Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Covenant ForumFox Had Plans to Shoot Ridley Scott’s Alien: Awakening Next Summer

Had or has? There is a difference between these two things. Did they change the plans?

Before they shoot the movie they got to get the locations, sign people to play the roles, and so on. Anyone that knows how far in the process that they have come?

I would rather have a good movie than one that is rushed.

“I think the Reaction to AC which was of disappointment could certainly have caused some rethinking to had taken place.”

This is a must, I don't want to be disappointed again.

Disney, well I hope that they will have the movies closer to Alien but I don't want them to be another Xeno hunt. People that we can like and root for is way more important. I am not sure if I want a lot of spin-offs though (imagine 100 movies like Rogue One but in the Alien universe).

Have some foul language and gore. LOL! Foul language is a part of any language so it is meaningless to leave it out especially when you look back at how the Alien movies have been this far when it comes to that. I would not like the characters to speak like English butler's.

In upper-class English accent:

“Excuse me sir Xeno I am very sorry but I have orders to make you into soup if you don't mind”

(loud bangs)

“Oh my goodness, I think that something rather nasty came on my suit”

(Imagine something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ8o9GV6t6k)
*Ahem*s

It would be crap if Alien would turn into kid movies.

Maybe some better Xeno connection would be nice but I don't want them to erase the Engineers. Hopefully Disney realizes that it is better to have David re-creating the Xenos rather than having him being the original creator of them. Hopefully they will tell Scott this so he has to follow that because I don't like that Scott wants David to be the creator of them.

They don't need more Xenos and defiantly not more queens (I prefer egg-morphing). Please no more Ripley, she is done.

Michelle JohnstonAlien: Covenant ForumFate of the Engineers

There are two ways in which the Engineers absence can be explained :-

1) You give their role as Space Seeders a sense of happening over the millennia where the time frame is immeasurably great so their absence for ten of thousands of years is part of their story. Indeed the extra ordinary out pouring that occurred when Davids juggernaut arrives suggests great expanses of time, the return of a vessel was huge event the entire population emptying out to greet them.

2) The events of Awakening lead to a decision where the Engineers determine to withdraw their paternal interest in mankind's development knowing their curiosity will always get the better of them. They Engineer the destruction of David and the Juggernaut on LV426 intending it to be the end of the Pathogens story and the re-routing of the Nostromo represents mankind's failure to curb that curiosity. The subsequent story is essentially a morality tale, what is revealed is that the science division is run by artificial intelligence and is the child of David's unbridled amoral curiosity. Provided you explain all the players place within a coherent historical context it can make sense of the subsequent story. The reasoning behind the actions becomes clear and gives the subsequent story weight.

Since they were not thought of like that when they began Alien I guess that there is a lot that you can do with them. Hopefully we will see more Engineers in the next movie. One guess is that they went into hiding since David bombed one of their planets (AC) and what will happen in the next movie is the last that we will see of them but that is not to say that there is no one of them left in the original movies.

More Engineers (society, culture, and so on) less AI please. Hopefully they will leave it a bit vague about the Space Jockey but give us some more clues. I would like to know a bit more about the connection of the SJ and the Engineers.

As far as bald wannabe Gods you are correct Big Dave but I hope that they can flesh them out and make them more interesting. There has got to be a way that this can be done. The Engineers as seeders of life in the galaxy is an interesting idea but I am not sure how they will make that to work.

Hopefully they have thought more about this when we will get the next movie.

Thoughts_DreamsAlien: Covenant ForumFor fans of Alien: Covenant star Tess Haubrich (Rosenthal)!

Her character could have been interesting, the problem is that Scott only cared about the robots in AC it seems to me. When you have a famous director like that which probably influences the script you get under-utilized human characters. It was a result of an under-whelming script and a director interested in the wrong thing for a alien movie. Maybe I should give Wolf Creek a chance.

Bigdave, my question is really what do you think will be the event which causes the Engineers to be absent for all the Alien films that come after Alien? How do you think RS will write in the reason for their blatant absence from the rest of the series? What was the reason? Did they get destroyed by David?

BigDave - 'The Last Jedi and without giving much away, i feel its a bigger disappointment than nearly Phantom Menace,' - 'despite The Jedi being quite a JOKE IMO lol'

This is a sad fact but your words are true. The Last Jedi is the biggest disappointment of the franchise. Not only a joke, but it is like a Star Wars parody - not only the situations, but the acting as well. The Last Jedi has become the Christmas Special of the year 2017.

There are scenes where you don't believe your eyes - in a negative sense. Mark Hamill does not deserve this, Lucas does not deserve this, fans do not deserve this...

And you are right, the prequels are way much better movies - because they are Star Wars movies.

Thanks God we have Rogue One, and I think/hope the Solo movie will be the best Star Wars movie.

Thats a important Fact for sure...

We can only hope if Disney has no plans for the Franchise to OWN up and say so and license it to someone else to do so.

I think TOY Range is something the Franchise could influence, i think there has always been a Alien Merchandise Fanbase, the Comics Series too...  So maybe how FOX License out for Toy Companies and Comic Books like Dark Horse.

Maybe they can License out the Movie Rights?

I will agree that Disney look to make Money, and in doing so they look at lot at Merchandise as much as the Movie Impact.  I think they would be willing to consider it based off the Impact of Previous movies.

Which Sadly with how Alien Covenant did, and how Fans seem Split about the Franchise, and direction and things that upset some fans but maybe not others... its the case of is the risk too much for Disney?

The Predator Franchise could be different, a lot depends on how well The Predator does, if this does well then i think Disney would be willing to invest in a sequel to that or another Predator movie.

I think a Concern is that its Merchandise Potential (and Game/Comic Rights) and Box Office that matters the MOST and so i would not be surprised if Disneys next Foray into the Franchises will be  a AVP Reboot is does not matter if the Movie is not GOOD if it makes $$$$

I have tried to Watch Avatar Twice and i just dont like it, i prefer Chappy lol, i have Watched Guardians of the Galaxy and to me its well very The Green Lantern, this kind of movies dont seem to appeal to me much, i lose interest in the Spider Men, yet i can watch X-Men and Iron Man etc..  I think its the Goofy Comic Vibes that are added that i deem unnecessary.. i have not brought myself to Watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2 yet.

Disney look at what can make $$$$ i saw The Last Jedi and without giving much away, i feel its a bigger disappointment than nearly Phantom Menace,  Swap Darth Maul for Kylo Ren and while Maul may not be enough to make the Last Jedi better, Kylo as the Main Villain in Phantom Menace would make that really poor.

But Disney wont care about what a good Plot vs Wasted One that is Rogue One vs The Last Jedi, all that matters is $$$$$ and The Last Jedi would attract more under 12's to the Box Office and Merchandise, despite The Jedi being quite a JOKE IMO lol  Visually Superb, Audio like wise...   These Elements could have benefited Alien Covenant (better Visuals)  but then that movies failings are similar to the Last Jedi as far as wasted potential...

Oh well in Hindsight a Blomkamps Alien 5 with Ripley and Queens may have made more $$$

I am concerned Disney would feel any Alien movie would have to either feature Ripley or be a Predator Cross Over :(

What's the end game for Disney? What are they going to get from making Alien movies?

Academy awards: Nope.

Toys: Probably not.

Theme park rides: Possible....but the parks are bloated with Star Wars now and Avatar is just around the corner.

Risk Reward: 1 to 1 maybe 2 to 1....Not sure Disney would get out of bed to produce a 1 to 1 movie.

Oh i wish we had a alternative universe where the Prometheus and Force Awakens Sequels could be Re-done lol

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumA:C Origins - Should i be itching to read it ?

This is the BIG Concern...

