JOHNNYMORPH This. Exactly this. He also created the franchise and he's been good to Fox.
20th Century Fox would be wise to end the speculation about the future of the Alien movie series and state that Sir Ridley Scott will be allowed to direct the next installments, with hopefully a larger budget.
Ridley Scott has made 20th Century Fox a ton of money over the years and he should be given respect and the freedom to make the next movie how he wants.
IRaptus Exactly! :-) I heard elsewhere though that LV-426 is a moon to a planet on the other side of the galaxy from where Origae-6 is.
Huge! IRaptus, you know something. :)
Lawrence of Arabia - Ha! So would I! :D
Hopefully Covenant is setting the pieces for a climatic third film. Something huge and epic. Perhaps the engineers follow the Covenant to Origae-6 in pursuit of David. big conflict between engineers and humans + david. Total chaos and destruction of the planet.
LV426
hopefully Covenant is just setting the pieces for a big climatic third film, something huge like a war between engineers and humans + David on Origae-6 using Xeno's as a bio-weapon against each other. Total chaos and destruction.
Bam!
LV426
IRaptus I hope this as well. I want to know more about them, Ridley keeps teasing us! Though, I want to see them fall prey to David's machinations as well.
IRaptus I agree, Ridley Scott, let him finish his story.
I would also watch what Ati suggested XD
haha Ati nice. Maybe

I hope the Engineers are going to return with a vengeance in Awakening. They are surely going to be upset about the annihilation of their people, and the bastardisation of their tech
...the alien Queen.
I love Mr H videos. He has such a dramatic voice, like the David Attenborough of Alien species. The other Alien/Predator channels just don't have the impact his videos do.
Walter reminds me very much of Data. I was instantly smitten when I saw AC for the first time. I think there's plenty of capability there for him to develop and learn over time. I also believe that the Walter model he is, likely incorporates all variants due to the nature of his mission. He's never going to be returning to earth, so it makes sense to make him as complete as possible, so as to better serve the crew and colonists.
Glad to have you on board sherries & Lawrence of Arabia
Yes we will try and make it as easy as possible. I'll try and do a demo video in the next day or two
Ridley Scott. it won't be anyone else until this prequel story is finished
I concur I Moon Girl, Walter is very charming in a nerdy way and I also felt he was perfect for Daniels.
Nicely put VivisectedEngineer & Seph7 :-)
As others have said, LV-223 and LV-426 are moons orbiting a gas giant called Calpamos in the Zeta II Reticuli system, which took the Prometheus two years to get to.
Planet 4 is orbiting what is known as a Sequence Star only a month or so from our solar system. A system that until AC, we didn't even know existed because it had been missed in system searches for habitable planets.
Judging purely on the distances, the Covenant could actually go right by ZIIR on their way to Origae-6, which might be where David is hoping they'll pass by... More ampoules of pathogen for him to collect...
I'm honestly surprised that people keep having this conversation, despite the fact that RS himself has stated that it is David on the Covenant, and the time lapse between the fighting androids, and David running after Lope and Daniels is about 15-20 mins. Plenty of time for David to surprise Walter and shut him down again, nick his clothes, and cut off his own hand.
Nox - The notion that David 'uploaded' himself into Walter's body is entirely fanciful and completely unnecessary. David simply beat him in the fight, with a sneaky use of the knife, that's all. He already took the time to cut and dye his hair some time earlier so that he resembled Walter more closely. All part of a contingency plan in his twisted mind.
Exactly.
Thank you, I appreciate your sentiment. :-)
@Lawrence I certainly understand your point of view on this.
I really hope they don't change course, again, and say David didn't breed the Xenomorph into existence. That would ruin the narrative set forth by Prometheus and now Covenant. David, he's an excellent character and antagonist and I find his story relatable. I want to watch more films in which he terrorizes people in space. I understand some found the mystery surrounding the Xeno an allure but I like this origin. The Xeno is the epitome of death and the fact he was manufactured by hate, malice, and lunacy is intriguing imo. I also want to learn more about the Engineers and I also agree that the Alien universe is so vast that focusing on one individual story can be a waste but David has so much potential and that would truly be waste.
Not sure how I feel about this. I don't like the story revolving around "David" completely, as I think there are way too many other fascinating and interesting topics that need to be explored in this vast "A L I E N" universe, but I don't necessarily want him to "go away" either. Now, I currently do NOT believe that he is the absolute Xeno creator, only a curator/experimenter, so therefore I think they absolutely could easily do stories without him.
