Looks like Facehuggers! has a plan. I think he may be collating  with Mother.

"I actually have seen the chinese version and it totally sucks! In the end for some reason they even cut the part where David regurgitates one of the embryos. So for them it's one facehugger embryo, not two."

Wow, that is a really interesting tidbit! Can you imagine the censorship person's thinking? "Regurgitating one facehugger embryo? Seems fine. REGURGITATING TWO FACEHUGGER EMBRYOS!? Oh, come on now! That's just obscene!" Hehe.

@Lawrence of Arabia

Thanks!!! I can't wait too! ...O_O; it comes out right on Krishna Janmashtami! ...Must...resist...the temptation to watch it while I should be at the temple...

Oh well, at least by then I can watch it to console myself over the tragic demise of my summer vacation T_T .And yes, hopefully Ridley WILL tell his story regardless of what detractors think. At this point in his career he doesn't have to cater to everyone's whims, he can focus on his own creative vision.

And

@Dr. Curt Connors

Covenant is GREAT! GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT!!! You saying otherwise is not going to change our minds. *Throws the word 'GREAT' all around the room to spite you* :D

@joylitt

Thanks for the ideas! :) As for the transmission, I'm pretty sure that happened during the time period of "The Crossing" when she and David were laying in a course to their destination and all.

I suspect... circumstances being what they were, she was probably feeling pretty homesick. It reminded me of when I stay late at work grading papers, and I'm one of the only people in the school and I sing "Sloop John B" because I want to go home, lol. :P

The novel also mentions she stopped singing and glanced behind her shoulder nervously, seeming as though she felt threatened. So, I think she already(rightfully) had a pretty bad feeling about David, which undoubtedly compounded her homesickness.

She had little choice but to trust him, but she had already gotten a pretty good glimpse of his moral character in Prometheus...

(I guess what I'm saying is all the calamity that ensued is sort of entirely her fault. Which I don't mind because wracked-with-guilt characters are one of my favorite types, lol).

Actually, it's kind of fun thinking about her motives and reasoning, I'll think about making another story, and see if I can come up with anything half-decent. Maybe Dr. Shaw's journal entries or something? ...I think the novel actually mentioned something about her having a journal in fact...)

As far as re-imagining her fate and letting her meet the Engineers...that could also be fun...but be warned: I would still find a way for the protagonists' day to be thoroughly ruined by the end of it. :)

I have Cubase but haven't used that in a long time. I will disguise my appearance but have no problem if my voice comes through. Each to his/her own.

Pull yourself out of the 1990s. It's 2017.

3-4 months from theatrical release to DVD/Blu is typical. Prometheus was only 4 months.

I don't think so, not that ive been able to find. But It's easy enough done through Cubase or any of the audio recording software. I have Cubase 7, I can easily run everyone's soundbites through it if we need.

I may have used that effect in the past.... ;)

Who even watches blurays? Can't wait for this on DVD. Honestly this movie will be in the top 10 of best films this year, easily.

Cool! Is there a download for that?

I have a few physical ideas in mind and will share via PM. I have a built in webcam thing on my laptop that has some interesting effects too. The possibilities are mind boggling. It will come down to what Facehuggers! puts out for requirements needed.

IDEA: How about we all distort our voices with the whole Bishop/Ash dying android voice. Whispered with a light phaser vocoder effect.

Would tie it well with the atmosphere of what we are trying to do

And you're throwing the word great around very loosely, this movie is the furthest thing from great. It's a disgrace to the Alien film franchise.

No Ridley was grasping at straws sniffing coke when he was making this movie, haha. Hopefully the Alien universe will rest in peace after this shitstorm. Covenant is a flop, people are considering The Mummy a flop which has made over 100 million more dollars than Covenant worldwide already and only has about a 30 million more dollar budget than Covenant so if that's the case Covenant is a huge flop.

It might not have a Director's Cut this soon, but maybe an extra could be a bootlegged phone cam version with people walking in front of the screen speaking Chinese and not seeing the Alien/morphs!

