That's a good one Zeta, I notice a lot of fans are going with the "In Space..." beginning. I wonder if they will make the title a somehwat run off of that as a kind of tribute to the first Alien film... ?

I agree, it's quite a range of cast, but a well chosen range. I think everyone will preform amazingly.

Hey Sophie's Dad, Sorry about the misnomer. Next time I'll just call you "0413"...or how 'bout "Space Junky"...little play on words there :-). As far as pre-Nostromo, company vessels...I think "Necronome" may be referring to something other than the ships we've mentioned. Trouble for me is...I'm such a tight ass when it comes to ALIEN, that I really don't include any of the sequel films as part of the ALIEN Canon...for me personally. As much as I love the film "ALIENS", when James Cameron brought in the queen concept and altered the Alien's appearance, habits, and life cycle...it branched into another type of story for me, a cousin or kindred to ALIEN perhaps, but not brother. Over the years, I've just sort of imagined or rationalized that the sequels were all just some kind of nightmares that Ripley has been having in hypersleep. I know that's sad...but except for ALIENS, the sequels have been very weak. For me, ALIEN is like THE EXORCIST...a great, dramatic film, that just happens to be scary as hell. THE EXORCIST also suffers from weak or terrible sequels. Both are generally classier franchises than most Science Fiction or Horror flicks...but let's face it, they're getting dangerouly close to Freddy, Jason and Pinhead territory. ~Neurion

0413 sounds good!! anyhoo the sequels for me anyway... Aliens; good action adventure story, cool tech but the aliens for me feel a bit short. Alien 3 ; a missed opportunity, as we have seen, Fincher is not a bad director, i feel Fox strangled that movie. Alien Resurrection; another missed opportunity as the director is actually good, once again i think Fox are to blame also the aliens again . no justice to the source material as in Giger not consulted enough on design, and the newborn was frankly ridiculous. I mean the cast in all movies are exceptional at their craft, the fx crews professionals but some thing came loose in the execution.

hey guys! first post !! i have read some where that Ridley says the alien shape has been "overused" and something new will be done for the new movie, the "d.n.a." as he says will be present in the design, personally i think this will be great especially as Giger will be onboard as consultant. on a seperate issue does anyone know what Dallas whispers to himself in the airducts? this has bugged me for years!!! Thanks!!

It is common knowledge, that the Nostromo, was NOT!, the first Weyland Yutani ship to get an Alien on board. There was another company vessel that had one before!. And contrary to what you might think, Promethius was NOT the name of that first vessel, but I suspect it was the project name, that Weyland Yutani gave to the Alien, as a project for the bio-weapon. Alien 1, was all 'really' about which speices was higher up the evolutionary ladder, Alien?, or Human?. Aliens, was an experiement, to clearly prove one abouve the other!, in a safe place, away from earth. More to evaulate the threat to earth, that to evaluate the potential as a weapon. I would have written this story 1000 times better than they ever could have!, there is not enough sub-plot to warrent an entire film, you need a sideways step to it. If anyone would have listened to me?, I would certainly expose the plot to use the alien as a weapon in full in a prequel, the whole Nostromo, and Hadleys Hope thing laid bare, and then destroy the alien race, in an early planet shift, plunging LV426 into volcanic meltdown, and amoung other twists, make the space jockeys gentle saviors, trying to kill the necronome (the Aliens). And protect everyone, but who the fuck asks me!, everyone likes my ideas, and falls in love with them, everyone tells me "you should send these ideas off!", everyone goes nuts for my writing, a whole room held by my every word. Ridley Scott should ask me man!. This idea of corporate subdifuge to obtain a clear picture of the Alien plot, hasn't got enough meat on its bones to warrent an entire prequal movie, we;ve seen all this stuff already man, 30 years ago, it needs an entire twin story, like I have in mind, something totally fresh, to give it enough substance. This Alien prequel isn't nearly enough on its own!, we've seen all of that stuff before!, 30 years ago before, it needs something entirely new to add to it, something that would change the way people saw the Alien films after it forever, like 'my' idea for the prequel movie. But the important ones never listen!. They steal my ideas!, agian and again, put them into mass production, best selleing lines they've ever had, blah, blah, blah, but never really listen man. life SUCKS!.