I dont think Disney are going to make movies that will be open to be viewed by under 13 year olds, i mean if we look at ALIENS i am pretty sure, if we reduce the Language and Odd Sexual innuendos (majority is in the Arcturian Poontang Scene Hudson vs Vasquez Banter) Removed the Ripley Chest Buster Scene and maybe the other and cut the Foul Language then ALIENS would be a easy Cert 12 leave the Chest Busters in and i think it could push a Cert 13, i would say that ALIENS as of today  based on content would pass a Cert 15 if not it would only have to make minor cuts.

So i think if Disney Push for a Cert 15 Franchise i think content wise we wont miss the odd Nudity or Swearing but then even some old Cert 15 UK movies have a fair bit of Bad Language and Partial Nudity.  Take Alien Covenant i feel if this movie was out in the 80's it would have got a Cert 18

The Concern comes if they try and push a Age 13.... I think a LARGE Problem with Classifications is the differences between countries i think the main ones do revolve and adopt either the USA System or UK

The UK the ones that are relevant are.

12A Under 12's can watch if accompanied by a Adult who feels the movie is suitable

12 You have to be over 12 years old

15 You have to be over 15 years old

18 You have to be over 18 years old

The USA relative System is

PG-13 which is not advice for under 13's and so its kind of standing the line of a UK 12A and 12

R which restricts those under 17 to have to be accompanied by a Adult this stands the line between a UK 15 and 18 in terms of restricted content

NC-17 Which means no under 17's can view the movie, this is pretty much close to a UK 18

I feel the System causes Problems for Movie producers as they will always look at the USA System so when they wish to make a Movie with Gore, Bad Language and Nudity or what ever.. a R basically treads the line between a UK 15 and 18 but is open to those under 15 in the USA, so younger Teens could be Targeted by a Movie with a R rating but then when they try and class if for UK they then need to see if this is a lesser content movie so a 12 or 15, or is it a 15

The Problem is similar with the NC-17 but not as bad to deal with.

I think we need a more UNIVERSAL System when we are dealing with anything above PG and so a

13A/PG-13 would be more suited to replace the UK 12/12A

15 would be a better replacement for the R/NC-17

18 would in effect replace the NC-17

I think this system is better which is the UK one but replace the 12/12A by implementing a additional year to it and then movies that would be viewed by 12 years old that are not to bad could fit with PG or sorry guys you just have to wait to be a Teenager...  Not that it effects many 12-13 year olds as i doubt taking a 12 year old to watch a 13 movie would be pulled over on that difference lol (who could tell?)

THE POINT TO THIS?

Sadly Hollywood Revolves around the USA System and with Disney in charge now, i think they would be a bit reluctant to push a R Franchise and so its likely the ALIEN Franchise will become a PG-13 which means stuff that could be expected for over 13 year olds would have to GO...  which could mean if its Pushing the Boundaries of a PG-13 then the UK and a lot of the World would have to adopt a 15 instead...

So unfairly the USA get to see a movie 2 years younger than most of the World... oh well i guess it makes up for how they cant Drink and Gamble until 21 ;)

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumFox Had Plans to Shoot Ridley Scott’s Alien: Awakening Next Summer

I think if Disney wish to expand on its Library of Movies, then it could do with something different to the 12 and under Friendly Franchises it already has, i cant see them making 18 Cert movies, and i think the Predator and Alien Franchises offer them something different and aimed at a different Audience Demographic (if thats the right term to use).

I think however Disney would want to make any Alien and Predator move Franchises to be open to a wider Audience than a Cert 18 would allow. But by the same token they would want to allow for some Horror and Gore but i think its the ACTION of those Franchises and the Recognition of the MAIN Characters which are the Xenomorph ALIEN and Yautja PREDATOR and so i feel Disney will at some point release a movie from both Franchises, i feel Disney will Market these towards a Age of 15 plus and so i would expect them being able to push quite close to the Elements of ALIENS, PREDATOR 2 the AVP movies and ALIEN COVENANT provided a few things are CUT (Nudity) and REDUCED excessive Foul Language and Gore.

