Exactly, dk! I forgot to actually put that in the post (I'll edit it in a moment, actually), but I definitely thought about that. I mean, the question becomes: How would there be eggs? Does the Alien evolve, like, into a queen? Or wuold they be able to lay a couple of eggs in the warrior (or lurker or whatever they may be referred to as. That is lingo from Colonial Marines I belive) xenomorph state?
That scene is one of those confusing things about this franchise. Something that is basically canon, but there isn't the most concrete of explanations. I mean, those quotes might be pretty solid so I guess that is the answer. I don't know at this point, haha!
I am in the vicinity of iRaptus, south of Newcastle in Eleebana.
Interesting and your video does jump to the scene in question.
My issue is that RS said they were food to be used for eggs already laid. That didn't happen on the Nostromo. The Alien didn't lay eggs on the ship and look for a food source in any cut of the movie.
@Lawrence of Arabia, lol!
Imagine it pyjamas and a little alarm clock next to its head ticking away! hahahaha.
He could have been trying to camouflage amongst the conduits & pipes or about to hibernate, ridinvail thats an interesting concept, it is suppose to be an ever evolving lifeform so its not out of the question.
Big Chap was always pretty slow except for when it made of with Brett.
I figure it would have died by itself until Ripley poked the hornets' nest.
@BigDave I'm with you on that. My confusion is how the wasp-thingies tie in with the overall life cycle.
@Kethol
The novel and the movie state that it's a pathogen/virus that infects animals.
So where I'm at now is this: Black goo + host = killed outright or death by spawning aggressive hybrid.
Black goo + something = egg that spawns parasite.
It's the last part that still confuses me. I guess eggs are a result of black goo infection.
Poor little guy got pooped from massacring a crew and felt he could always get Ripley after a nap. ;)
If you subscribe to the whole battery acid for blood theory (ref: Fifield question) as a form of energy production (in lieu of food) you could assume the xeno was there to die, having just about depleted its energy reserves. Would also explain why it was so lethargic and slow....it was literally running out of batteries.
Engeneers vs aliens EvA? Never gonna happen as RS is strongly against the AvP saga and that staff really remind it...
I thought the Xeno accomplished its mission so to speak after it made the egg morph (although that was only in the director's cut). It may have sensed things were going wrong when the alarms were sounding during the self destruction sequence. The kicker is if it was going to die anyway, why would it stow away on the escape ship and not just curl up on the Nostromo?
I think back then, they filmed it the way they did not knowing the series would become what it has.
I never understood why the Xenomorph just decided to take a nap and let Ripley walk about either, if that's what you mean lol
@Aloo Fox would be the one that financed it.
IRAPTUS - Oh, gosh! He is, um, "colorful"! Hahaha! ;)
IRaptus That is awesome! We have that behavior over here but not the witty commentary as far as I can tell. Delacado is similar in his commentaries.
Let me share with you all some good ol' Australian culture.
This here is our greatest ever viral sports commentator, who became famous commentating for the EPL "football" in England
Language Warning ;-)
(i'll only post a link to it, not embed the video)
dk no I haven't seen that dude before. I'll check him out!!! he looks like the love child of Alexi Laiho (COB) and Mad Max though hahahah
Slab_bay, A small village of 800 people! and you had to take a boat! and a small plane!! to see Alien Covenant?! Wow. That's hardcore. Much respect for all you had to do just to see a new movie! :-)
IRaptus Speaking of Australia, have you seen this guy? As a guitarist you might appreciate him. He lives somewhere in Australia. Love this guy!
DRACONUS - Is he? How very fantastic! :)
I have one question.
Ridley Scott have his own production house Scoot free productions ?
And Fox owned the Alien franchise ?
Who give the money for budget for alien Covenant Scott production house or Fox ?
SR, member JPCerato is in Australia. He's said that on his Twitter.
IRAPTUS - Hahaha! I have visited Australia in the past! It is much more beautiful than the Merry Old England, if you ask me! ;)
I'm in America but I didn't celebrate Independence Day yesterday, but my friend's birthday was yesterday.
Raises a beer in salute to Something Reals UK... Australia's Colonial Overlords lol.
DK, Well done. You got there in the end! I know Ashford also, its a few miles from Shepperton.
DK - This is always such a very fun topic! I am representing London, of the great and beautiful United Kingdoms! *Gives her most formal bow to everyone*
DK, I see why you guessed Fulmer, think that's near Pinewood Studios, where Aliens was filmed.
I will reveal the location.....
I am based in Shepperton in the UK. Alien was filmed at Shepperton Studios in 1978, which is exactly 1 mile away from where I live.
Nice to live near the place where all this started...
JOHNNYMORPH Fair enough. I remember the pub from a documentary but can't recall the name. Oh well. Shepperton or Ashford would have been the next guesses but that's all I've got.
DK, Fulmer? No, I don't live in Fulmer. Never heard of it. I live where the first Alien movie was filmed/produced back in 1978.
@Big Dave - Do please continue discussing your ideas for the script!
JOHNNYMORPH I suppose I will guess Fulmer.
Hoonah, Alaska - A Rural Village of 800 people.... Had to take a boat, and a small plane to watch AC in Juneau...didn't get to watch it until May 30th.
BigDave, Your A.R.F. (Alien Research Facility) is underground? Very wise to have it underground, like the Engineer Jugganauts! :-0
Great video, by the way. Awright Skip! ;-)
How did David make the Ovomorphs in Covenant? With Shaw's eggs and manipulation of the black goo, correct? The Engineers share the same DNA with humans, as proven by Shaw in Prometheus, so despite the unorthodox combination that resulted into the Deacon/Ultramorph at the end of the film it would have come out the same way. I believe the Engineers already knew about the process and created their brand of Ovomorphs (which would be made with female Engineer eggs) that would result in Deacons. David 8 found an Ovomorph on Paradise in Covenant and reverse engineered their process with Shaw's eggs and perfected their creation into the Xenomorph. He saw the survival instinct in Shaw, part of the reason he's attracted to her, and wanted it for his perfect organism. That's my hypothesis.
Aw yes, always a fun little exercise! I am representing Henderson, NV in the U.S.A. :D
I love reading stories like that. The good old days.
I am from North Carolina in USA! Hello y'all & GO TARHEELS! ;)
@Kethol - What are your thoughts on who/where this 'Anthrax' was to be used? I think this could be very interesting.