Hi Sophie, I'm pretty sure that in the airduct scene, Dallas is thinking aloud...and says to himself, "Get a hold of yourself." I think you're right about the DNA thing. My guess is that the creature design(s) in PROMETHEUS will have Giger's style and a retro-ALIENesque appearance. Welcome to the wonderous world of Oooooooowhoooooohooooo...PROMETHEUS-MOVIE.COM. Wow…Necronome came out swingin’! Yeah…I think you’ve got some pretty good ideas. However, it was never confirmed that “The Company” wanted the ALIEN for the Bio-weapons Division. Ripley just said that that was all she could “think”…or figure. Seems to me that the company didn’t know exactly what the hell they were dealing with…except for what Ash was communicating to them (which I’m sure would’ve been substantial). Proof of the existence of extra-terrestrial life would’ve been pretty big, and a feather in the company’s “cap” in and unto itself. Anyhoo…to which pre-Nostromo, Weyland Yutani vessel are you referring? Are you talkin’ about the “SNARK” or “LEVIATHAN” ships from O’Bannon’s earlier drafts? Or perhaps Ridley Scott or Dan O’Bannon’s character profile notes? ALL OTHER PRIORITIES ARE RESINDED…Neurion

there was mention in an early draft of an earth vessel on the planetoid that is discovered by the Nostromo crew, i think snark and leviathan were suggested names for what was to become the Nostromo.

in the book alien, the alien breaks into the storage area and eats some of the food, it could be assumed that is how it got so big so fast..maybe, because in the book they torched the storage room ...and all the remaining supplies. i do agree that it should not be explained too much.

Your all bonkers!. Didn't you see the special features on the Alien laser disc?. Right!, the space jockey was all about saving money in the origonal filming of Alien. In the origonal script, there was a derilict alien ship, the whole crew of which had been exploded from the inside, leaving a warning beacon behind them about what happend, and a ruined alien temple, indiginouse to the people of LV426, based on a religion of brutal violence, where the eggs were all laid. To save money, ridley scott merged the two concepts, of the alien ship, savaged by the alien eggs, and the alien temple into one, single (confusing!) thing. The space jockeys are not a superior species, they are hapless victims, that never origonally had the eggs on board at all!, the egg chamber on board, is purely the merging of the temple and the ship together to save money!.

Sophie0413Prometheus ForumThe Space Jockey
necromone the space jockey was nearley cut because it would cost TOO MUCH Ridley had to persevere with the suits at fox to get it in, and a good thing too, also in the original script there was supposed to be an earth ship there as well, but Carrol and Giler cut the script up and added the subplot with ash. they did that with the script NOT Ridley

Again I think we all have to trust Ridley Scotts`vision and film-making maturity on this one. Lets not forget that she`s a wonderful actress with dynamism (Monster, The Road) she isn`t afraid to take on a role head on. Where as she may be beautiful, I don`t think its a distraction. In "The Road"...she was make up-less and stunning, But she wanted us to Loathe her character...which she pulled off tremendously in her short screen time. I just saw Michael Fassbender in X-Men First Class last night and he was fantastic. So if she can have some dramtic scenes with him, I think this film will me a true masterpiece

Praetorian, you're right about the 'big Aliens' mentioned somewhere. That got me a little concerned too, but they may have meant 'very tall alien beings' (Jockeys'?) who knows? I really don't want to see supersized Giger denizens, size does not really matter in this instance. The only size aspect I want to see is some aspect of a planet or interior environment to create a sense of dread and foreboding a la the 'Necronomicon.'

ZetaReticuliPrometheus ForumThe Space Jockey
I'd rather think of them as superior creators and progenitors completely devoid of mere emotion, suffering or even ecstasy in their pursuit of whatever they do. These 'human' aspects would merely hinder their 'scheme of things'. Neither good nor evil but something absolutley neutral letting NOTHING stand between them and their purpose. This is just ONE impression I get from that standalone image of him/her in the chair in Alien - the image is that powerful, mysterious and eerie and speaks silent volumes.

