Spot on BM, the Prometheus is a four engined Osprey. Also if you look between the front and rear engine there is a connectin arm which I reckon will straighten upon descent.

Is Prometheus a terraforming spacecraft? There was more than likely an explosion on the planet at a terraforming refinery or some structure like that I am thinking, even a Pyramid, say the one where the Ampule Chamber might be!!!

@Spartacus, Did you read the Shadow 19 script all the way? This could explain why sometimes they have there space helmets on and sometimes they do not.. If they are casting their shadows on other planets..

In fact on that image you have just posted BM you can see the landing struts clearer, seperated by a light grey/white panel...

FrantzPrometheus ForumThe Sand Storm
yes i had always that idea about the engines ...and that make me think that there arent a bigger ship and a smaller one .. ( of course there can be another ship ... same mission or another mission)

GavinPrometheus ForumThe Sand Storm
It does look like a mighty big ship doesn't it. What if it is towing something bigger like the Nostromo did. But instead of a refinery its a greenhouse of sorts that generates all their oxygen and a percentage of their food (a la Sunshine).

@danrald no not yet just the first 6-7 pages it's a big script. He was talking to ME Bio...LOL

...But, we see similar pieces as wreckage during the "derelict crashing" scene at the end of the trailer, which suggest that this ship impacts with the Derelict... So how do Shaw and Vickers get home?
Reply
danraldPrometheus ForumThe Sand Storm
Well I plowed through the script.. and it's radical! Very radical! Anyway that picture of the temple outside of the cargo bay... looks like it is being "hugged" by a Derelict style ship..

still there is that riddle of the Magellan and/or Prometheus .... ( to me is only the Magellan and Prometheus is just the name of the movie even if was said otherwise )

@Biomechanic, Well, I guess finding that the ship is called Megellan, we are essentially using the process of elimination. We have the shadow-19 script and it states that prometheus is a ship that teraforms. Now, we have a temple, and Lindelof stating that Prometheus is a god.. Then we have Ridley Scott saying this is about faith/Gods/"Chariots of the Gods".. so what am I proposing? That Prometheus is a individual or a space craft that gives us the power to teraform.. Lindelof and Ridley have already said "what happens, if we use this power without permission"... And the term "Prometheus" really just states the obvious.. Someone said that the explosion uncovers more stuff for us.. I bet this is the case as well..

I agree danrald !!! well said.

danraldPrometheus ForumThe Sand Storm
Maybe the "Explosion" is the act of terraforming itself. The cloud of dust that approches the Megellan, has all of these little rocks in them.. or "seeds" maybe.. These seeds also look like flies going crazy, or maybe they are alien insects that pollinate the planet. They can also be seen with Shaw is swept away. Anyway these seeds terraform.. It seems highly unlikely that the teraforming is done by an explosion though..

danraldPrometheus ForumThe Sand Storm
@Biomechanic, I think you are right.. something like that happened, that is why Shaw and Vickers are outside of the craft. They were either trying to get in, to help someone that was inside, or they were inside and they were running away..

my take is they leave in ... 2+2+5/6 they return ( for the night or for some injuried ) ..but they leave someone behind to study better ( red laser scene ) Red laser scene >>>>> BOOOM something happenn ( there are rafe spall and Mohawk in that scene ..both end bad ) the BOOM ( whatever its ) invest the magellan >>>> shaw fly

@Biomechanic, Those nostrils are called "Vaginal Entrances", Giger calls them that. This is why I think Prometheus is that ship.. the ship is alive and being run by Oscar "The Big Head". BTW in addition the 3 vaginal entrances.. the ship also has several "Prongs" that look like they can fit into the vaginal entrances. I counted 2, there could be 3...

I always thought that the film would be called Prometheus because the humans steal the terraforming technology from the SJs or whoever. This is the technology that is eventually used by WY to terraform LV426 etc.

What if the name of the operation is "Prometheus"...thus making the name of the ship "Magellan"...sounds more logical. Just a thought....

For me the directors cut of Alien3 is a frikkin' Masterpiece. Wasn't disappointed at all in it and it had the best Killing scenes of all 4 films. The Queens In Resurrection looked absolutely awesome to me, and sounded even better. 300 I agree what a bore I found that film to be, it had real good cinematography though. For me the biggest disappointment in any film I have ever felt was when I first saw "DUNE" and very surprisingly a lot of the art was first conceived for that one by H R Giger.

Alien 3 was like a episode of Eastenders for me with cgi Aliens lol even the cast and crew say it wasn't what it could have been if the studio just let Fincher do what he needed to do without interference. In the alien anthology the crew reflect on the film and say it was ok it could of been great.

