Ruh don't sell Noomi short. Watch Tattoo. If you have netflix stream it live. It's the best of the 3 movies. Scott it one of the most interesting films in 4 years. I read that in one brief shot in the Comic-Con clips is Noomi weilding a flame thrower on an Alien. She can be one intense, tough and physical actress. Look, Ripley is great and the first always feels like the best. Since Shaw is not a Ripley knock-off, Noomi gets a fair shot at it. Scott has been telling folks how impressed he is by her work. Go Noomi !

Thought this Noomi quote was interesting. She plays a scientist, a real believer but this is something beyond that. She adds that "[u]Prometheus is ever more demanding than the Millenium series. People think Lisbeth Salander was very physical, but there were only a few fighting scenes[/u]." Noomi is now in hard physical training for her part in Prometheus. "[u]I want to transform my body into something like a cat or a lion. One minute they're resting quietly, and then they can suddenly explode into action. I want to feel like whatever happens I'm prepared[/u]" Sounds like more than a scientist to me.

It's amazing sometimes how you can be blind and not see clear. After reading NEURION'S feedback there, i was thinking. I asked a question about the crashed ship on LV - 426 and how we might find out what happened. But like film of today is never what you think in your head - OBVIOUSLY lol but what i mean is when PROMETHEUS comes out and we see it. You might just say to yourself "Aww yeah that must have been one of the space ships we saw in the film that crashed landed on LV - 426" No big SCOOBY DOO MYSTERY ;) just a simple answer in the end. Am i right??? So thinking too far ahead me thinks ;) Cause my head is now wrecked thinking :P Just strandS of Alien DNA within the film as it was said. Done! End of!

well if the send a "secret mission" out to find them or whatever, it may not be public knowledge. i mean like the government is gonna tell EVERYONE about alien lifeforms.

Astromax, Whether or not “2001” was preachy…I don’t know. I guess it depends on one’s perspective and set of values. Personally, I think it was at bare minimum…intentionally very cryptic and shrouded with vagueness and ambiguity. I like that quality in the film. I wouldn’t mind seeing the makers of “PROMETHEUS” follow that lead or path with the new prequel. As far as “2001” being preachy? I wouldn’t use that word. Maybe “presumptuous”…or perhaps the other way…”dismissive”, in regard to traditional human beliefs or theories regarding creation, origins, and adaptation of Earthly or universal “Life”. Personally, I doubt that non-divine, extra-terrestrials had anything to do with human development…but that’s just me…and probably about 97.5 percent of the world’s population as well. As far as a “true prequel” is concerned, the so called word “prequel” is a slangy corruption of the actual word “sequel.” The word “prequel” didn’t even exist until the early 1970s. Fassbender says the first 2 thirds of the flic are the intelligence and the final third is the action. So, whe're not going to see Brett early walking the corridors saying, "meowow, here kitty kitty". That tension was insane. It made people in the audience sick, literally. But Ridley says it will be tough and nasty. I for one believe him. Can't wait!!!

Yeah Drogie, how bout' the ship piloted by a huge head. There are two things that scare me about Ridley's approach. 3D, I'm old school literally. I remember the flashing subtitles on the movie screen. "Put on your 3D glasses." 3D was for certain shots while the rest of the flic was 2D. Now I didn't see Avatar in 3D so maybe it's no big deal now but every frame in 3D? Scarey! The "head" pilot, is there precedent for that in sifi? Now, my latest question. Filming in Iceland right? It's earths early days right? The only actors who are confirmed to be there are Theron and Fassbender. They said Noomi was coming but that hasn't happened yet? Is Noomi misdirection here? If Fassbender and Theron are on earth during it's early development. You know, to observe the progress of the alien's project? See where I'm going? They both have unusually long life spans and could not have been created by the Company, but by the Aliens who engineered us. 2 Androids? It seems news that Fassbender was an android slipped out with no resistence (press release to counter the idea) from the studio. Both created by the space jockeys? I mean, we find out in the dig where they live, but they have always known where we are or will be. A couple of spys maybe? Surely, their Iceland scenes could be contempoary to the story line or just a gigantic flash forward etc. but.... Lets speculate on what we know, not what we dream. Go back over any interview you have, any video interview especially Fassbender's for MTV and Lindelof's on Kevin Polack's chat show. I'm convinced the answers are in there somewhere.

OK let me go unhinged for a bit. Filming earths early days in Iceland right? The only two actors confirmed to be there are Theron (Vickers) and Fassbender (David). Noomi has been mentioned but has not been there to date. Is Noomi misdirection here? The news of Fassbender being an android leaked early and was never opposed by the studio. "Thou protest too little". If David and Vickers are on earth in the early days of evolution.......see where I'm going with this? We're talking about an unusually long life span, and certainly could not have been created by the company. 2 androids? Is that possible, leaving Vickers to be the surprise, like Bishop was! Thoughts.....

Your comparison of the alien to a hungry lion shows how diluted the alien franchise has become. Thats why Prometheus aspires to be an original story but still within the alien universe. Was 2001 preachy?

Ha thanks Ruhaniya ; ) I thought to myself i was thinking a bit too muchabout it lol. But i think ASTROMAX is right. My questions will probably never be answered OR possibly at the end of Prometheus you might be able to come up with some idea in your head about what happened to the lead up to the first ALIEN film. Am amazed from a small scene in ALIEN with the Space Jockey how they have come up with such a fantastic story, well from what we know of. When i saw the Space Jockey in that scene, i was like what the HELL is that? I want to know what happened!

So as they have said.....Strands of Alien DNA....As you have explained there the film really is going to be its OWN FILM!!! It still sounds like its going to be a great film. Can't wait. Something new but similiar in ways. Thanks astromax.