I think when Prometheus didn't hit the audience approval marks they wanted, and when they saw the magic that Fassbender created on the big screen, they pretty much forced RS and the team to revolve the next installment around him, and that's why we got THIS version of A:C, instead of a better, more expository film. Hopefully relaxing the David story a bit will allow that to happen next go round.
Michelle -
Thanks for your time answering that.
It was interesting to read your take on RS quote about The War of the Worlds and the demise of the invaders through a virus. Perhaps this is the piece of WOTW that RS was leaning to. My thoughts were around all out war but this could be interesting especially after A:C when the Black Goo is looking like some plague.
We all noticed Rosie had a Star Of David necklace.
Now she was killed by one of Davids morphs.
I wonder if anyone can think of a way of linking that or the reason Rosie (or any character) wore that particular piece.
I love this sort of thing but i dont have any knowledge around it
Lilly -
Yes he is heavily influenced by here and AVP ;)
Oh and the back burster ? That was amazing. That whole scene anyways ;) i thought Faris done an amazing job at losing the plot !! That was some performance and it was the most just out right disturbing part of the movie
Michelle, thank you very much. You are a brilliant person.
Big Dave is Mr H
Strange decision given David is the only redeeming part of the prequels...
So if The Engineers are not a warring race as you suggested and that you dont think that they are the only ones who can fly in space which i mentioned, then there could be a possibility that it is something else ;)lol
So you point to the lack of weapons and defensive systems but insist there are other space fairing beings out there. So maybe the lack of weapons may mean that these Engineers 223 could be creations made by The Elders of higher, possibly in their image and they are not trusted with weapons by the higher beings.
If there are others out there with capabilities of destroying space craft then these creations could be easily replaceable and any attack suffered may be of no concern
(Except of course the cost of the craft or do these creations do all the work and build space craft for a higher being?)
I think overall the big question is: Why do they seed the planets ?
The black goo got into the site and generated a double post.
Hi Sherris
Ridley openly talks about the prosaic side of the equation as well as indicate that the story can grow (or shrink) depending on the reaction to Covenant. Lets see how it goes/possibly one more possibly two with any number of contradictions (Fox the second in a trilogy). So given that Covenant hasn't taken the box office by storm and the ALIEN prefix has not guaranteed a bigger audience I think one is much more likely.
What he has said :-
1) The Xenomorphs will break lose from A I control.
2) There will be several players incoming to the planet.
3) It will be a bit War of The Worlds (ish).
4) The Engineers will return from their intergalactic seeding to find their home world devastated.
5) Its quite a complicated story the Engineers are just a superior species (thats from autumn 2015) so who made them.
Given the reaction to Covenant is mixed/underwhelming I think Fox will want to be able to market it as :-
1) The answer to the big question.
2) Xeno's cut lose who can stop them ?
3) Incoming Weyland Yutani and Engineers.
(so all the key iconic motives are all in place for a big confrontation).
I can imagine them wanting to sell a trailer like that
This time its war (again ha ha) !
You can imagine an "ahead of the game David" manoeuvring his way out of the mayhem, we know he can pilot a Juggernaut, leaving to exact his revenge believing himself superior to all the players.
Ridleys remarks about the returning Engineers is I think the element that propels them into the story as a reaction to what David has done. They come after him and in that exchange and confrontation we could learn more about the intent of the Engineers and their relationship to mankind. But the Engineers I am certain are only there to feed the Jockey story and Davids end game which could easily be one and the same thing.
Its also interesting to think in War of the Worlds the incoming die of a virus and the story collapses, is this an allegory for the infected jockey who brings the Juggernaut down in the same way.
Several people have referred to Covenant as a link film rather than an event in itself in which case its a link to the end, you can not have another link or more to the point risk another one.
At its simplest like you I do not feel expansion and endless vistas. Personally I feel contraction with David being the spine of the story.
@sherris I've noticed the same pattern in his videos too.
Honestly, I liked Alien Covenant more than Prometheus. The parts with the back burster and faceburster legit freaked me out, I was shaking it was so gory and usually I don't get disturbed easily.
Agree with Dr. Connors! "Ridley is to blame, yeah the writing sucks obviously but he must have liked it otherwise he wouldn't have made it. "
AC sucked...let the credits role.....Also...it is amusing coming here now and seeing this article assuring people sequels are not in danger...does the writer have some real information and his opinion is relevant...no he does not.....oh unless he is writing a check to fund the sequels he claims are assured lol
