During an interview with Collider, discussing his latest film The Martian, visionary director Ridley Scott expanded on previous statements about what we can expect to see in his follow-up sequel to 2012's sci-fi spectacle, Prometheus 2. According to Scott, of the many questions posed in Prometheus, the one Prometheus 2 will begin to tackle are the ones concerning the Black Goo / Bioformer substance and why the Engineers created such a dangerous / evil compound.
“It starts off with a very grand idea—or a grand question, really. Who are they and why did they create such evil biology and bacteriology? And [in creating], to protect themselves from what? So the questions are answered there, or rather, beginning to be answered in Prometheus 2.” - Ridley Scott
