With filming set to begin on the Prometheus sequel, Alien: Paradise Lost in January/February of the new year, it's surpising to hear that script revisions may be happening. According to a new report from Variety, Ridley Scott is currently working with well-respected screenwriter John Logan, who is known for writing such films as Skyfall as well as the most recent Spectre; both of which have received massive critical acclaim.
Variety reports: “Following that double-whammy, it was 30 years before Scott tried his hand at sci-fi again, though he now seems firmly re-entrenched in the zone. “Prometheus,” 2012’s oblique prequel to “Alien,” returned him to the extraterrestrial territory he revisits in “The Martian,” while he and scribe John Logan are revising the script for an as-yet-untitled “Prometheus” sequel — inspired, he says, by Milton’s epic poem “Paradise Lost” — set to start rolling in February.”
Why the author of the article forgot that Prometheus 2 has already been titled Alien: Paradise Lost by Ridley Scott himself back in September is unknown - it's unlikely they'll be changing the title of the film this close to their projected filming start date. Although, anything is possible, considering the relatively unanimous backlash the new title received from the Prometheus fan base. Fans insist that the new series keep with the "Promethean" title credits to signify its departure from the closed-off Alien series. Whether Scott and company have taken their opinions to heart has yet to be officially announced.
Titles aside, it would seem the Prometheus sequel is getting some final tweaks, which may throw off some of the information we recently shared with readers, as well as the bombshell article we're preparing to share tomorrow. From what I've seen and read so far though, I hope they don't change too much...
