@Snorklebottom
Right…back then, this was a popular approach or style, used by the likes of Amsel and Drew Stuzan…though they were much better...and real pros. Every other movie poster, TV guide cover, and mag had a similar look. So, I kinda fell into that pop-art trap in my late teens…instead of developing a more unique and personalized style…back then anyway.
Still, I love a lot of the work from that era. Now everything is photos and photoshopped.
Thanks for the compliment.

Thanks Frantz! Do you have any Alien art you could post...or just work you could post on the community boards? I'd like to see some from your Italian point of view.

ehh after ive finished the studies and obtained the "master or arts" title ( worth very little ) in 1990 i did work for some time making stained glasses for cathedrals but after that i never did anything anymore being involved primarly in 3d programs for engineers and architects . So i think ive lost my hand :p ( but i can still use it to slap sparky )

I cried like a baby...But I always preface this statement with the fact that I love my Mother Dearly and that's why. Had me whan she was 19...68 years old now and wears Wranglers and Nikes and delivers singing telegrams the past 35 of them to celebrities who visit Montreal, the last one was Oliver Stone! {The Best Was Jack Lemmon!}
Anyways I digress...

Posting leaked stuff is so annoying. You never know if it's legit or if it's still in the movie or not. For all we know this was an earlier build that's been edited or that second pic could be from anything, who's to say its from this film. I prefer to stick to official stuff imo
ReplyTa2punkPrometheus ForumWhat am IJan 6, 2012
We need a speculation thread where people can just all the unofficially released pics/footage lol. I really want to believe the xenomorphs aren't going to play a big role in this film. That's why stuff like this just Erks me, but if it is in there I know Ridley won't disappoint.

Well some kind of monster/mutation is showed in the trailer. Thats obviously the culprit. Not sure about this pregnancy stuff lol. We need to get ripley on these forums.

thats real prometheus ...otherwise the Fox CEO would have said that there were fake images in the leaked trailer ..
there are no reasons to doubt that is not an original trailer ( then discarded in favour of a more "quiet" one )
of course we cannot forget that its maybe a dream and so on ... she seems to be shaw btw .
I rest of my idea that she is "infected" by halloway ..thats explain the image of halloway feeling sick or strange after they have probably made sex .

An atmosphere processing unit would not work without the planet/moon having enough gravitational pull to hold the atmosphere there. Therefore, it's still reasonable to assume that LV-426 had an atmosphere, albet unbreathable, and therefore winds, gas, and weather.
ReplyFrantzPrometheus ForumWhat am IJan 6, 2012
and that is said in Alien ...a very thick atmosphere ... and a good gravity of 0.86
ReplyManndroidPrometheus ForumWhat am IJan 6, 2012
@Frantz
That's right. Forgive me; haven't watched it recently, but as I read that, my brain automatically kicked in the scene where Ash is at the console, reading that off.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumWhat am IJan 6, 2012
Okay my two cents (well pence being British)...
1. The flashes mentioned in the original post are just lightning.
2. It is true that if this is LV-426 then there is a discrepency between the landscape as established in Alien and Aliens. What was it Ash said "Its almost primordial" (which I know was about the atmosphere, but the planet looked primordial too). Yet in Prometheus it looks more like Mars. So we have a dead planet becomes a infant planet.
Could the crash of the Derelict result in the terraformation of LV-426?
3. I don't think Holloway infects Shaw, the scene in the trailer looks like he's suffocating due to lack of air (think Total Recall and Event Horizon). Maybe his helmet gets damaged?
Okay, 3 cents/pence then.

The Girl with a Giger tattoo... all films that attempt to be historical in context are inaccurate no one in Hollywood can make historical accuracy because its entertainment and history is a point of view.

Already wasted a lot of digital ink explaining how prequel is defined, regardless of one's opinion, or preference for how the word is used, so I rest my case.

