Do we think the other creatures are variations of different Xenomorphs / Facehuggers? That would be interesting actually... Different Xenomorphs from different environments and hosts would be fascinating to explore.

SvanyaAlien: Earth NewsIGN releases new Alien: Earth Gestation clip, but the Alien doesn't look like a Xenomorph

Yea, it looks a bit like Shaw's squid-baby, it's also hatching like Sil did in Species (Alien Romulus used that as well). I think this series is using the old Kenner toys versions of the Xenos. The poster that was released today features the flying-bug facehugger/Xeno that was in the trailer and was part of the toy collection from 1987 ish, after Aliens came out. The same toyline that had a metallic looking Bishop.

I'm honestly more excited to get some Android/Synthetics lore, Scott was going to do that for the 2nd Alien Covenant movie that was never produced, hoping they expand on the lore here.

That's definitely a flying-bug facehugger in the container, just like the old Kenner toys! The one in the first teaser was flying so it's got to be this one.

BUMP! I've revived the Alien: Analects official page here on the site and added a link to it in our sidebar (expand using the = menu icon top right if you're on mobile). It's been many years since we announced this series and since then it's garnered discussion across many platforms even without us promoting it. I figured with the new series coming out it would be good to bring attention back to this project and fun to reminisce!

I'm all for expanding the lore and exploring different Xenomorph host concoctions but I really hope they don't get carried away and diminish the essence/mystery surrounding the organism itself.

Yog SothothAlien: Romulus ForumAlien: Romulus Offspring Discussion - Gender specific effects of Black Goo Accelerant?

I think there could be a genetic handshake going on, between the engineer DNA within the Xenomorphs and the minimal Engineer DNA still left in humans after all this time, but it would mostly be coming from the Xenomorph's recent engineer
relationship.

Yog SothothAlien: Romulus ForumAlien: Romulus Offspring Discussion - Gender specific effects of Black Goo Accelerant?

*The reason that the Offspring looks like an engineer,* is that the original xenomorphs were spawned as the end result of engineers being infected with the black goo (as shown in the huge mural in the engineer temple, in Prometheus).
Thus, xenomorphs have a recent DNA relationship to engineers. This latent engineer DNA was then manifested in the xenomorph-human hybrid Offspring creature, seen at the end of the Romulus movie. It's not because "Engineers are related to humans". That wouldn't work at all, because engineers started ALL LIFE on Earth, not just humans. Humans would be very distantly related to engineers. We're more related to apes, rats, frogs and goldfish than the very starting point of
life, billions of years ago.

For a refresher, it would be nice to finally have in the film/tv show Xenomorphs spawned from other hosts; an early draft of AVP had a lot of those. A Gorilla Xenomorph would be sick.

People are speculating that the flying thing seen in the Alien: Earth teaser is something like this

XenotarisAlien: Earth ForumAlien: Earth Special Look clip+ new look at the Xenomorph

Well technically most xenomorphs we have seen in the ALIEN films were birthed from primates. I'm not sure if the DNA reflex would drastically differ between different primate groups such as lemurs, monkeys, or ape (including humans).

It would be interesting if this xenomorph were to be birthed from a monkey, then at least some of Kenner's xenomorphs will get canonized.

I reanalyzed it, there are 4 small back tubes (facepalms), and the shoulder tubes are more round. Matches with the practical suit from months ago. The Xeno's front head looks off to me, and that seems to be a lot of people's complaint, in a way it reminds me of the McFarlane toys Alien 3, Runner alien

It still makes me wonder if is it a xenomorph spawned from a primate

Neomorph Alien: Earth NewsNew Alien: Earth video offers first look at a Xenomorph attack!

My guess is that the guy in the chair is a traitor (note his deadpan expression despite the circumstances) perhaps an android who deliberately attempts to deliver a xenomorph specimen or more to earth, either by going rogue like David or as per company instructions.

"I'm sure they build more than one Narcissus "class" of escape ships"

This is what I was about to say. The Narcissus-class shuttles seem to be a very reliable starcraft so it would make sense that they continued to use its design for future shuttlecrafts. I mean in real life we still have in service Vietnam Era bombers.

