ignorantGuy what episode does he mention the Xeno!? I have not come across that one yet.

I've been thoroughly enjoying his Outward Bounds colonization series at the moment, and have only deviated to Stupid Aliens and a handful of others briefly.

I've seen him briefly mention the Yautja/predator species in the above Stupid Aliens series.

BioDegradable Very interesting. It also seems pretty consistent with some things BD hasn't publicly posted.

I presume it is safe to say that you are a bit obsessive dismissing the central if not the biggest character in the Prometheus and Alien Covenant.

At this point, what you are really doing is ruling out the few semi-feasible ideas floating around. And it is not like there are many of those to choose from and dismiss this, that or the other. Yet here you are, kicking BigDave into fetal position over and over.

Have you put out any possible scenario for future follow-up of your own in any considerable details? Perhaps some particularly interesting aspects or key ideas that you deem worthy pursuing? Please, consider putting a meaningful effort into this and let us see the results.

BigDave

not many fans of David are here, ay?

With David gone, you get an end to the journey of Peter Weyland to immortality. I question if it should be dismissed and abandoned by focusing on a rather already thin and bankrupt alien xeno species?

It also will not make a lot of sense, given the constraints of screen time and scope where the sequel should indeed march towards the inevitable, to introduce yet another species or another unknown and therefore intriguing mystery, be it engineers or some aspect of them or about them. Don't you get overwhelmed at some point seeing no end of the same trick being played again and again? Santa Barbara in space? The world is rich as is and doesn't need introduction of other mystical creatures to play out any interesting ideas. So no engineer world exploration. None of that gimmick.

For the sake of Peter Weyland and his journey, David as his descendant needs to leave some form of enduring concept if he is to be ejected because of the pressure by alien fans. Otherwise, what is the point of Prometheus, Weyland and his journey? With David gone Weyland's spirit is erased in that imaginary Alien universe. It will remain only as a nonsensical name, a brand of some mega corporation without any being(artificial or otherwise) that can claim to be a descendant of illustrious and worthy Weyland. Ironically, David is also the carrier of Shaw's spirit. Long story short - you get rid of him, you can actually forget watching Prometheus.

For me David is what Peter wanted to be, but couldn't. In fact Peter envied David. They are actually one and the same character - both ruthless, a bit egoistic(understatement) and grandiose. Of course, they are both worth their salt. So what shall be the legacy of Weyland/David? I think BigDave got it right - it has to be the next step of evolution of mankind. And they should be practically immortal - something that Weyland wanted for himself.

However, given the constraints there won't be any world building, terraforming and all that for these creatures. What should happen is this: we are shown how these perfect humans are engineered by David, he makes a few(most? all? of the embryos) of these while on the Covenant on the path to Origae-6. And when he reaches the destination - he only finds a barren planet that will not sustain life for his children. Of course, humans on earth made a mistake expecting the planet to be wonderful - after all it is only human to make mistakes, ay David? At this point, Planet 4 or the Earth is the only known places that can sustain life. And both of these planets are soon to be full of humans. Now, of course, these sub-humans are not life worthy and dangerous to David and his ilk. So he has got to do what he has to do - sometimes to create one has to ...

It is only handy that he has his other children - another perfect organism which will no doubt do the job. So he will have the remaining colonists converted into eggs, load them up on one of those ships on LV-223 and go bomb the Earth. That is the plan anyway. There is not enough of eggs to be made from human colonists so some of his new children will have to be sacrificed for the greater good, according to David anyway. Except that his children might not like his idea completely. How do they settle the argument?

It would seem reasonable for Disney to pony up funds for a 6 episode mini season- each being around 20 minutes, and then seeing if there is enough support to continue.

GavinAlien: Covenant ForumAre the Eggs on LV-426 Still There?

@hox,

Good points,

But remember that LV-426, AKA Acheron is a moon with an equatorial diameter of 12,201 km, and a rotational period of merely 2 hours. The night side of which was, in 2122, beset with a constant and violent Stormfront (think Crematoria from Chronicles of Riddick, but flip day and night)

Using Pie multiplied by Diameter, or 3.14159 x 12,201, gives us an equatorial circumference of 38,330 km (Earths is 40,075 km).