The Question now is how much of a Urgency and Respect do they have for FOX's work on the Alien Franchise especially as far as Ridley Scotts connection/involvement and plans to continue the laid down Prequels..  OR DO THEY... only care for what a Marketable Iconic Status the Xenomorph has.... and how can this be used to make $$$$$$

If its the later then they could make a sequel to Alien Covenant that links to Alien that occurs after the events of David and what he does next, were the only thing we see of David is his Body and Reactivated Head, and maybe a few Flash Backs where they can CGI Fassbender.  What i mean by this kind of route is IF they would be in NO Rush to attempt a continuation within the next 5 years or so....

If they do intend to continue with a AC sequel and David is to play a somewhat big role (20 Min plus Screen Time) then they would likely have to begin Filming within 2-3 years, definitely if they wish Ridley Scott to play a Key Roll.

ALTERNATIVELY

Disney could do one of these routes too... as far as Prequels.

1) Have a different Prequel (Slight Changes) to Alien where they keep the Mystery to the Space Jockey and reveal that David merely Re-created the Xenomorph the Engineers had created Thousands of years ago... THIS kind of route could even by-pass having David by having a Character in the Prequel Reference David and his Creations and so it could be a movie set on Origae-6 that features Davids Creations but David is Gone (and explain why) or David is only remains (so he can play a small Bodyless Roll) for Naration/Plot to reveal HE Created the Horrors we saw in AC and on Origae-6 but NOT the Original Xenomorph.

2) Again a different route this time however showing the Space Jockey Event at the Climax, but in the build up showing that its Cargo is different to Davids Creations and Reveal he had Re-Created it.. HEY even a Davids Xenomorph vs Engineer Xenomorph?  Again as with above Davids Role in the movie could be By-Passed or Reduced Greatly.

3) Attempt a Complete Prequel RE-BOOT that removes Prometheus and AC from Canon.

I think a key thing that Disney will do is take on board what Fans want and what they feel made the Franchise what it was... so this Certainly would mean more XENOMORPHS and Queens maybe even a Re-Design of the Space Jockey/Engineers and likely Eradicate the Robots/AI Influence  but i think a GREAT FEAR with Disney at the Helm is to Shoehorn in some Ripley Saga to a Prequel... by maybe introducing a Relative involved in a Prequel... even as far as casting Miss Weaver and Ripleys Grandmother... Yep this is something i feel Disney will PLUG IN

HOWEVER... the Problem is reducing Davids Role, Changing the Engineers/Space Jockey could upset some fans who was pleased with Prometheus and Alien Covenant to a degree... to completely Reboot the Prequels and not put any real Focus on the Androids and Re-design the Space Jockey Race to be something different could UPSET fans of the Prequels Big Time.

This is the Problem the Franchise has.. It is hard to please Every Fan No Matter What Choice they make.

UNLESS Disney take on board the Prequel Route i would propose and the Alien Resurection Sequel Route, which both should do enough to PLEASE the Masses.

In a NUTSHELL

I can see a Alien movie made in 10 years 100% even 5 years, but as far as in 1-3 years of going into Production i would say 50/50 is Optimistic

Yes BigDave, i think disney are clever enough to ride the line between giving the majority what they want and squeeze it into a 13. I think 15 may be too brave, merchandise considered. I think the power of disney entering a show for classification could easily have the power to get granted a 13 cutting it as close as is legally possible. They will know exactly how far the edge is.

its disney. i think they will try their best as they do everything with $$$$ in it.

Look after Shaw and Rachel I've stayed away from Star wars, as I did not want to see how yet another character from films I liked gets killed because they don't know what to do with them. This applies even to Logan, as it has to show explicit the death and burial of the main character instead of them disappearing into the Horizon as in Shane which it rips-off.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumQuestions on acid and trust in AI

A lot of these problems come from NOT sticking to the Plan/Source Material...