Wow, that's a lot to get out of one image! I would have to agree with you though. They don't seem like killers, hunters or savages. But more so like a race with a specific purpose, possibly driven by some form of religion?

I usually remind them of the dog and pony or donkey shows that girls do in Mexican border towns. That's when they come back with,"Well they're just doing it for the money...you men would "do" an alien chick for free!"...I guess maybe I would" Lol!!! and what's wrong with a bit o' blue leggy alien action eh? No, you're not alone Neurion, hey so that makes - er - two - of us so far............anyone else - (stunned silence). Oh, ok. Can you inflate CGI? No? There goes Neytiri then outta the window then! As for the gorgeous Charlize Theron, I was thinking more along the lines of some kind of transformation or situation where she becomes 'physically' entwined with the (supposed) concept of the film, namely the emphasis on the 'creation' of the Alien race and Giger's input. I dunno, I've just got a feeling in my water about CT - I certainly can't see her being benevolent in this film. I think her character will surprise us some way. Mexico sounds an exotic place Neurion, which 'border towns' are they, lol.

ZetaReticuliPrometheus ForumA Strong Cast
Certainly Praetorian. They 've got the cream of thespians here. I mean some of the nationalities, and their faces even - very intense and characterful. Look at them: Michael Fassbender - strong-jawed Aryan type (as he played a Nazi before?) Noomi Rapace - I haven't seen 'Dragon Tattoo', but I suspect a very intense female indeed Sean Harris - My God, did you see him as Ian Brady? Lizardy and totally evil. Kate Dickie - not familiar with any of her roles, but on face value she looks like a potential emotional or possibly treacherous 'Lambert' type Idiris Elba - cottoned on to him in 'Luther' which is back with a new series incidentally - excellent and moody performer. Charlize Theron - one minute catwalk beauty and next raging prostitute serial killer ('Monster') - talk about extremes. I trust very much the others will have some quality, but still not familiar with those yet. Yes, what an ensemble so far! This is going to be one headf*** of a film I tell you!

Hi Guys... First post today. I really think that over the past few movies the concept of the Alien has been diluted so much, It has taken away from the mystery. After all...It is only a movie, So lets go on the premise of Ridleys original. * We didn`t really "see" the Alien for any more than a second or two until the end of the movie. This is a classic horror film technique. You`re more scared of what you CANT see. * It is a stand alone film, set in the same universe, I think Ridley Scott is an intelligent enough film maker...He will be very clued in to not making Prometheus AWARE of its other film family ie. Alien ...(by giving a Nod or a wink for fanboys) I think this ruins films completely and trivializes them and insults the intelligence of the new audience I for one hope to god that he doesn`t try to explain too much, Rather I hope he gets us questioning it even more.

I hope Ridley Scott makes this film completely unaware of its other films, It will only insult the intelligence of the new audience I think everyone would expect a similar tagline to "In Space...." I have a feeling that Prometheus is the name of the ship that carries the CAST, But if the marketeers have there way....it could be disastrous. On the theme of "Prometheus" (Prometheus stole Fire from Zeus and gave it to Mankind).... I would love to see something like... This is a pretty interesting topic. Unfortunately we don't know much about the actual story. However, based on the filmmaker's comments and rumors surrounding the project I came up with a few fairly corny taglines. I like the idea of connecting the new films tagline with the original "In space no one can hear you scream"...somehow. I know the last two are somewhat comical...but what the hell. Before the nightmare began…the terror was unleashed. Before the nightmare began…we awakened the beast. Before the nightmare began…WE unleashed the terror. In space the key to our future is discovered…and the source of our oblivion is leashed. In space…terror is in the bloodstream. In space no one could hear them scheme. Somewhere in deepest space...all hell is breaking loose! -Neurion

I like how you guys are using the "Nightmare" analogy, as throughout the Alien films, Ripley would experience nightmares of the creature. In some pieces of "ALIEN" literature, the nightmares some experienced were the Alien's way of telepathically connecting to the individual. Interresting that you both chose to use it. I really like Bishop's tagline and your "Before the nightmare began…the terror was unleashed." Neurion, they both could pass for good taglines in my opinion.

