Huge question!
I suppose finally bringing the Alien to Earth? At least Mars, to keep the budget down.
So yeah...Some Xeno action on Mars or the moons of Saturn, making some great back drops! Then getting on to Earth.
BigDave you are right, and the 2 clips kind of contradict themselves with the events before and after Covenant.
Fear of Bacteria, Parasites, Fire, Penetration, Phallic-shaped objects. These seem suspiciously too close to being specifically targeted towards fear responses to the Xenomorph.
Below (left) is a screen-grab from one of the images flashed at the candidates. From a flash a rattlesnake strike and facehugger leap (right) looks ominously similar. W-Y knew what to expect in this.

TV - series please! Love to have 100+ A L I E N episodes. Like Star Trek, have 30 or more favorites and the rest so-so and I'd be happy!
I think that covenant is going to do really well on blueray and dvd.
My big question about the queen is why they even nead one. there was already eggs in alien covenant. fox also might want to kill of the main protagonist or else there wouldent be a story. if this happened near the end it could be possible though.
I'm more in the camp of: Why are they having sex so soon after their crewmates were slaughtered?! Take a break and maybe mourn them?!
"Crews dead baby! More shower time for you and me!"
"You're makin' me so horny baby!"
If the queen mentioned by David means a real alien queen, that's OK for me, but I want something different. I mean I don't want to remeet the alien queen from Aliens. I'd like to see a different monster, something fresh and shocking would be needed.
A hadleys hope tv series would be nice.
also mabye just an anthology series and each season would tell a complete different story involving the corperation and xenomorphs.
Totally agree Gavin...
Oh we did get Freddy's Nightmare kind of Spin off... where Freddy was not in most of them, but it was as if the events he was connected to.
I think indeed a TV Series about the Xenomorph would be a bad idea, they would need to have some kind of Spin Off.
Maybe hint a bit at the Xenomorph or show it now and again in different forms, and have it as a limited run like 10 Episode Side Story... where maybe we could see the Xenomorph only shown a handful of times.
The Universe is expanded by Prometheus.. so much scope, to set things anywhere in the Galaxy, at any time point... we also have the Weyland and Yutani Compay and the Androids so we dont have to go the whole Engineer route.
The Problem is having a Series that is in the Universe that has no Xenomorphs is a good idea, but then having it use the ALIEN Prefix without showing the Xenomorphs could well ruffle a few feathers as some fans expect to then see Xenomorphs...
But then setting it within the Universe but not having Alien even mentioned in the Title etc.. holds its own risks... Prometheus never carried the Alien Prefix. it was a attempt to explore other elements within the Universe than just the ALIEN as in the Eggs and Xenomorph on the Derelict. But it was marketed as a kind of Prequel to Alien and this again caused some fans to expect and want it to cover Xenomorphs... Hence why FOX/RS gave us a more Alieny Alien Covenant.
So thats a dilemma they have.
My Point being like the ADF Prequel Novel, this is like a Spin Off based Prequel to cover the Covenant Mission and the Company etc... but it appears in no way is it connected to the Xenomorph or anything related to LV-223 and Engineers.
But the Book is labeled Alien Covenant Origins... which some fans may think this book could and should have some ALIEN Origins. When in reality its more just a Covenant Prequel.
And so should have been called The Covenant... but then its how does this get interpreted as being connected to the Alien Covenant movie... so for recognition they insert the Alien: before Covenant and this prior to Origins.
This is the problem the Alien Franchise has... Star Wars can go and cover Spin Offs that are not connected to Luke Skywalker, or Anakin/Vader or even anything like this... Star Wars Universe is opened up that not every movie has to connect to the Anakin Family Tree.. but you will get fans who see any Spin Offs and expect at least a Nod to Skywalker etc...
But then connections to the Force are sufficient.
Sadly the Alien Franchise by Name, has the Curse that every movie that wishes to be connected maybe has to use the ALIEN: Prefix in order for them to push it that its within the same universe... But then fans would expect it to be connected or have ALIENS as far as the Organism on LV-426
IMO this is a perfect example of how convoluted the franchise has and is becoming...
Until Prometheus we had one of these ships that had 'crashed' on LV-426 (yes, I know, some prefer the term landed). Yet now post Covenant we have been shown two more which have also 'crashed', and despite looking and for all intentions being identical to the one on LV-426 these two newer ships aren't the same, are bigger and have different insides.
Would an advanced race really create two different ships to look like each other at a glance, is there an uber-juggernaut that looks the same but is miles long. And it's a little peculiar that considering the advanced tech these Juggernauts aren't all that good at doing what ships are meant to do - stay in the air.