Prometheus Evolved from Jon Spaights Alien Engineers in this draft Fifield was more Xenomorph looking well a Hybrid and had ACID BLOOD...

In Prometheus the Hammerpedes had ACID Blood, the Trillobite is inconclusive, however the Full Scenes show us the Engineer had no Face Burn until after the Trillobite fight, if you watch the Full Scene or even Face Burn one, we can see for a few shots the Face is Burnt then not, then Burnt...

To me it looks like TWO Trilobite Scenes was shot, one where the Engineer at the end suffered a Acid Burn, then they decided to re-do the Engineer vs Shaw Scene and while in make up, no doubt got Ian Whyte to do another Trillobite Scene...  The Final Scene we see in both Theatrical and deleted Scene appears to be a mash up of both potentially shot Trillobite vs Engineer Scene.

So its looks more likely that the Trilobite was intended to have ACID BLOOD

The Reason Because what was contained in the Urns is Genetically related to the Xenomorph/Deacon in the Mural, this appeared to be the Original idea...

Alien Covenant has muddied the waters because they never took much notice on previous source material.

Does the Neomorph have ACID Blood?  Who knows i think this is one of those inconclusive things, so we cant say either way.

Now to Directly Address the OP

The reason why we never heard about them in the Alien Franchise was because they was not conceived in any other movie, no body thought to address the Space Jockey/Derelict and what Race is this, Ridley Scott was bound to have some ideas and he certainly wanted to explore this many years ago.  Even as far as the 80's he even had a idea pitched for a movie prior to FOX choosing to go the AVP route.

But the fact we touch upon the Engineers as the Space Jockey, and their Race has interacted with us in the past prior to ALIEN and in Locations quite close compared to the Speeds of Travel in ALIENS, is something that needs to be a addressed and i think its something that would have been addressed.

*Why the Engineers never came back after the Failed Outbreak 2000 years ago

*Why the Engineers never came back (within Alien Franchise) after the events that will follow Alien Covenant

*Why the Company pursue the Xenomorph only via LV-426 (then Ripley)

*Whats left of Engineer Technology on LV-223, Planet 4 and elsewhere

*Whats left of Engineer Bio-Weapons and Related Organisms.

These are all Questions Raised by the Prequels that need to be addressed, so as to avoid conflicts with the Franchise, and i think in order to answer these WE WILL see the Engineers again..

IF... Disney ever plan to continue the Prequels or consider Engineers Canon.

EDIT...

I will Critters5 just add that maybe the Engineers had been conceived for us as far back as 1978 and by none less than HR Giger, despite many thinking Gigers idea was a Elephantine Race... it was not it was a Humanoid in a Space Suit... not just any Humanoid but Bald Humanoids in Space Suits not dissimilar to those in Prometheus who Self Sacrificed themselves to Procreate the Xenomorph.

Whats also of interest is Gigers works pointed to the Xenomorph and Derelict being Aesthetically and Genetically connected and the Ships Cargo Hold/Egg Silo Produced the Eggs from tiny Worm-like Organisms.

Reply
BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumFate of the Engineers

Now as far as the Engineers in General.....

The idea for the Prequels was not just about the Beast, it was about the Space Jockey too..

Lets look at the Basics of the DERELICT

The Derelict was a Alien Space Ship, that appeared to be very connected to its Pilot (not only literally) but also by the Derelict is a Space Jockey Race Ship, this Ship had a Alien Egg Cargo the Cargo Organism shared a Aesthetic with the Derelict Ship.  Down the line RS had explained the Cargo to be Bio-Weapons and the Ship a Bomber or Bio-Weapon Cargo Plane.

As time went on RS further and further affirmed and pushed for the Xenomorph to be a Bio-Weapon belonging to the Space Jockey Race.

