Ripley Clone 8Prometheus ForumPrometheus Trailer on it's WayDec 8, 2011
haha, I only wish. But Fox..you have to admit they are doing a really good job containing a majority of the material. Every little image, trailer, synopsis they take down. There not lazy about it which means they really care about the project. Can't wait. From that little crappy quality I saw on Bing it looks incredible already. :)

The last picture you have posted could explain the egg partly being buried in the picture with the egg / rock on the floor to the right of David, where he is holding the camp bag.....

Well...I was eight the summer ALIEN came out. My brother and I had spent a week with relatives in Oklahoma and our mother saw the movie while we were gone. On the way home from the airport she told us about it. I remember lifting my feet off the floor of the car in case something was under the seat about to grab me.
Every time we went to the mall I would find and "read" The Book of ALIEN. (Finally bought my own copy about 5 years ago.)
The next thing I did was make my mother take me to Toys 'r' Us and buy the ALIEN figure for me. (I do miss that thing.)
I believe it was the following year ALIEN was shown on Showtime. My father taped it and my brother and I watched it late one night, just the two of us. I was positive I going to throw up during the chestburster scene. So much so that I made my brother pause the movie while I sat over the toilet. Luckily I didn't and was able to finish the movie.
Been a fan ever since. Constantly upgrading: VHS to LaserDisc to DVD to BluRay. Got the movie novelizations, comics (including the original Heavy Metal version of ALIEN), novelizations of the comics, shirts, hats, pins, action figures. You get the idea.
Yes, I'm a forty year-old fanboy. (Not virgin...fanboy.) Both of my boys (9 &12) are also fans of the movies and eagerly awaiting the release of Prometheus. Now how about a trailer already, dammit!

Alien just changed everything to be honest, there had literally never been anything like it before, it pioneered believibility in setting, the dirty future idea, the space truckers idea, it just made scifi way more believable. and the creature itself? finally clued hollywood into the fact that your bog standard guy in a rubber suit doesn't cut it

i had just turned 10 in May of '79 and was on my way to a Little League game when my father was talking to my mother about some Sci Fi movie a friend at work had seen and said it was scary as hell and a alien came out of a guys chest .My mother promptly told him it was disgusting and cut him off wanting to hear no more.Needless to say i was hooked and in that day no VCR most movies took 4 to 5 years to be shown on TV and no on in my area had HBO.I did get the Kenner doll and wish I till had it they are worth several hundred dollars now. Finally saw it around '84 I think on VHS .Still my favorite movie of all time.

I have a lot of Merchandising memories of Aliens, more so than the first film. I still have the small lead miniatures that came in small black snappy cases, painted and all, think they were around 2cm's tall?
Saved up for weeks to buy a 1:1 scale pulse rifle made from Vac form and resin, then another month to figure out how to build the damn thing. I bought the Halcyon Drop ship, APC and Alien with Egg base kits and built them up. Also, I managed to find a head set mike of the same make as used in Aliens, even painted it up green to wear with the costume I never managed to complete.
Best of all, I remember the Arcade game that was to be found upstairs in Birmingham Airport, played on the one quite a lot.

i think it be cool if after prometheus came out on dvd it comes with a documentery of the alien univeres, like if it was actually a real documentry telling us about the xenos and SJs and their origins. Pluse mention a lil of the movie canons in it. It be cool how it could give us some good insight on things in the universe that we may have missed or havent known yet. idk just a thought

Kenner is a subsiduary of the Company My Father worked for in 1979 and is Owned by that company... IRWIN TOY.
You can see for yourself how amazing this thing is. If you click on the JAW icon at the bottom left of the page you can see the mouth from this thing up close.
You could also slide it out and back in like for real and it looks very real.

Sick! I want one! I used to have quite a few Alien toys back in the day. My 2 faves were the Alien Queen with wings that flapped when you press a button on the back and the Gorilla Alien that had a hollow rubber head that you could to suck up water and spit "acid".
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumHot Toys to release Prometheus Toys.Dec 7, 2011
I could not believe that about 5-6 weeks after the Toy Show, the movie came out, and it was every bit as exciting to me as the actual Alien Doll was, even more so. That Freaked me out even back then simply because most toys designed from characters in films never worked well or were "off" in some way, but this one was "spot on". And usually the Film would come out first and IF it became popular then came the toys, but for this one the merchandising machine was already running, weeks before the films release.
You cannot see it perfectly in that picture, almost, but the jaw on that thing actually came out even further.

#1 "V" 2010
#2 All the Stargates
#3 Terra Nova
#4 Sarah Conner Chronicles
I would give a body part for a 10 year long series with Xeno's, SJ's, and Colonial Marines.
ReplydraekusPrometheus ForumFavourite Sci-Fi on TV Dec 7, 2011
What...? No one's mentioned BSG (the new version) or Deep space 9 yet? Really?
Still, I like what's been mentioned so far. With the exception of Terra Nova. I've seen every episode to date but still feel like it could be much better.

And for what it is worth - I think Sparta deserves a role.Yes we got off on the wrong foot and yes he can be emotional, but he has still covered a lot of ground here and you can tell he loves the website and would be fully committed.

What was the original career of a serious candidate to play the original Alien?
ReplyEngineer Prototype - Model GAJ84Prometheus ForumPrometheus Movie Trivia Game!Dec 7, 2011
Neither of those are correct i'm afraid. Here's a cryptic clue, the "serious candidate" went on to play a character who wouldnt be wise to upset so you should let him win.

Ok Here We Go,
For 5 Points,
1 Point Each and then a Bonus Question.
Question 1

Who composed the background music for the scene above in which Ripley Finally, and without Ridley Scott's intent, Kills the Alien?
Question 2

I am pretty sure most of the people here already know this incredible actress Genette Goldstein, But do you knew Which Star Trek Character was created because of her role in Aliens?
Question 3

What is the name of the film making Technique that made the scene above possible?
Question 4

When the scene above was filmed, the cameras Junet was using to shoot the scene could not pick up anything in the water, so a particular substance, a liquid, had to be poured into the water to "make it so"....what was it?
Bonus Question 5
In listening to the commentary on the special edition of Alien Veronica Cartwright compares Scott with Alfred Hitchcock many times and one time she mentions filming in perhaps his 2nd most famous film..."The Birds"...and she says that for the scene where there are tons of birds on the Jungle Gym, half are real and half are not real, but that Ridley And Hitchcock are so good at making everything you see look real even when it isn't, that "it's what your eyes do not see that they are so good messing with"... what were the 1/2 of the birds that were Not real made of?
Good Luck !