I actually think, that both the Dictionary.com and Webster definitions are open to interpretation. Furthermore, definitions might change over time, as/if the phenomenons they describe, change and evolve. But I understand the need to base your answers on something that feels valid and secure. Whether or not Prometheus is a prequel, nobody knows - that´s not the issue. I don´t necessarily agree or disagree with you on your conception of Prometheus being a prequel or not, but I kind of disagree with your interpretations of the dictionary descripitions and your faithful commitment to them.
To follow up on your latest contribution on this topic; if u wrote what u wanted to write, then It is not a waste of digital ink IMO. You can write something in here, and watch it get twisted, misunderstood or used as platform for cheap and self-satisfied punchlines, apparently that´s the name of the game in here. But thank you for a pleasant and impartial dialogue about this subject.

Time dilation has not been proved and was added to the theory to maintain the principle that "allegedly" nothing can travel at the speed of light.
Sparky (ironically) put it plain and simple in his post that scientists of old and of tradition stick to their ancient principles and theories, whereas the younger generation are willing to view things from a fresh perspective and question so-called established theories. Although I am not a scientist, I am very scientifically and open minded with a high enough IQ to understand the principles, logic and (with enough time) the equations.
All the arguments in this thread have been a mirror of what happens in the scientific community whenever someone proposes a new theory or presents revolutionary evidence, the established "older" scientists call foul, whether the theory be sound/the evidence be unrefutable or not.
But whatever, ignore the possibility that they could be wrong, or in the least half right, and stall our development as a supposedly intelligent race.
ReplyEnderPrometheus ForumIndestructible Engineer Vessel Jan 6, 2012
Snorkelbottom, you are on another planet I think, where scientific fact relies on some social hierarchy and time dilations doesn’t exist!! Are you serious? Global satellite navigation, which you and I use every day relies on the foundations of Special Relativity and time dilation in particular. It wouldn’t work without it!! But it hasn’t been proven?
I can’t believe I’m having this conversation
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumIndestructible Engineer Vessel Jan 6, 2012
Satellites don't use time dilation...
A satellite in a geosynchronised orbit has a farther distance to travel than point it is synchronised with, thus it has to move at a faster speed than that of which the land below is moving (earths axial rotation). This is not time dilation this time differential, the same principality that is used in LSD (limited slip differential) in automobiles.
An example of time dilation would be a light train...
Imagine a passenger train running on a frictionless track (ignoring the point of g-force for this example), circumventing the world along the equatorial line. Now imagine that this train is travelling fractionally short of the speed of light. Now imagine someone gets up and runs to the front of the train. Technically, that person would be moving at a speed faster than that of the train, and thus travelling faster than the speed of light. Thus scientists implemented (theoretically) time dilation - the faster an object moves and the closer they approach the speed of light the slower time moves, thus the saying that time and space are relative to each other (relativity). This is an example physicists use to explain time dilation and it is flawed, by one key principle...
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumIndestructible Engineer Vessel Jan 6, 2012
Satellites do adjust their clocks for gravitational time dilation.
ReplyGavinPrometheus ForumIndestructible Engineer Vessel Jan 6, 2012
Time differential - let me explain what it is...
Take a compass and a piece of paper. In the middle of the paper make a dot. Using that dot as the center draw two circles, one small and one large. Now, the smaller circle obviously has a smaller circumference than the larger circle.
Now if you wanted something travelling along the larger circles circumference (satellites orbit) to remain in synch with something travelling along the smaller circles circumference (satellite dish) then the object travelling along the larger circles circumference would have to be moving at a greater velocity than the object on the smaller circles circumference. That's the easy part.
But, objects such as a satellite are exposed to less gravity than that of things on the ground, and this adds variables into the equation meaning that extra (usually nano or milliseconds) time has to be added to remain in synch with the object on the ground.
Time cannot be dilated as freely as some scientists would like it to (to fit their theories), for one plane and simple reason...
ReplyEnderPrometheus ForumIndestructible Engineer Vessel Jan 6, 2012
Snorks less copy and pasting and more checking of facts please. The time dilation effect has been measured and verified using GPS.
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumIndestructible Engineer Vessel Jan 6, 2012
Well Snorkel you may have to do more than some paper craft experiments for your theories to compete with this:
