sweet craigamore. I haven't had the chance to read the first 2 Alien novelizations but I was able to get myself a copy of the Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection novelizations a few years back. They were great. Let me know how the Alien novelization is.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 15, 2012
I'm enjoying it...it's funny though. Foster has moments where he really draws you in, then he puntuactes them with unnecessary literary flourishes that make it seem like he's trying too hard. And the novel omits the SpaceJockey from the interior of the derelict. I think he was working from an early version of the script.
The most interesting thing concerns that post a month back that had the reference to a broken vase of sorts...'Prometheus' connection...well, there's more...When Kane's investigating the eggs, he notes to himself how similar they look to the mechanical, inert vases that Dallas found.,,like they related somehow.
It's small information, but none the less interesting.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 15, 2012
there's alot that connects to prometheus in the original script from dan o'bannon and ronald shusette. like the dome behind the derelict where they find the eggs. and have you all seen giger's artwork for alien 3, man that guy is out there
ReplyGehirnPrometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 15, 2012
I've seen a few people cry out about Prometheus being an Avatar rip-off too. It's like they see a waterfall in the trailer and all of a sudden Cameron has a copyright on all of nature. LOL
Ironically, they're going to be the people that enjoy Prometheus the most because they have no bleepin' idea what's going on.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 15, 2012
god are they really comparing it to avatar. wow, now all sci fi is a rip off of each other. prometheus and alien have about as much in common with avatar as barney has with the jackson 5.

ok im callin it a night. i have to be up at 5 to bring my wife to work. you guys kick ass, craig, ripley clone, walterhiller, later. and remember i prefer the term artifical person myself
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumDead Space and Halo NonsenseJan 15, 2012
Haven't you heard Gehirn? 'Prometheus can't be a rip-off of 'Avatar'. 'Avatar' is already a rip-off of 'Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest'....and I'm being totally serious. Check out the plot on wikipedia. I remembered it from my childhoodright after I saw 'Avatar' in the theater. I was so disappointed in him.

team ? was an entire colonial marines ship full of men ...i dont think was a little expedition for a little colony that didnt send anymore messages ...and probably Burke was the only one who did belive Ripley about the derelict ( its clear in Aliens that he did all alone )
ReplyMotherAlienPrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 15, 2012
I have thought that too, especially since Prometheus and all the new speculation about what the company knew/didnt know. Since they lost contact with Nostromo why didnt they send another expedition to find out about the transmission, especially since we know the company send Prometheus 30yrs earlier. If they thought in any way that this transmission was tied to the earlier mission they wouldnt have just stopped checking it out.
what you all think about this??
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 15, 2012
i personally avoid the "great cospiracy" theories in Alien ....so my take is
1) the company had a secret internal order in case of alien encounters ( retrive them at all costs )
2) they did got from maybe another ship the possibility of an alien trasmission from lv 426 ... they did changed the Nostromo course and put ash in the crew .
3) they gave the ship as lost ...since it was an enormous loss they didnt try other expeditions and the memory of the incident was forgotten ( that is easily understandable : the people who sent the nostromo are also the responsable of the loss of the ship so was better for them to destroy all the evidences )
4) they find ripley back ... but noone belive ...the secret files lost from years ... burke belive ...looking for some profits ...
5) burke send people to investigate .... the colony is lost ...the Weyland ask the help of the military ( and that mean that the chiefs of the weyland didnt know about the derelict or the aliens ) ...the fact that they ask the help of the military destroy a great cospiracy theory .
of course that is my personal idea !
Replyoias.heedaPrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 15, 2012
Well. As to what happened to the ship. I think it got nuked when they blew up the facility at the end of Aliens. I also thought the whole idea of sending the marines and Burke, was to bring back a xenomorph, so that they could weaponise it.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 15, 2012
I agree with Member oias.heeda. Pesumably...the derelict was destroyed in the nuclear blast at the climax of 'Aliens'.
Also... It's hard to know if the company could know the exact location of the planetoid. I get the sense that they know the general viscinity, but not the exact location in space. That would explain sending the Nostromo, based on the pickup of the signal, and Hadley's Hope, the colony, not knowing about a derelict craft so close to it or the company not knowing it was there. Happy coincidence I guess.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 15, 2012
maybe thats how hadley's hope got infected in the first place. ok newt's father was just one man. if they sent in a team after on company orders, thats alot of people infected
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 15, 2012
nothing happened. the events of aliens never took place. it was the inept fantasy of an inferior director.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumWhatever happened to the original ship?Jan 15, 2012
ok dude. dont hack on aliens. i give as much props to jim cameron as i do to riley scott. they were 2 totaly different films and if your gonna hack on a film, hack on 3 and res. they never happened. at least jim didnt try to remake alien, and to conclude, the directors cut makes more sense, so give that version a try before calling it inferior
ReplywalterhillerPrometheus ForumBig Aliens/Skeletal MonstrositiesJan 15, 2012
big=overcompensation and cartoon-like. it's much more scary and personal when it's "life size" so to speak.
i am reminded of dinosaurs and giants and trolls. and the queen alien is a joke. completely unscary, much like the entire aliens film. a bastardization of the original concept.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumBig Aliens/Skeletal MonstrositiesJan 15, 2012
Totally agree with you on the Queen alien nonsense. My use of 'Big' was too simplistic. I just get the sense there's something new we haven't seen that's going to just amaze us.
And when I refered to the leaked trailer, :38 seconds in, there's a shot, the one I mentioned earlier. I want to know what the hell that thing is. check it out at http://www.disclose.tv/action/viewvideo/83539/PROMETHEUS_Leaked_Trailer_Enhanced_De_noised/
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumBig Aliens/Skeletal MonstrositiesJan 15, 2012
just please dont show whatever the beast is too much. for god sakes let our imagination terrify us.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumBig Aliens/Skeletal MonstrositiesJan 15, 2012
Totally agree....that's what made both 'Alien' and 'Jaws' work so well. It's always what we can't see that we have the hardest time understanding and thus, spend the most time fearing.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumBig Aliens/Skeletal MonstrositiesJan 15, 2012
i always had respect for lucas because of the wampa scene in empire, same thing you dont see it and it was one of the few horror moments in the trilogy. but what does he do, cg the damn monster and ruin the damn scene. goes to show you, lots of money, no damn brains
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumBig Aliens/Skeletal MonstrositiesJan 15, 2012
im hopeing prometheous will be a mixture of alien, and dont hate me for saying it, and john carpenter's the thing. put those two together and wow.
ReplycraigamorePrometheus ForumBig Aliens/Skeletal MonstrositiesJan 15, 2012
I see what you're saying...I think we may get a taste of that because itlooks to me like one of the explorers gets that genetic fluid that been rumored on his face and you can see shots in the trailer of a mutated crew member.

