Hopefully Rain and Andy survive to the next film and still be the protagonists.
I highly doubt that David would spend 40+ years on the Covenant doing nothing until coincidently bumping into the Corbelan to kick off a movie plot. Shouldn't he already been doing his little science project on Origae-6?
Either continue with the voyage towards Yvaga or introduce yet another story.
Should the story continue where Romulus ended maybe have the Corbelan running out of fuel, having an emergency error that interrupts the statis sleep or being intercepted by either of the following:
- A W-Y ship (that received a distress call from Rook) taking Rain and Andy into custody. An outbreak of facehuggers or xenomorphs shuts down all security systems, allowing the protagonist to escape.
- Nasty yet organized space pirates on a prison ship either taking (or already stolen) a Z-01 compound (black pathogen) or having those plastic bags with xenomorphs on. Alternatively they dock with a seemingly abandoned ship or land on a planet where they encounter the xenomorphs.
- Why not have David arrive in the Covenant ship for some dual film closure.
(Big No-no's:
Copy-pasting from previous entries.)
Possibilities are endless. Hopefully Romulus does well enough at the box office for Disney to greenlight another film. But I'd rather wait a couple of years rather than have Disney oversaturating the franchise like they did with Star Wars. Let the hype build again.
I hope they don't introduce an evil Andy synthetic (let's call him "Dany").
Imagine this:
Rain: "Is that you, Andy?"
Dany: "Yes." turns away from Rain, gives an evil look to the camera
Plugging in Rook probably allowed him to update Weyland-Yutani's on the goings on... So, I think they are coming for Rain and Andy.

NECA figures when?
Did they say anything about how long the station had been "under attack"?
If the sequel does get in the works, let's pray they don't go with the Alien 3 route of killing off characters at the start. Or Covenant where David goes nuts and kills Shaw.
I really like Andy.
@Chris can you delete my topic?
And have you heard from BigDave?
Lol! I just started a topic like this!
If they get enough new things and do the characters right, then maybe. My concern is if they use the Xenos so much so it becomes a joke. Keep the monsters in the dark, it's more effective that way if you want to create horror. Got to see Romulus to see how they do the monsters, and so on.
Yeah, Now that it's been done, I wouldn't use the birthing aspect. Instead, I'd explore the super soldier route or something similar. Which might involve bringing back Colonial Marines for the sequel (and that could spark cries of the ultimate fan service!).
That sounds cool, although I thought this was specifically an ALIEN movie night
Ummm to make more Offspring you would need the accelerant to fall into enemy hands and inject it into more pregnant women. I don't feel comfortable in putting anymore pregnant women into harms way. I was horrified when they did it to poor Kay in this movie.
No I would rather they inject the pathogen into either a man or a non-pregnant woman. I want to see some hybrids but more on the lines of the deleted scene Fifield.
Also original ALIEN was the name of the xenomorph, just like PREADTOR was the original name for the Yaut'ja. So a complete replacement of the xenomorph seems like replacing Godzilla with Zilla.
Great episode! I agree with a lot of what was said.
I never thought people in their 20s (actors or fans) would be the ones to revitalize this franchise. The original fans are aging, and we need new blood!
It's refreshing to see "Romulus" YouTube reviews by younger creators.
I'd definitely be up for another movie with Andy and Rain. However, I'm not sure how they'd encounter another Xenomorph. Perhaps they could create more Offspring using the accelerant. "Prometheus" managed to avoid a Xenomorph encounter, but I doubt they could pull that off again. Unless, of course, the newer fans wouldn't mind a movie focused on the Offspring. (After all, the franchise is called "Alien," not "Xenomorph," LOL) It could feature Colonial Marines battling a horde of Offspring.
I was pleasantly surprised that these weren't these xenomorphs are not the original xenomorphs from LV-426
SPOILER
These are man's first attempt at cloning a xenomorph
Crap forgot to include one more thing and correct something. Yes the Pathogen/Black Goo/Black Liquid/Chemical A0-3959X.91–15 in Alien Romulus is the same pathogen from Prometheus and Covenant. But what we see that mutates the mouse and Kay's baby was the refined version, Z-01. Which came from a secondary source of the original pathogen, a xenomorph rather than its primary source, the urns.
Supplementary material suggests the black goo does different things based on its environment.
Holloway ingested the black goo/accelerant, so he was destined to become Black Goo primordial soup.
Fifield inhaled it, becoming an enraged mutant or xenomorph hybrid (deleted scene version)
The Planet 4 Engineers were bombed with the accelerant, perhaps since the canisters dissolved/exploded in midair may have caused a different reaction in the pathogen.
Also the accelerant/black goo/black liquid/pathogen was a refined version in Alien Romulus don't pretend it was the exact same formula as it was in the Prequels.
The Accelerant from the prequels came directly from the canisters that the engineers made. The Accelerant in Alien Romulus was extracted from Big Chap/Kane's Son and then further refined into Z-01.
Now which side of Renaissance Station fell? Romulus or Remus?
Now which side of Renaissance Station fell first? Romulus or Remus?
I'm just happy we finally got an ALIEN movie that is closer to the iconic ALIENS/Cameron era.
I really liked the Offspring, It was like a much smarter and healthier version of the Newborn. The Newborn looked like it was going to kill over at any second.
If I'm not mistaken, the chip was an additional piece placed in the neck device, kind of like a USB device with new data to a computer.
I forgot about the birds! Reminded me if those Order Soldiers in Christophe Gans Silent Hill film from 2006. Dressed in coal miner suits and holding a cage with a lil birdie (miner to the left in the picture below)

Yeah I wanted Andy to go semi-Terminator on those kids and give em a good ass whooping for what they did. David Johnson stole the show, incredible acting switching from too kind to ice cold and intimidating in such convincing way.
Now that the movie has been out a few days I want to mention the thing that bugged me the most about the movie. How is Rook functioning? Rain gave Andy Rook's chip, shouldn't he not be able to function at all, or at least not follow his company programming? I dunno, it just bothers me, lol.
One little detail I absolutely loved was the miners bringing birds into the mines, this used to be done back in the day to detect poison gas pockets, if the bird died you were in trouble.
And then there's Andy, he was just adorable and I felt so, so bad for him when he got attacked in the beginning of the movie on the planet and wanted to just give him a big hug. David Jonsson did an incredible job and honestly stole every scene he was in.
Gonna add a couple of shots of Sil from the movie Species, emerging from her cocoon. As I mentioned in my other comment, even the seemingly original concept of a "Vagina" wall-cocoon to gestate, then birth the Xeno, was obviously taken from another movie in the Alien universe (one that Giger worked on anyways). I put a clip of the full scene in my earlier comment for those that want to watch it.

Great find Neomorph! I front-paged this thread for you, thanks for sharing!
That is correct.
It was certainly a disturbing looking creature, like out of a nightmare. I liked that it tied to the engineers.
The chemistry between Rain and Andy worked really well! I was strangely enough more worried about Andy than any other character in the film lol.
It was creepy looking no doubt and unexpected but I wished it was a xenomorph that snuck onboard because we didn't see them enough in the film imo. If the film was 30-45 mins longer with plenty of xeno horror I'd appreciate the offspring inclusion more.
That's our sun is my favorite, I think. One of the best scenes as well imo although I wished they would travel a vit longer before finding the station.
Yeah that cover looks really nice! Black and red seems to be a main color theme for Romulus covers.
Fantastic! I'm really tempted to get the vinyl, but I already have so much stuff lying around collecting dust. I love the soundtrack! It captures the essence of all the movies while still being original. Great work!
and there is a vinyl release of this OST. Look really nice

I love the first track (the opening), giving me 2001 Odyssey vibe.
The soundtrack is nice. But I feel there is a lack of signature track like Prometheus "Life" (which is very iconic and I like that track a lot).
The Offspring is definitely a nice surprise. I knew there was a third act but didn't realize it was another new creature (I thought it was Andy having some secrets behind or Ash comeback at the end lol).
I am not particularly fond of how it was killed but I have to say it was done beautifully (especially how Rain pulling back from Space which gives me 100% ALIEN ISOLATION vibe). I do wish the ending would show Ripley's Narcissus continuing her journey, linking how it leads to the beginning of ALIENS.
The addition of the Offspring was definitely a good move. Cosmic horror, whether executed poorly or well, remains cosmic horror, and I believe it was done well in this film.
Regarding the final act:
The crew escaping a crashing/self-destructing spaceship is a common action/suspense movie trope. It's reminiscent of Ripley narrowly escaping the Nostromo without having to deal with a stowaway.
In Aliens, they also escaped the exploding base while facing the Queen (with many fan theories about how she got onboard). If Alien fans truly cared about continuity, they would have questioned how the Newborn ended up on the Betty. In contrast, there's no question how the Offspring got onboard in this movie, so that's a point in favor of "Romulus," I suppose.
Yeah, it's nearly 2025 and nothing published ( novel, comic book ) about David/Daniels/T or Origae 6 so it follows, nothing but fan fiction for Romulus.
But Rain and Andy are likable characters ( compared to David and even Daniels/T ), so I'll give it much better odds.
There wasn't much left of Kay, I guess she was sucked out the airlock along with happy emojineer (some say he's still smiling while floating around in space)
Yeah what happened to that goo cylinder? Hopefully Romulus does well enough at the box office only for Fox/Disney to greenlight a potential sequel or a new Alien film at least, preferably a sequel without fan-service every other scene.
There's also a few loose ends like David's intentions when heading to Origae 6 at the end of Covenant, if any director cares to bother with his character arc.
Until then, Alien After Earth series next!
@neomorph So true, But that's not any fun!
I wonder If they put Kay in Cryo? Or jettisoned her body. Ground burial on the next planet would be cool scene...with spores escaping her corpse.
Andy/Rain still have the accelerant? I'd absolutely read a book about their adventures.
With or without the accelerant. Rain is probably pissed at Weyland Yutani and wants some sort of revenge for the death of her friends. Expose them or something. Thorn in their side.
She must be silenced!
