The opening scenes are fantastic. The helmets are a little bonkers, though. It's just for artistic effect. It's also a bit disturbing that some of the helmets switch from having a red cylindrical "port" on the outside to it being on the inside of the helmet visor. Continuity errors. Whatever, they look cool.

Indeed we have to Remember that RS had called those on Planet 4 the Civilians and those on LV-223 the Military.

I think RS had mentioned some Interesting comments before, such as he claimed that he DID-NOT want to Meet God in the First Movie in relation to some of the Deleted Scenes which would suggest the Engineers in Prometheus Theatrical Cut are NOT the Hierarchy

He also calls those Engineers a few times DARK ANGELS... implying Fallen.

I recall but i cant find WHERE now that he also said those Planet 4 Engineers are the Original Engineers.  As i cant seem to Find where i thought i Heard this i could be Mistaken.

What we do know is he Referred to the Hall of Heads guys as the Apostles, Wise Men, Superior Beings and they are the Hierarchy.   And so maybe they are the GODS that RS did-not want to meet in Prometheus.

We could maybe Assume the Hall of Heads are the ELDERS who RS had removed from Prometheus but WHY?  Maybe its because RS had a intention to Redesign those Elders so maybe they would LOOK more like Planet 4 Engineers and not the Prometheus ones?

RS has said in the Past that David was a A.I that was NOT grown from a Embryo he was Born/Created Fully that Size.. this is ODD it implies that RS feels some A.I can be Grown!

When talking about AC2 he said it would be about A.I and he also said that the Replicants were A.I and so again this is Implying he thinks that any Artificially Engineered Creation regardless of Biological or Synthetic is A.I

Which brings me back to when RS had Teased about their being maybe more than ONE Robot/A.I in Prometheus, this Lead to Fans thinking could Vickers be a Robot?   I would say NO.

So there was ONLY a Single Robot? David!

From the other Comments RS has made since Prometheus it seems that RS sees that A.I does-not have to Synthetic.

If those Engineers on Planet 4 are related to the Hall of Heads Elders, but then those Engineers in Prometheus are NOT the Gods/Hierarchy.   Maybe we need to LOOK at the Difference between the Planet 4 and LV-223 Engineers.

The Prometheus Engineers look like Physically Superior Specimens, they appear to be almost Marble Like in their Skin Texture, compared to Flesh of the Planet 4 Engineers! 

The Prometheus Engineers seem to be Integrated with their Bio-Suits!  Which appear to have some Resemblance to the Xenomorph's Body.

So maybe and i Speculate that the Prometheus Engineers are a Genetically Engineered Sub-Creation of those Planet 4 Engineers, they are to those Engineers what the Replicants are to Humans.

And thus A.I..... which is maybe WHY the Engineer had Pity on his Face when he Stroked David's Hair before pulling his HEAD OFF.... the Engineer maybe knew that HE and DAVID are similar... Superior Sub-Creations that were made to Serve their Masters!

The OLD Plot for Prometheus was the Engineers had Engineered themselves to the Point they COULD-NOT go and Procreate...  and indicated they Lived for Thousands of Years.

Yet RS had suggest the Planet 4 Engineers would LIVE for about 150 Years and we can see they CAN go and Procreate and have Females and Infants.

David cant Procreate, and he can OUTLIVE his Creators.

Thats why i FEEL that David and the Engineers of LV-223 are the Same... the Same ARC!    And so what we are being shown with David on Planet 4 is maybe what the Sub-Created Engineers of LV-223 had began to do for maybe the SAME REASON!

Me too i Never paid any Attention to that Detail, as far as the Figure being Elephantine.

Its a Interesting Interpretation of that Scene, i had before Wondered if they Wore that Mask if it would offer some Better Protection ;)    Nice to see someone else Noticed it.

I had not Paid Attention in detail to the Sound Track/Silence then Sounds with the Helmet compared to the Face Hugger Scene so thats also a Nice Catch.

Lucky she NEVER made a Mistake towards the END like Bishop did with his Knife Trick....  Stepping on someones Ankle could have been Painful ;)

I always FELT the AC Trailer Song was Very Fitting to David.

I think it FITS in Perfectly with David as i do detect that he is not ALL Sinister.... I am drawn to David in regards to the Embyo's on the Covenant as though he would RAISE them as his OWN and Upbringing them in Ways that are Different to what had become of Mankind....

I had envisioned that Davids Arc regarding those Children would be similar to what we are seeing in Regards to Mother from Raised by Wolves.

Sadly it seems that David was a Unfortunate result of his Upbringing and Treatment at the Hands of Humans.

Well we have had a Sequel to Prometheus.... however maybe the Idea i had could STILL work and fit, as it had No Connection really to what Happens to David and Dr Shaw and the Xenomorph Origins.

Upon getting Alien Covenant however i saw it maybe Pointless in doing a Idea for Sequels...  However i did have  a FEW regarding a Alien Covenant Sequel which i had Mentioned on here, ONE i actually Felt is what i Interpreted that a Sequel would be like which kind of is VERY similar in ways to Raised by Wolves but i had put down my Idea/Interpretation of AC2 like Months before Raised by Wolves was even announced ;)

I think its a Folly to pursue a Sequel to AC because the Plot Direction and Revelations are NOT what quite  a LOT of Fans would be interested in, and also some Prometheus Fans would also see that a LOT of the Potential with the Engineers was Brushed under the Carpet with Alien Covenant.

I dont think you can Rescue it Theatrically and so a Continuation would be best Served in a Novel.

I think the Prequels with Prometheus had STEERED AWAY and Ignored what many Fans had Expected and AWAY from what they think that a ALIEN Franchise should be about.  I think many Fans also would have not seen the ENGINEERS as being ALIEN enough too.

Its a Shame as there was Scope and Potential with the Engineers Plot that OPENED UP the Franchise beyond EGGS and QUEENS.

So its WHERE do you GO?   If your NOT going to Continue with the Prequels or at least Davids Arc and where he goes NEXT?

How do you get Humans to Discover and Interact with a Engineer threat that does-not touch on the aftermath of Alien Covenant?

If you decide to go for another Story that Ignores the Prequels as in it does-not cover the Engineers, then its a case of HOW do you basically introduce us to Humans who come across AGAIN.... Eggs or a Xenomorph Specimen and ONCE you have done that then WHATS NEXT?  You cant keep going back to that same Formula surely?

But CERTAINLY any kind of Reboot or Retcon is NOT going to be Helpful apart from a Cash Grab or Fan Service!

Unless your going to Continue after Alien Resurrection.

I think the Engineers Plot had OPENED UP the Franchise to a Galaxy (and more) of Horrors and Threats from other Species......  as i think you cant keep going back to Xenomorphs over and over.

Yeah, this is an old thread, but I did have an Alien dream meant for a collaborative video that never happened a few years ago.

I pushed the snooze button a few times like normal, got out of bed, did the morning routine and went upstairs to grab some coffee and my lunch for work. As I walked upstairs, I could hear the coffee pot hissing like it does when it's almost done. I walked into the kitchen to see that a Xenomorph towered over me and blocked my path into the kitchen. The hissing was from the Xenomorph. It got in my face hissing and drooling.....then I woke up and realized it was only a dream- but it was very realistic.

Funny, I was actually just thinking of something like this

The Engineers likely have a VERY Ordered society, which might lead to what strata/castes can use what knowledge/tech.

(Applause) my efforts are absolutely Basic-Simplistic compared to how you weave a storyline structure!! 

Someday, I hope you manage to recover/rebuild enough of it to get a ghostwriter to help you get it Finished!! (Fingers-Crossed)

The Broad Strokes for my Prometheus 2 was not Difficult, it Started with a Set-Up that acts as a Prelude to where David and Dr Shaw will go.... which my Prometheus 3 would cover.

There was also at the End of the 2nd Act, the Yutani Company going off to LV-223 to Investigate what Happened to the Prometheus and make sure that Weyland was Dead.  This was via a Order to send a Yutani Mission in a Conversation with the Yutani CEO.

I was thinking of added a END CREDITS Scene of a Yutani Ship seen heading towards LV-223

But i had NOT worked out much what this SET-UP would be as far as a Parallel Prometheus 3 just a more Alieny Movie like Alien Engineers was, that would give Clues to LV-426 and ALIEN and Close the Door to ALIEN.