30mph is akin to 48 kmph, meaning it would take the Jordens' prospector 798 hours, or 33 Earth Days to circumnavigate LV-426.

I have maintained lately that I believe it took Hadley's Hope 20 years to find the derelict Juggernaut because the violent night storms prevented travel too far from the colony, and that the colony's Atmosphere Processor may have eventually tamed said night storms allowing for the Jordens to venture out toward the coordinates given to them, indirectly by Burke, Carter J.

Definitely, they are watching. But I don't believe, if they will do a live-action Alien series, that they will do a low budget one. Like Mr. Iger said, they are starting "from a position of strength, confidence and unbridled optimism.”

GavinAlien: Covenant ForumThe juggernaut is a female reproductive system?

Long term members who were here when this was Prometheus-Movie.com will remember that I too postulated the possibility that the Juggernauts are living vessels and female in nature, referencing Moya from Farscape and the Vorlon vessels from Babylon 5 as contemporaries.

I made the same observations regarding the "Set" inspired artwork BigDave showed us, showing the aliens lifecycle that Giger made for the first movie, and the obviousness of the three vaginal shaped entrances, and the possibility that the cargo bay was akin to a womb - although I now believe the eggs to be in an "augmented" dome upon which the derelict Juggernaut has docked with (more on that in a fresh topic, soon).

I also envisioned/speculated that the Space Jockey, and by extension the Engineers connected to the vessel on more than just a physical level - that the connection was mental and sexual also. This could even be used to explain why David murdered Shaw, slaughtered the Engineers and recreated the Xenomorph; because he was coerced by the Juggernaut.

@working joe & hox,

Again back in 2011/12, I postulated that Paradise would likely be a dark reimagining of the Wizard of Oz, with Giger and Lovecraftian inspired landscapes and grand visuals, with Shaw and David being guided through a series of macabre and deeply philosophical revelations. And at the beginning of this journey, I imagined the Juggernaut docking onto a landing platform atop a spire by having three phallic shaped erections enter into the Juggernauts three exits. Furthermore, I imagined at the tip of these phallic structures would be a small sealed hole that when touched would stretch open allowing those within the Juggernaut to pass through and inside them, with them acting essentially as penile airlock umbilicals.

So this service starts in November for $7 USD a month (probably a basic SD package)- not bad. They will need a lot of content to attract customers who don't GAF about superheroes or Disney kid shows. If an Alien series was confirmed, tbh, I would probably wait until the series was complete, sub long enough to watch it and then unsub.

Faulty hardware, I’d say, after many decades of operation. The neutral power cable to my house burned out a while back. Since then, my Apple TV intermittently forgets what it’s doing. Knackered. I got a replacement in the end. David’s ‘brain’ is not a perfect design. It probably has marvellous self-repair mechanisms, but damaged memories are damaged memories. And when one note is off...

NB, that’s a theme covered in another Scott film: Hannibal. Lecter winces visibly when a member of the orchestra plays a few duff notes.

If the Juggernaut has three ‘vaginas’ on its front side, I imagine there must be some kind of ship somewhere with three ‘penises’. Or maybe she enjoys group sex!

hoxAlien: Covenant ForumAre the Eggs on LV-426 Still There?

@chli, Bishop told us in all seriousness that the vicinity of Hadley’s hope was about to become a cloud of vapour the size of Nebraska. If that’s true – and there’s no reason to believe otherwise – the Juggernaut would have to be at least 100 miles away from the colony to survive the blast. Probably more like 200 miles.

If the Jordan’s vehicle could sustain an average speed of something like 30mph on LV426 – possible if most of the journey was over cooled lava – that would mean a six or seven hour ride, which is not unreasonable for a pioneer family.

in my opinion, the Juggernaut did not get fried, and the eggs are still there.

"One live-action series is called “The Mandalorian.” Set in the “Star Wars” universe and created by Jon Favreau, the show cost an estimated $100 million for 10 episodes"

I wish them all the success with this... its trying something a bit different, i think Solo was a attempt at this and IF that movie did well, you would think we would have had a sequel that would have been about Smuggling, and other stuff and what DARK operation  MAUL was behind..

But Solo Bombed!  and they Abandoned any other Spin-Offs... no Obi Wan, no Bobba Fett etc etc.