Thanks for the feedback guys :D!
Well to answer your questions, I didn't want to use the official trailer since it had the "Prometheus" title in nearly all of the scenes, so I ended up using clips from the "Prometheus Trailer Preview" (1-3). (You can find them on youtube, uploaded by PrometheusNews)
So, no, I don't have any extra footage :) I wish I had :P
Thanks again ;)

I have just finished turning the document of this into a screenplay.

I have a Phone number for Jean Pierre Junet, he has relatives here in Quebec we can film it here. LOL. Good Times !!!

LOL.
Although it would make sense for JPJ to film such a sequel, I personally would prefer Jim or Dave. In an ideal world.
ReplySpartacusAlien Movies ForumMy Alien 5Jan 15, 2012
me neither!
and I would want you to think good and hard about directing yourself so the Suits at Fox don't water it the fuck down take away all of it's creative genius.

Can you be more specific about the details of the conversation? Because I have the DVD release of the Special Edition from 99' and it has a conversation between Ripley and Burke about sending them to check out the derelict's coordinates.
Ripley: "I checked the company log dated */*/79...signed Burke, Carter J....You sent them out there and you didn't warn them. Why didn't you warn them Burke?"
Burke: "I made a bad call Ripley...It was a bad call......"
Ripley: "A Bad call? These people are dead Burke. Don't you have any idea what you've done here? Well I'm going to make sure they nail you to the wall for this. You're not going to sleeze your way out of this one...right to the wall."
Can you recall what they said beyond those lines I was able to remember there?
ReplyShellac242Alien Movies ForumAliens Extended SceneJan 15, 2012
The only thing I get when I search for it is the Cocoon scene. (Which in my opinion is awful and glad it made the cutting room floor).
The scene is:
Bishop tells Ripley that Burke wants the Aliens kept alive to be returned to the company labs. Instead of the abrupt cut to Ripley standing over Burke, You see Ripley walk away from Bishop and go to a computer to look into logs for the colony. She sees Burke signed the order and gets up and goes to Medical where Burke is and starts talking with him. Ripley does not come right out about knowing he sent people to look at the derelict and quickly catches Burke lying to him and slowly becomes less calm with him.
This is where the scene picks up in the official releases, with Ripley standing over Burke looking displeased.
It may have played out a little differently but as my memory serves this is pretty accurate to what I saw. It was 5 years ago but has been on my mind since.
