@alteredstate Veronica Cartwright portrayed Lambert very well as a nervous person who becomes more frightened as the film goes on. I couldn't imagine her playing the Ripley role as depite her being a great actress she is a tiny scrawny little thing.

Shoot me down if you like but i`m convinced were looking at a xeno here, it looks the same as one.what we see lying on the floor with missing head looks nothing like the image of sj on right of chair room in trailer image.Maybee the sj and xeno are actually the same entity .

It's not LV-426, it's not the same Derelict class ship for a start. The ship seen in Alien was only seen from a distance but it is different from the one in Prometheus in quite a few details. Scott would not allow those noticeable changes if it was the same ship.

Scott did say that something small turns out to be huge. I posted this type of idea on another forum the other day, that we may be looking at biological type weapons or something contained in the planet's atmosphere. Maybe that is what killed off the original civilisation? Maybe we are looking at the results of an interplanetary war between the SJs and another species?

Ok, bear with me here... The first point here is that the expedition did not expect to find any of the stuff that we relate with the SJs (the SJs themselves and the 'gigerish' architecture). What they did expect to see is a civilisation much like our own. This is apparent from what Scott has said, the saucer in the trailer (that somehow leaves a clue to their homeworld on Earth) and the different architecture seen in some of the media which is more akin to Ancient Earth cultures. The Ampule room is buried inside that rock structure, it is rougly egg shaped and has a door at either end which means is can be sealed off from the atmosphere outside (which we know is not compatible with humans and presumably SJs). The expedition enter the Ampule room from the door behind the Head Monolith and explore, whilst David investigates the Ampules Mudow and Shaw venture to the far door where they find the SJ's head. Whilst inspecting it the door opens upwards (in one of the first look teasers you can see Shaw startled by the blast of steam/gas as it opens) revelaing the body of the SJ outside the Ampule room but inside the outer (large stone) door. It looks as though the SJ was decapitated by the steel door suddenly sliding shut. As to why they did not bring back the whole body - Something happens to one or more of the expedition which means they have to leave in a hurry, we know that something happens to Holloway don't we? The SJ body is huge but Shaw puts the head in a bag when they exit the structure. I have a feeling that Shaw is the last one out of there and is probably the driver of the last buggy, she possibly drops the head on the loading ramp, goes back to collect it and then gets blown away by the storm/explosion.

I don't think the goo is anything special, just an incubation fluid, or to be more precise the Space Jockey equivalent of bubble wrap. I also think that the "thing" inside the ampules, coated in the goo are vials containing human genetic material.

@snorkelbottom Exactly my point. Instead of full size Xenos, we might see its humble beginnings as biological weapon in the form of fine spores which infect Holloway in the teaser then spread to everyone else. The classic Xenos may be revealed as carrying DNAs of humans all the while through some crazy selective breeding with humans & other alien lifeforms which we may see in PROMETHEUS.

@20thcenturybuick Yeah, i agree with you there, or at least it would be a good twist for the story. To find out that the jockeys didnt create the xenos, but found em and fell afoul of them while trying to use them as a weapon. Just the same as those silly humans :P. The film could then leave us with another cliff hanger even worse than the space jockey issue in the first alien.

Yes Prometheus is a prequel to Alien 1979 but it is not an "Alien" movie, as in the movie is not about the Alien (the creature), it is about the Space Jockey (also seen in Alien). Or to put it another way... Prometheus is a Space Jockey movie, and thus a Prequel to "Alien 1979".

This an alien prequel for one simple reason. The ship from the first film is in it. Hence same universe, means prequel wether there is Xenos in it or not

I think the pyramids they find will be on mars and they discover a star map there leading to the SJ's world. I believe the planet they're on speeding back towards the ship and leaving it in an earlier scene is infact Mars. I dont think LV-426 is in this movie maybe the next to lead to Alien.

yeah i saw it on Christmas day as well, i think the main reason why i really enjoyed AVPR so much was because i went in only looking for action an not story, same with the first one... well the first one the only real reason why i liked it so much was cause of Weyland lol. ya know, the first Bishop and such... i love that guy... and lance henriksen did a good job with him too... good times, good times

I think a lot of what's being said is to throw you off the scent a little to retain a complete surprise so there are nuggets of disinformation to deliberately create a buzz and its working superbly .

Plus this doesn't really explain the 8 minutes of "Alien DNA". Plus, there is way more then just that by even looking at the trailer.

I pray he ignores everything. Aliens is a fun action film but not his vision and was the beginning of the end of that creature being terrifying at all. I also love the 4 day lifespan he had intended. I just don't like what that universe became and what i spawned. Love the original but it feels so different then everything that came after it.

Remember ridley said this film will be looking backwards not forwards so from that i deduce its all about the origin of human existence and how we developed as a species with the aid of alien intelligence.

i think its safe to say you can forget any tie in with avp. I think the majority of the film is to focus on the sj and how mankind came about and how the space jockey came to be on board the derelict vessel. and the origins of those creatures .

well it isnt a new world there are space jockeys in it as well as the weyland yutani company

The thing I haven't heard anything on - and I guess we'll just have to wait for the movie - is: Does this maintain continuity with even the other Alien movies, not just "Alien"? Is Ridley Scott really trying to redefine the whole series and making it so that HIS "Alien" movies are the only "canon" of the series? Will they TOTALLY discount the "Aliens Versus Predator" movies? What about "Alien3" or "'Ressurrection"? It's the one aspect of this whole continuity thing that doesn't seem to be on anybody's 'tracker.