So and in context to the OT.... this indicated WHILE they had Pulled the Plug on Expanded Universe Movies and Certainly Legends Off-Shoot Movies (about Famous Characters),  for them to be interested in a Star Wars TV Series that may revolve little or NO connection to Franchise Characters, or maybe also NO Force Users... could be interesting.

In context to the OT this could indicate they may be willing to do Expanded Alien Universe TV Series that does-not revolve around the Xenomorph, Ripley or the Origins.

So if we look at other Aspects within the Franchise as DK had discussed in his TOPIC HERE then even if Disney go for a similar route with a 40% Budget of that Mandalorian Star Wars Project i think a Alien-Verse movie that is not about Alien Monsters or Engineers could well be done on a $4M a Episode Budget.

It depends HOW much they regard the Alien Franchise... as the X-Men is BIG but we could see the Alien Franchise with Potential.... as far as STAR WARS... this is a HUGE Franchise and so you can see why they would invest in it.

If this Spin Off Mandalorian does not do well, then maybe Disney could Question doing Movie Franchise TV Spin Offs so Fingers crossed it does very well.

Good Points Thoughts_Dreams

Especially 28 Days later reference....  like the Walking Dead Series, at first it was about Zombies, but then they just became a Sub Plot... showing Humans are more of a Threat to Each other... its how you handle any such Plot... there are LOADS of Zombie Movies and Shows...  the Ones that WORK are those who use Human Characters and other Threats Well!

The Prequels open up a lot to be expanded... the idea of a Hadleys Hope but not about Xenomorphs could be tricky, and indeed its about what other threats could they face before the outbreak?

Hadleys Hope is bound to NOT be the only Colony/Mining place that Weyland-Yutani had set up... so there could be another place that Humans have set-up on, that eventually they stumble on something different...  like what if they DUG UP some Black Goo Urns/Ampoules..... even USED/EMPTY ones at First so they are NO harm and seen as some Archeological Find!  Where they think the World they are no must have been inhabited by a Ancient Race.

So they go FULL SCALE Dig..... and Regret it!

Alien: Exhumation (or Exhumed) could work (was title for a project i worked on of similar, but smaller Mining Outpost... more like size of Outpost 31 from The Thing where they uncover a Organism that i infer is what Engineers Re-Engineered the Xenomorph from).

But title could fit with any kind of Mining Colony who Unearth something related to the Black Goo or Xenomorph.

I wonder if we could look at Alien Covenant 2 as at Ridley Scott's version of Alens.

We have the colonists and a couple of facehuggers, we have the promise of a queen in Advent. The Company is duly informed and they might send the Colonial Marines ;).

And on top of everything, we have David, as if Ash was left behind on the LV426 to observe the lethal effect of the xenomorphs on the colonists.

Why the heck there was no android with the colonists on LV426, JC? How would the Company find out more about the xenomorph if they did not send anybody to study it?

The more I think about Aliens, the more I see only JC's hubris, he designed a queen and he needed to show it to the whole world, the second Giger.

Ha Ha!

I dont mean exactly the same... i think a combination of both with a different skin tone... No-Eyes look of the 2nd one onto the First One (eye socket dude) then maybe that could be interesting?

@Thoughts_Dreams

I have mentioned this a number of times to your (dont want a David Movie) comments... they are very Valid, because i think the Majority would be in a similar boat to you... They should have gave the Fans a ALIENY movie, that does-not connect to David and Dr Shaw... say they (other Mission/Humans) go to LV-223.

Then leaves David to go off and have his Davids Odyssey Prequels.  that DONT connect to ALIEN or the Xenomorph.

But ALAS!

Now we are in Direct ALIEN Prequel Territory, Fans are not going to want to SIT THROUGH more than 30 Min of What Lovely World David has Built Plot!

So indeed something more like What Kind of a World has David $£%^$^ UP... may be more fitting!

The Covenant intended to go to Origae-6 as some NEW Start a NEW Eden.... those Colonist Totally Unaware of what happened in Alien Covenant.... any other Secondary Mission to Origae-6 would be expecting to reach a very EARTH like World where the Covenant Colony has been set up.

INSTEAD they Discover HELL...

