDATEDec 7, 2011
Frantz I find you really humorous when you leave out the insults. : ) I think If we see 2 plumbers on the list they will be named Mario and Luigi.
ReplyReeceMacoyPrometheus ForumIMDB CAST UPDATEDec 7, 2011
Yea I do remember reading about the engineers and the two actors that play them. I'll look them up eventually and see if they are also listed as stunt doubles and not actors. Also home depot in space is a wise move b/c weyland is going to have a lot of terraforming to do and need all the parts they can get.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumAm fascinated as to what the jockey's story isDec 7, 2011
Sorry to correct you yet again but the Space Jockey/Pilot was created by H. R. Giger for Alien in 1979, any elaboration of their story and background, although non-canonical was featured in the Dark Horse comics during the eighties and the nineties. John Spaihts only contribution, if any, was that he was the original screenplay writer for Prometheus, he is in no way responsible for creating the Space Jockey/Pilot, therefore his reference towards them as "Growers" should be omitted from memory.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumAm fascinated as to what the jockey's story isDec 7, 2011
and we still dont know if they harvest planets or not ....
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumAm fascinated as to what the jockey's story isDec 7, 2011
Exactly, we can only assume as much from the comments made by Ridley in the commentary for Alien, and the extended universe seen in the comics and video games.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumAm fascinated as to what the jockey's story isDec 7, 2011
i dont think Ridley care of that extended universe ( movies , comics or video games ... ) ...i dont say this to go against you , but its what i feel liestening and reading what Scott said in all this years .
Prometheus , i think , will be made to create the Original intended Universe of Alien ..an Universe in which even Alien ( but not all the sequels ) will find his place ..its like like Ridley want to get back his own creature and cut the ties with all the rest .
ReplyThadus 12Prometheus ForumAm fascinated as to what the jockey's story isDec 7, 2011
Totally agree Frantz, Alien (1979) IS the original universe and everything after is just a bad dream of ineffective storytelling. Trust in Ridley

Could it be the cocooned man is the second phase of the production of a human from the urn. Assuming the urns containing the basic DNA or plasma for the production of humans? Or could be the prototype?
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumPatrick Wilsons roleDec 7, 2011
Engineer , yes prometheus is set before alien but that wont mean that the who cocoon people ( aka the Aliens ) are not there . Im pretty sure that classic aliens are there ( and one reliable source spotted them on set ) and so there should be their reproduction sistem aka "cocooning people"
