Following last week's announcement that Alien 5 director Neill Blomkamp had recently sat down with Prometheus director Ridley Scott to tweak the film's script to avoid interference with Prometheus 2, comes some potentially exciting news on Prometheus 2's plot synopsis! If the report is accurate, this could reveal a massive plot point for Prometheus 2's story and explain why Alien 5 had to be altered.
The information comes to us from Twitter follower Christopher Marc, where he claims to have been given information by someone very close to the script development process for Prometheus 2, back when Jack Paglen had been replaced by Michael Green, saying "At the time I had zero understanding what the rewrites were going to be from Green, making this information a bit pointless back then. Keeping it in the back of my mind when hearing anything new about the sequel.".
Now, onto the actual rumor (which this will remain as such, until we hear official word from anyone officially involved with the production of Prometheus 2 or until Fox asks us to remove the information) which we urge readers to take with a grain of salt:
I’ve heard rumblings from people with access to some drafts that Shaw’s warning to stay away from LV223 is dismissed by the greedy and untrusting Weyland executives or someone else at the company. They want to know if the Prometheus crew made contact with alien life-forms or technology, since it would be extremely profitable for the company if they did even if it killed the previous group.
Instead of sending unreliable humans with expensive contracts/supplies, they send a large group of robots this time, some military hardware and a small handful of loyal Weyland employees, because the robots might need a handler or two to keep them inline and on task.
Chris adds that "This would explain the multiple Davids that are said to be in the film and could be the secondary plot of the film. I’m just curious if we’ll be seeing a military model of the Weyland synthetics."
The Alien 5 "script tweaks" Neill Blomkamp mentioned "could be Weyland experimenting on a engineer ship, using the engineer technology as seen in the concept art with Ripley or both."
It's certainly worth considering, as this rumor isn't too far fetched. However until we know for sure, we will classify this leak as nothing more than a rumor. But, rest assured we will remain on top of this and any other potential Prometheus 2 leaks as they surface online!