The design cues are definitely different with this Xeno compared to Kane's Son / Big Chap. I concur, it likely could be a Xenomorph born from a non-human host. Thanks for sharing this, I'll get it front paged! Been swamped with a million things lately but with the series coming up I'm going to make time to get more Alien: Earth content out!

LamarukeAlien ForumAliens vs Avengers #2 preview

Marvel of course tries to suck the oxygen out of everything in their pursuit of profit, but I’m actually enjoying Aliens vs Avengers and find the story rather refreshing in its depiction of a rapidly shrinking group of meta-humans who are faced with a threat they have no power to overcome. When it comes to comics, one can never expect a perfect working in of all the great ideas in either intellectual product but (and thankfully for this) we are sesgetting a greatly reduced Marvel universe and don’t have to worry about; ‘what about Galactus? What about the Watchers? Where is Asgard while Earth is being overrun? Such questions really have no place in a story like Aliens vs Avengers and because we are seeing a much smaller universe where meta-humans exist we have real drama and cost.(boy, do we have cost! Everyone is dropping like flies in this tale and I’m caught up in the ride) It happens so rarely that it’s easy to dismiss but when a writer and artist have respect for the properties involved they can craft a fine tale. Good story telling can rise above what is generally served to the public and I’m enjoying the meal.

I agree that it just seems to complicate everything and Alvarez is simply musing. Personally, I find the need to explain EVERYTHING a wrong headed creative effort best left alone. I will say however, that Jonesy’ explanation is the only way that this would work for me if it ever became cannon. I must say that I find the idea of a sequel to Alien: Romulus rather exiting and would certainly welcome it. Alien is charting new territory and everyone involved is dedicated to delivering the best and most imaginative stories. -Well thought out stories that don’t seem to be a simple cash grab.
Every other major science fiction franchise has grown rather long in the tooth and seem to lack the fire of a creative spark. (I would single out the Planet of the Apes franchise for rebooting and rising like a Phoenix to thrill us with an amazing example of reworking the very concept of the franchise and giving us something new and brilliant)

LamarukePrometheus ForumYour thoughts on Prometheus

Prometheus does something that no other franchise does, in that it opens the series up expanding on the whole cosmic sweep of the promise of a mysterious universe that holds more than we could ever realize.

we now see that the Alien is but a small piece of the puzzle and that the Engineers are an advanced race capable of biological and technological feats that could make them masters of the universe. (Or perhaps, gardeners is a more appropriate term)

Just my opinion, but I feel the Space Jockeys and the Engineers are NOT the same race because the alien derelict and the space jockey within appear to have been there for perhaps a million years or more. This of course, leads to the question; if they are not of the same race, where did the Engineers come from? Are they bioengineered from others stock? (Mankind?)

And of course, we also have to explain why then seemed intent on destroying earth, and what would prompt such a course of action.

In my view, Prometheus is a brilliant first movie in a trilogy that has enormous room to expand on the entire alien franchise, raising it up to potential heights that no other sci-fi franchise has even attempted before.

what the future holds for this franchise we will have to wait and see, but the potential is THERE and we only need someone with a vision to bring us the story that will turn everything on its head and amaze us all.

JonesyAlien: Romulus ForumWas Ellen Ripley on the Romulus station as well during the film? Alvarez likes to think so.

I think Ripley never really woke up during the whole Alien to Romulus timeline. She was never the Company's priority. The company probably pick up Narcissus first and dock it in Romulus Station, hoping to find some clues about the whole incident, but then they found Big Chap so they just left Ripley there continue sleeping lol.

LamarukePrometheus ForumWhat really were Engineers doing in the Prometheus movie and why did mission to destroy Earth failed?

I believe you’re absolutely right in saying that all the answers were there and that we missed something!!

I also like your statement about it not making sense that LV223 seemed to be a place of worship and reverence for the Alien life form and then we learn that the plane was to go to Earth and destroy All life there.
It seems to me that the obvious answer is that there are TWO groups of Engineers and that LV223 was conquered by the second group who then learned of Earth and were interrupted before they could implement their plan.