The Purpose for the Prequels was to reveal not only the Origin of the Cargo, but also its Purpose, WHY would it be created rather than by WHO so we have this Alien Bio-Weapon, that appears to be related Aesthetically to the Ship and the Pilot has to be connected, because he cant purely be just a random Race/Creature that Hijacks that Ship and Cargo....   And so in exploring the WHO as far as connected to the Xenomorphs, it was obvious it was related to the Space Jockey and the Ship a means to carry these Biological Warfare.

So we did not need to know in detail who the Space Jockey was, but the Space Jockey is something never to ever be covered in the Franchise, the Xenomorph had been done a lot, all we have no knowledge of is its Origin... so the Space Jockey Race No Doubt was something to be explored... but the big Questions for the Cargo was HOW and WHY This was to be shown as our Engineers and they opened up the Plot they had created us (or played a role) and then they wanted to Destroy us and hence the Bio-Weapon.

Fans was displeased a bit with this, they wanted something more Alien and Xenomorphs and not Bald Wanna Be Gods....   So Ridley Scott again affirmed the HOW and WHY with regards to the Xenomorph but now U-Turned it to David and Vaguely Why.

The Engineers and their purpose, history and who are above them was going to be something very much covered in Prometheus 2 before they gave in to Fans and gave us Alien Covenant...

The Set-up from Prometheus is these beings (Engineers) have seeded many worlds, and RS hinted that we may not be the only intelligent  life they have created, another MASSIVE CLUE is the Engineers Orrey Room AKA Space Jockey SAT NAV...

This showed a giant Bubble of our Galaxy but outside was many many Galaxies so the Engineers or the Race who this Technology belonged have the ability to Travel to other Galaxies, so Earth to Planet 4 is put a drop in the Ocean to the Universe these beings can travel too.

What are the odds then that only Earth, LV-426 and Planet 4 are the only worlds associated with them.

Ridley Scott said and he still stands by the ENGINEERS are Space Gardeners, and so their influence and places they have been must be far more vast than those 3 Worlds.

Reply
BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumFate of the Engineers

@ali81

You raise a good point about giving into Pressure, but who knows if the Engineers will return purely based on Fan Reaction, i doubt this is the case because of that.. the reason i feel is that RS had always wanted to feature the Engineers..   But indeed backlash from Prometheus meant he had to by-pass them somewhat for AC.  I am not so sure regarding the reason they are coming back is due to back-lash to AC, it could be but i doubt it.  As surely RS would understand that DAVID caused a bigger back lash, yet he is pursuing more so with David and AI

However in the Marketing for AC and the Interviews RS had appeared to push a firm interest on the Xenomorph and how they had to get back to the movie being about THEM but more so WHY and WHO created them.  A few months latter indeed RS did mention the Engineers would return, i cant be sure if this was a reaction to AC, i dont think it was.  But certainly the inclusion of the Xenomorph and the brushing under the carpet of the Engineers and Shaw in AC was due to back-lash over Prometheus but more so in how Prometheus never gave us Xenomorphs or would not have drawn us closer to the Space Jockey Event, but a sequel looked to move further from this.....   As well as how Fans was excited for the return of Xenomorphs in Blomkamps Alien 5

Concerning the ENGINEERS and their where abouts...

Prometheus set up for a greatly expanded universe, Alien Covenant maybe attempted to reduce the size of this... so in part i can agree with the THIS is the Planet of the Engineers...  as far as thinking at the time of Alien Covenant... maybe... because RS had said this was the Planet, he also called those beings on Planet 4 the Original Engineers too.

A Problem is RS and CO seem to change their minds over and over and over, and go against stuff that has been pre-laid out prior.. Alien Covenant seemed to take on board and care about previously laid foundations as Star Wars EP8 did with the prior Movie.

Ridley Scott however said the Engineers return to that Planet from Time to Time... and they will discover what happened and wont be too pleased...