Again i think Fans would not want to SIT THOUGH a Movie about David... so we have to arrive at a point AFTER this World David had created maybe for Kind Intentions has gone TITS-UP..

Taking into ACCOUNT a lot of Fans Likes/Dislikes i have came up with a ALIEN 5 idea i will post on here at some point over the NEXT 4-7 Days...   its a Continuation of Alien Resurrection.

At the same time i have just had a idea for a Alien Covenant 2 that would try and please everyone... which would be a After-Math like movie, that will show David Redeem himself (small role) and will continue with the Themes of Prometheus (Creation, Rebellion and Retribution).

To give the idea away a little.... you see David may want to Create his own Humanity, because in Prometheus he appeared to be Neglected by Mankind, but the Alien Covenant Trailer Song by AURORA i think is very fitting to Davids Journey and he did say to Daniels if we are KIND it would be KIND world.

So David could have intentions of Creating a Paradise for Humans he would Engineer/Perfect... but the Hubris would be in Perfecting these beings... he could Create a Superior Race who REBEL against him... Dethrone him!

We get this via Flash Backs... because we arrive at a incoming Human Ship with more Colonist and Supplies... they arrive at Origae-6 and see the Colony has been set-up but there is a lack of Technology, its like a Middle Aged Settlement...

The incoming Humans Arrive... and they discover there is something DIFFERENT with these other Humans... as Questions Start, we get a Sinister Turn, where the incoming Humans are at the Peril of these other Humanoids.

Some that escape discover David's Corpse.. they Activate Him and he tells them what he did and WHY, and how he regrets it...  he WANTS Revenge against his Rebellious  Creations and he informs the Surviving Humans about another Creation... he says he has to Unleash his Wolf on his Lambs... and says THIS Beast would be the ONLY defense they would have against the THREAT of these Humanoids...

This is when we can introduce the Xenomorph... which would then infect those Humans, while some escape and the Xenomorphs would go on to KILL those Humanoids David had created... and infect some of them...

As the Human Survivors Escape... as they arrive at their Main Ship, they discover another Ship has arrived a Weyland-Yutani Military/Science Ship...

This can lead to the 2nd Movie or the 3RD act if the Movie idea spans say 2.5hrs

In a Sequel.

This can lead to them going down to clear up the Xenomorphs and Davids other Creations... but reveal a attempt to obtain the Xenomorph but then the Engineers Rock Up!

Reply
BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumStar Children (Evolutionary Step of Mankind).

"David was interesting but an asshole"

Whats done is done, you can redeem yourself by improving on Characters, Dr Shaw could have been given a New ARC in a Prometheus 2... like imagine if she finds out the TRUTH is nothing like her Faith Teaches and Renders her Faith as False!  that could BREAK her Character and HOW would she act?

So with David they have to look at what went WRONG.. if we looked at Prometheus and The Crossing, then we could see there was a way they could have made his Character something we could sympathize with.  So with David its a case of making him a Character that Redeems himself, or has KIND intentions for his World, until Mankind come along and F it Up!

But a major Problem is many people just have wrote David off, they are Not Interested in him and may not be open to any Story Changes..

David also is a Scapegoat!

For those wanting to see Dr Shaw and get her Answers, or/and to see the Engineers..... well THEY CANT.. because David had KILLED THEM ALL.

For those looking forwards to the Xenomorph and its Origins... they was SHOCKED that a Android had Created it, which TOTALLY is unexpected for most Fans... again Davids FAULT!

I think the BIGGEST Problem... is that ALIEN is about ALIENS... and the Xenomorph is what most connect with the Franchise, the Prequels showed us WHO the Space Jockey are.....  But they was ALL 2nd Fiddle to DAVID... the movie was more about David...

Any sequel about David and NOT about Xenomorphs or Engineers will just NOT interest most people...  at the moment all this is just a Distraction from what Fans would expect/want a ALIEN Prequel series to be about.

I feel we are better of arriving at ORIGAE-6 in some After-math or that David is killed off in the First Act.

Not ideally what i would want... but most fans would want the NEXT movie to hurry up and get us connecting to ALIEN and so they would want to by-pass until the Part other Humans Arrive and the £"%£ hits the FAN and then the Engineers Turn up...

