I don't know any of his scores.. but if he did the score for the trailer.. he is bad ass!

I think the score of the trailer has connections to original ALIEN trailer in 1979. Here you have the link to it: Original ALIEN trailer

I've read some "not so good" opinions and worries about Streitenfeld and his scores. I listened to some tracks and it wasn't convincing at all but I hope he'll prove me wrong.

Well, I didn't like him so much in Robin Hood or A good year. I mean, maybe he's not so bad but it's not like he creates music like, for example, H Zimmer does. He's some sort of an average composer and all of those worries are about if he will be able to represent the atmosphere like in Alien or other Sci fi movies/etc (I pretty much liked Dead Space soundtrack, for example). It may be not his genre. And, he didn't do the music for the trailer, it was Audiomachine's "Judge and Jury" (i guess) mix with screams of Alien trailer (or those sounds, I'm not sure if we can call it screams:D, but whatever)

Well Marc Streitenfeld was an assistant to Hans Zimmer and he has only scored 5 films so its a little hard to judge his versatility at this point. What i will say is that what he did do for American gangster and body of lies was good not great but given the benefit of the doubt I'm hoping he comes up trumps with this project. Personally i really loved Clint Mansells score for the fountain and Hans Zimmers score for black hawk down , and gladiator are amongst my favourite film scores but my all time favourite is Vangelis Blade Runner .... Timeless beauty, passionate, Heartfelt and Unforgettably classic.

Yes, Blade Runner score was amazing, I agree! I know that and as I've said already - we will see, maybe he'll show us his quality in Prometheus score. I hope for that, the least thing I'd want for the film would be a stupid soundtrack.

and what about space? I don't know if I have read in these forums or in another place (I have to make some research I think), but I heard that the main action of the movie is going to be in space, like ALIEN.

I've actually read the exact opposite: Lindelof said at one point that the crew spends less time on the ship and more "on the planet" - and as the official synopsis implies, the film apparently revolves around the crew of the Prometheus becoming stranded on a world "at the darkest corner of the universe". It'll probably mirror the Nostromo landing on LV-426, except they don't take off again.

I think there are 2 planets at least. I think they left one of the guys behind on a planet, traveled somewhere else to do something.. When they came back to the planet, the guy they left behind became old, due to traveling at speeds close to light.

Another point to note is that when the ship is decending through the mountains, every mountain is littered with snow. And it looks like they are decending into a valley. In the scene with the dry dusty environment, we see the mountains, and what could be the same valley they landed in.

thanks for that information about Lindelof @Robotpo. Concerning to the "breadcrumb theory", I don't agree with that. As I said in another threat, maybe the Prometheus went on a planet, find the ampules in the strcucture-temple-whateveritis and on their way back to earth, they are intercepted by space-jockeys' ship, they hit and the derelict crashes on LV-426. What do you think about it? Two planets, one with breathable atmosphere and other not (until ALIENS, of course, ...)

If the ship we see in this trailer is the derelict from "Alien", then this movie is unquestionably a direct prequel, in which case, Scott has simply lied.

Maybe we don't have to think about it as a "regular prequel", but a movie which is connected to ALIEN and that develops the most interesting aspects to Ridley Scott: the Space Jockey and why his ship was carrying the eggs. But I think this ship crashing IS the ship we saw in ALIEN. Think about it: two different ships crashing on two different planets in different times? Wouldn't that be strange and a bit ridicoulous?
Reply
artyohPrometheus ForumDifferent locations/planets in the movie.
Not necessarily....shit happens......but if it is the same ship, then Scott has clearly lied. Same ship with an explanation for how it ended up as the dereclict from "Alien" = a direct prequel.

Jeffomorph wrote: "We know they find something on Earth. Have we seen any earth based scenes in the trailer?" I think so. IMO the "waterfall" scene is on Earth because, for me, the disc-shaped craft is sufficiently distinct to perhaps represent an ancient vehicle of the Engineers used during their visit to Earth in its prehistory. With the above premise, I'd suggest the "waterfall" scene is the part of the film where it is described how the Engineers first come to Earth - so a scene from the distant past.

Even if there are no ALIENs in it? Maybe Scott is playing with rumours and how you can maintain a secret nowadays. In 1979 there wasn't forums like this one... not even internet almost for normal people. Now is very difficult to make a movie and that everything keeps in secret until it releases, not like it was in 1979.

I think its possible the waterfall and saucer scene is in the past. It would fit, but here is why I hope not: It would make the movie, the way the story is told, just another movie. The mystery behind some things HAS to stay a mystery. I think no matter what questions are answered in Prometheus, there will still be more questions unanswered, and some new questions raised. That is what made Alien so good. If Prometheus starts with some kind of discovery that leads to this outworldly tempe, there is no reason we have to know how the "map" got there or why. At least not yet. There is talk of more movies. I don't know that I want to know all the how's or why's or even to meet the space jocky, assuming the SJ is actually the "god" which we don't know for sure. I just think it would be very "typical" to try and explain to much in a sci fi movie such as this and ruin it with leaving too many holes for people for us to stew over. Its better to leave the questions, and for us to fill in some of the blanks, and at the same time get some new information. Thats what makes a good story.

NachoFleischman, no problem and I'm sure there will be more than one location, but no idea if the ampule room is one and the planet on which they crash is another. We've seen images where the crew are wearing their helmets in what appears to the structure containing the "ampule room", (such as the unfortunate who gets sprayed with...well, something unpleasant :P ), but others where they're helmetless...so, it IS rather vexing...

SpartacusPrometheus ForumForbes Magazine's 'Prometheus' and the Science Fiction of Corporatism
I like original ideas. some things/ideas have been done to death in Science Fiction.
it’s part of that subgenre of science fiction that’s concerned with the rise of corporate power.
I liked what That Rosenberg woman sad about Alien above. It seemed to me that The Company was a very Big Deal in Alien, there was a whole other story there as we all saw develop. I think The Theron character will be the representative as she hinted at of that mindset in the film, and maybe that's what we are seeing there with her character in the trailer, that she was wrong to believe there is a scientific practicality to everything, and some things are just evil in their very nature. Like Corporate Greed !

maybe if someone can get a close up on the ships landing gear from the HD trailer, then we can compare it to the image of Shaw being back by the sandstorm.

got something else to add here, more food for thought if you will... In Shadow 19 - A script by Jon Spiths you can download here... Shadow19 Apparently this script was bought by Warner Brothers a few years back with the intention of producing it with Keanu Reeves. However, the project never went ahead and instead Reeves worked with Jon Spaihts on a sci-fi romance named Passengers. It was around this time Ridley Scott also discovered Spaihts and the two started work on the Alien prequel, which later transformed into the film now titled Prometheus. We're introduced to an enormous terraforming spacecraft which lands on an uninhabitable planet and spits out six smaller mobile units called Crawlers. Each of these Crawlers then spread across the planet and sow seeds which then terraform the planet. And the name of this terraforming spaceship is... Prometheus. Does this seem like a coincidence? Is Prometheus a terraforming spacecraft?

If you look at the this image... It looks as though their are four of these per engine (which are swivelled and used as thrusters to land)... Thus I think we have confirmed that this... Is showing Shaw being blown between the landing gear and the bow of the ship to the right hand side.

Look a little above the "L" in the image of the ship in flight and you can see the underside of the landing strut, from their layout it seems as though their are 4 of these per engine.
