Golden Eye 4 Players on a 14" CRT
Those were the Days ;)
Ahh Oblivion. Good Sci-fi!! Agreed Ati she would make for good Alien casting.
Casino Royale is my personal favourite bond film. Just had it all that film. Full Package.
N64 Goldeneye! What a bloody classic.... I'd hate to think how many hours i racked up on that game hahaha
But Pierce Brosnan was a terrible Bond.
I hope Idris Elba is the next Bond, but it seems more and more less likely :(
There was a trend a few years back with directors making 70's inspired movies, with a really cool grungy, gritty style which I think would be a really good match for a classic type of Alien movie. You have Adam Wingrad ("You Are next", "The Guest"), Ti West ("House of the Devil", The Inkeepers"), S. Craig Zahler ("Bone Tomahawk", "Brawl in Cell Block 99"). I also support the idea of producing or co-producing an Alien movie with Blumhouse studios, using practical effects only and young and creative visual designers. I think Alien (the franchise) needs to get down from its ivory tower and get back to business. If Ridley cannot see this, he needs to go.
I agree with Critters5 in wanting closure on the prequels first.
I am curious as to what Blomkamp could do with an Alien film. Especially if he had a good writer, someone like Alex Garland, or even go back to Jon Spaihts to pair him with.
I like his visual style and ideas, but he needs a better writer agreed. His films tend to have a big bold premise but tiny in scope and a predictable plot formula recycled across his films.
I strongly dislike his quasi-retconning of A3 and AR idea though. Write something original and fresh.
Thats pretty cool, and well done. Works as a nice little prequel to the game. Looks like the breakdown on the sevastopol before Amanda arrives?
Thanks for the share ATI
Excellent topic Ati.
I'm going to watch Soldier again. Thank you for that above regarding the corresponding themes and the insistence from the writer on the inclusion of the films in the same universe. That does have merit.

Tatooine was shown in Marvel Agents of Shield. I do think a lot of the examples above is a fun way to acknowledge other directors.

Nice reference and pretty classy.
Oh yes...YES!!! Finally somebody gets it! Isolation CAN be a movie. They did a good job capturing the overall vibe of playing the game in a short amount of time.
Thanks Ati!
sir Sean is the only real bond. witty yet could actually kick ur teeth down the back of ur throat
@ Ati
Batchpool - I do not claim anything about these links in the article, I just find these references interesting. That's all
I know. But while an observation is not a claim, it can and does highlight stuff that can go unnoticed, that in some cases may play a more significant role and is a hidden clue or nod to something else. There are some hidden gems out there.
What I find interesting is that many movies tend to have all sorts of hidden features in the background, and can sometimes have subtle links to other movies. Where I find it gets more interesting is to discover which ones provide deliberate links and which ones don’t. In the case of the purge scene in BR which was also part of the umbilical in Alien which was done by RS because he just happened to think it worked well for visual effect. There are those shots of course that RS used in BR from Stanley Kubrick for The Shining (Jack Nicholson). It is certainly the case that what happened to end up on the cutting room floor for some movies has provided useful footage for others. Obviously the Shining is in no way related to the Alien universe, but there are connections in the background that are independent of storylines that act as inspiration for me to play around with movie connections from time to time, which is what inspired this image.

And no, I am not claiming any universe connection between The Shining and Alien universe or BR on the basis that the bar tender in The Shining is Tyrell ( Joe Turkell). lol.
I definitely thought of that dk but wanted to play off the chess piece's names of Bishop and the Queen.
I saw the Sex Pistols with Rotten singing in the 90's.
Ha! :D
My fav Bond movies:
1962 - Dr. No
1965 - Thunderball
1973 - Live and Let Die
1974 - The Man with the Golden Gun
1981 - For Your Eyes Only
1989 - Licence to Kill
------------
The best Bond movie is For Your Eyes Only (1981) - in my opinion.
Ati, dk...yes it has taken a little time but Alien news is very slow and they keep making Lego movies opposed to NECA Alien movies.
Is Bishop Save the Queen a nod of sorts to the UK or Sex Pistols song God Save the Queen?
No, not finished scenes dk.
I notice things I need to change each time I watch both trailers but before that I wanted a little animation on each of the stills in the final product to have reasonable looking transitions for movement of the NECA portions and make it look better overall.
I was more of the Austin Powers variety :)
'That is some crazy mad time you must put into this.'
Exactly!
I love nearly all of them. My favs are from the sixties and the seventies.
doesn't mean they exist in the same universe.
Ok...
Scott revealed that he had used two shots in BR taken from Alien. They did not want to spend money on new ones...
they certainly seem to have money to burn
I stand corrected. he used his own scene from alien.
What did he use?
They just aren't my thing- the N64 Goldeneye was the bomb back in the day!
so? Ridley used something from a James Cameron film....
Disney will buy them.
Ingeniero Nice! I was wondering if the entire cast would be shown at the end. I am wondering: are the trailers thus far from actual finished scenes? That is some crazy mad time you must put into this.
OK, but you wrote this:
'directors do this from time to time to acknowledge other directors'
Both Alien (1979) and Blade Runner (1982) were directed by Ridley Scott.
im talking about BR and alien
Ha. dk, I use the dog alien the most but I will also use the xenomorph from LV-426 and the Queen.
I didn't use the neomorph nor protomorph from Planet 4/Paradise because I'm not sure where the Covenant ends up and Michael Bishop is limited to seeing segments of David's helmet feed until it cut out on LV-223 in late 2093. I'm building an extended segment in the orrery with David learning of the Engineer's ways and thats why I included the Sacrificial Engineer piece and limited views of Planet 4/Paradise.
I also wanted to build ending credits similar to Dune that shows each NECA character.
ali81 - And sometimes the writer (David Webb Peoples, writer of Blade Runner and Soldier) and the director (Paul WS Anderson) claim the same. Namely, the two movies are in the same universe.
But they are not important people...
Batchpool - I do not claim anything about these links in the article, I just find these references interesting. That's all.
I'm trying to find Event Horizon's spaceship and the spinner from Blade Runner in the movie. And the Liberty Bell in the waste disposal ship... Stills are coming.
My budget is limited and I could not afford real actors.
I can't believe I forgot to write above that NECA Frost, Hudson, Hicks, Vasquez, and Burke are also in Alien: Bishop Save the Queen. And the weapons package.
That is quite the cast and list. There may be some hints in there. The only thing on that list I have, and is my favorite, is the NECA Alien 3 Scale Series 8 Dog Alien Brown.