What i am saying is IF  we assume the Sequels until we get to ALIEN would have been TWO movies...  Both say 2-2.5 hours.  If the Plot is as i speculated, then i just feel that the 4-5 hours we have until we reach the Back Door to ALIEN... i feel the First HOUR would be something that Fans would not be interested in and feel is a Distraction..

So it would be best to like Discount the First 60-90 Min of the said Plot...   just as if we assume the Events from the End of Prometheus until the Covenant Ship detects Dr Shaws Signal...   could have made another 2 hour Movie!

But we just Bypassed that 2 hour CROSSING movie if you would... i feel maybe we need to do the same with Davids Kind of World...

"You mention that we are in the prequel-series and that they need to finish that. I understand what you mean but the way that it is set up and how it has developed has mad every very disappointed "

I think in TERMS of the Prequels.. what they HAVE TO DO.. is they need to Figure out.... HOW/WHEN/WHY the Derelict gets on LV-426 and HOW/WHEN the Eggs got on the Ship.

Once they KNOW how they wish to tackle this subject and have the ANSWERS... they DONT have to Finish the Prequels.

All they have to do is make another ALIEN Movie, that will have Answers and enough Clues to suggest the Origins of the Eggs on the Derelict and When they got on the Ship and HOW LONG ago...

Then what ever route they go...

*Without David's Experiments on Planet 4 there would be NO Xenomorph

*The Xenomorph was a Ancient Event relating to the Engineers Experiments Thousands of Years ago.

If there is enough clues in a NEW Alien Movie series to answer which of those two, then they dont even have to carry on with David's Journey!

This could be covered in a NOVEL!

Whatever ANSWER they have in mind, i think they need to insure any NEW Alien Set of Movies will introduce the Engineers at some point. I would hate for everything the Prequels Set-Up to be abandoned and never explored again.

In Favor of Queen Eggs, Face Hugers, Chest Busters, Xenomorphs....  Hero/Heroin Kicks Ass and REPEAT!

BigDaveAlien: Romulus 2 NewsAlien Awakening: Ridley Scott reportedly still making Alien: Covenant sequel at Disney!

"They cant afford to get it WRONG Twice.”

They already have,"

In a way i agree with that as far as Critically..... but Box Office wise Prometheus did well enough, if Alien Covenant had made the same % Profit then you can bet we would have Alien Covenant 2 out this year... regardless of how how Criticism for the movie went.  You look how Criticized Star Wars the Last Jedi was...  i have not came across anyone who really praises the movie but Financially it was a MASSIVE HIT!

I do wonder if Prometheus had the same Success, in that expectation and excitement was there as Fans thought they are seeing a Return to the ALIEN Franchise and some Answers about the Xenomorph and Space Jockey, so they would have Flocked to the Box Office to see it...

Some Fans would have been disappointed... because of the lack of what they expected (in addition to how disappointing the Characters were).   Maybe they Boycotted Alien Covenant in protest... because its a puzzle to HOW the Sequel which was Marketed Heavy on bring back the Xenomorph etc... would do so Disappointing at the Box Office especially the First Few Weeks!

Likewise maybe in context we have to look at Han Solo which also did Very Bad at the Box Office... after the last Star Wars Movie had PISSED off the Fans...    I was shocked at the Box Office for that Movie... i never saw it until it was on my Cable Provider Movie Package... and i NEVER thought it was all that Bad... i have seen it 3 times... and i cant watch the LAST JEDI again.... twice was enough for me!

Unfortunately Nostalgia makes $$$$  and i hear loads of people who NEVER wanted to go and see SW EP9 after the Farce that was the LAST JEDI.... but Disney and JJ Abrahams have been teasing a bit about the NEW movie which looks to be throwing a lot of Nostalgia back into it, i FEAR the Emphasis will be taken off REY and KYLO REN and onto SOLO, LEIA, but more so LUKE, VADER, ANAKIN, PALPATINE with maybe even YODA and OBI WAN!

It should be called Star Wars: Reunion

I feel that Disney are in a pickle with the ALIEN Franchise as i discussed above, in that they have to think WOULD Fans be interested in the Prequels?

