Ok i have just watched ALIEN again well the First 20 Min and what we have SHOWN in the Opening Sequence is TWO Different VDU

The One you are have Marked Out from the Game is the One that ASH uses, which is different to the ONE which Lambert uses Later

There are some Differences to BOTH of the VDU stations.

11 Min into ALIEN we come to see Lambert at her Station and we again see the Elephantine Thingy...   I do indeed Never Recall it before but i maybe MISSED it before because its maybe a Scene where Nothing that Important Happens so i dont pick on some Details.

I could maybe have been there all along and simply MISSED.

OR maybe something is up ;)

I think if anything is done correctly you could do just about anything in a movie and it could be outstanding....I am not worried about retcon for anything in this franchise....depending on what they want to produce and show us in the next installment.....I think would all be very happy that it were all dream....then again if they do not get it right then it could detrimental to the franchise again causing more viewers to disconnect from it entirely.

I never thought it was possible that toys from a quarter century ago could be turned into what are the transformer films....and I respect a lot of Michael Bays work in those films...lots of interesting special effects....I like only some of those films not all of them....and they definitely work on many levels.....if they can do this for the new Alien I think audiences will welcome it with open arms.

I wish it were that simple....but none of us remember it as well as the people who programmed that video game....

What is even more interesting....is finding someone that should absolutely know that it should be there......and no one from any of these posts in year after year ever mentioned it once........

Here is what is creepy ok.....when I mentioned the knife mistake/plot defect/movie blooper....everyone instantly remembered that.....

Its the fact that we all have a shared memory of not seeing this that is of worry to me....there should be one person in the group at least with a vague recall of it being there and there are none.....and I know you have watched the film as have I frame by frame and its not in there for us both....

For example....ponder this.....Ash is studying the remains of the face hugger....and then Ripley appears right behind him....this was a plot defect because you are supposed to hear the med bay door slide back into the recess but you don't and you know exactly what I am talking about because you have seen the movie so many times.....however, you said it yourself....never in all my viewings where there is something PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED ON ASH'S MONITOR DO YOU EVER RECALL IT ONCE EVER BEING THERE.....this is something that we all did not miss...it was never there to being with....

It is so strange in fact....it would be as if someone came into the chat one day and said the Alien sits down and writes a letter you know while the other crew members are looking for it.....and we all know this is just impossible....just like its would be impossible to be watching this movie for 40 years and all of us not notice something hanging right there on ASH'S monitor....

I do not believe in the Mandela Effect....although I believe something is at work here with this...it is a very extraordinary contradiction....and it is worth investigating further.

If we are going to do a ALIEN V then it has to be Chronologically after (or Parallel) Alien Resurrection and by that we DONT have to Follow Ripley 8 but i did have 2 Ideas for how this could be done.

I also have 2 Ideas that dont deal with Ripley 8 (One not too much.. as in neither wont have to have Miss Weaver)

So it seems the Idea is that some of the Franchise will just be a DREAM!

But what is more Interesting is the Quote "All that we see or seem, is but a dream within a dream"

This could imply either....

That the Sequels (maybe Prequels) to ALIEN are Cryo-Dreams by Ripley while she is on the Narcissus

Or that even the EVENTS of ALIEN are also Ripleys Dreams!   

The Great Fear for me is if this is Released and is Canon then it could make the Franchise be SIMPLY about RIPLEY and her Nightmares!

Its Very Comic Book/Video Game!

Its kind of Neat..... maybe some of the Extras could do with Trimming Off and it would look better ;)

I think the PLOT about making a Hybrid to Control seems Interesting, i dont see much Human Hybridization here but then i Guess it looks better than the New Born LOL

But its Interesting to see that Mankind has managed to Control a Xenomorph.... but in Good Old Alien Fashion i think we can Guarantee this things GETS out of CONTROL... and maybe it makes the Queen his Bitch!  And we get a New Colony thats more of a Threat ;)

I watched the Opening Scene Last Night both from the Movie on my Cable Network On Demand and One of my DVD's and the Elephantine Key Chain thing is there. (in Both).