I've got better screen grabs now from behind the scenes in regards to how David 8 creates some type of eggs BigDave...I'll edit and post shortly. The overall topic was gore so I will harvest some for us.
also, mabye somehow add some of the SHE WONT GO QUEIETLY clip. when she is getting ammo in her gun and especially the 4 meters above you part. you could also add the lunar auidi quatro into it. If you properly eddit the two, it could seem like daniells is controlling the rover while asking mother were the alien is. these 2 clips were the most suspenseful parts of the movie. if possible also add acrobatic xenomorph jumping off walls in red lighting.
Looking at some of Dr Shaws... Concept works, some show her getting Face Raped (like Trilobite/Face Hugger type Proboscis)
What if David used her Womb/Egg Cells to create something and then use the Organism created from this to further infect her over and over.
This would fit very much with the Story of Sin, Satans Daughter in Paradise Lost.... where David is Satan, and the First Creation David created after Violating Dr Shaw (Sin) is Death.
Great to see this topic ninXeno426. Thank you.
When we first saw those leaked shots before the Trailers ever hit..

I was left pondering and even made a Topic on this about those Skulls which are Human Baby Skulls and then all those experiments which looked to be spawned from Humanoid Hosts.
Must have meant David had access to Hosts and Babies... and so i was pondering where did these come from, maybe Female Engineers but also maybe indeed Dr Shaw too.
You could almost imagine David after getting rejected, captures Shaw and Incapacitates her, and then he goes on about he can Give Dr Shaw the one thing she could never have.... CHILDREN..
She Certainly had the Trilobite but it was not a traditional Fetus, and we see David had to have some pretty in shape Engineers for his drawings and Body Parts. So maybe David could take Male Engineer Seed... make Dr Shaw Pregnant and then use her Children of his Experiments.
Now this would have been down right Evil and very Disturbing.
Add the crossing and the last supper clip.
BigDave, he may have been still bleeding out when David 8 walked up with the flare and told the remaining Covenant crew to follow him...and I still don't see how everyone didn't get killed from shooting each other when trying to hit the neomorph.
I like how later on David 8 mentions to Walter he was watching when the neomorph bit his hand off.
Wow, I'm surprised that I'm going to be the only one to say this thus far but I'd be dead set against an Alien TV show.
Contrary to what Ridley Scott says the beast is not overcooked, maybe over exposed but not overcooked, because if the Alien is overcooked the so is every other unseen antagonist lurking in the shadows. It is how the Alien is utilized by the director and the script that makes it scary, Alien Isolation more than proved that point.
I mention this because if you had an Alien TV or streaming series, and even if the creature only appeared sparingly, you would further expose the already overexposed creature and run the risk of actually overcooking it. It's the same reason a Freddy or Jason series has never been greenlit. Yes, we have had those properties attached to shows, but those shows weren't actually about those characters.
If instead, it was a spin-off, maybe about Weyland-Yutani employees or the inhabitants of a colony this could maybe work, but then you run the risk of creating too much 'canon' that could potentially hinder future movies that would be tied not just to the canon of the previous shows but also the stories depicted in each episode of the show.
Think Star Trek. The original series was fine, same too with The Next Generation, but by the time we got to Voyager and Enterprise there was so much baggage and so many toes that could be stepped on narratively that it limited the narrative scope of those shows, which is most likely why they rebooted the entire franchise.
Would you really want that happing to the Alien franchise and isn't in convoluted enough thanks to the prequels?
Hello BigDave. The latest release from David 8's experiments looks like the story line may go really bloody when showing the removal of Dr. Shaw's rib cage.
"Which i could not help but think about when we saw the leaked Davids Lab shots last year showing some Baby-head looking Aliens."

Who knows where they could go with the experimentations aspects of what we saw within the lab?
Certainly would be interesting to find out what was behind the Covenant Mission and who and why would anyone want to sabotage it.
As far as David in the Advent, yes this does kind of go against the Company having any knowledge and Agenda prior to the Covenant Mission being sent on its way.
The Advent clip also paints them a bit too much into a corner as any incoming mission would we weary of David, knowing his Models Failings and now how he is basically telling them he killed Shaw and used her for sinister means and now intends to to do the same with near 2000 colonists.
I think its basically screwed up the potential Plot... especially of the Company Proceeds to attempt to gain Davids Creation knowing the risks and are willing to let it go, how David killed thousands in order to create his Perfection.
This would be like the Theory some had that the Company Set up Hadleys Hope knowing full well about the Xenomorph and actually sending those Colonist to their deaths on purpose.