Do we ASSUME Planet 4 all of the Humanoid Engineers are kept just in ONE City this makes little sense... but we have no proof of others on that World, and if there was maybe we can assume the Black Goo Spread and killed them....

What we see however is Planet 4 and the site of Davids Arrival has a Hanger, and it also had a Juggernaught Aesthetic Docking Mother Ship and so we have to ask, does a Race live in such a mainly Ancient Way/Technology but they have a Docking/Border Control Ship?  And those Engineers are not afraid of the incoming Juggernaught?  Do they all just live in One Place in the Galaxy and only Permit ONE Hanger with only a Handful of Ships?

The Concept work and deleted Scene revealed the Hanger had 3 more Ships but as they was not in the Theatrical we cant 100% take it as Canon... but what we can take notice of is the similarity between the Juggernaught and the Docking Ship, and considering at some point the plan was the Hanger held more Engineer Ships.... on a World that apart from that Hanger was void of such Advanced Technology as on LV-223.... yet LV-223 had a abundance.

I think the difference between the LV-223 Engineers and Planet 4 and WHY they was all gathered in ONE City that had only ONE Hanger is a Big Question that i think goes against this place being where all the Engineers are... It may be WHERE they Originated from... but its far from where they are..

UNLESS... Its another Races Technology they Stole and then used to Evolve themselves.

As for the Certification's and Future of Franchise...

Joke all we can.... i think with Disney there is far greater a chance of a AVP3/Reboot if Disney feel they can make Money from the Movie and Merchandise (this is the Big One $$$$)  then dont rule out a AVP... i just hope if they do so, its done in a way where it will be open to personal choice for another AVP to be Canon or not....  But if done right i think a AVP could make them Money..  if they follow the Plot/Time-line of the Games/Comics and not the Previous movie attempts.

On to the Certification issue...

Having watched the New Star Wars movie, i do fear that Disney will aim any future Alien movies do not purely aim for the 15 year old's plus... So i think we wont see any 18 Rated Alien movies again.

I think Disney will want to open the Movies to more potential Audience and so i think Alien Covenant will be about as Gory as we are going to get....  I also think the Bad Language will be Toned down quite a bit

And so i expect Future movies to be Cert 15 with some maybe coming in at 13

They know kids aged between 12-16 are going to find the Franchise good and i am sure many a 12-15 year old enjoy the old movies even though its a Taboo because they are not old enough.... i mean how many under 18 year olds and especially 12-17 years are not going to own/play the AVP Games, Alien Isolation etc.

But getting them into the Cinema is hard so i think Disney could market the future movies aimed at 13-15 year old Certification's to open up a bigger BOX Office and then Video Games aged 15 or 18 for more Horror and Gore, knowing that exposure of movies to a 13-15 audience will mean they will (get someone else) to get them the higher content rated games... but then also the Merchandise..

I think those worrying about these movies being made for kids, need to not worry as far as the very young, but i think Disney will Tone down any Nudity and Foul Language for certain and Gore to get the Franchise to a Cert 15 UK and then what ever the equivalent in other countries would be.

I will lastly add as years go by people become more used to Language and Violence and Gore, if we look at some movies that came out the last 5 years, they would get different  Certification if they came out in the 70's and 80's and likewise vice versa.

I mean how much more Adult Related is ALIENS or PREDATOR compared to the AVP movies or Predators?

I think most of the Alien Series if they had only came out recently would certainly fit within a Cert 15 so i guess the Franchise wont be going for the children who want soft toys etc... but to expect maybe similar to what Prometheus and Predators kind of offered

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumA:C Origins - Should i be itching to read it ?

"I would like to speculate that this race is not the Engineers or Xeno, it could be the new "exciting" player"

Who knows its a possibility, and i do think the book puts in a few hints to the fears mankind could have regarding poking around in Space, its a Genuine True Fear some here in Reality have such as the SETI Program and us bombarding Space with signals.  In case we attract Aliens and how can we tell how they would react.