It could be just something we can MISS like how Many Movies have GOOFS that you dont Notice until they are Pointed Out and so you go and Watch the Scene again and then Notice them for the First Time ;)

Or someone is Playing with the Similation/Matrix ;)

As i had the other Month watched a Movie with someone in my Home and said we SAW this in the Cinema before, and they was like NO we Never... i have NOT seen it... i was like we DEFO DID!

But then i have also seen a Movie and said i ant seen this before while others said YES we had together, and also there are some Memories i have in regards to Events with some People who do-not even Remember, or have Slightly Different version of the same Event ;)

So maybe the Mandela Effect is going on and we can blame CERN!

Okay, I'm liking this new addition to the mythos. :D

I'm thinking Ripley needs to be retired, and that Walter Hill has worn out his welcome with regards to the ALIEN universe.

Hill is good with action films, but he just doesn't 'get' what ALIEN is about.

Blomkamp needs to stay the hell OUT of the ALIEN universe, same with Cameron.

Of course. What does make some sense of confusion is how Sigourney Weaver was with Walter Hill's concept. She was spot on excited for Blomkamps and totally on board, then with Hill, she says i don't know, maybe Ripley deserves a rest. Unless however, its all a red herring.

We will see what we see when we see it.

This little Vignette is an idea I have had rolling around in my head since the scene between David and Holloway in PROMETHEUS, then got built-up when I saw the opening scene of ALIEN: Covenant. I think the inluences from those films are pretty evident. lol

I wanted to do things Differently, there's no need for another Tyrell, Wallace or Weyland...the 'gods'. ;)

Have any of you ever considered that the small elephant figure was never in the original film ever.

But some how the small elephant figurine dangling from Kane's monitor is now there.....What ever did this did not change everything.

I can tell you all this.......I have watched Alien at least 100 times maybe more...just watched it again early morning Aug 27, 2020 and do not recall seeing an elephant dangling from the monitor....I saw the output, thought about the helmet, saw the pack of cigarettes, watched as the camera pans around the room, the camera fades into the hyper-sleep chamber scene.....BUT NO ELEPHANT ever and I have been watching the film for over 40 years.

I know a good part of the dialog verbatim, obviously recall of every scene in chronological order.....but there was never any elephant in the original movie until now.

I would also like to add that you just stated that you never saw the elephant figure as described until this video was posted? You know every frame of the movie, in concise detail, perhaps better than the people who made the film....since you never saw it either until now it was never in the original film we all saw until just recently.

Now of course that would mean everyone's memories and the entirety of all physical aspects of this anomaly - has been altered, added somehow???

How is that possible? There are movie mistakes that are very had to see because they happen in tenths of a second, the blink of an eye.....this was never in front of all of us for the past 40 years and no one ever talked about it or noticed it until now.....in fact I find very little evidence of the inclusion of it in another locations on the web....and of course we all know very well that RS and many of the set designers go into great detail about how they incorporated various aspects of the each and every thing they put into the production...I have investigated those videos for years as well as everyone else and BigDave.....there was never any elephant figurine there.....it is something that we would have noticed after 40 years.....I read the original Alan Dean Foster Book Alien so I am very familiar that the Space Jokey sitting in the chair is refereed to an elephant like creature that is fossilized. 

I have studied Kane's terminal where he sat for several years.....in fact one day a few months back I wanted to know what brand of cigarettes he was smoking...and of course looking them up on the internet you come to the conclusion they were made by the prop department. No there was no elephant figurine dangling from the Kane's monitor in any of those subsequent viewings or study of the film....I also studied where and when the WY logo appears in the film as well....and no elephant figurine in any of those viewings either.

Four decades is a long time for a lot of people to watch a film and not see this very important detail......also I would like to add NO ONE EVER DISCUSSED IT ONCE IN ALL THE YEARS WE EVER TALKED ABOUT THIS FILM IN ANY OF THESE POSTS....Why is that?

Why does this elephant figure appear just now....recently....because it was never in the original film; however, for some reason, no matter how strange the reality of that irrational explanation is, it is the only explanation that fits the truth of the causality of this contradiction.

As an experiment........we should all participate.....BigDave you start a separate post call the title "What jewelry did the crew of the Nostromo wear in Alien?"