Please folks, lets get on the same page and move on. Lets ask new questions. Like, has it been confirmed what star system the crew will journey to to meet their makers? Whats the science? Is there faster than light speeds? Should the movie worry about science like time dilation and thousands of questions more interesting? Are the spacejockey's a metaphore for us. How do we treat our planet? We have certainly couquered other countries only to teraform the indiginous species into insignificance. Would we do that to other worlds? Duh! This will probably be Ridley's "heavens Gate" or his "2001". The man has titanium balls. Just watch youtube videos on the Blade Runner shoot. All the also ran producers and money men on that movie come across as village idiots compared to Ridley. Ridley is the bomb.

Humans on earth wouldn't know about the space jockeys if they weren't told. Sure, the mission to their world would be known by a select few, but if most of the crew die, and those that survive never return to earth? The space jockeys are proposed to be super-intelligent, so they may block transmissions back to earth or even wipe human memories.

Okay Dallas never heard of the Space Jockey. But Dallas and the crew were on their way home to earth. Is it possible they couldn't have heard due to being away?

It will be interesting to see the movie's explanation of how far and how fast they will travel to the Alien home world, light speed, time dilation etc.

Also how will the advancement in computers since 1979 Alien and the clunky PC - advanced at that time be shown. Will Prometheus computers be more advanced 50 years earlier?????

I say none If there is a human survivor it would not link in with the original. The humans did not know about the space jockey's. PROMETHEUS takes place 50 plus years earlier. Human contact with the space jockey would have been known from that point on. Information is to quick. Maybe they could go back and edit the original (like they did with return of the Jedi) and have Dallas confirm the jockey. So the only way is with no human survivor.

Not sure! I still think this means the Space Jockey aliens and not the xenomorph aliens.

What are “they” doing to my “ALIEN”? What is “PROMETHEUS” going to do…to either FRACK-up the ALIEN Universe or redeem it? I don’t know…seems like nobody else does either. Why does everyone seem to think that “the Alien” (creature) would be this unstoppable force…or the perfect biological weapon? As much as I’ve loved the original since ’79 (I was 12 years old), the creature didn’t do much more than a hungry lion, tiger or bear from planet earth. Other than forced insemination and acid for blood, the Alien creature wasn’t really any more dangerous than terrestrial predators. So, to me…this idea of the Space Jockey(s) genetically engineering and or using the Alien creatures to “Clean” or a prepare a planet for potential “Terra-forming” (actually it wouldn’t be not be Terra-forming…maybe just atmosphere processing) seems pretty lame. Am I missing something? Don’t get me wrong, “ALIEN” is one of my favorite films eva…BUT, all four of the Alien film stories thus far have severely handicapped the human characters with fairly feeble…or no weapons. Moreover, the stories have all located the characters in enclosed locales with very limited space and movement…like any good haunted house story should. I hate to say it but, the alien nemesis in stories like H.G. Wells’ “War of the Worlds” or even the cornball “Independence Day” seem more globally lethal on a planetary level…than the Alien(s). The extra-terrestrials in those films could generate technology, weapons, interstellar travel, and coordinate attacks on a massive level. The fact is that the original “ALIEN” film is a “B” monster movie story…made with “A” level production values. It was crafted by great artists, which elevated a film once titled “STAR BEAST”, to a masterpiece of fiction…and a cracklin’ good yarn along the way. A film that has been called “Ten Little Indians In Space”…ALIEN is perfect film…a perfect thing...to me...like Michelangelo's "David." So once again I ask “What are “they” doing with my ALIEN?” I hope they are doing it proud. Many of the “Prometheus” plotline rumors seem a bit preachy and self-important to me. This whole hyper-genetic, “building blocks of life” theme gets on my nerves, and feels very George Lucas“ish” to me. Hopefully, “midichlorians” will not be introduced. As I’ve posted before…I like to imagine that the Alien is not just some genetically engineered aberration. But, that a God almighty created the seemingly hostile “Alien”…as He created the Black Widow, King Cobra, or Lucifer…for His own mysterious and divine reasons. I just hope the new film is excellent and doesn’t try to explain away our universe and life itself with didactic agendas. ~Neurion

I wonder what science will be used to explain how fast Prometheus will travel to get to whatever star system she travels to, to visit the space jockey race. Here is a wild quote from a website explaining time dilation. "If we continue to accelerate to 0.99999999999999 c, for every day on board, nearly twenty thousand years pass for the observer at rest," (on earth) Add 1 more 9 to that speed and time dilation jumps to over 60,000 years. Prometheus is only 30 years pre-Alien so.......

I think it would be logical that the eggs can recieve sustanance from the ground it sits on. The tendrils that basically hold the egg in place on the ground can absorb nutrients to sustain it. With any nutrient that is absorbed you have to worry about waste or by products. So the blue mist that was seen in Alien could be the by product waste produced by the eggs and also be used as a self generated protective field. So when it's broken the facehuggers come out of hybernation. We are talking microscopic absorbtion to keep these eggs sustained for long periods of time. That's how I would write it if push comes to shove.

Just look at the movies he has done: Alien (1979) Blade Runner (1982) Thelma&Louise (1991) Gladiator (2000) Black Hawk Down (2001) Kingdom of Heaven (2005) American Gangster (2007) We can add to this list also The Duellists, Black Rain, 1492: Conquest of Paradise, G.J. Jane, Body of Lies and Robin Hood. Now he's coming back with s-f movie, and when we look at his previous works it this genre such as Alien and Blade Runner, well ... we have to expect another masterpiece (I hope)!