I have not read the book yet, so thanks Ingeniero for some more information, i know roughly what the book is about, and indeed you really can see what the OUTCOME is from Alien Resurrection as far as what Paris looks like, its interesting you mention that Complex Machines are on the UP... this is something that i think will actually become FACT as time goes on and we Advance, then Technology will become even more important replacing many Chores and Tasks that would require Manual Labor.   I can almost for certain see a Future with Transport being mainly controlled by AI to avoid Human Error and the like.  And i expect AI and Machinery to engulf more of our Workload in the next 50 years than the last 50.

So when RS is looking at AI for the next movie, in part it could touch upon the need to so desperately leave a World that is now so reliant on Technology.  And the Big Theme RS appears to be looking at is pretty much similar to what the Matrix and Terminator etc have shown...   and that is ONCE AI evolves to think of itself as Sentient and should have free will/rights as a Human has... Once AI evolves to feel why should it be contained by how our intentions are for it... TO SERVE  and so as Stephen Hawkings Even Warned, Once this CAT is out of the BAG it could become VERY Dangerous

I think there is a lot we can read between the supple things in the last TWO movies and Virals and Marketing that Many Miss.... and OVERLOOK i think indeed the Fear of Finding other Life and what its intentions could be in the Book, i feel will be shown to be a great Foresight by those who wished to Sabotage the Covenant.

BigDaveAlien: Covenant ForumFox Had Plans to Shoot Ridley Scott’s Alien: Awakening Next Summer

Well Ridley Scott had made a agreement with the Australian Government about incentives for Alien Covenant and future Projects and no doubt any Alien Covenant Sequel would have been part of this, Ridley Scott also said that at the time of AC Release that he planned to shoot the next movie within 14 Months which puts it in the July 2018 Ball Park.

I would say its hard to tell how far they had got with the Movie, no doubt Prior to AC being Edited/Cut for release FOX/RS and Logan would have all had a idea where they are taking the next one, and i would not be surprised if a Long Synopsis/Plot Points had been done and onto basic stages of working on the Draft as far as May this year.

I would imagine as of MAY 2017, they would have had a idea what 70% of the movie would be about, they would have had a idea where i would say 70% at least of the movie would be shot and i would not be surprised if some Early Story Boarding/Concepts had begun.  As far as only the Brainstorming Stage.

I think the Reaction to AC which was of disappointment could certainly have caused some rethinking to had taken place.

But now that Disney owns the rights, its anyone's guess to WHEN we will get another installment, i think we will get more ALIEN movies, but who knows how soon or what route they would take, i think a lot could depend as far as how far down the LINE they are with the Sequel, at the time FOX began Take Over Talks.

If they movie was in late development stages and just now waiting for a bit of Final Polish to Plot/Drafts and then it was a case of choosing Shooting Time (we need to remember despite if a Draft was near Final, Production is dependent on Fassbender and Ridley Scotts Schedules) so by that if the movie was close to Full Production only really waiting for Director and Main Guaranteed Cast Member to become Free.

Then if this is how far the Progress has been and talks regarding this had taken Place with Disney Executives then provided those at Disney like what they hear and put trust in the Plans as they was going to proceed under FOX, then who knows a 2018 Shooting Date could still happen.

If the movie idea had not progressed far so they never even had a near finished draft as of say this Fall, then there is a Good Chance Disney could want to get much more influence in the Progress of this movie.

joylittAlien: Covenant ForumFor the Alien thirsty

Yeah I was surprised how good that movie was ("The Untamed"), and the special effects take you totally off guard. A great example of what practical effects can do for you as opposed to digital effects. The design of the alien creature was very gigeresque... the other movie is more of a guilty pleasure; I was surprised to see a lot of plot elements taken from Prometheus and Predator... the story needed more focus but it was pretty entertaining nonetheless.