Just as an experiment lets all go to that post and list every item and compare what we think they wore from memory only....however, do not watch the film, do not look online.....just go into the post and list what think each movie character wore....it could be anything from a ring, bracelet, earrings, ect.....it is experiment time......pick a day we all post.....then after the submissions to the post we should all watch the film separately and then compare what is in the post.

This is Alien Isolation the game.....they recreated the Nostromo in really good detail. 

NO ELEPHANT HANGING FROM THE CORNER OF KANE'S MONITOR....but they took the time to digitally render every detail of the emergency helmets, every detail of each characters hair, all the different colored  buttons, sizes and shapes of other objects.....ect.

Not photoshopped....and NO ELEPHANT FIGURINE.

The opening scenes are fantastic. The helmets are a little bonkers, though. It's just for artistic effect. It's also a bit disturbing that some of the helmets switch from having a red cylindrical "port" on the outside to it being on the inside of the helmet visor. Continuity errors. Whatever, they look cool.

Indeed we have to Remember that RS had called those on Planet 4 the Civilians and those on LV-223 the Military.

I think RS had mentioned some Interesting comments before, such as he claimed that he DID-NOT want to Meet God in the First Movie in relation to some of the Deleted Scenes which would suggest the Engineers in Prometheus Theatrical Cut are NOT the Hierarchy

He also calls those Engineers a few times DARK ANGELS... implying Fallen.

I recall but i cant find WHERE now that he also said those Planet 4 Engineers are the Original Engineers.  As i cant seem to Find where i thought i Heard this i could be Mistaken.

What we do know is he Referred to the Hall of Heads guys as the Apostles, Wise Men, Superior Beings and they are the Hierarchy.   And so maybe they are the GODS that RS did-not want to meet in Prometheus.

We could maybe Assume the Hall of Heads are the ELDERS who RS had removed from Prometheus but WHY?  Maybe its because RS had a intention to Redesign those Elders so maybe they would LOOK more like Planet 4 Engineers and not the Prometheus ones?

RS has said in the Past that David was a A.I that was NOT grown from a Embryo he was Born/Created Fully that Size.. this is ODD it implies that RS feels some A.I can be Grown!

When talking about AC2 he said it would be about A.I and he also said that the Replicants were A.I and so again this is Implying he thinks that any Artificially Engineered Creation regardless of Biological or Synthetic is A.I

Which brings me back to when RS had Teased about their being maybe more than ONE Robot/A.I in Prometheus, this Lead to Fans thinking could Vickers be a Robot?   I would say NO.

So there was ONLY a Single Robot? David!

From the other Comments RS has made since Prometheus it seems that RS sees that A.I does-not have to Synthetic.

If those Engineers on Planet 4 are related to the Hall of Heads Elders, but then those Engineers in Prometheus are NOT the Gods/Hierarchy.   Maybe we need to LOOK at the Difference between the Planet 4 and LV-223 Engineers.

The Prometheus Engineers look like Physically Superior Specimens, they appear to be almost Marble Like in their Skin Texture, compared to Flesh of the Planet 4 Engineers! 

The Prometheus Engineers seem to be Integrated with their Bio-Suits!  Which appear to have some Resemblance to the Xenomorph's Body.

So maybe and i Speculate that the Prometheus Engineers are a Genetically Engineered Sub-Creation of those Planet 4 Engineers, they are to those Engineers what the Replicants are to Humans.

And thus A.I..... which is maybe WHY the Engineer had Pity on his Face when he Stroked David's Hair before pulling his HEAD OFF.... the Engineer maybe knew that HE and DAVID are similar... Superior Sub-Creations that were made to Serve their Masters!

The OLD Plot for Prometheus was the Engineers had Engineered themselves to the Point they COULD-NOT go and Procreate...  and indicated they Lived for Thousands of Years.

Yet RS had suggest the Planet 4 Engineers would LIVE for about 150 Years and we can see they CAN go and Procreate and have Females and Infants.

David cant Procreate, and he can OUTLIVE his Creators.

Thats why i FEEL that David and the Engineers of LV-223 are the Same... the Same ARC!    And so what we are being shown with David on Planet 4 is maybe what the Sub-Created Engineers of LV-223 had began to do for maybe the SAME REASON!

Me too i Never paid any Attention to that Detail, as far as the Figure being Elephantine.

Its a Interesting Interpretation of that Scene, i had before Wondered if they Wore that Mask if it would offer some Better Protection ;)    Nice to see someone else Noticed it.

I had not Paid Attention in detail to the Sound Track/Silence then Sounds with the Helmet compared to the Face Hugger Scene so thats also a Nice Catch.

Lucky she NEVER made a Mistake towards the END like Bishop did with his Knife Trick....  Stepping on someones Ankle could have been Painful ;)

I always FELT the AC Trailer Song was Very Fitting to David.

I think it FITS in Perfectly with David as i do detect that he is not ALL Sinister.... I am drawn to David in regards to the Embyo's on the Covenant as though he would RAISE them as his OWN and Upbringing them in Ways that are Different to what had become of Mankind....

I had envisioned that Davids Arc regarding those Children would be similar to what we are seeing in Regards to Mother from Raised by Wolves.

Sadly it seems that David was a Unfortunate result of his Upbringing and Treatment at the Hands of Humans.

Well we have had a Sequel to Prometheus.... however maybe the Idea i had could STILL work and fit, as it had No Connection really to what Happens to David and Dr Shaw and the Xenomorph Origins.

Upon getting Alien Covenant however i saw it maybe Pointless in doing a Idea for Sequels...  However i did have  a FEW regarding a Alien Covenant Sequel which i had Mentioned on here, ONE i actually Felt is what i Interpreted that a Sequel would be like which kind of is VERY similar in ways to Raised by Wolves but i had put down my Idea/Interpretation of AC2 like Months before Raised by Wolves was even announced ;)

I think its a Folly to pursue a Sequel to AC because the Plot Direction and Revelations are NOT what quite  a LOT of Fans would be interested in, and also some Prometheus Fans would also see that a LOT of the Potential with the Engineers was Brushed under the Carpet with Alien Covenant.

I dont think you can Rescue it Theatrically and so a Continuation would be best Served in a Novel.

I think the Prequels with Prometheus had STEERED AWAY and Ignored what many Fans had Expected and AWAY from what they think that a ALIEN Franchise should be about.  I think many Fans also would have not seen the ENGINEERS as being ALIEN enough too.

Its a Shame as there was Scope and Potential with the Engineers Plot that OPENED UP the Franchise beyond EGGS and QUEENS.

So its WHERE do you GO?   If your NOT going to Continue with the Prequels or at least Davids Arc and where he goes NEXT?

How do you get Humans to Discover and Interact with a Engineer threat that does-not touch on the aftermath of Alien Covenant?

If you decide to go for another Story that Ignores the Prequels as in it does-not cover the Engineers, then its a case of HOW do you basically introduce us to Humans who come across AGAIN.... Eggs or a Xenomorph Specimen and ONCE you have done that then WHATS NEXT?  You cant keep going back to that same Formula surely?

But CERTAINLY any kind of Reboot or Retcon is NOT going to be Helpful apart from a Cash Grab or Fan Service!

Unless your going to Continue after Alien Resurrection.

I think the Engineers Plot had OPENED UP the Franchise to a Galaxy (and more) of Horrors and Threats from other Species......  as i think you cant keep going back to Xenomorphs over and over.

Yeah, this is an old thread, but I did have an Alien dream meant for a collaborative video that never happened a few years ago.

I pushed the snooze button a few times like normal, got out of bed, did the morning routine and went upstairs to grab some coffee and my lunch for work. As I walked upstairs, I could hear the coffee pot hissing like it does when it's almost done. I walked into the kitchen to see that a Xenomorph towered over me and blocked my path into the kitchen. The hissing was from the Xenomorph. It got in my face hissing and drooling.....then I woke up and realized it was only a dream- but it was very realistic.

Funny, I was actually just thinking of something like this

The Engineers likely have a VERY Ordered society, which might lead to what strata/castes can use what knowledge/tech.