Nope.. a more fitting way has to be it revealed that AI is behind the Scenes, and they cover stuff up to use Humans and Pawns.
Its does make us think why are they preparing and evaluating the Crew for potentially facing such Fears and asking about Aliens.
Maybe its because while they have surveyed the World to be very suitable to start a colony on with as little Terra-forming on as possible.
Such a World would have to have Wild-Life, and it may not be all Cuddley Animals as Harmless as a Guinea Pig, who knows what Dangers are waiting.
If Humans did not inhabit Earth but came from some place else and had set down on Earth now... if it was not inhabited by previous intelligent species.
There are a lot of potential Dangers, for those with knowledge of such things.... How Dangerous are the Spiders, Snakes.. the lack of Preparation for crossing a River with Predators like Alligators, walking through a Jungle or up in the Mountains and encountering Big Cats....
So discovering a Earth like World could have less Hostile Wild-life than on Earth, but it could have more Hostile.
And so maybe these Tests in the Phobos clip are to assess and prepare the Colonist for such things.
I certainly would like to see some kind of Weyland-Yutani Report where they Study the Collection of Davids works... as far as give us a detailed Book of what he got up to.
I think there are a number of Horrific things he got up to, but i think even if we have a Movie set between Prometheus and Alien Covenant we maybe wont be seeing every single detail.
It would have been interesting to see what he got up to etc, and maybe they could release like a Report/Diary of his works... or even do a Novel that covers this time of events.
I think we have to have a Movie to cover the basics and link to Alien.
But certainly a Series to expand upon things from the Universe would be interesting, its if FOX had any confidence to invest so much into the Alien Franchise.
And it shows using none A-List Actors can work Take the AMC Walking Dead, hardly a cast of well knowns, who have become more Well Known now..... The Walking Dead had the same effect that Alien had as far as not so well know Actors, who had very well written Characters who then become more house hold names.
I think a TV Series Spin off would work but then its if FOX would want to risk such a venture.
I think it was something they could have done better, as i would not see this as a Fatal Blow..i would have rather it had severed the Neck and saw Ankor bleed out lots of Blood
But yeah back to the OT, i think it was not the best way to tackle such a scene.
Way before the trailers, and also just after the first i was drawn to a alternative Shower Scene, if they had a Female Infected with the Black Goo who happened to be Pregnant....
They get back to the Ship and get it on in the shower, to then unleash a Belly Burster Xenomorph.... this would have been far more disturbing, and its a idea i would have explored.
Which i could not help but think about when we saw the leaked Davids Lab shots last year showing some Baby-head looking Aliens.
I agree with everything you mentioned above on the "flash some flesh" in Sci-Fi Gavin. That's why I kept the visuals to an alien penetrating a neck from behind.
I think it was added because its a typical type of scene from the typical Horror Flick..... which indeed does give the Movie more of a Scream with Xenos or Friday the 13th with Xenomorph's but as long as we dont get a Nightmare on Elm-Street with Xenomorphs we would be find...
Mind you David could go a few steps more Whacky and we get that on the Covenant which would not be too bad as the First Movie was more serious... Maybe a Hellraiser meets Xenomorphs would work with a crazed David or indeed the returning Engineer who is not to happy someone shot up his face with the Nail Gun.... but on a serious note i mean the tone the first few Hellraisers did would have been interesting..
Certainly had worked if they had it that David and Shaw found some remains of Engineers, and David entered a Covenant with the few beings he found where he offered up Dr Shaw has part of his bargaining and see the Engineers having some sinister Agenda for her...
Thank you Lilly (Svanya).

"Radical" most certainly means vastly different A.I. in regards to what we project A.I. could be and what we have been shown with Ash, David 8, Walter, and Mother under human development from Weyland Industries and Weyland-Yutani Corporation.
This ancient A.I. uses an organic vehicle to spread. Ridley Scott clearly stated that the black goo didn't originate with the Engineers and it was someone else in an interview a while back. I hope this aspect is covered in the prequel novel.
There are a lot of cool things about the pathogen in the Advent video. Here are a few screen grabs of a drawing of a mote egg and David drawing a mote breaking from the swarm and injecting eggs into a host. The mote is a tiny flying insect.

@Yog Sothoth - Sorry, Yog, I think you are wrong, especially about the motes. David's drawing clearly shows the motes that come from the spore-like eggs are tiny insects that infect hosts. What you think is a wasp being infected by a mote is actually a mote ejecting eggs through its proboscis.
Indeed some in continuity errors picked up there Gavin, sadly they seem to make such things a bit with Movies too, not quite as far as Ages maybe but just not doing their homework in general.
But as far as the OT goes, its a interesting angle to take, i think a Isolation game set around this could work very well, have it tackle a time just before the Colony is overran so we dont have to worry about like the End of the game being faced with 50 Xenomorphs or so...
Do they add a bit more Action this time, where you can kill a few Xenomorphs but you would be limited to doing so, and so it fits more in like the Resident Evil First Game but say less than half the Weapons and Ammo.
They could offer multiple Characters to choose so we get to see the Events from different perspectives and i am sure Newts Survival Tale would be a interesting one that would certainly be more close to the Original Isolation Game.
Did anyone confirm what this image flashed (in the Phobos segment) is below?

I'm very excited regarding the upcoming prequel novel IRaptus. Great topic.
I'll be bluntly honest here - I hate this scene!
I am of the belief that unless fully justified a sex scene doesn't belong in anything other than a movie about sex. Back in the eighties and nineties virtually every action, horror, and sci fi movie had the obligatory sex scene, usually for no good reason other than to "flash some flesh". It was always needless and pointless. Even for a movie like The Terminator, in which Kyle and Sarah get down and dirty, is it really necessary? While some may say yes because they conceived John, I would say no because it's a sci-fi movie about a killer robot.
Now onto Alien, a franchise that has so far avoided the needless exercise of flashing the wobbly bits. Alien might have shown Ripley in her skimpy's, and in Alien 3 Ripley and Clements did the deed as did Shaw and Holloway in Prometheus, but we never went so far as to show all, even though one could have argued that in Prometheus it was justified because of Shaw's pregnancy that followed. We didn't need it.
Yet here it is in Covenant. Which, to me just confirms that this movie was made as a knee jerk reaction to the naysayers who hated Prometheus, and that Ridley sold out to them rather than deliver the sequel fans wanted and he originally promised.
Thank you for this Ati.
Thanks Tiwaz,
Interesting you mention River of Pain. In researching before posting my proposal I came across this and checked it out on Xenopedia, and while the book might be good, and while I don't want to nit pick, something puzzled me; the following quote...
"On March 15th, 2173, Hadley's Hope welcomes its first newborn in the form of Rebecca Jorden, an event celebrated by the entire populace."
Firstly, in 1985, when Aliens was shot Carrie Henn was 9 years old, not 6 which the book claims Newt would have been in the movie, which was set in 2179.
Secondly, Newt was the not the first child born on the colony. With the colony having been there "almost twenty years now", anyone under the age of twenty would have been born there, and anyone closer to the age of twenty would have been born before Newt and more likely to be the first child born on Hadley's Hope, such as Newt's Brother Timmy.
Schoolboy errors for someone who's enough of a fan to dedicate months writing a novel about it.
sherris no I didn't notice the Synthetic doing the tests!!! This clip is jam packed full of things to keep us talking and discussing for some time I think :)
Excellent point about W-Y selection criteria of Individuals that won't be missed. Definitely an agenda here!
IRaptus - Thanks for your explanation !!
I did notice the sound that sounded like a facehugger. I paused it and as i said, i seen a translucent snake. it was very much the same colour as the top of the Egg that Oram peers into.
Also the "Parasitic" phobia on screen.
I will be looking forward to your presentation;) i will have a look when i get a chance.
Did you also notice that there is a synthetic. The Female doing the tests. Thought her name may start with an "E" this time but it never.
Regarding WY selecting candidates with the greatest fear, did you know on the last WY timeline it expressively states that they run schemes for under privileged/poor adolescents and get them into high positions (Tee maybe for one) am wondering if it is because "no one will miss them" thats not to say they are orphans but if they take from the poor and they end up missing they dont have the wealth to delve deeper into the situation. Not like if you came from a more wealthy background with a Doctor mam and lawyer dad ????
Sherris the testing showed that there was prior knowledge of the xenomorph before the Covenant mission launch. Throughout the testing the candidates are assaulted with sounds and visuals.
There are sounds of the noise a face-hugger makes leaping from the egg and Xenomorph death cry.
I have been collecting screen grabs of the Visual flashes, that Ill post up later (unless someone beats me to it) but they are shown images of parasites leaving flesh, rattlesnake lunge that looks very close to the facehugger leap, dripping egg sacks etc.
Computer screen grabs show the candidates are being tested for fear responses and phobia's. If you look at the above banner you can see "Parasitophobia" and "Bacteriophobia" had been identified for Tennessee. As VivisectedEngineer it appears the candidates were selected with the greatest fear
I'd say David's a little ahead of the curve when it comes to genetic engineering.
Cloning is an interesting concept, however, given that we only see its possible in AR, 200 years after Alien 3, would it even be possible in the late 21st century?
