I WAS 17 @ THE TIME. What made that 1st ever Alien Spot so amazing was that up until that time in film history no one had ever dared advertise a feature film in that manner...AND THE SOUNDS ON IT. No one had ever heard sound presented in that manner in a film ad. The breathing, "Sigouney Ripley's" lol, breathing was a Big part of That!!! We cannot hear it in that clip. I think it may have actually been in one of the later versions of it, or I imagined it, but there were at least 5 different versions of it that came out in succession.

to post a pic you need to first have the pic hosted somewhere like Photobucket.com so when you see one you like and want to use it later on in an email or on bulliten Boards you will need to first save it anywhere on your PC. Next pic any free picture hosting service such as photobucket.com and create an account it takes 2 minutes. Now when you upload that pic you saved on your PC you will be able to see the pic in Photobucket after it uploads and if you click on that pic it will call it up bigger if it can and also with several sets of code beside it. Pick the one that says direct link and copy the code. {you can just click where it is and it will do it for you automatically} Now in your post on the Board click on that picture icon and add/paste the code in there...be sure there is only one instance of the code [img} at the front and only one instance of the code[/img} at the end. That's it your done.

I know the answer in the back of my head somewhere and it has to do with the company that Alien's "Wayland Yutani" was derived from, I have the info somewhere I think and am trying to dig it up.

I found it... The name "Weylan-Yutani"was created by Ron Cobb, one of the designers of the Nostromo and its crew's uniforms. Weylan Yutani for instance is almost a joke, but not quite.... Here in his own words is how Mr. Cobb came up with it... "I wanted to imply that poor old England is back on its feet and has united with the Japanese, who have taken over the building of spaceships the same way they have now with cars and supertankers. In coming up with a strange company name I thought of British Leyland and Toyota, but we couldn't use "Leyland-Toyota" in the film. Changing one letter gave me "Weylan," and "Yutani" was a Japanese neighbor of mine. " British Leyland or otherwise Toyota must be the answer you were looking for. One of those 2 companys made that Bus. Great Question and I have wrestled Back Control of the board...

its a mix of both the stills and the earlier video and the later video ripped from apparent "early testing stage footage" according to fox, yeah right, and I noticed something else yesterday, We now have shots of an Alien leaping out of something from both Above and Straight on. Maybe some of the video wizards around here can get a splice of them together for comparative analysis. I would do it myself but sadly I need a new video capture card.

Need to make something a bit more challenging...

Yeah bro...I am thinking this week or the next we might see a poster come out or perhaps a website launched. The 21st is approaching and they can only keep a lid on this for a short while...they do not want to lose the fanfare by aggravating the fans so from what I heard on the grapevine, they are just waiting to launch the website and trailer, and it should be on Apple Movie trailers, HD as well from what i have heard. Good Stuff!

Some good thoughts there Spartacus. I think the slave theory is plausible. It has been hinted that this would be a gruesome movie and we know Scott is having trouble with the cert rating. Alien had an 18s rating but that probably wouldnt apply today. Consider this. The breeding of humans as fodder for the xenos or possibly to develope the ultimate xeno. Maybe inter breeding. Look at Gigers work some pretty mad stuff there and a lot of it sexually based. So the urns are in fact the basis for human production. On lv426 I reckon its just a last second shot of the jockey ship crashing on the planet and the xeno coming out of the pilot. The trailer seems to show well formed planets with even blue skies. Any terraforming on lv426 would have been found in Alien or Aliens. There was mention of a second prequel last year so we may be left with some questions still when this is all done.

loved what you all wrote. not saying that we will see a queen just that there had to have been one on whatever ship it was that crashed on LV-426. it is the suggestion and integrity of it that should be maintained IMO. they could just end the film with the ship crashing and that would be fine. Also, Scott is in fact using the Spaiths script and applied changes to it suggested by Damon Lindelof and himself to create a new story with a broader view of the Alien universe and including an ending in which the last 8 minutes will be familiar to fans of the Alien Franchise and contain "Strands of "Alien" DNA. I believe Scott cares very much about all 4 of the other films and that they're integrity is important to him as well. I also think their are countless other people who surrounded those 4 films and are surrounding this one that care very much about these things as well...in fact...I believe Scott himself stayed away from the idea of doing this project or any similar project before it because of how upset he was that the "AVP" films got made at all, That Fox got involved the way they did and that He, they, all want to restore some of the old glory of the original ALIEN film. I believe the ideas you all came up with are fantastic and I like most of them better than mine... ..all the same I think it will be a lot simpler and have more to do with the same old "Stop The Xenos" idea than it will anything completely new. ..and in Spaiths' script... ... one of the things I do not see them changing, Is the Growers Planet, and the discovery of human beings being exploited as slaves for HARVESTING this world and the uncovering of the first incantation of the "Xenomorph" species on it. To me this is more than likely where Scott went.

Before I continue, I need to take a moment to say I really enjoy this community forum and specifically this conversation. Its nice to be able to come to a site and talk with people who are as moved/excited by these movies as I am. OK back on topic... On Ridley and sequels: I have no doubt that Ridley values and appreciates the sequels. (Even if he didn't he probably wouldn't admit to it publicly out of respect/professionalism for everyone involved in making those movies.) What I (and I think others) am/are saying is that while Ridley may respect the other sequels, he may not have the same conceptual/artistic/story-telling views as those that created the sequels. Just as, for example, Cameron expanded, and in a way, steered away from some one the concepts originated by Ridley in the original film, I think Ridley will do the same with Prometheus. But heck, I could be wrong and for all I know he may work the "Queen" into the story in an intelligent way that makes the Alien species less insect-like and more "ALIEN". On the Spaiths Script: I know it has been confirmed (fact) that the final script IS a modified/re-written version of AN original script by Spaiths. I am just saying that there is no way we fans (at this time) can prove that the "LEAKED - HARVEST SCRIPT" was indeed the actual script that was first written by Spaiths and then modified/rewritten by Lindelof. For all we know that "Leaked Harvest Script" was written by a fan and passed off as "THE" original Spaiths script. While I do not like the Harvest Script, I have to specify that I do not like it for an "ALIEN" movie as directed by Ridley. I do, however, think the Harvest script would make for a decent "Twilight Zone/Outer Limits-like" TV episode or mini series. I just personally don't want to see that script as the Prometheus script or as any script related to Ridley's original Alien.