I believe there are so many things that haven't been explored in the movie that it gives you plenty of room to speculate about things like that famous transmission. Under what circumstances she made it, and what was its purpose. Or even what if you forget about what happened in the movie and you try to imagine how it would have been like her meeting with the engineers.

Nicely put @VivisectedEngineer :-) Even if it didn't do the greatest, it's still a great film and there are lots of great films that bombed (WAY worse than Covenant) at the box office. I'm gladly throwing cash at Fox because I'm loving what they're doing. I'm stoked Covenant is coming out soon since I can't wait to watch it in my lair >:-) Hopefully Ridley gets to make as many films needed to properly tell his story.

I'm excited for the Blu-ray. I want the sequel to get made and I'd be happy with just one more prequel. I like the idea of an Alien prequel trilogy..

I'm not keeping my head in the sand, I'm being objective. You imply that since the movie is coming out three months from its theatrical run that its saying Fox is scrambling for cash but then I use Wonder Woman as an example since it is doing very well at the box office but coming out around the same time showing that what you believe to be panic is false. Now it just looks like you are trying to grasp at straws. Yes, Covenant didnt do great domestically but overall $228 million worldwide against a $97 mill budget isnt bad.

@Dr. Curt Connors

Ok? What do you want us to do? We didn't write Covenant, and who knows, maybe it didn't make a lot of money, but we love it just the same.

Are we "keeping our heads in the sand", because we love it? We're not going to stop loving it, just because some people don't.

Anyhow, Covenant isn't even finished making money. For example, I've ordered six "Weyland-Yutani: Covenant" T-shirts for me and my husband and my sister and my friends to wear to my birthday next month. Undoubtedly some of my birthday gifts will be Alien and Covenant related.

We love it and we're fans of it, ok? Some people just like the original movie and they feel it can't be topped. That's great, you all can just keep watching the original movie ad infinitum, don't let us stop you.

Oh, gosh dammit! The last thing I need is a bunch of parents calling me up saying I influenced their middle school child to watch Alien...

The best way to get them to watch is to tell them it is evil, naughty and never watch it.....or else. There will soon be a new generation of Alien fans lol!

Good comparison, a movie that's made a shitload of money to one that hasn't. I know some movies come out faster on Blu Ray than they used to, this is definitely panic for the Alien universe. Just keep your head in the sand and think Covenant is great and that Fox is happy with the amount of money it's made. Newsflash they're not

This is standard practice and not a reflex. A lot of movies nowadays come out pretty quick behind their theatrical run. Wonder Woman is coming out on video in August too, I guess they're trying to recoup as well? Lol

I already ruffled feathers once for reading the Roald Dahl story "Lamb to the Slaughter" to my class, which was apparently too grim for some (even though my class read it when I was in middle school).

Ok, ok, maybe I will wear a disguise!

Haha, ok, AGREED! A documentary would be awesome and I would love to participate.

MAYBE I will wear a disguise...or maybe I'll just be super sure not to say any swear words in my interview...

And I'll conclude my interview with a little disclaimer to all the middle school kiddos at home, warning them not to watch rated R movies without their parents' permission :P

Lawrence of ArabiaAlien: Covenant ForumPost Scriptum

Alien is the best H.P. Lovecraft film not based on any H.P. Lovecraft story. The impossible, symbolic, and grotesque nature of the monster, a realm of unknowable terror just next to our own, is as mature and troubling as sci-fi horror gets. Prometheus attempted to open the door to the great destiny of humanity to know itself and its place in the universe. Alien: Covenant slams that door shut.

A ship full of colonists, a crew comprised of couples, some looking for a future, others believing in a higher power, all are greeted by cold, dark space. Our curiosity expels us from Eden and out to hell, where there are monsters. The Xenomorphs represent unsympathetic, unwavering death- not Evil, which is arguably worse as an objective evil would imply an objective good. Instead we are faced with chaos, and an abyss filled with violence.

Paradise is lost.