When i bought Necronomicon in 1980 the stand out pic was Necronomicon 4 the alien figure that started it all It fired the imagination of just what a bizarre alien species could be like... Alien in the truest sense of the word in every aspect. What the subsequent films have done is turned the xenomorph into a bug /lizard its almost prehistoric , in the subsequent concepts nothing like how i envisioned it to be. On a Subconscious level having a blind alien makes it feel unevolved because of our association with blind creatures like bats, moles, snakes, etc ..in Necronomicon 4 the creature has huge eyes and almost human hands which gives it a unnerving supreme intelligence and the bulb at the back of its head makes you wonder what the hell goes on in that brain. I always hoped that the subsequent films after the original would explore those aspects more and define the creature with a hyper intelligence well beyond that of human understanding instead we got a iguana lizard with a biomechanical shell.

Well it didn't survive alien, so it's not that hyper intelligent, and it killed for no apparent reason which would also hint at low intelligence; however I liked the idea of a hyper intelligent bio-mech creature that eats brains kills and absorbs it's victims some how - but that isn't exactly a unique concept. I think Ridley has darker ideas with the Space Jockey thing, and the Xeno is only a piece. Remember the idea of a queen is not Ridleys concept.

THE STAR WARS PREQUELS!!!!!!!!! IMO the first 2 films should have been condensed into the 1st film and the Revenge of the Sith should have been the second film and the 3rd film should have been set when VADER was "born" and ended whe n a New Hope began.

I almost said that same thing! Thought they were really really bad, all 3 of them.l They had some fabulous scenes, like about 5 Total IMO and that's where that ended as far as I am concerned.

had HIGH HOPES for these films, sadly, they all just completely missed the mark for me ah well..... Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi Aliens Alien3 Alien Resurr ( you get the idea) Star Wars: The Phantom Menace The Village (any film from M Night Shyamalan really - sorry to say....) Halloween 1 & 2 (2007 / 2009) Star Trek (2010) The Thing (2011) i'm hoping against hope that i won't need to ad PROMETHEUS to this list! (i'm guessing i won't have to!) =)

I thought The Village was very smart and imaginative but I understand why so many people did not like that one, I also thought SIGNS was even more so...and am still trying to understand what it was exactly that was so wrong with that one, I found it MOST entertaining and HIGHLY ORIGINAL ! His last two, "Airbender", and "Devil" were rediculous !!! & the one with the dust or wind or whatever with Wallberg, I forget what it was called, highly original idea that failed miserably as half of that film was total garbage too...it's sad, he had so much promise when he made Signs, but never grew as a director from there.

"In the alien movie, the SJ ship insides look almost taken over by the secreted architecture of the alien hive. In the Prometheus trailer, the insides look a bit more machine like more tech vs. the bio mech. Same ship or not, could it be significant or simply artistic license? Meaning, if the Xeno weapon got away from the Engineers, perhaps this bio-mech, nano-borg virus ooze, took over the ship, turning it into sort of a "womb" creating the eggs out of the ampules (ampule champer looks similar to egg chamber). Maybe the SJ sitting in his chair, BECAME part of the ship/chair, as fused to it as this bio-mech virus morphed everything it touched, and part of the SJ transformed and burst out into whatever started laying eggs?" I like this part of your analogy...

we can discuss of everything and we are good at it ( more or less ) but better if you post a thread at once because 3 are a way too many ...will be impossible to follow the forum if everyone post 3 threads togheter ...will be a race to who have the last one ... plus we lost sight on a few very important ones ( "who i am" for example ) . I hope you can agree :) ...with friendship ....

Archetech, FYI I have the 6 disc Blu-ray Alien Anthology and it just happens that I was watching Alien 1 last night (again) with the Ridley Scott commentary. Following are his exact words as Dallas and his 2 crew members enter the Space Jockey chamber; I always wanted to go back and make an Alien V or VI where we find out where they come from and we go there and answer the question "Who are they?" Mars is to close so they can't be gods of war. But the theory was, in my head, was this was an aircraft carrier, a battlewagon of a civilisation and the eggs were cargo, which were essentially weapons. Sort of like a large form of bacteriological stoke. Biomechanoid warfare. The Space Jockey, I've always thought was the driver of the craft who is now after many ages. But clearly from here, this is where the transmission would emanate from, probably in an automatic transmission. So this creature, obviously, had experienced maybe one of the eggs had been disturbed and creature had got out and had attacked the rest of the crew. Don't ask me where they got to. But he's pretty gruesome. But let's say he was part of the civilization he came from and now melded into his seat.

But that still doesn't imply that there isn't something worse than a lizard Xeno thing. Maybe the real question is WTF the actual weapon is, does, or was originally intended to deliver. Obviously the ship had a purpose, but what we humans view as a weapon, may not be viewed as a weapon by those who created it. In either case, it wouldn't be very effective as a weapon concept in as much as we know right now, which may be where the dark side of Prometheus takes us.

Scott's concept of the SJ ship was it was some kind of "bomber" is a good one. I actually thought a bit further along the lines that the ship was part of a "terraforming" mission. Drop the eggs into the population of a planet and wait for the native civilisation to be wiped out. Then the SJ race could move in.