As i had Mainly Concentrated on and Come Unstuck with the other Sequel that would be set like 100 Years latter and be WHERE it is that Dr Shaw and David would END UP....

Which GOT kind of Complicated a bit, but was set like 10'000 maybe 20'000 Light Years away and also DEALT with Soul Transfer to a degree...  The Engineers had their OWN kind of Visor Device that can be USED to Pass On Knowledge but also to Recover Memories from people.

It was a Plot Device to allow Dr Shaw to Communicate with the Humanoids and Engineers they Discover, but also a Device that would allow Engineers to Pass On Knowledge to Chosen Few which would included their Space Jesus if you would.  So it could kind of ACT like a Star Trek Trill in a way.... It could be Manipulated and Programed to Take/Read and Pass On Certain things and surely was a Advancement on what Weyland had been trying to Achieve.

But i was also Toying with the Engineers coming across another WAY to Transcend which was via the Origins of the Xenomorph the Starbeast which i Envisioned to be much more like the TRILL from Star Trek ;)

which i would use to Explain in Part to WHY and WHAT they had done on LV-223 and then also that what we see with RIPLEY 8 is Ultimately what the Engineers were trying to do.

But it got Complicated as to HOW to use this, WHICH ideas to USE and which to DROP and i Abandoned it.... and then LOST IT.

With luck, and if they have their siesta early, I should be able to get enough time apart from kittieh-kraziness to get it done tonight. :D

I am not so SURE that RS would have tried to make this Connect to Religion too Literally.

I think the Foremost thing to Consider is the Engineers are Space Gardeners, and what we know they did was SEED many Worlds, and then Visit them and Evolved them, both Genetically and Technologically, to Teach and Nurture their Creations.

However.... it would seem they would ONLY want to teach their Creations Limited stuff, they would NOT want their Creations to Advanced too FAR.

This could apply to their OWN Species too... the Hierarchy would want Control over their OWN kind and other Creations and so the Advanced Technology is maybe LIMITED to Certain Roles such as SEEDING of Worlds and Visiting Worlds.

Its likely that Planet 4 was kept to a more Basic Life Style and Technology but one that was more Advanced than on Earth but they kept to many Ancient Ways... like the Amish People?

Or did they ABANDON their more Advanced Ways?

I have covered my Interpretation of Planet 4 before and HOW it links to Paradise and what does Paradise mean.

In a Nutshell this place is the Cradle of Humanoid Creation and i Speculate those Engineers have Rituals where they are CHOSEN and then taken to be Sacrificed to Seed Worlds and they have Statues Erected in their Honor for their Sacrifice.  I think the Juggernauts serve better as a more Advanced way to SEED their DNA...  that then was used to SEED a World with Corrupt DNA (Deacon).

The Emissary thing is interesting, but it does-not mean we have to have a Space Jesus... that would be like saying of all of the Mythos and Religion on Earth, that the Gospel of Christ is the ONLY real Truth and its Space Jesus.

I would suspect the Engineers would have sent down a Number of Emissaries over the Years, and Jesus was just ONE of those on that Continent.

But Mankind would NOT really Listen and they Killed those Emissaries apart from a Few Cultures who did-not.. Cultures like maybe in South America and this would give reason to WHY we maybe have Star Maps that appeared after 2000 Years ago when its likely the Engineers had Stopped coming to Earth and Prepared Death for us.

Regarding what we Actually Got..... then YES it was Far from Perfect but i think it was Decent, maybe a Few Changes were Needed!

 * Some of the Deleted Scenes would have Helped.

* They could have used similar Trickery that was used in TLOR and Hobbit to give us an Engineer who was 10ft Tall.

* The Fifield Mutation could have used some of the other Concepts.

*The Movie Needing something more Connected to Alien as far as a Monster that ATTACKS and so maybe Milburn Should have Chest Busted or Back Busted something like the Neomorph that then went to Attack a Crew Member and Scurried off to Return Latter.

* Show a Hammpede get Shot and reveal inside some Tiny like Eggs.

 These are some things i added to my attempted Re-Edit of Prometheus in 2012, inc Fleshing Out some Scenes to Reduce some STUPID Moments.

I have to agree i FEEL that some of the FLAK for Prometheus comes because it Simply was NOT the way Certain things should have been Done, well some people was not Pleased, and indeed some things were NOT to everyone’s liking... but thats the Problem when making a Prequel to a WELL KNOWN and Much Loved Franchise.....

As a Stand Alone then i think its Decent and Different....

 If Prometheus say ....

 * Never Featured the Weyland Company or Weylands Name

* If it Never was set on LV-223 but some other Named World (No LV)

* If the Engineer Ships did-not look like the Derelict (inc the Pilot Chair).

* If the Engineers Suits did-not look like the Space Jockey

* If the Mural featured Creatures that had NOTHING to do with Xenomorph.

* If the Deacon was replaced with something that looked Nothing like the Xenomorph

* Or the Engineer was shown to start to Vomit Black and then Mutate before our Eyes into something like  THIS.

Then i think it maybe would not have got Criticized in some ways, i know the Movie had other Flaws, but i think a lot of people may have felt Certain Parts just did-not connect to ALIEN Franchise Quite how they would have Expected or Wanted.

I feel if it was a Stand Alone with the Same Plot, but Removed all the Connections like i made in the (*) Points then it could have had the Freedom to Introduce us to a NEW Sci-Fi and NOT have to then Proceed to what became Alien Covenant.

I will expand on it.... after the Opening Scene which is a Mash Up Engineers and David and Dr Shaw..... which is to indicate the Engineers came to Earth to take Primates to Evolve on LV-223....  as we Zoom on the Primates Brown Eyes then Zoom out... we see its Dr Shaw and David stands over her in the Cryo-Pod... unable to Read her Dreams... so he then goes into a Day-Dream and that the Weyland/David Prologue.

AFTER THIS...

We arrive at a Space Station and we are in a Board Meeting to discus the Future of the Weyland Company since its been 2.5 Years with Nothing from the Prometheus.

We hear from Various Members of the Board and we have Peter Weylands Nephew who is there,  we get a Video Call or Audio by his Father who Announces due to ILL HEALTH (he is Dying too) that he wishes to Pass his Control to his SON.......  anyway the Board Meeting Continues about a Dead Line in 7 Days before Weyland and Vickers are Declared ...... Dead/Missing.

In which case then Peters Brother would inherit his Shares and the Vast Majority of the Company which will be Ran by his SON until his passing were upon his SON will Inherit it.

We then get a Shot of a Shuttle that Docks, and we see a Female in a Suit holding a Briefcase as she walks into the Board Room (we dont see her Head)  Just as the Board Meeting is Concluding.... 

We see that the Females Hands place a Briefcase from behind to be laid in Front of one of the Chair Members/Solicitor.   He says and what is THIS.... we then hear a Familiar Voice saying (Open It)

We Pan to see a Female with Short Dark Hair... she removes her Sun Glasses..... its MISS VICKERS..

The Board Members are Shocked... it cant be RIGHT?

She says you think that my FATHER would be so Foolish to send his ONLY CHILD all the way on that Ill Fated Mission and allow you CLOWNS to Run the Business?   She says that Weyland had KNOWN they would TRY and Shaft him out of the Company as they knew he was Dying. And so they Pretended that Vickers went along on the Prometheus but she had been in Hiding and Preparing for the Day when Weyland would be Announced Missing.

The Briefcase contains a Screen with a Video Message from a Dying Weyland... made Days before his Departure to LV-223,  we see that Weyland leaves his Estate and Shares to his Beloved Daughter.... Meredith Vickers

This is the SET UP for the PLOT TWIST

Towards the 2nd Act we would see that Weylands Nephew is UPSET that he is NOT going to get Majority Control over the Company.... and so he Arranges a Meeting with the CEO of Yutani

You see for Weylands Nephew was more a Play Boy than Peter Weyland... he wanted to SELL 50% of the Weyland Assets to Yutani so that he can Live the PLAY BOY Life....  He only wanted to keep the Bio-Medicine and few other Aspects...    Yutani was going to BUY the Space Program/Teraforming and Synthetics Patents.

But that Plan is  BUST now..... Weylands Nephew jokes well if you got Miss Vickers Assassinated i would give you what you want... The CEO of Yutani makes a Deal... i will take care of HER....  When she is Dead the Company is yours and you Hand Over what i want.....

When we CUT to the Final Stages we see Weylands Nephew arranges a Meeting with Vickers..... he says he Wants to make a Deal to SELL his Fathers Shares to her.

He has TWO Women with him in his Office... she Mocks him about his Drinking and Women, and how he Cant Keep hold of a Real Woman.....  he says to her "come on you know growing up you wanted to Fuck me"

She says to him about how HE has NO Care/Respect for the Company and the Hard Work her Father had put into it and Money his Father had too... and that he ONLY wants to SELL IT for Money for his Play Boy wanna be Life Style.  And he has NO RESPECT for the Legacy of the Weyland Company.

He goes on to say WHAT USE is Legacy and the Company when your DEAD, what Good has it all done for your Father, and he used to Look Up to her Father before he GOT OLD, started to NOT think about Living Life but the Fear of Death and Worked in Vain on trying to CHEAT DEATH.... "How did that go my Dear?"

She then says to him you Cant Wait until your Fathers Death to get your Hands on his Shares so you can Sell it to the Highest Bidder!

He Replies  is that NOT what she Wants.....  which She says to SELL OUT!.... He says NO for your Father to DIE so its all yours!

She says she will Continue the Legacy of her Father, he had made so many Gains for the Future.

He says "Meradith have you not grown up, do you still want to play with DOLLS"  then he says "your Dad was Fascinated with his DOLLS, he even Cared more for that Dumb Doll David than he did for his own Daughter"

She gets MAD, and says well those DOLLS where more Human than you ever ARE!

He then says Maybe when i Sell my Shares i can Purchase some SEX ROBOTS off you?  I wonder if you Father ever had more Interest in Sex Robots than you... maybe he should have Modeled One after YOU!

This Hits a Nerve with Vickers.

He jokes maybe your Father was more Interested in David, are you sure he even Fathered You?

She Grabs him by the Collar.....  He Shouts "i really could do with some Tea"

Then a Door Opens and TWO Geisha walk in with some Tea, they kind of look like Porcelain their White Faces looking more like Plastic than Paint..... Then Vickers releases HIM.... She then says so you already have some SEX ROBOTS, i guess No Human could want you.

He says... well YES those Dolls could have a USE for that, but i think that Military are the Best Use for ROBOTS, and i would like you too meet some of Yutani's Finest.

Then they ATTACK... but Miss Vickers puts up a Good Fight, then she does BETTER, she throws the ONE to the WALL and the other Grabs her from Behind and then Vickers throws her over her Shoulder and PULLS OFF its Head!

Then she pushes Weylands Newphew to the Floor and Stands over him, we see a few Drips of Blood... NO like MILK drops onto his Face, as we PAN to his POV we see that Vickers has a CUT and she is Bleeding Milk..... MISS VICKERS is a God Damn ROBOT.

Yutani Security Burst in, and Pull their Guns on Vickers...

Her Cousin then looks on at her... WELL WELL WELL... i always thought you was a COLD BLOODED BITCH! Now it makes Sense...

He Pulls out a Gun and Shoots her in the Chest....

She Falls to the Floor, as her Cousin grabs a Tea Cloth to Wipe the Blood Off, she Crawls over to a Suitcase and Opens it up and Activates a Program...

He turns to her and goes that Video Will and Testament is NO GOOD to you, a ROBOT has no RIGHTS... He tells the Security to KILL her... and they DO...

We then Cut to the Smashed Screen of the Tablet in the Briefcase..

We can just make out the Screen where its NOT cracked...

PROTOCOL 27655:1 Activated...  Program Rook... Upload Complete...

We CUT to Credits.

Was it a Great movie? No.

Was it a Bad movie? No.

Also, reading your posts above...you have the most Interestingly-deep perspective of the ALIEN universe and the various elements in a 'gestalt' view...you're able to see it all, and play with alternate directions of the various sub-elements.