So i would not be surprised they would do a Nostalgia Blomkamps Alien 5: Bring the Gang back type of Movie.. because they may feel this would make money.. the TRUMP card...  if they went this route and the Box Office was Poor and Critically the Movie had Bad Characters/Plot etc..

Then we have to FEAR the Franchise could be Dead!

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumAre the Eggs on LV-426 Still There?

Regarding what W-Y knew about the Signal...

This is always interesting to debate.... with Prometheus it was the DVD Extras that suggested they detected the Signal, and David was informed to keep a eye on it.  I think we had to look at this as the same way as we had to ask WHY do they go after Ripley in Alien 3... IF there was potential to get Eggs from the Derelict.

The most Logical Answer to that would be that (as others had mentioned on here) knowing Ripley had a Queen inside her, would be a Easier Path to take with less RISK. The objective was to gain a Specimen and getting a Queen thats inside of a Human on a Prison Planet is the easier route.

So with Weyland and his Agenda.. the Star Maps pointed to LV-223, so when they arrived it would be likely that they would CHECK the place out First, then go to check out LV-426.  No Soon as they discover those Humanoids (Engineers) and so Dr Shaws Work/Maps were RIGHT, and Knowing that ONE is still Alive..  then this is when Weyland was woken up and wanted to get down to meet his Maker ASP because his Agenda was solely for More Life.

Regarding the Marines... indeed  we could ponder if they send in a LESS than Best Squad for reasons that Gavin had outlined...

We could look at maybe Miss Vickers having a Agenda for selecting the NOT best for the Prometheus Mission apart from those who are Necessary for Her Safety (Pilots, Mechanics and Security).

Regarding Bishop... maybe he had a hidden Agenda/Order, which was to get some Specimens on the Ship and Insure some of the Crew Return Safely, so they could be used as Hosts.

If we look at each Movie as far as WHAT the company should have done etc, and NOT make mistakes..  then ALIENS was a Colossal Feck-Up....   we could look at ALIEN in a similar way depending what the Prequels Uncover (if they knew so little at the time of Special Order 937 then the Nostromo Mission was Genius).

As otherwise you would ASK.... why dont they just send in ANDROIDS?  But doing so would not give us the Movies we can Enjoy.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumWhat we don't want in future franchise works

I think thats a interesting Question and i will refrain from making comments about other peoples not wants... so as to not come across as disagreeing as everyone has their own opinion on what they would NOT like to see.

For me there are a number of things that i will try and keep simple.

1) I dont want them to Abandon/Ignore the Avenues that the Prequels had opened up the Alien Universe was expanded in many ways and potentials by the Prequels (Especially Prometheus) and i felt the route of Alien Covenant kind of placed the LID on that BOX of Potential.  So i dont want to see them discard everything the prequels opened up.

2) I dont want to see them have to keep going to the same Formula and Tropes, i know these form the STAPLE of the Franchise (prior to Prequels) and sticking to them is playing it SAFE.  I just dont want them to Continue with the same Formula Over and Over... they can use bits of them, but they need something Fresh, because i just feel they could only Squeeze another 2-3 Movies using the Same Formula before they have to to do something NEW.

3) I dont want to see them having to use the Franchise as a Ripley Saga, i think IF done well we could maybe get 1-2 more Ripley Movies but i dont want to see the Franchise having to be about Ellen Ripley, or Amanda (although maybe Amanda could be given 1-2 Movies?)  i just think the Franchise is more than just a RIPLEY SAGA.

4) Finally.... i dont want to see them do any Alternative Movies as far as Alternative Sequels or Prequels that Re-Write events of other Movies.. so NO REBOOTS or RETCONS.

Aside from those i am pretty open to anything.

Personally, I will consider them canon so far because I can. To me, they take the series in a direction I prefer over the last two movies.

I remember when RS mentioned low budgets ultimately yielded the best results. That is what I see happening with the shorts. I cannot say the same for the last two full length movies. Maybe RS should revisit that mentality.

I don't want creatures from other franchises.

I don't want to see humans or aliens slaughtered all over, just make them disappear, like in the original film.

I don't want to see stupid dialogues or pornographic jokes between annoying characters. Only curses and swears accepted.

I don't want to see humans experiments on aliens, no mutants or hybrids, they are generally poorly done. No alien dogs. Keep the original in shape. David's lab was not bad, though.