Hard to say, I doubt they will dress her up like any of those concept drawings, but they might roughen all the actors/acvtresses up a bit for this role. What gives the ALIEN movies that "ALIEN" feeling is the dirt, the grit, nothing is clean and shiny. These characters will be fighting for their lives and in the most strangest of places. But who knows what they will look like.

NeurionPrometheus ForumWill Charlize Theron's beauty be subverted?
Hello Guys...Oh, and ALIENetts, I read that Charlize is gonna be playing a character named "Vickers" in PROMETHEUS", so my guess is that she'll be a normal non-alien, human chicky. In this sense, Scott is in the same ball park as the first film, casting a tall, leggy, small busted, no-nonsense, somewhat brazen, survivor type of babe. Except that Theron is an absolute beauty and Weaver was...well...not as much. However, I would love to see some of those Giger "nymphs" manifested on film...just not an ALIEN attached film. I've always found many of them to be attractive...at least in a wierd, mono-chromatic, bio-mechanical, perverted, "queen of the dead" kinda way. I hope I'm not alone in that sentiment. We guys can be pretty strange with our sexual appitites I guess. Most dudes I know joke about the sexiness of blue or green females from AVATAR, STAR TREK, and STAR WARS...or Giger's work. Human women tend to get annoyed by guy's attitudes in that regard. I usually remind them of the dog and pony or donkey shows that girls do in Mexican border towns. Well put and quite comical I might add, haha. I would definately love to be part of the artwork design for the film. As well as some say in the plot. But I think Ridley will do a more than fine job delivering us a fantastic ALIEN movie. So I'm not too worried with regards to plot. Just when they mentioned "bigger Aliens". To me the scary aspect of Alien was that it wasn't too big. Not much bigger than a human. When the monster is too large, it's no longer scary. As seen in Alien vs Predator; the Alien Queen was huge compared to James Cameron's Queen in Aliens, and because of this, it had little to no shock value. No scary edge, it was more like a big dinosaur. My concern is that they get the creature design down perfectly. Not eliminating most of what Alien is known for but yet introducing new features which will once again make Alien scary and not just some CGI raptor knock-off.

Hello Alien Zealots! Wow, to be involved with the PROMETHEUS Project…Say, that would be cool. Of course, it would be “wild” just to be “immortalized” in cinema…but especially in the ALIEN universe. If I was to be an actor or an extra in the cast, I would love to have a great death scene. An unforgettable scene, where the Alien violates the HELL out of my character in a deliberate, face to face confrontation (like Brett and Parker), before slowly taking my life with its long nailed fingers embedded in my ribcage. With the Alien’s sinister grin “up in my grill”, and with my last breaths I spout out my final cheesy dialogue, “That’s right chum, just do it! You'll never outlast us, you don’t have the smarts. You can’t even read…you ignorant fuck! Come on, let us embrace at last…Ahhhhhhh!…” Now that would be sweet! HaHa. On the other hand, I would have preferred to be part of the script writing process, or maybe a “Special ALIEN Continuity Consultant” with creative control and final cut authority. Do you think that’s asking too much? Obviously, I would be entitled to all other special privileges therein, or shuold I say Theron...such as full access to Charlize Theron’s trailer, complete with private slumber parties..."the works". This way I could act out my secret fantasy of ravaging a beautiful woman, whilst dressed as the Alien. Hey...Don't Judge! Pacino did it…as Lucifer in “The Devils Advocate”, so what the hell! Seriously though, I would’ve liked to be part of the script writing and art direction teams. I don’t mind knowing the story, inside and out…as long as I could help craft it into a great ALIEN picture. ~Neurion
